Thx for putting this myth to bed.
Personally, I can't stand any lighting in the front of my theater room, I even put my equipment rack in the back so I don't see the screen lighting. I turn off my riser lighting and my crown molding lighting when watching a movie.
Screen lighting looks great when showing off your room before the movie but it never made sense while watching a movie, biased or not.

Can u explain a bit more the thing about the CRI? For what I understood that's color accuracy. What I'm guessing is that is not really related to that, and more to the fact that brands seem to have their own measurements. Maybe picking ones that you are able adjust would achieve the same effect if you prefer them to be brighter/dimmer.

This is a super simplified explanation. Let’s say the target for accuracy is the number 12. So you can have 100% accuracy and it consists of 4+4+4 to be ideal. You can have the total colour to be, say, 6+5+1 and the measurement still reads 12. But that’s the “wrong” way of obtaining that number 12.
This is the same with TV. Lots of TVs claim to be accurate. If you just meter it, it will be accurate but it won’t look “right”.

Hey David. Should I use bias lighting for my Oled display?

There is absolutely no need. I installed one for my OLED and I ended up never using it at all.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Ok Thanks. I know for led's it's usefull for blooming & to give better contrast. I was reading comments on Avs forum & some people were saying to use it for Oleds some said you don't need it. I just figured that it wouldn't be needed for watching my Oled in the dark.

There is absolutely no need for OLED. The only reason for bias light is if only the TV can’t do proper blacks. If your TV can do proper blacks, bias light is not needed.
For projection, it’s the reverse. If you add bias light, your black level will suffer greatly.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Yeah that's what I thought. Interesting about the projectors, making it worse. What brand of Oled do you own?
