My bumper is very difficult to put back on after installing the grille mesh. What do i need to do?
That's a good question, but I'm not sure I know the answer.
There seems to be some owners that have this issue and others that don't and I can't seem to find a common link between them.
At first I thought there might be a subtle difference in the crash bar position between the 3.8 and 2.0T models but we've seen good installs, as well as super tight fits like what you are describing, on both engine types.
Then we thought it might be a change that was made at some point between years, but the year also doesn't seem to have an effect. Again, we've seen good installs, as well as super tight fits like what you are describing, on all years.
Lastly, we may still think there may be some difference in the trim level, from Base to RSpec, or Ultimate but we don't have enough data to see if that is true.
In short, owners who have had a difficult time getting the bumper back on generally have needed to push the mesh outward a fair bit to get it to clear the crash bar.
At the time we made this video and made the product we had not encountered this issue, and I've still yet to see the problem in person where I can get hands on with it. I'd gladly help with the issue, if you are near West Michigan. If we can find a common link as to why some owners are having this issue and others are not, I would love to get this resolved.
@@customcargrills ok. Well i have the base model. Maybe we can come to a conclusion cause maybe on different trim models you might have to bend the mesh for it to work.

I have a 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Base. I ended up having fitment issues as well. I’d recommend placing weights or some heavy object (I used 10lbs and it wasn’t enough) on center of the mesh grill while the automotive goop is drying. This will allow the mesh to bend outwards a little and make it easier clear the bash bar.
Overall it wasn’t too difficult but it did take some time. I had my gf hold the bumper in place while I was cutting which made it a lot easier.

Ok so the 'uncomfortable cut' for me was not the center bar, but the top portion of the grill as it is connected with the top bumper connection piece. So cut the top grill carefully so you do not damage the top of the bumper section. After sweating 5 buckets of sweat from that cut, I used several dowels in both top/bottom and side to side to pull the grill into the bumper form which is not flat. The toothpick trick is perfect...little blob...dab to bumper...repeat many times, 2x around the edge to ensure it was all covered nicely. The little project came out really nicely and took overall about 3-4 hours of work and 2.5 days cure time for the goop.
Just did mine and it would've came out fantastic but I was completely unaware you need a specific gun for plio grip -__- made all the right cuts had everything ready and was stuck.. had to phone a friend to bring me enough JB weld to build a car 😂😂

yo dude i’m assuming you have a genesis cause you saying thank you to a grill delete of it anyways i have a question i’m thinking of buying it for a first car maybe a 2010 or 2013 coupe what are your thoughts on the car is it or was it a good car or did you run into a lot of problems with it if so what, thanks

Okay please answer this if you can.. for the tabs is it any way that I could mess that up if i don’t cut it down properly? Like I am scared that I will mess up and the mesh grill won’t like fit on it then I could have to buy a whole another bumper and get it painted purple again lmao I would be so mad at myself and the edge part where you used two hands for the dremel to get the other pieces off. Is it easy? Because I know it’s different from watching and doing it. Because I know if i messed up, I cannot even get the parts back on it because it has been cut off of the tabs unless I could put 3M tape? But it looks doable.
I think it's unlikely that someone would mess up the cuts but anything is possible. If the cuts are made too deep, the mesh piece would likely still fit but there would be less of the bumper to glue to at that point. Absolute worst case scenario would be that you could exchange the pre-made piece for an uncut sheet of mesh that you could make your own grille with.

this front bumper is similar to the 2013 elantra coupe. Will this method work with the elantra coupe ?
I wish I had a definitive answer for you but without seeing the bumper here in person, I'm not sure if this method would be applicable or not.
Does this actually help the engine run cooler?
What is the red bar called behind the mesh is it a bash bar? Right before clicking the video Trying to find one only seen for the rear end though

i have 2015 mazda 3 and my grille measurements is 36" x 36" and i cant find a mesh sheet that fits my grille, where can i get it?
I think you might want to re-measure. I highly doubt that there's an opening on there that requires a piece 3 foot tall. From what I can recall it is less than 24" tall, of which we have some mesh pieces that would work with that sizing.
Is it possible to keep the center bar of the grill and mount the mesh behind it?
No, it would not be possible with this specific mesh piece. It would need to be a 2 piece design to do that since the center bar protrudes back towards the engine a fair bit.

Please check the pinned comment for replies about this. Thus far the best common solution was written by an owner who said:
"I am pretty sure this was caused from the initial install of the grill which probably deformed the bumper slightly and makes it really difficult to put back on. I had to put on the bumper sides first, then pull the top over the clips and then the bottom. No removal of the bumper bar or any grinding to anything. Don't crank down the zip ties as this is where the deformation occurs."
Any reason why i couldnt cut this in half essentially to keep the center bumper bar on the exterior and just jb weld a piece for the intercooler section? I want to keep the top and middle of the bumper OEM, i want the exposed intercooler but think itd look cleaner with mesh there in front. I already have the grille, Lmk thanks!

The owner of the vehicle linked had purchased a sheet of mesh and made the set themselves. I don't have all of the details on how it was attached.
I followed all the steps and when I try to mount bumper onto the car it doesn’t do all the way in due to the crash bar being in the way, is that supposed to happen(
It's not supposed to happen, but it does happen from time to time. Please refer to the pinned comment on this video. The replies will have a suggested solution that has worked for many owners.
What front crash bar is shown in the thumbnail? Is it the OEM bar painted red, or custom?

I'd wait a full 24hrs just to be sure it is cured.
Number plate can still be installed after this right?
It could be tied to the mesh, of you can cut a hold for the tow hook and use a plate holder that screws into the tow hook area.

Maybe 🤷♂️ It depends on how hard or soft it cures up as well as how weather resistant it is.

Is it possible to screw down the mesh to the bumper at all?
Not really. There's only a few possible screw mounts on the back of the bumper. Technically they might hold the mesh in place, but it would not look good because the mesh would not be tight up against the back of the bumper. There would be lots of gaps, especially on the sides, and the install overall would not be very strong.
@@customcargrills Ahh gotcha. I want to place an order on this grill. Would it be possible for you guys to make a circle opening for my grimmspeed tow hook license plate rod to insert?
We do plan on adding a tow hook option later. I'll need a local owner though to stop over so that I can line up the hole properly. Until then, we're only offering the full non-tow hook version.
I got it to work , instead of using glue I trimmed just enough of the plastic tabs around that are supposed to be cut off to fit through the holes in the mesh and used tap screws and it worked fine

I don't have a template for that yet, but almost all Hyundai models are on our radar.

Yes, there are plans to add fog light mesh pieces. Probably still a month or two out though.

Do not buy this custom grill, waste of money and completely ruined my bumper, i cut off the entire middle part just for the grill to not allow me to put my bumper back on. Because of this i now have no grill
Feel free to email or call if you need help with the bumper re-installation. The pinned comment on this video and its replies outlines other owners who have difficulties with bumper reinstallation and potential remedies.

Besides the above solution of pushing the mesh forward, other owners have trimmed down the U-shaped metal bar that is on top of the crash bar to get the bumper on.
Other owners have noted that the bumper can be slid on by connecting up the sides first and then pulling the center section up.
There's a few ways to handle the bumper reinstallation in the circumstance you have.
Would look better with the center "bar" left in. Looks like poop without it.
