I have the 4D, I gotta say it will change your movie/gaming experience. My only complaint even though Nanoleaf seems to be accurate of them all, it's not that accurate always. It's like 75% accurate, which is 25% percent missing is still a lot. Like a lot! I hope they focus on accuracy.
I went for the full Philipps Hue setup: 65" Philipps Ambilight TV, bridge and total 5 hue lamps in my livingroom.. just love how all works perfect together. Costs more but works perfekt.
@@AlexTeo no, the tv is separate. I connected two Hue Iris to the TV (located left & right) to have the full imersion. I had to configure that in tje tv options.
Just got the govee t3 lite it’s decent however the color matching sometimes doesn’t make sense. I’m thinking Phillips hue would be the most accurate, just hate that you need a sync box for it
Hue being number one of course but the Govee is so close to it and covers the bottom portion of the screen with very similar color hues for a fraction of the cost…clear winner. Nanoleaf had a great product on hand but I’m not sure why they didn’t choose to go RGBIC rather than standard RGB lights…the separation of the leds when displaying color are so distracting 😣 not a very clean look. It’s a shame, they almost nailed it! I’m still rocking the T1 over here and smoothness between transitions is still better.
Philips hue can obviously make an app for older model smart TVs. For now I'm going through my ps5 for Netflix in order to get the syncing to work. It works fine.
@oreosk8ter they would need Google to provide support for that, which they don't and do not want over privacy concerns (as any app could check what you're watching and use it for ads purpose for example). So it's very unlikely to come short term.
Having the phillips hue, I believe the colours have a better gradient effect to them and “blends” On the other hand the other brands, the colours seem to separate…
In the video it looked like the nanoleaf wasn't as bright as the others based on how far the light spread across the wall behind. Do you feel that was an accurate representation?
I have the nano leaf and after looking at others I am very happy with my choice. The camera has a very small footprint when putting it on the bottom and the colour projection is rich and vibrant, especially for gaming. As far as I can tell it has the most customisable options as well. The Hue should be the best device in theory, given Philips basically came up with the “ambilight” concept but the limitation of not being able to use it with everything is a deal breaker for me, all of the thru box style ones for that matter.
If you have the money, the philips hue is the best. GRANTED i will say no 2.1 on sync box is still pretty big negative. But with hue where 1 zone ends and another begins is less obvious. You also can make just about any hue color lights work with it. for example i have a friend who has the Lightstrip + the tube that covers the bottom of the tv, then he puts 2 of the smaller ones you showed in the corner behind floorstanding speakers to the right and left of the TV. AND the room itself is lit by hue light strips in the left and right side and all of these lights sync with the movie light making it a whole room experience. if it wasn't for sync box not being hdmi 2.1 I'd say its the clear winner everytime other than cost.
Lytmi is frustrating as it doesn't work with dual band or 5ghz Wi-Fi signal. Here in the US, most Wi-Fi devices broadcast in dual band. Additionally the corner/side attachment brackets are unsustainable over time and the strips detach after several months of installation. The update having the more extensive tape strips are a solid improvement.
Lytmi fantasy 3 user here with a LG G3. One suggestion to contribute. The color of my featured wall holding my wall mounted TV is black and it drastically reduced the light diffusion effect. One workaround I did was to install mirror strips at the back of the TV and it helped to reflect light and amplify the diffusion effect
@@youtubesuxnow8766 White of course, its a neutral color that would accurately depict the colors of the leds. The commentor isnt telling you what color you should paint your wall, but merely suggesting to use mirrors if your walls happen to already be colored prior to installing the LEDs. Obviously dark colored walls wouldnt reflect the colors of the LEDs accurately as plain white walls, so they're sharing what helped them instead of repainting your walls or returning your lights or suffering with poor light output. Awesome tip BTW
Little feedback to the review. Should be comparing govee T1 which is at the same price range with nanoleaf 4d though it has been in the market for near 2 years. Anyway govee has just launched 3 lite and it’s worth to compare. Govee has dreamview feature which allow all govee products to immerse with the colour changing on the tv. Govee has about 60+ product sku for you to choose for colour synchronisation. Nanoleaf has about 10 sku I think. The product and company scale is different between Govee and Nanoleaf. I own these 2 products and I am a fan of govee 😊 👍🏼😀
this video is actually not about comparing the tv backlight models or the companies, its what I recommend to buy today, i mentioned and demonstrated the dreamview feature with the govee lyra though, i'm not a fan of any brands haa
While i do not want a camera at the top of my TV, the fact that it doesn't go through a box that might not be up to par with HDMI 2.1 and doesn't increase latency, which they all do, some worse than others, and this works with EVERY TV, no matter what brand, no TV app needed etc. and the price is pretty good, i think Govee is the way to go. For me at least. It's most future proof too i guess.
