Just got a 2011 is250 and the wife is complaining about the breaks not being the best. Took it for a test drive and it can definitely get more stopping power for sure. Gonna go the same route too. Thanks for the video and the details.
I don’t know since I really did this DIY to show the process. I have not had IS250 brakes for 11 years. I recently upgraded the IS350 to GS350 14” F-Sport brakes. More for aesthetics as the 350 is more than needed. It will reduce fade and provide a much firmer pedal and feel especially for the spirited brakers.
Lmao idk if you remember me but I’m the guy from the Facebook GC with the non moving car due to the AWD rotor problem. I’m glad you made a video teaching people how to do it so they don’t have to go through what I had to go through.

Love the way that you recorded this with a second camera looking from under the car. Beware that there are shims between the caliper and the aluminum knuckle. They tend to stick to the caliper when separated, but may also fall onto the ground. Nice to work on a clean car like that. You clearly do not live in the rust belt.
Tuner with Kids lol. I always found it difficult to get a pair of big brakes form the 350, gs350, or even the ls460 in my area. And eBay is really expensive. Where did you get yours?

Parts are basically same except you have to get 2012+ USA Spec 350 rotors, those are AWD compatible. Else you can find GS or newer IS350 AWD rotors. You can sell cause the hub area is vented in the back vs. RWD that is vent up on front side. I'll post some links in the video to some AWD rotors.
These were repainted. When I painted them, the OEM coating was almost impossible to remove, even with aircraft paint stripper but wouldn’t come off. I just prepped and painted with base coat and clear coat.
@@HUIzanoNA like aftermarket calipers? Or pads/rotors? For all the IS’ there’s four OEM caliper and brake upgrades which are cheap. They put the price back to normal now of $372 and $348, respectively.
Great tutorial!! I really want to do this upgrade. I have a question though, I have a RWD 2011 is250, does it matter what year is350 brakes I get and do the break have to come from a RWD model as well???
Rock auto, eBay (check link in description), or local part store. The calipers are same from 2006 to present and used in GS and RC so plentiful. Average price is $75-$80 each plus return an old core.

For AWD, you use the same calipers but you will need AWD IS350 rotors from 2011+ or GS350 AWD rotors. They need to clear the axles on the back side, you can tell the AWD rotors cause the front is hub area is closed vs. the RWD like mine. I think if you order 2012 USA spec IS350 rotors, they will be the AWD versions.
Thanks again for an awesome video. Do the rear brakes on the 350 fit the is250 as well? If so, I hope you make a video on the rear too someday! Thanks!
They fit and it’s literally a bolt on if you get the full caliper and bracket. Just need to bend the dust shields back. It uses same pads on slightly larger caliper and vented rotors.
@Binh-Tuner with Kids hi, just found your video. I have the is350 f sport sedan 2016 but my brake stopping power is not great. I'm guessing, since I already have the bigger rotars, the only upgrade I can do is the brake pads?
Do you really need the shield for the backing? What will happen if you don't put the shield? I just thought that it looks nicer without it and more cooling I would think?
You can use the 250 one and trim and bend to fit. Don’t remove all together because the hub needs that as a spacer. Another guy I saw on FB took it off and the rotor was rubbing the calipers.
They are all over the internet. Check my links in description. You can also check rock auto or local parts stores. They ar $75-$90 for rebuilt but have to return the old core.

