Pretty much - the base sim is the same across each edition - you only pay for the additional aircraft. However - if you want to engage in missions - it might be a better choice having more aircraft - at least until 3rd party ones are updated - but if not - then the standard version will be just fine

Good morning. Thanks for the video. Question. Does Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 feature real life radio communication to match what you would have to do if you were taking off or landing at a real controlled airport? Thanks. Greg
Sadly, it appears that the new version will still lack a basic feature for IFR pilots--the ability to set flight visibility (or automatically limit visibility based on METARs) to experience (and practice) realistic instrument approaches in IMC. It's hard to understand why this capability, which has been available in PC-simulations, including the pre-2020 versions of MSFS, for decades apparently still won't be available in the new FS2024.

Google says: For optimal performance with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, an "ideal" system configuration would include: an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i7-14700K CPU, 64GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900XT GPU with at least 12GB VRAM, 50GB of storage space, and a Windows 10 or 11 operating system with the latest updates; this setup is designed to run the game at high resolutions with ultra graphics settings and maintain smooth frame rates. Thoughts?

Hardware: whats the ideal specs (especially for VR), multithreadding? Purpose of e.g. Ryzen 7 7800X3D to Ryzen 9 9750X3D. Haptic support (e.g. buttkicker), file structure (community folder for 3rd party addons?), loading airports without restarting sim (when using symlinks like add-on collector), Airtraffic, ATC, Radio to other players (I think there are some rumours)
Thank you @twptonemurphy for taking the time to produce this video. The MOST important questions for me (and perhaps many others) are: Does it have: FLYBY view? A user friendly Replay function? If not, as these are basic, essential features, I will not be buying it and will continue with DCS which has both of these functions and far superior aerodynamic physics model. The arcade candy does not appeal to me.
Has the collision mesh/boxes that prevents exploring the interiors of the handcrafted airports from world updates with the drone camera been removed in MSFS 2024? As I do like exploring interiors from time to time with the drone camera as well as glancing at them from my plane’s cockpit.

I’m a casual summer - When I first played FS 2020, a lot of the jets were easy to fly with the LNAV…and you can set your flight plan in the main menu then they updated them to be more realistic and made it harder for the casual. Is the free play still enjoyable for casual summer?

I also want to know, does October 10th look different from October 20th? Or are seasons only presets? When will they fix the weird water reflection? Will they fix the problem where trees don’t match Satellite imagery in rural areas?
If we've already purchased the additional 30 Microsoft published aircraft from the marketplace in MSFS2020 is there any reason to buy the Aviator edition or the right choice would be the Premium/Deluxe Edition?
Having dust l from jet wash, cows & roaming animals is all fine, but will it stutter coming into land? Will it have any half decent atc? Will night lighting & airport night lighting gonna be better than some dark alley like 1870’s, will there be shared cockpits built in, loading from cache may have stutters hopping for the best but I reserve judgment as much missing on launch so will see how it looks after a few months I guess 🤔 if they start charging Ubisoft prices cannot believe there doing the 4 packs again, if you cannot pay difference and upgrade later it sucks

Will 4 inches of snow actually look like 4 inches of snow, or will it continue to leave large patches of green? Can the plane land in a whole foot of snow?
As I understand it, this preview is based on an invitation-only event MS/Asobo held about a week and a half ago involving a few dozen content creators and well-known members of the flight sim community. Not sure any of them have copies on their own machines yet.