You can actually put the camera at the bottom of your TV and hide it... there is a UA-camr who does a lot of work with LEDs who shows you how he hit his camera to his TV. And this was one sitting on a stand not a wall mount
Hey can I connect the govee to a smart plug? I want to set an automation where if the tv turns off then also turn off govvee I think i read it doesn’t have auto shut off?
I took back my HUE setup because it honestly didn't look better than the Govee setup I already had & at times was actually worse. For that kind of money after also buying their other products needed to make it work as well, you'd better be able to smash the competition like ants or I just don't see the justification in that insane difference in price. Its not even close. You wanna sell me a Goose for 5k then it better shoot out a golden egg every morning and not require me to buy even more stuff to make that happen either. As far as privacy concerns with camera setups....Hello. How are you? Yeah, your entire life is on the web and has been for years. I'd get used to it just like any other thing we can't control anymore because as much as you may think, you really can't. Sucks but it is what it is at this point. Nice video btw & much appreciated to see the comparisons in a single video.
Govee better than phillips hue ? Sorry but i disagree totally . I have BOTH and my hue setup is by far the BEST . Yes its expensive but you get what you pay for and phillip hue is far better. Color Accuracy beats govee , hue setup is easier to setup , hue setup automaticly allows and adjusts for black bars at top and bottom on some movies . Better range of products and more . Dont get me wrong , my govee is good but phillips is far superior.
Much bigger fan of Govee however for syncing my gaming monitor to lights the only solution to fuckin blow me away is 6 hue bulbs and using the hue software to sync. ZERO latency, 10000x brighter than any light strip, great accuracy and doesn’t hinder my pc at all. Plus I got them used for cheap, they’re going on 5 years old and still work like they’re new. This is the ONLY thing I’ll ever recommend hue for.
I’ve had Phillips hue from day one and couldn’t ever think of moving to a different one the only thing I wish is that Phillips would update there sync box to 120hz with a update or a new sync box for 120hz because the best I can get is between 80hz and a 100hz at best at 4k on my ps5
@@AlexTeothey use the latest LG OLED panels, so they're arguably the best screens available. The built-in LED system is more complex than the Hue Play Gradient Light step, with each segment containing multiple LEDs that emit multiple colors at different depths to create a layered series of auras around the TV.
Ive just brought the Govee 3 lite really happy with it all tho i had an isssue connecting it to the wifi however the tech team were very supportive and responded quickly. The only negative feedback i would give is i found the adhesive not very strong so had problems sticking the box the led clips to the back of my tv. But really happy with the set up.
Great vid buddy, I already purchased the Govee T2 but before installing it just checking a few tutorial vids and then this comparison vid popped up, looks like my initial research paid off and the Govee is the one, I’m really not bothered by the big camera tbh, waited for Black Friday & picked the 55” version T2 for £89.99 pretty happy I waited 👌
I'm down the same rabbit hole as well. Bought an 85 inch and ordered the t2. I thoughf about t3, but the comments and everyone was saying t2 is more brighter/more color..... I'm patiently waiting and just binge watching UA-cam lol
@@briankasoziiii4837 Installed mine this Wednesday, don’t hesitate get it, especially if it’s on offer for a good price, installation was easy as well, as soon as I installed put Star Wars straight on lights off Govee on BOOM absolutely loved it 👌👌👌👌💥
Alex, I was in the market to buy a RGB lightstrip for my 75" Sony TV in my living room. This was perfect timing for black friday sales/deals. I definitely found this video extremely helpful and useful for the pros and cons for each product! I'm going to go with the Nanoleaf for not only the price point, they are very well known in the RGB community, and the connections / ecofriendly with other home apps. They can also sync with other Nanoleaf products which I'm a fan of their products. Thank you once again for your review!