Each time feels like brake pads shaked . I even bleed the caliper. Every bolt was tightened and double checked. I’m at a loss and about to shake the hub too right after the bleed the whole system. Any thoughts or solutions?
Did you check make sure there isn’t any damage to the hub assembly? You can try to unbolt that and make sure there is no visible damage. Only other thing might be worn bearings.
you have to measure hub runout... it cannot be bigger than 0.02mm... you should clean your hub perfectly, same measurement with disc mounted.. you have to measure it again, disc runout cannot be bigger than 0.05. If your hub is not perfect (runout bigger than 0.02mm) try positioning the disc another way and measure again..maybe you will be able to compensate both runouts hub/disc and stay
@@TunerwithKids Another question, what about the bolts and nuts. Which should use the Is250 or Is350. I have heard that the thread is not the same as the long ones
They stock or rebuilt versions from auto parts store will be grey wrinkled coating. Or bare painted silver. You need to get them painted or powdercoat and put a Lexus sticker on.
Thanks for the tutorial - I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this swap for a while and you’ve cleared up a bunch of questions I had. I do have one question for you: does the OE IS250 brake master cylinder have any issue keeping up with the dual piston caliper? Or do you recommend upgrading that as well?
Hey, Tuner I’m interested in doing the IS 250 to 350 caliper swap but I would like to also swap the the rear calipers as well. What’s the process on the rears if you have any idea? Or planning on doing the same as well. Thanks
What year is yours? The upgrade isn’t that significant so unless you need calipers and rotors, not really worth it. The IS350 parts bolt up, the dust shield needs to be bent since there isn’t an easy way to remove, plus the part is over $250/each.
If you already have then it’s bolt on. Make sure you have the brackets too. Need a set of is350 vented rotors and you are good. It uses the same pad as IS250.
@@TunerwithKids Thank you for replying! My question is that will 350s rear rotor fit my 250 awd rear without replacing the caliper ? what bracket you are talking about? Can I find it in any of your videos?

Yea it will fit. All 13.1 monoblock brake calipers from 06 to present are the same. It said not compatible probably cause you put 250. Since you are upgrading to 350, need to assume you have a 350.
All years from 2006 to present will work. All rotors too. The ones to be careful of is if yours is an AWD, then you will need certain year rotors to fit.
Hey question, I’m on rock auto trying to order a rear and front set of rotors for 2012 is350 and there different colors lol. We’re you able to find the same color?
It’s all random based on brand and grade. Best bet if you want to match is to sand and paint the center hub areas in a high heat black. It will protect from corrosion. All other areas of the rotor will rust anyway.
Hi, this might be a stupid question but.. can you confirm that the diameter of the is350 rotors is 334mm? I'm having trouble finding the dimensions. Thanks