Hi i have a question, this new sim all looks great and everything but there is no infor i can find on what is available on xbox amd what is available in pc. For example all the planes have EFB's is that for xbox too ? Theres a cool new flight planner where you can access charts and all that stuff which leads me to believe these plans will be available in the flight as well through the tablet is this also the case for xbox ? Because 2020 the differences in accesability to charts, good flight planners, EFB, were astronomical, like you couldnt plan a flight well with the default on xbox however pc were able to have all sorts of things available.any info on this would be massivley appreciated thanks.
I rather have data locally stored than in the cloud hogging my connection creating stuttering of the game and slowly loading gfx's. Not every family has the money for the most expensive connections. If that was the case we would all have airplanes to fly with. You also do not have to install everything at all. Just pick a single continent to focus on and it's easy to keep your installation below 250 Gb. When you do not have unlimited bandwidth it means you will be playing restricted with high cost involved. Buying some extra storage for MSFX would be much cheaper long term. Object container streaming to free up RAM for running the engine is also nothing new. Loading with standard internet connections is also much slower than the slowest RAM you could buy I see nothing in this engine they cannot do with the current game already and sell it as a DLC. I notice many stock airplanes aren't even fully finished while we all slammed 100+ Euro for it on the table. Why doesn't the current simulator have a good mission generator and game functionality for is staggering. 20-30 Euro for a flight route and 10-15 Euro for having lights at a single airport? seriously?? The current light sources are also just randomly placed hovering orbs Many gfx are just very bulky in size but around actual quality it's more like the typical 1999 video game. Looks fine from a distance but you go back in time 25 years when you zoom in. Every fuel station and push back service is just a single copy paste hack with humans being 3x the size of a normal airplane door. The ATC is a hot buggy mess, taxiing is very bugged, the live weather doesn't correspond or is simply not available due to other bugs. How many time are you forced t go around because the open world map creates simulations starting ON runways constantly going back to ridiculous defaults no single motherflower is even using but you need to set them constantly like remembering menu settings still needs to be invented. They will just do a copy pasta with some 'new' gimmicks and sell it as new at full price The dev teams are always investigating issues but when I go to the Development Update pages it just says "No updates" everywhere which is staggering and now they want to launch an entire new title mothballing the current title we all spend out hard earned money on. Do I really need to spend 150 Euro again and buying my favorite aircraft costing a few 100 as well again just because they updated the mission generator, added general basic mission scripting and wanting to sell the game as a cloud based service with a subscription at some stage??? When these devs talk about clouds it's always about selling subscriptions No wonder nobody is fixing anything anymore on the current live version because the publisher announces something fake new they already have. I think this is a huge farce because gfx or content wise they are not going to bring anything new to the table they should not have have already implemented in the current simulator. Why not just offer an extensive mission generator with a menu share section instead of a hand full of mission designers selling routes you could already create yourself letting you pay serious money for it. It would spark an entire wonderful pool of player created free mission content the vast majority would really like Sorry for the wall of text. Normally don't do that but damn I needed to get this off my chest because I'm not willing to hype into this title when they leave behind an unfinished title on the table we all spend serious money on and ad nothing that should not already been in the current title. They just dumped the current simulator for no reason at all. Object container streaming is also already in use now in hybrid form between local content and cloud content. Now the result is that nobody including 3rd parties is putting any dev time into fixing bugs or finalizing their products anymore. I mean the F/A 18 doesn't even have a basic GPS map on the HUD or the A320 v2 you paid for is pretty much not fully functional due to fuel and mass load being restricted by a paid 3rd party web tool and a buggy flight computer
I appreciate the comments mate and I see where you are coming from. The issue they have with data - its the size. Too many things in the sim. Streaming what you need - when its needed - and then giving the sim space on your drive via cache seems to be a good idea. If you fly in the same area - you'll be using very little bandwidth as its already cached. As for missions - some are available today via 3rd party - but they needed to build the infrastructure to support it As for costs of updates/new sims - they are at the end of the day a business - and a cash injection for a new platform will hopefully go a long way to further development
@@UndercoverPirate69 The engine that 2020 is built on isn’t good enough to do the things they want to do in 2024. They have said that numerous times. Additionally 2020 is built on old FSX code which they were always working around.