@@heibaimao Hey, I've had this product from Nanoleaf for my 75" tv for about 6 months now. I will say I am still very impressed with this product. I cannot speak for Govee. The main reason I chose Nanoleaf over govee is because I also have a gaming computer and I have heard Nanoleaf's name to be very reputable company and brand. Also, the eco-friendly products with other Nanoleaf systems and lights. Now, Govee does have similar features and products to sync other products on their line. But I have always heard amazing reviews from Nanoleaf. I will also mention that my Nanoleaf App constantly updates their firmware and features. I have an iPhone and I can turn off the light strips with a button or sync it with Alexa, Google, Siri etc. Now going to the actual product itself, the lights are amazing. The colors are phenomenal with the different hues and the calibration is spot on for the corners of the TV to pick up those different shades etc. In the App, I can choose the percentage of how bright I want my lights to be and the 1D - 4D is awesome. I can also do a cinematic mode or a vibrant mode to bring out the really in depth hues. Nothing bad to say about this product. Again, I'm not sponsored nor do I have a Govee product. I just trusted the Nanoleaf brand and their quality products from other consumers and friends. I plan on syncing them with triangle lights and those lines.
@@heibaimao I initially chose Nanoleaf because of their reputation amongst their RGB products across multiple platforms. I also have a gaming computer and my other friends have vetted and vouched for Nanoleaf products whether it’s their triangles, lines, and other products. Govee seemed to be a little newer in the RGB community and I haven’t seen too many reviews on their specific TV light strip. Both companies so far have great reviews so no complaints there. Both companies also have eco friendly products meaning you can sync up multiple products within both apps. What I liked more about Nanoleaf is that it was very user friendly and you could use Siri, Alexa, Google, and control the lights through your apps. Some products as mentioned only allows a certain app to control it. I’ve owned this product for 3+ months now and it’s been nothing short of amazing! The Nanoleaf has an easy to use interface with a lot of settings you can set in the app. Also, Nanoleaf is constantly updating their firmware so you know you’re getting the best when it comes to connectivity and fixing small bugs that it may have. The lights are super bright if on 100% and even the low dim settings are nice if that’s your thing. I personally mounted this by myself on my 75” Sony 4K TV in my living room and it does a great job illuminating light on the back walls. The camera I set up is on the top of the TV. I haven’t tried to set up the camera on my tv stand bc it’s not wide enough with my Sony soundbar in the front but no issues with color and hues. I calibrated the Sensor to the 4 corners, not all the way to the edge though. I hope this helps!
The answer is, as mentioned in the beginning, none of these make ambilight as fun as the inbuilt ambilight in modern philips devices. So if ambilight is a factor for your purchase - go spend the money on a Philips tv.
I dont agree , the phillips hue gradient strip is pretty much identicle to their ambilight tv's with the added bonus that , if and when the lights break you can just buy a new strip . If they go in the ambilight TV your probably done for lol .
Good vid. Small comment: at the end of the video when rating the 4 devices... why did you display Govee and Nanoleaf for the last 2? First put govee... then put nanoleaf. My opinion the Govee is the best.
Love the hue sync box. Got 3 of them with two bridges. My whole house also uses hue lights. I tried Govee and owned dreamscreen years ago. Govee and dreamscreen are similar. Software sucks and reminds me of android as hue software reminds me of iOS. hardware seems generic for govee other than the box and the back lights aren’t great if you buy a new TV cuz taking them off could damage the LED and at the same time, will not stick on new TV. Colors are brighter on govee but when you are gaming, you dont notice any of it as you aren’t staring at the wall. On top of that, I’ve gone through the experience of these random backlight companies with dreamscreen who just shut down and left customers with a near useless light system. I play with only hue lights on. Got the PC strip behind my 42 inch C2 and two desk top lamps on each side of the table plus two more lights in the back corner of the room all with colored bulbs. Had the ambient light strip for my living room TV since xmas of 2019 and added the others in the past two years and they all still works great with the only issue of having to factory reset when i change WI-FI passwords. Junked the dreamscreen, sold the govee and love the hues.