Silly question.. are the caliper brackets the same? Can you reuse the is250 ones?
No but the mounting points are same.
@@TunerwithKids so I have to find brackets too for the 350 calipers?
@gerrymcconnell93 no, did you watch the video and see how it was installed? The 350 is a monoblock caliper. It just bolts on.
Sorry. I wasn't paying full attention. My apologies
So I would need 350 Pads as well? I’m assuming I order Pads, Rotors, calipers, dust shield and I can do this myself?
Yes. Need pads and rotors for 350 in brand of your choice.
Where do I get the same black lexus calipers for my front and rear like the one you installed on your vehicle ?
Paint or powdercoat.
@@TunerwithKids where can i buy the same black lexus calipers though ?
They stock or rebuilt versions from auto parts store will be grey wrinkled coating. Or bare painted silver. You need to get them painted or powdercoat and put a Lexus sticker on.
Thanks for the tutorial - I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this swap for a while and you’ve cleared up a bunch of questions I had.
I do have one question for you: does the OE IS250 brake master cylinder have any issue keeping up with the dual piston caliper? Or do you recommend upgrading that as well?
They use the same MC.
Tuner with Kids 06 Lexus IS 250. I already have the Rear calipers from a IS 350.
If you already have then it’s bolt on. Make sure you have the brackets too. Need a set of is350 vented rotors and you are good. It uses the same pad as IS250.
Do you know if this big brake upgrade fits on IS - 2014 and up ?
Yea. IS has same front brakes since 2006
I have 18s but after market
Hey binh, so I can run any rotor/caliper setup from 2006-2023? I have a rwd 2011 is250
Yes. All the same calipers and brakes.
Hello, Binh!
Mine is 2006 is250 awd, and I wonder if a 2012+ 350 rear rotor direct fit to my rear? Thanks!
Rear rotor is same for all 350s. It will fit fine. Make sure calipers come with new bigger matching brackets.
@@TunerwithKids Thank you for replying! My question is that will 350s rear rotor fit my 250 awd rear without replacing the caliper ? what bracket you are talking about? Can I find it in any of your videos?
@@jiechen7732 you need calipers and rotors.
@@TunerwithKids thank you so much!
I’m doing this with my is250 will my OEM rims still fit? 18”
Yes that’s fine. Even the 17s for the IS fit.
im confused about the rotor part? I wanna do this to my 2011 is250 AWD but I cant use is350 rotors?
You need AWD 350 rotors.
@TunerwithKids gotcha, after further investigation this whole process just seems like a huge headache trying to find everything.
Dude it’s the easiest bolt on change ever. Order some rebuilt calipers from Rock Auto. Buy some IS350 USA spec 2014+ rotors (they are same as AWD). Get pads you like and go.
@TunerwithKids I will continue with my search 🫡 thank you for the assistance, im new to this.
Cardone 2 PCS Front Left & Right Disc Brake Calipers For 2006-2007 Lexus GS430 Will work on an IS250 2014 Base Model? I put my vehicle on eBay and it says not compatible, but When I put 2014 IS350 it says compatible. Any help? Thanks!
Yea it will fit. All 13.1 monoblock brake calipers from 06 to present are the same. It said not compatible probably cause you put 250. Since you are upgrading to 350, need to assume you have a 350.
Tuner with Kids okay so I found my nearest junkyard has a Lexus GS350. Will I be able to use those if I take them out?
Yea. As long as it has the Advic monoblock calipers still on it.
I have an 09’ IS250 RWD...what year IS350/GS350 brake system should I get? Or what years are interchangeable to install on the IS250.
All years from 2006 to present will work. All rotors too. The ones to be careful of is if yours is an AWD, then you will need certain year rotors to fit.
why dont you turn the wheel to make it easy
Hey question, I’m on rock auto trying to order a rear and front set of rotors for 2012 is350 and there different colors lol. We’re you able to find the same color?
It’s all random based on brand and grade. Best bet if you want to match is to sand and paint the center hub areas in a high heat black. It will protect from corrosion. All other areas of the rotor will rust anyway.
Hi, this might be a stupid question but..
can you confirm that the diameter of the is350 rotors is 334mm? I'm having trouble finding the dimensions.
Thanks
That sounds correct. It’s 13.1 inch so whatever that equals in mm.
Can I use Centric rotors on my 2012 AWD IS250, or will I have to use the OEM Lexus ones you linked?
You can use any 2014+ USA spec rotor for AWD. Don’t make mistake of using RWD on earlier years.
Quick question what about the rear is it the same caliper and disc size in the rear for the 350 n 250
No. Same pads different size calipers and rotors. Plus vented on 350
Thank you
Hello
I have a 2008 IS250 RWD, which brake calipers can I look for and which ones fit perfectly?
Thanks
Everything I showed will work and bolt on.
thank you
is that brake line from the 350 as well? my 2006 is250 brake line does not have that extra arm attatched to it that feeds that second inlet beside the banjo bolt on the caliper..... can anyone help with this?
The OEM line has the arm. If yours is missing, it’s probably aftermarket replacement. They use same line between 250 and 350
@@TunerwithKids thank you so much for your reply i could not find this info anywhere and i was nervous to do the job with the wrong hardware! also i have never had a youtuber actually reply to a question before so again thank you so much. I love your content you have some crazy talent when it comes to working on cars. i watch your channel and i think life goals.
Just did the job today but my rear fittings going into my brake lines were seized so im going to have to cut it back flare it and put a new fitting on and hope there is enough slack in the line to just re-attatch it
Where did you get your backing plates. I can’t find any junk yard with 350s. Is there a website you got them from or are there website where you can get them from? How were you able to get your hands on them?
Try Bell Lexus Parts in Scottsdale, probably best value and free shipping for $100+. I’ve been getting all my hard to find OEM parts there. The dust shields are like $45/each.
@@TunerwithKids awesome thank you so much!
Planning to do this on my 2012 is250 AWD, I purchased some is350 front calipers, what year rotors should I run? 2012 AWD gs350 rotors? Don’t want to mess up and get the wrong rotors
2012 USA spec IS350 fit both AWD and RWD.
Could I downgrade my 350 rotors and calipers to 250's? For weight savings.
Yea but why. If you watch my other video, the 350 is actually same or lighter. Since they are case aluminum.
i dodnt see after but do you need to run spacers because the caliper is bigger or does the wheel clear enough for the caliper ?
OEM 17 and 18 fit.
Hi...I am from Malaysia. May i know what is the size (diameter) of the IS350 rotor?
I just upgraded my Malaysia's version Toyota Camry XV50 stock front brake to bbk, using Advics caliper maybe from Lexus GS350 or IS350 (i guess, not really sure because it is an imported used one) with 355 mm rotor, and the rotor is really heavy compared to the stock rotor...
356mm is the OEM GS350 4-piston brakes.
@@TunerwithKids alright tq
IS your car an AWD, if not, do those brake dust sheilds fit 250 AWD for this upgrade? Also where did you get the decals for the refurb calipers? Thanks
I’m RWD. Not sure on what shield are needed for AWD. You can probably order the newer IS350 AWD shields. Decals can be found all over eBay for like $5.
@@TunerwithKids Thanks, going with 2012 IS350 AWD Shields for 06 IS250 AWD -> 350 upgrade kit. will report back fitment.

