I bought my dream muscle car, a 84 monte carlo and couldnt wait to take it out and drive it. I did a oil change and checked the tranny fluid (while it was off) and i took it out hot rodding it, and the tranny was slipping because it really didnt have the sufficient fluid level. so i was revving my engine a little harder to try and limp it home and blew the engine as well.

Resale value is higher but so is the loss in value. Also not necessarily a better ride either. Modern tech and better fuel mileage, yes. Hondas have a decent resale value but so does Lexus.

One often overlooked mod IMO is oem sized 2piece floating rotors. The IS350 already comes with stock 4 piston caliper Big Brake Kit and large 330mm stock rotors. The only problem is the stock rotors are heavy 24 pounds each. 2 piece rotors with aluminium hats are much lighter around 12 pounds each. Switching to 2 piece rotors immediately takes off 24 pounds of unsprung weight from the front of the IS350, improving braking and most importantly, ride and handling, all without even touching your springs and shock absorbers or chassis.
Shes perfect. Simplicity is the key to these amazing cars, some people rice them out and make them look, sound and run horrible. Props for doing all the right things

the is250 is never gonna be powerful but if you focus on cutting weight and tuning the suspension....it will feel like a totally different car. i believe the recipe for the 2IS 250/350 is exhaust, drop in filter,rr tune, coilovers, front/rear sway bar, and LCA bushings/mounts

And yes, they can be modified as little or as much as you like, but the turbo kit alone is typically in the $5000 to $7,000 range and that's not including any supporting mods. The 250 can be made fun to drive and even be called quick at times but there simply is no replacement for displacement. Anybody with a brain is going to say that 20k would be better spent picking up a 350

Bought my used 2014 IS350 F-sport about 3 years ago. I've had alot of cars, but must say these IS's are just all around great cars. Just does everything well, enough power, good ride, reliable, easy to drive..etc. They are worth a look if you're interested in one. Peace!

My favorite one is the 7400rpm OV tune for sure. That's the one I've enjoyed most so far. Following that I'd say invidia midpipe combined with manzo exhaust even though manzo exhaust makes the car still kind of quiet.

@senorbonbon RR racing won't give you any power gains just the advantage of a higher limiter that will help with longer gears. I've been custom tuned to rev to 7600rpm with burbles for 2 years and haven't had an issue yet.
Rusty battery earth point needs removing, wire brush on drill to clean up, copper grease before refit. Replace all brake pins front and rear because they seize / warp / bad rubber after 100k. ABS sensor cables can fail not the sensor, check for voltage first. make sure the oil filter cap has a metal tube attached inside, They can come loose, end up in the old filter and in the bin by mistake. This will make the new filter squash and twist causing low oil pressure. Check the steering wheel down shaft UJ pinch bolts are fully tight and pinched together (above where your feet go drivers side.) They come loose making wheel play. Always reset SAS / torque sensor after wheel alignment or it will feel odd (Electronic steering)

I used to have second gen IS ( unfortunately with diesel engine ) and itnwas great. Mine was 2012 model and it had bluetooth module in it from factory which allows to play music from your phone.

Bro this car does do BlueTooth media streaming audio... you just have to register your device in the settings and sound section on head unit ... go to portable media player and register your phone... no dongle is required to do this it can do this as well as use it as a phone for calling. I have both set on my unit

Replace the spark plugs pretty easy a man says 😅😅 on the 2nd gen IS350 the right bank of plugs are under the intake manifold. Now that's plastic part you don't wanna break by overtorquing
Next upgrade is taking off the ISF duck tail and replacing it with the Clinch duck tail on my 07 IS250. The tail sit higher, adds more flares, aggressiveness and looks better than the ISF duck tail in my opinion.
I have heard that the Injen and KN cone intakes lose power according to dynos. I stuck with the F sport box, drop in filter and the RR Intake tube which is carbon fiber and doesn’t get very hot, which equals cooler air and potentially more power. I also like how it looks lol.
I could make a general car one, which would get more views I'd assume, but I like to focus on what I know - the Lexus IS - and point out specific parts and upgrades that are popular for this model of Lexus. But yeah, most of these can be applied to any modified car.
Most mods are universal really. Like turbo kits that are not "plug and play", as in you will always have to look for other parts like injectors, get a custom exhaust for the setup etc. It's because it's customization and everyone has different tastes and needs.
Very helpful suggestions to bring any Lexus up to par with additional features! I've actually topped out on what you said with the exception of the rear defuser and stability bars. My next update will be a new a RR-RACING carbon airflow tube!
General belief says that strut towers actually stiffen the car but its a double edge sword. If whatever reason you crash into a kerb, the chassis will twist thanks to the strut tower braces. You got to take into account that these will basically "connect" both tyres, look at it like this, if one side is independently under compression, the other shock will try to balance the car for better handling, but if you connect both sides one side will compress while they other side is going to rebound in a much more unefficient way. They only help with tension or compression according on how you operate your car. If you ever consider turning your car to a race car (if thats what you want), consider gutting out chassis glue and weld the parts for stiffness, no strut brace will compare if you do this correctly.

Trust me if you have a is250, swap your OEM for the OEM is350 fuel injectors and you’ll gain around 15-20 hp

@Casper Gomez no mods..only thing I've changed were the front brake pads to Akebono. Stock F-Sport pads only last 20k and are super dusty.

Yup, better to do it before installing/out of the car. It is sealed from behind, so can't access it from the hood.

Similar mods, just more expensive and harder to find, like the cars themselves.

How much power did it add?
What to do?
1 - Change intake filter(only the filter, do not upgrade it to cold air).
2 - Clean intake sensor.
2.2 - Internal intake clean.
2.3 - Clean or Change Throttle body Valve.
3 - Change Anti Freeze (coolant) liquid = Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (9.1 Liters.).
4 - Change spark plugs if you are having troubles to start the car = DENSO FK20HBR11 = 1.1mm gap = iridium-tipped.
5 - Change Breaker fluid if dirty (FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3.).
6 - Upgrade alternator.
7 - Swap PCV valve.
Additionally after 50k: Differential oil = 1.15 liters. Synthetic 75W-90 Gl-5.
9 - Change Oil Filter = K&N
10 - Change Oil = Synthetic Oil = 5W-30 (6.3 liters).
Automatic Transmission Fluid = 1.8 liters, Toyota Genuine ATF WS.
Clutch fluid = FMVSS No116 DOT 3.
Brake fluid = FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3.
Im thinking of getting the " K&N Engine Air Filter: High Performance" filter would that be a good upgrade for my gs 350?
@@senorbonbon I had it on my 07 accord, makes it a little louder and got a tiny bit better mpg and easy to clean. Would recommend for $60