I have the govee T2, and it doesn't work very well. The camera was too bulky to install on my wall-mounted TV, I had to remove the weight and stick it to the TV edge. Also, my TV console is white, so the camera only picks reflections of the console on the TV screens, so it doesn't work right if there is any light in the room. Even in complete darkness, the colours are often wrong and white is always either blue or red, no matter how I adjust the settings.
On paper the Philips Hue App sounds like a great idea, no sync box, no camera, just a TV app. I got a Samsung TV mainly for that reason, but I was very disappointed with the app. First, the app wasn’t available in my country, so I had to switch to a US account, but it required a US card to make the purchase, which I got paying an extra and many workarounds. Then, I found out the app is quite buggy, let’s say you want to change the sync mode or the zone, the app freezes on loading and the only solution is to restart the TV. Also, even if you have automatic syncing when the TV is turned on, sometimes it just refuses to work, the solution is to go to the app and start syncing manually, and… surprise! The app freezed again, so time to restart the TV. Finally, it lacks many feature from the Hue Sync Box like Music Syncing (which was promised by the end of this year) or custom settings for each port. Fortunately I just got the monthly subscription and after some months of trying it and waiting for an update with bug fixes, I decided to order the Hue Sync Box 8K, it is too expensive for what it offers, but I prefer something expensive that actually works over a buggy app.
The "Lytmi Fantasy 3" looks good but $305 for a 75inch it's rather expensive.. one Positive thing is that lytmi has VAT included for EU that's really nice saving you the customs hassle.. in my opinion it's 50% to expensive.. prices need to come down.. by at least 50% for me to consider this and i won't touch any camera based system. So it's a no go for my new Bravia tv.
Or just do what I did Buy a Philips TV They are good tvs too and the light are already integrated The only thing that I don’t like is that is only 3 sides and not all 4 sides
I used to do lighting for theatre and the Phillips hue lights seem to diffuse way better with how it blends. Almost seamless…the rest, I just can’t help but be distracted and I can’t have that. I don’t mind the camera however the lights on the other seem so abrupt with the edges of the colors almost clashing
You did a nice job showing the installation for some of the lights, but I would’ve loved to see what the Nanoleaf installation looks like on the back of the TV. You showed us that Govvee doesn’t have corner lights to make it easier to stick on. Does Nanoleaf have that? Based on how you were speaking, it sounded like Govvee does and Nanoleaf doesn’t. So how do you easily stick on the Nanoleaf thing around corners?
nanoleaf is a straight through normal LED strip so at the 4 corners, the strip is not stick to the TV as you need to turn the strip, they do provide some corner brackets but they are not very useful
The Philips 909 is apparently quite good, great sound with the build in speakers , higher peak brightness and good mla oled supplied by lg@@bakiKaradeniz
Hey brother quick question What options do I have available if I have a Samsung Smart TV and want to watch movies through apps like Prime, Paramount + Tubi, etc. and still get the same effect?
Main problem I see with Lytmi is that it won't really work with built-in TV functions - such as streaming apps or TV (if you use built in tuner), cause then there is no HDMI input That is why I always thought about camera-based solutions. But now I learned about the Philips Hue from you and it seems like it should be able to work with any source, so it could be the nicest solution - no camera, fully software based. A shame they have such restrictive licensing policy.
Great video, as always! Would you recommend this set up for a frame TV (e.g. the Samsung Frame TV)? I have one at home and am wondering if this backlight goes well with the 'painting'-like quality of the frame TV.
Which one did you go eith for your gaming needs for a 4k+ resolution and minimum 60Hz refresh rate?? I had the hue HDMI sync box and 4 of those bar things that are kind or big. Oh and the Phillips hue Bridge. I really want to try the Phillips Hue gradient play light strip. The one with the angled brackets. To attach the light strip.
@@mattweller right but its fish eyed so it can see much more than the screen. You can see this when configuring the screen with the orange cubes at setup.
Bravoo 👏 for cracking that champ. Now, you are typing this with a device that is actually connected to the internet and all aspects of your life, oh and there is a camera on it facing you at all times. What is the game plan now bruh?
Best 1 so far (forme) is the Philips HUE SYNC BOX.. Not the TV sync App. 😂 it goes hard in da paint.. It's pricy but worth it. & Then govee #2 with the dreamView.
Great comparison! Regarding the govee camera, can you actually put in under the screen instead on the top of the screen so it would not be as eye catchy as possible?
