Philips did it, but they were before their time and people weren’t ready. Now I think we could see it coming back as more people buy LEDs.

I’m using Govee light strips for my TV that are Alexa enabled. I used a 16 ft one to zigzag the strip through the middle to throw as much light as possible at the wall because the tv is in the corner of the room

Thanks Craig…great info. I’ve put a set of Nanoleaf strips on three of our TV’s….I’ve found that the adhesive gets gummy and loses it’s “stickiness” sooner rather than later….I tried command strips and hooks…after over a year still working, although not the prettiest look from behind…but oh well.

What about the Phillips hue lights with the box for the tv that goes with it??? Have you used that before and do you have a video on it if so??? I know they’re pretty expensive but they seem to be really good.

As a Hue enthusiast I was stoked when they released their gradient TV lightstrips last year, but the price of them just puts me off, especially when I see the prices of Nanoleaf like in your video here. As Nanoleaf works with Homekit I would be willing to try them - considering they are £40 for 2 metres compared to the £143.99 price tag for the 55" Hue lightstrip (Amazon)! It's a shame because I really do like Hue and I have a lot of their products here at home, but £144 for a TV lighstrip puts me off. Thank you for the video Craig, always good to be educated on cheaper alternatives!

    • @CraigsTechTalk

Thank you Rebecca. I too wanted to do the gradient strips. But they were ridiculously overpriced with the sync box. It is disappointing. that is why I waited so long to redo mine. I debated buying the gradient or trying to work with Hue on a video. ultimately the Nanoleaf are great for my white light use and Apple’s home HomeKit. thank you for watching and sharing your experience.

    Great stuff! Love Nanoleaf strips.
My only concern is trying to do this with a bigger, heavier TV. Not sure I want to try to lay it down - doing it upright may be trickier.
Odd autofocusing on your camera - you weren't even close to the camera. Might want to check the gear.
Wondering what you think of Govee's Bias Lighting kit with the camera?

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  8 місяців тому +1

Very cool. Glad you like them. I have done it on a 75” TV laid on a blanket on the carpet. Then a 65” on the dining room table. Upright is tricky.
My camera locked focus on a light stand that was in the shot. It’s annoying that it happened.
As for Govees kit, it is fun to use. The colors are great on it. The camera does a pretty good job of copying what it sees. But the white light is not great. Especially when compared to Nanoleaf.

Hi Craig! So, you say that the Nanoleaf Essentials Strip does not work with Alexa? The store page's text must be in error, then - indeed, I also don't see the template there which says, more or less, "This works with your device," so I am inclined to agree.
I am going to get my first Nanoleaf Shapes Mini Triangles Smarter Kit (which does have that template on their page) next month to go behind my monitor for that sweet sweet bias lighting - the fact that they can react to my games or whatever is going on on my computer is a great thing as well, and what I looked at first, but bias lighting for HEALTH reasons is wonderful. Have you any experience with these?
Great video, Craig! Keep it up.

    • @CraigsTechTalk

You put it on the stand to put them on. Just brace the screen as you put the strips on. What you could do to lay the strips out on the box the TV came in.
You can figure out what you need and let them warm up. Then when they are warm and have you have a plan, you can put them on the tv while it’s on the stand. Nice job checking to verify your TV.

Also highly recommend that you don’t listen to your wife. Mine pointed out that you could see some of the individual LEDs shining on the wall - just a few on the sides since ours is mounted in a corner. I “tried” to fix it by attempting to re-place the strips further inside (towards the middle of the tv) and ended up tearing the strip. So, just dont listen to your wives. You do you 😂