You earned my subscription today.... beautifully detailed information. I'm currently waiting for my Pimax Light to arrive from China while giving my RTX 4090 a 2k upgrade in anticipation of November's MSFS 2024 launch. Best man toy ever invented!!!
I need me one of those! Thanks so much for watching!
Great review!
What are your HW specs on that last scene when you load a flight from Dublin to Shanon with a 737?
That was using their hardware - 4070 was the card in use
@@twotonemurphy thank you! do you recall what CPU was there by any chance?
Can one upgrade? i.e. Buy Standard edition and later on buy Premium Delux, 'Upgrade' Without paying for everything you already got in the Standard edition?
Jaysus, I can imagine some of the dodgy banners that'll be created. I've got a few ready to launch 😂
"your name here" is my first one LOL
I have a HP Z240 with I7 6700K processor, Quadro P4000 graphics and 32 gb ddr4 ram. Runs Flight sim 2020 on high settings. Will it be fine for Flight Sim 2024?
Well I like ore caching. Hopefully it will be persistent if you only fly same area / route all the time ?
yep - if you stick to the same area - it will stay on your cache
Can you imagine if Microsoft had shot down the idea of restarting the flight sim. We would've never known just how awesome it could get. This sim is flat ass unbelievable compared to what was available before 2020.
You wrote this on multiple vids, nice bot
@@brandonchappell1535 I'm really excited for the new sim and watched several videos on it and made the same comment. I guess it could look like a bot, but it's not.
@@dannymoore8785 all gd bro, im pumped too, an i agree, its increble what they achieved !! Whenever i try explain the tech to people i sound like a crazy person haha
Really great review, insta subbed :)
If you could make Jorg and Seb say YES to "can we have a marshaller to insert for helipads, landings, hooks and more" I will be absolutely greatful :D
What a great pre-view! Thank you !!!
Thank you so much sir!
Thoughts?
Brilliant stuff Murph looking forward for tomorrow.
Thank you Murph! Great report! Awesome sim!
Thanks.... Most comprehensive review since announcement/ update
If i preorder and the msfs2024 doesn't work on my computer then will I get my money back?
Question for Jorg. I have the Premium Deluxe version of 2020, does this mean if I bought the standard edition 2024, id still have the 787 in 2024 because I already bought it in the 2020 version?
@@Eammon-vw9rv he answered this ages ago, yes you’ll keep your planes from 2020
@@Tuskin38 other people have said the PD 2020 787 aircraft will not be the same as the PD 787 aircraft, so who knows what will transpire.
in flight training will be cessna 172 skyhak or c172 g1000 ? im talking about standard version of the gama cause skyhawk is avaible on deluxe version so in standard we will be flying on g1000 or skyhawk?
Hardware: whats the ideal specs (especially for VR), multithreadding? Purpose of e.g. Ryzen 7 7800X3D to Ryzen 9 9750X3D. Haptic support (e.g. buttkicker), file structure (community folder for 3rd party addons?), loading airports without restarting sim (when using symlinks like add-on collector), Airtraffic, ATC, Radio to other players (I think there are some rumours)
damn just take my money
note: you can pre order when its open its not an EA game
Are you free to roam outside of aircraft if you land somewhere?
@@brandonwolf6773 yes
This is the most complete preview of FS2024 I've seen.
Thank you @twptonemurphy for taking the time to produce this video.
The MOST important questions for me (and perhaps many others) are:
Does it have:
FLYBY view?
A user friendly Replay function?
If not, as these are basic, essential features, I will not be buying it and will continue with DCS which has both of these functions and far superior aerodynamic physics model. The arcade candy does not appeal to me.
They are working on both - but not sure if they will make the release date
They have a new user friendly replay mode.
So many new things 2024 is going to offer, LOVE IT ALL READY.
This is verging on a being a flight simmers wet dream.
The features that this has are just superb.
Roll on November.
I’m so excited for this game. I just started playing msfs 2020 and I’m hooked. This looks great
The Mountains look incredible. The melted hills were an initial let down for me in 2020, this looks so awesome.
Has the collision mesh/boxes that prevents exploring the interiors of the handcrafted airports from world updates with the drone camera been removed in MSFS 2024?
As I do like exploring interiors from time to time with the drone camera as well as glancing at them from my plane’s cockpit.
At this rate we'll soon have Truck/Train/Ship/Farming simulator all rolled into flight simulator.
You forgot GOAT. He mentioned the wasted resources on COWS!
Cows that move realistically!! All I've ever wanted in a sim. All these pretty scenes OUTSIDE the airplane, which is where I like to be when I'm flying. In other words, they're putting together an amazing ability to make pretty movies. Show we what I'm going to see sitting on my rear in the cockpit.
You do know that the aircraft were also worked on right?
I’m a casual summer - When I first played FS 2020, a lot of the jets were easy to fly with the LNAV…and you can set your flight plan in the main menu then they updated them to be more realistic and made it harder for the casual. Is the free play still enjoyable for casual summer?
Yes - Free flight is still much the same
ok i have some questions
are you playing on the xbox series x for your gameplay? or is it a mix between pc and console
and is offline mode still gonna be around
I also want to know, does October 10th look different from October 20th? Or are seasons only presets? When will they fix the weird water reflection? Will they fix the problem where trees don’t match Satellite imagery in rural areas?
What do you recommend for control hardware?
If we've already purchased the additional 30 Microsoft published aircraft from the marketplace in MSFS2020 is there any reason to buy the Aviator edition or the right choice would be the Premium/Deluxe Edition?
Great job Murph, take my money now MS!
Having dust l from jet wash, cows & roaming animals is all fine, but will it stutter coming into land? Will it have any half decent atc? Will night lighting & airport night lighting gonna be better than some dark alley like 1870’s, will there be shared cockpits built in, loading from cache may have stutters hopping for the best but I reserve judgment as much missing on launch so will see how it looks after a few months I guess 🤔 if they start charging Ubisoft prices cannot believe there doing the 4 packs again, if you cannot pay difference and upgrade later it sucks