I originally had something called dream screen. It was really really good just too bad. They went out of business. I was part of their Kickstarter and I loved it to death and then Phillips came out with their thing and it was just so expensive
Ive just ordered the lytmi fantasy 3 2..1 pro version for 85-90 inch for £220 on the lytme site. Im hoping for a decent picture running my ps5 games on vrr + alllm. Can't see to find any reviews on the pro version yet
Hello, I am wondering if you guys know of any workaround for camera based backlights for a really bright (2000 nits) monitor/tv. Am looking for backlight like this but because of the angle the camera's are placed I'm sure it would only see a bunch of white.
There is no solution I believe, I had the govee T2 and it only sees reflections on the screen as soon as there is any light in the room. It probably works well in very specific setup, but forget about it if your tv console is white or you don't use it in complete darkness.
Alex you have a badminton channel as well right? I currently have a Philips hue light strip but considering going to a 77 inch tv size from 65 so considering my options.
Yes would work , you could prop it up woth the sound bar or something atc and in the govee app when setting up you can switch position to top or bottom for the camera.
Phillips is best by far but expensive . Govee is a well deserved 2nd best . I own both and my phillips hue setup is far superior . I have the 65" play gradient light strip , 3 play bars for the bottom edge and 2 play gradient bulbs in lamps for either side of the room . All synced up using the PC Desktop hue gradient app as i watch content through pc and its GREAT . expensive BUT i saved £200 due to NOT NEEDING the SYNC BOX as the PC app does it all and its free.
as of now they are just another protocol, very few compatible device types. If there are a matter option for a device that I am interested to get, I will prioritize that over the other protocols, besides that nothing much. Ultimately, you still need to pick a smart home platform to use
Great video, thank you so much. I was pretty settled with getting Lytmi, but now I understand the technology better, I guess you it can't sync to normal TV or Apps on the TV like Netflix or plex?
@@AlexTeolooking to get my first tv backlight setup. are you saying the lytmi doesn’t work with normal tv channels or video/movies played through apps on the tv?
Hi Alex, I have been looking at options for around 6 months now and just wanted some feedback. I have an 85" in the man cave and was looking at the Goove T2 but in Australia it's nearly double the price of the Nano 4d. So that's ruled the T2 out. There is only about $50 between the Nano 4D and the Goove T3 just wondering which product you prefer between those 2?
Hi Alex, great video! I was deciding between the Lytmi vs Nanoleaf. I am using a 55" LG C3 TV. Just to check my understanding, the Lytmi uses a HDMI sync box. Would it be right to say that it would compromise the picture / video quality of the TV? I mainly watch shows via the native Netflix / Disney app, and gaming wise only on Nintendo switch. Should this be a consideration? Alternatively will be Nanoleaf which does not have the HDMI sync box. My wife is not keen for the camera, but noted that it could be laid low on the TV console which makes it less conspicuous. Any thoughts on above? Thank you!
I have the Nanoleaf 4D and I must have gotten a dud because I find it anything but immersive. Far too finicky to set up too, having to switch to 2.4ghz and multiple resets before I could actually get it all up and working. . With Govee products I have for example, you can set them up using bluetooth which is just easier. With HUE products I have you just plug them in and off you go, but they are admittedly far more expensive. The only true positive I have regarding the Nanoleaf 4D is that the camera is very discreet, especially if you put it on the TV stand as opposed to the mount on top of the TV.