Ive recently bought a 07 is250 manual & its really helpful to see owners working on their car's themselves
Could you point out where exactly are the lift & jacking points on the car. Im too scared to jack it up atm cos i dont know exactly where is safe
Thanks
Mike (AU) :)
Hi Binh
Thanks big time for showing where to jack up the car. That magnetic puck is brilliant. Big Thanks my man
Cheerio & keep up the excellent work 😀👍
Do u need brackets when upgrading the 2nd Gen IS 250 to the 350 calipers pads and rotors??
What pads are best for daily Alkabono??
What would I recommend for complete brake upgrade??
Did you watch video? It’s 100% bolt on.
I have a 2014 is250 base model, what year 350 calipers will work?
2006 to now. All the same calipers for IS/RC/GS350
@@TunerwithKids have you had an issue when turning full left there is a grinding noise on the passenger front. There is no dust shield and wheel hub bearing was just replaced.
Idk what that would be. Might be other suspension hitting. Look for signs of that when wheels are off.
@@TunerwithKids I figured it out, the rotor is hitting the caliper. Do you think removing the dust plate would cause misalignment for the rotor?
Possibly because it provides about a 1/16” spacer on the hub.
Quick question can I still the same rotors that the oem brake system of the is250 has? I'm asking because I purchased drilled rotors for the 250 and don't wanna have to spend more cash on rotors
Never just got the part where it says they're about an inch difference
why you did not measure the hub and disc runout???? I also tough that the hub needs to be cleaned (surface) from the surface rost? I am just upgrading my is250 with 350 calipers but I am worried about the runout.... and my hub was stuck as f**.... I managed to press it out using 2 screws and pushing against the old rotor and the caliper mount "ears" (sorry for my english) .. hope did not damage anything.
My car is a FL car, so no rust of corrosion to deal with. That minor surface rust isn't anything as it will happen to cars anywhere due to the iron rotors and steel hubs.
Hey there I was wondering if u could help
Not sure if I saw but are the pads the same for IS 250 or if I go with bigger calipers I need the pads for the GS 350 F sport??
Also anything else important I need to change??
Will it cause and abs or brake waring lights??
GS350 is same pad as IS350. 250 is a different pad.