im very excited for this game but how do you think this game will run for people with lower to mid end pc’s? im not sure what cpu i have but i have a gtx 1660 super and 16gigs of ram and the current MSFS stutters at times like when getting close to mid and large sized airports
Great overview! Quite excited :D
I’ve only ever used infinite flight so I don’t know anything about micro software. What would I have to buy and the cost please and can you give some advice on what to buy as I would not even know where to start?
There is a massive community of 3rd party devs - software and hardware. What platform are you thinking of using? Xbox or PC? Xbox has some options - but PC has way more scope
Hi friend , Whats about multiview, it is experimental like FS2020 , of it is improved ?
4:15 - Well Gibbo seems delighted by this news!
Great video Murph, Would be good if you could ask what the minimum download speed will needed for this to run smoothly Cheers
They've published the specs. Minimum is 10mbps, recommended 50, ideal 100
Will 4 inches of snow actually look like 4 inches of snow, or will it continue to leave large patches of green? Can the plane land in a whole foot of snow?
8:40 What’s going on with those trees there… 🧐
how about hardware support? Is the need for SPADNEXT still there or has the intergration of logitech and honeycomb mixes been taken care of?
Not sure - Spad is a very powerful program, I see it being used in 2024 and beyond
Is there going to be a shared career industry over multiplayer? That would be sweet to have like 5 people to all pitch on an airline.
How does it run on your system compared with msfs?
As I understand it, this preview is based on an invitation-only event MS/Asobo held about a week and a half ago involving a few dozen content creators and well-known members of the flight sim community. Not sure any of them have copies on their own machines yet.
Not sure yet - but the rig I used to test it was less powerful than mine
@@LeftyLabs Thanks, yes I just learned it was invite only. Looks promising though I'm trying to keep my expectations low.
@@twotonemurphy Sounds promising. I'm vr only so performance is key for me.
@@68sixgun 3D Pilot has put out a review as well that you may be interested in, with more to follow.
Thanks for that Murph.. one question.. do you see ANY improvement in night time? I still think 2020 night is too basic and blobby - I'm running 3 monitors at 4k btw.. thanks...
Yep - they have enhanced night lighting over cities
@@twotonemurphy How so if I may ask? Higher resolution? Color differences? Darker textures? Thanks Murph!
Would be nice having real life liveries and aircraft on AI and multiplayer aircraft. Also, ATC regional voices. Having an American ATC at Manchester airport is a bit of a killer experience (Xbox user)
What about performance in VR? Is it better?
Will MSFS 2024 actually show towering tstorms up to FL600 like in real life we will have to vector around
Can you walk in the world in the normal flight mode where you just pick an airport or flight plan?
If its a default 2024 aircraft, yes
If only Microsoft would come through and release a new train simulator. I remember getting the original in June of 2001 when I was 18.
It looks awesome but I'm a little bummed that ships still don't produce wake.
Loading with standard internet connections is also much slower than the slowest RAM you could buy
I see nothing in this engine they cannot do with the current game already and sell it as a DLC. I notice many stock airplanes aren't even fully finished while we all slammed 100+ Euro for it on the table. Why doesn't the current simulator have a good mission generator and game functionality for is staggering. 20-30 Euro for a flight route and 10-15 Euro for having lights at a single airport? seriously?? The current light sources are also just randomly placed hovering orbs
Many gfx are just very bulky in size but around actual quality it's more like the typical 1999 video game. They will just do a copy pasta with some 'new' gimmicks and sell it as new at full price
The dev teams are always investigating issues but when I go to the Development Update pages it just says "No updates" everywhere which is staggering and now they want to launch an entire new title mothballing the current title we all spend out hard earned money on. Do I really need to spend 150 Euro again and buying my favorite aircraft costing a few 100 as well again just because they updated the mission generator, added general basic mission scripting and wanting to sell the game as a cloud based service with a subscription at some stage??? When these devs talk about clouds it's always about selling subscriptions
No wonder nobody is fixing anything anymore on the current live version because the publisher announces something fake new they already have. It would spark an entire wonderful pool of player created free mission content the vast majority would really like
Sorry for the wall of text.
As for missions - some are available today via 3rd party - but they needed to build the infrastructure to support it
As for costs of updates/new sims - they are at the end of the day a business - and a cash injection for a new platform will hopefully go a long way to further development
@@UndercoverPirate69 The engine that 2020 is built on isn’t good enough to do the things they want to do in 2024. They have said that numerous times.
Additionally 2020 is built on old FSX code which they were always working around.
Do you have any idea about prices?
I dont have a big gaming rig so will be playing this on Xbox. Did you try this with a controller at all? Do you know if i can use Mouse/Keyboard on Xbox with it? The game looks gorgeous
Afraid not mate - but as soon as I can - I will let you know
@twotonemurphy quick follow up, my friend has a 4080 with 32GB of RAM, the spec sheet says 64GB is ideal, do you know if the game has DLSS to offset this to play Recommended at better quality?
Thanks Murph, did you see anything on Multiplayer?
No changes to the core system- they have added more aircraft models to help with model matching but that’s about it for now
Does the Cessna 172 still behave as if it had a negative dihedral?
Will preset controller setting in 2020 automatically transfer to 2024?
Great job thanks so much - day one purchase looks awesome Aviator version for me thats for sure