@@AlexTeo lol no that’s the brands name “Fancy LEDs” it’s very similar to goveee and lytmi but it doesn’t require a camera to display color just hdmi 2.1 or 2.0 (depending on the model you get)
You are wrong about the Hue sync box, it does support 2.1 hdmi. I bought it and put it into my ps5 setup, now when i play games 120fps,60, or vrr all work perfectly, i think it was added by an update it really works. All you have to turn off in the ps5 settings is the ALLM, but leave vrr on naturally. Other than that it works and the sync is phenomenal. And if someone has a problem that the tv will sometime flicker black and then on again, just turn down the 4k transfer rate to -2 on the ps5, it doesn't effect the 120fps,vrr or anything with the hue sync box, but it solves the flicker problem. Hope this helps, i only wanted to share this. Love you video ;)
Nice review, thanks for making this ! I maybe missed that part, but which one would you point as the brightest among them ? As much as I would enjoy the ambilight effect, I would also like to use it as a subdued light source for the room. I'm actually trying to figure out which one between the hue ambiance play gradient (7 zones for 1230lm @4000k) or the gradient (3 zones up to 1800lm @4000k) would fit better for this multi-purpose task. (but still have an eye open on other brands)
In the end I went for the govee one (the T1Pro pack 1+1 deal just was too good to miss), and it works really well for our 30m² living room as a chill but bright end-of-day light. Leaving this feedback here for others eventually
Because the car majority of movies are shown in letterbox format i can't see the point in lights at all it just makes the letterbox stick out more in a dark room
Hello, first of all, thank you for the review. I own TCL C745 Google TV. I am using Playstation 5. 120 hz, dolby vision and hdr are important to me. I saw that there was a problem with the HDR colors of the Lytmi Fantasy 3 model. For example, when HDR is on, the rear LEDs show red colors as orange. I'm very confused, I think a model with a camera is best.
Ive done exatcly that , get 3 play bars though for the bottom as the top edge of the strip has 3 ZONES so 3 play bars MATCH IT . Phillips now also do the HUE Gradient light tube for the Bottom edge but im not sure if it can be mount to the back of tv . Most have it on a unit below as you can twist and aim the tube up or down etc .
@AlexTeo oh I'm just wondering if i can connect my current lightstrip with the control box for the camera. That way i don't have to put the lightstrip on the back of my tv again

Philips hue can obviously make an app for older model smart TVs. For now I'm going through my ps5 for Netflix in order to get the syncing to work. It works fine.
Can you kindly tell me how to do this
No they can't, you need the app to be able to grab and analyse the video signal, which is not possible on android based TV for example
@tiloalo intech today. Anything is possible. They can figure it out.
@oreosk8ter they would need Google to provide support for that, which they don't and do not want over privacy concerns (as any app could check what you're watching and use it for ads purpose for example). So it's very unlikely to come short term.
Having the phillips hue, I believe the colours have a better gradient effect to them and “blends”
On the other hand the other brands, the colours seem to separate…
Nanoleaf is the worst option.
I go for Nanoleaf 4D! I have it, and the colors are stunning. It syncs perfectly with my TV and super easy to set up too. Highly recommend it!
It looks like a Christmas tree garland.
In the video it looked like the nanoleaf wasn't as bright as the others based on how far the light spread across the wall behind. Do you feel that was an accurate representation?
What size of tv? The camera is a pin to setup
I have the nano leaf and after looking at others I am very happy with my choice. The camera has a very small footprint when putting it on the bottom and the colour projection is rich and vibrant, especially for gaming. AND the room itself is lit by hue light strips in the left and right side and all of these lights sync with the movie light making it a whole room experience. if it wasn't for sync box not being hdmi 2.1 I'd say its the clear winner everytime other than cost.
thanks for sharing!

One workaround I did was to install mirror strips at the back of the TV and it helped to reflect light and amplify the diffusion effect
thanks for sharing
Just got an LG C3. Wonder if you know best settings for PS5, Xbox & Switch?
Wait....so what would you say is the best color to have on the wall behind the tv??
@@youtubesuxnow8766
White of course, its a neutral color that would accurately depict the colors of the leds.
Just curious did you have the mirror strips right next to the lights
The Govee G1 strip that uses their desktop app to sync looks great for PC gaming. Some users are reporting issues with the Govee software though.

Hey. Thanks for including T2. No matter the final outcome, huge thanks for including Govee and hope you’re enjoying all our products. Cheers!
Are you engineer at Govee?
Hey can I connect the govee to a smart plug? I want to set an automation where if the tv turns off then also turn off govvee I think i read it doesn’t have auto shut off?
@ sure. Of course you’d be able to plug it into a smart plug and it would turn off when the smart plug switches off.
Nice video btw & much appreciated to see the comparisons in a single video.
thanks for sharing your experience
I was opposite I thought the govee was terrible so I got another hue sync box and gradient strip for the bedroom.
