    I've spoken with the guys at Ultimate who have informed me that they can and do indeed offer conversions for certain comms units. The Schuberth SC2 has been difficult to do apparently, but the SRL and SRL2 can be done quite easily for them. Drop them an e-mail with the device you have and they will let you know if they can convert the cable for you.

    Absolute game changer. Been using in ear monitors for 4 years. Kills wind fatigue, and removes the harmful frequencies that damage your ears. Side benefit is comms and music is only required to be a 25%…… soft ears and speakers in a helmet are so 2010 lol.
    Ride free guys and gals. ✌🏻🇦🇺

    Another timely video for me, thanks. Recently fitted Bluetooth comms for receiving phone calls and have had to crank the volume to hear through wind noise and basic foam ear plugs. Can't quite justify the top end with speakers but used your code and bought the filtered ones. Hopefully that will allow me to hear calls better and still cut the awful wind noise from tallrounder screen. Cheers. And by the way my basic Sena 10S also has a 3.5 jack socket.

    I have a pair made by a different company - honestly wish I'd gone with Ultimate Ear.
    Whichever brand you buy, though, it's very worthwhile adding a couple of layers of heat shrink tube to the plug and first couple of inches of flylead from the earbuds and the comms unit itself just to protect that part of the cable that's prone to internal breaks.

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  Рік тому

      Thats a good tip thanks, once thing i should have metioned is that these have polyurethane coated cables which stops the cable reacting from going brittle. The stands are Kevlar coated too.

    I ordered a set of these from their stall at the Edinburgh bike show back in March and have been very happy with them. Far superior sound for the intercom and sat nav. I don’t use the phone if I can help it or listen to music on the bike but I’m sure they would be great there as well. I was already a customer as I have had 2 previous pairs from Ultimate Ears and paid about £170 I think. I have a Cardo Freecom 2 intercom and removed the speakers from the helmet and just use these now and got the short cable.

    Have been thinking about these for a while, although I wonder if it’s possible to use an AUX to bluetooth adapter in the 3.5mm jack on the Cardo Packtalk, and have that transmit to a set of the bluetooth headphones. Would make it really handy if you were getting off the bike for a few minutes and wouldn’t have to take the ear plugs out. And of course, can use them for other things too.

    Could you elaborate about the gel? Do you need to put gel on the earplugs before each use? How is gel prevented from being collected inside the ear? How long one gel tube lasts? How much it costs to buy another one?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  6 місяців тому +1

      Sure, I don’t use it everytime, just occasionally when needed. You only put a tiny amount on the plug and it’s a medical grade gel, so you get no build up in the ear. They last for ages and a new tube will cost £6.99 each or £20 for a pack of four

    I have 2 pairs of their custom fit plugs. I find the fully moulded ones move too much when I put my helmet on so I’m guessing these would be the same, but their cut-down ‘sleep’ plugs fit much better. They work well with my SRL-2 system in my GT Air 2 lid.

    • @PovilasPanavas
      @PovilasPanavas 6 місяців тому

      Are you talking about "Side Sleeper Plug"? I think non-side one is of normal side.
      I was thinking to get "Side Sleeper Plug" plug first, try the comfort and if all good then go all out on the Bluetooth Pro (and the Sleeper plug then could be used for sleeping as I anyway always use plugs when sleeping)

      @@PovilasPanavas yeah, they are the ones I’m talking about. They don’t seem to move as much. Also if you apply a small amount of the ‘lube’ that comes with the plugs it seems to create a better seal than without.

    • @PovilasPanavas
      @PovilasPanavas 6 місяців тому

      You can buy Bluetooth receiver for like 15-30 £. The battery will last like 8 hours or something. It will have 3.5mm jack for the wired headphones. And most of those receivers can connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time (there might be a bit of lag between switching). So you could connect phone for musing and garmin XT for navigation at the same time.
      P.S. I haven't tried it personally, but in theory should work.
      Or you can go with Bluetooth versions. Both Bluetooth versions say in description that they are able to pair up to two devices at the same time, thus again, you can listen to music from phone and also navigation from Garmin

      These have inbuilt monitors, but offer 31db of protection, so ambient sound can still be heard. They also make filtered plugs with no internal monitors, and the level of db protection can be chosen. Either 23db or 29db

    Having used custom mould earphones in my helmet and moved to speakers, i can assure you these never work.
    1. Its going to be fiddly in the long run when you have to remember to wear the earplugs before putting on your helmet. Vice versa, youd have to remember to take them off or unplug the earphones before moving your helmet away from you. Else you end up with painful ears
    2. The smallest pull on the wires of these earplugs is going to move it inside your helmet. Now you'd be stuck with the option of pulling over and adjusting OR ride with pain.
    My critic is based on a custom mould earphones that were made to fit my ear i still had issues. Cannot imagine a generic shape working for everyone. These may work good for cars/racing but definitely not for motorcycle

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  Рік тому +5

      Ok, well there's a lot to unpack here, where do I start? Firstly I can assure you that they do, that's why I made the video.
      1. I have found that it's generally best to insert your earplugs before you put a helmet on. That's a little tip you can have for free. If someone can't remember that they're wearing wired earplugs when they take their helmet off, I question if they should be riding a motorcycle anyway.
      2. The wire is very thin, so thin that you don't notice it. The earplugs fit snugly into your ear, almost locking into place in the Concha part of your ear. A slight pull will have no effect, and in practice, you can give it quite a pull and the earplug won't move.
      You've also failed to take into account that these are custom moulded to your ear, they are not a generic fit, I don't understand where you've got that idea from? Maybe I should have spelt that fact out more clearly, but on the basis that the company only make custom moulded plugs, it seems obvious.