@nissan300zxtt9 doesn't have 120hz or vrr
I have Nanoleaf 4D and honestly its actually good! Pretty cheap compared to hue and the app has many cool features!
yeah very affordable which is very unlike nanoleaf haa
On sale for £72 direct atm, think I’m going to try it
I’ve had Phillips hue from day one and couldn’t ever think of moving to a different one the only thing I wish is that Phillips would update there sync box to 120hz with a update or a new sync box for 120hz because the best I can get is between 80hz and a 100hz at best at 4k on my ps5
I think they have now , think its a new . HDMI 2.1 which is 120hz i believe.

@@AlexTeothey use the latest LG OLED panels, so they're arguably the best screens available. The built-in LED system is more complex than the Hue Play Gradient Light step, with each segment containing multiple LEDs that emit multiple colors at different depths to create a layered series of auras around the TV.
I have one too, bought it when they first came out. Sadly, they don’t make them anymore.
I love the 4d nanoleaf. Its just hands down way better.. but when i sync it with my pc its flawless..
I bought Govee 3 lite. I am very pleased with it. The light strips have vivid colors and work very well with the TV. I recommend it.

The FancyLed is the best sync box out right now hands down ❤
Ive just brought the Govee 3 lite really happy with it all tho i had an isssue connecting it to the wifi however the tech team were very supportive and responded quickly. The only negative feedback i would give is i found the adhesive not very strong so had problems sticking the box the led clips to the back of my tv. But really happy with the set up.

Great vid buddy, I already purchased the Govee T2 but before installing it just checking a few tutorial vids and then this comparison vid popped up, looks like my initial research paid off and the Govee is the one, I’m really not bothered by the big camera tbh, waited for Black Friday & picked the 55” version T2 for £89.99 pretty happy I waited 👌
nice!
I'm down the same rabbit hole as well. Bought an 85 inch and ordered the t2. I thoughf about t3, but the comments and everyone was saying t2 is more brighter/more color..... I'm patiently waiting and just binge watching UA-cam lol

One thing you can do with any sync box is run a 4k/8k hdmi splitter so that the video signal doesn't have to run through the sync box to the tv
HUE the best among all in terms of quality, but unfortunately very expensive. I'll anyway buy it for my Samsung TV.
Thank you once again for your review!
nice hope you will like the product
How's it so far? Why not go for govee?
So if ambilight is a factor for your purchase - go spend the money on a Philips tv.
provided you are ok with the specs and performance of the philips tv and you don't have any other smart lights that you want to sync with
I dont agree , the phillips hue gradient strip is pretty much identicle to their ambilight tv's with the added bonus that , if and when the lights break you can just buy a new strip . If they go in the ambilight TV your probably done for lol .
@@nissan300zxtt9if the tv ambilight will break you could also buy a strip from Philips, so that’s not a problem 😂
Good vid. Small comment: at the end of the video when rating the 4 devices... why did you display Govee and Nanoleaf for the last 2? First put govee... then put nanoleaf.
My opinion the Govee is the best.
I summarized based on the different types of solution, both govee t2 and nanoleaf 4d are camera based sync
Fortunately I just got the monthly subscription and after some months of trying it and waiting for an update with bug fixes, I decided to order the Hue Sync Box 8K, it is too expensive for what it offers, but I prefer something expensive that actually works over a buggy app.
thanks for sharing your experience! I actually didn't encounter any of the issues you mentioned 😆
Or just do what I did
Buy a Philips TV
They are good tvs too and the light are already integrated
The only thing that I don’t like is that is only 3 sides and not all 4 sides
I used to do lighting for theatre and the Phillips hue lights seem to diffuse way better with how it blends. Almost seamless…the rest, I just can’t help but be distracted and I can’t have that. I don’t mind the camera however the lights on the other seem so abrupt with the edges of the colors almost clashing
yup 100% true
You have the same voice as Datohleong.. Are you two the same person ?
You did a nice job showing the installation for some of the lights, but I would’ve loved to see what the Nanoleaf installation looks like on the back of the TV. You showed us that Govvee doesn’t have corner lights to make it easier to stick on. Does Nanoleaf have that? Based on how you were speaking, it sounded like Govvee does and Nanoleaf doesn’t. So how do you easily stick on the Nanoleaf thing around corners?
nanoleaf is a straight through normal LED strip so at the 4 corners, the strip is not stick to the TV as you need to turn the strip, they do provide some corner brackets but they are not very useful
just buy a Philips tv with build in ambilight. the lights will work even when using apps on the tv. (netflix/youtube etc)

Hey brother quick question What options do I have available if I have a Samsung Smart TV and want to watch movies through apps like Prime, Paramount + Tubi, etc. and still get the same effect?
all except for lytmi
Main problem I see with Lytmi is that it won't really work with built-in TV functions - such as streaming apps or TV (if you use built in tuner), cause then there is no HDMI input
That is why I always thought about camera-based solutions. But now I learned about the Philips Hue from you and it seems like it should be able to work with any source, so it could be the nicest solution - no camera, fully software based. A shame they have such restrictive licensing policy.
HDMI sync box solutions don't won't with native tv apps, yup hopefully they do something about the way they license
Great video, as always! Would you recommend this set up for a frame TV (e.g. the Samsung Frame TV)? I have one at home and am wondering if this backlight goes well with the 'painting'-like quality of the frame TV.
the samsung frame tv is flushed with the wall, there is no space for you to stick a light strip

Where??
Yes they have or updated them as HDMI 2.1 is now supported .

Yes
you need to find a way to secure it especially for very thin bezel
Yes would work , you could prop it up woth the sound bar or something atc and in the govee app when setting up you can switch position to top or bottom for the camera.

Thank you!
nope it won't compromise, as mentioned hdmi sync box don't work on tv native apps so if that's something you are looking for then the lytmi is out
I see. Thanks for the clarification!
The only true positive I have regarding the Nanoleaf 4D is that the camera is very discreet, especially if you put it on the TV stand as opposed to the mount on top of the TV.

philips hue has sync box and tv app solution
Can you use the Philips light strip with the lytmi box. The Philips light looks like a USB c
i don't think that's possible
The Philips hue looks really clean because of the lack of hub and stuff

Ive done exatcly that , get 3 play bars though for the bottom as the top edge of the strip has 3 ZONES so 3 play bars MATCH IT . Phillips now also do the HUE Gradient light tube for the Bottom edge but im not sure if it can be mount to the back of tv . Most have it on a unit below as you can twist and aim the tube up or down etc .
why is having a camera a concern for govee but not for the nanoleaf?
It is for both
I just made my own using Hyperion and a pi 4 sk6812 144 strip
Nice!
can the govee camera go on the bottom if your tv is not wall mounted
yes
I already bougth a light strip without the camera. Would it still work with my curretn light strip from govee?
Packaging includes lightstrip, don't think you can buy the camera alone
@AlexTeo oh I'm just wondering if i can connect my current lightstrip with the control box for the camera. That way i don't have to put the lightstrip on the back of my tv again
Hello, great video! I have a question
If i have a samsung tv is it enough to only get the phillips light (i mean without that sync box and the white thing) and just upload the phillips app on the tv?(and do i have to also pay for the app?
yup as mentioned in the video
@@AlexTeo thank you, i just wanted to make extra sure cause that sync box is not cheap 😅
@@AlexTeo hi again , apparently the philips hue app is only available on limited tvs , do you think they are gonna include more samsung tvs any time soon (or in the future)
Can i program the time when the nanoleaf lights turns on and off? Or i have to do it manually all the time?
You can also create automation such that whenever tv is off, then off the backlight
Would have liked to have heard your preference.
i prefer no cameras so it will be the philips hue solution if cost is not a factor
@@AlexTeo Fancy Leds Sync box, you should try that one, philips hue is insanelu expensive and honestly not that good imo
@@_TragicFlaw they are a new player in this space, its a HDMI sync box solution, also based on tuya so its pretty similar to lytmi which I am using for my PS5 setup. HDMI sync box has its limitations and cons as covered in the video
I didn't know this was a thing until now
HyperHDR + PicCap >
Under 50$ and works with system apps too. (LG TVs)
Alex, another question, Wich one will you choose between Govee t2 and nanoleaf 4D ? Thanks
depends whether you have govee or nanoleaf products and whether you need the extra smart home integrations
@@AlexTeo right now haven't any govee or nanoleaf products, integrations doesn't matter
@@Jubeihong so just in terms of colors, i prefer govee
thanks man, Ive ordered already, you have a great channel@@AlexTeo
can you place the nanoleaf camera on top of the sound bar which is below the TV?
Great comparison video
