Jason Voorhees is a horror icon from the 1980s Friday the 13th movies. These movies have many sequels, a spin-off, a remake, comic books, popular video games and much more. The story of these movies begins at Camp Crystal Lake. Where is Camp Crystal Lake located? Nowhere. It’s fictional… But where was the first Friday the 13th movie filmed? Actually, in the state of New Jersey! More specifically, the towns of Hope and Blairstown. In this video I give you guide to visiting these towns and finding the Friday the 13th filming locations.

Hi Jaqen. I'm not perfect. I made one mistake about the Halloween town movies. And I acknowledged that I made a mistake.
Hi Joe,Do you By any chance know the address to the Building where Annie Runs into Crazy Ralph? Thank You
@@mikeg5872 Look at 1:23 of this video.
Lol that no trespassing sign is probably the most ignored sign in sign history xD
Have you ever gone past it?
Maybe it's a good idea to go with people that can drop you off and come back and get you - assuming you want to challenge the sign and take a chance! You won't leave an obvious car in the road that way....
Yep cuz everybody does anyway
I personally would not.
I'd park my truck somewhere public miles away and ride my electric bicycle to Sand Pond Rd. and hide it covered in the woods nearby the entrance, then just hike from there inside the camp during a slow time of the year when there are no kids or hardly anyone there
Please stop by Blairstown again but this time, make sure you come on Friday the 13th! This past October 13, 2017 we had an amazing celebration that included a real FT13th themed wedding, a "Jason" for pictures, a photobooth and so much more! The camp holds limited tours as well. This upcoming FT13th (April 2018) promises to be another great event that you won't want to miss!
Thanks! I would love to visit the town again on a Friday the 13th. Where can I find info on the limited tours of the camp?
www.crystallaketours.com/
Do you have one for 2019?
@@wwemad09 There are two Friday the 13ths in 2019 - in September and December, so if they have more tours, they'll likely be on those dates. It may be too early for them to announce it though. Since it's a Boy Scout camp, they probably won't have tours on dates when the Boy Scouts are using it. I went to Blairstown this past July for Friday the 13th, but noticed that no tours were being held, likely because it was the summer and Boy Scout activities were probably happening.
It's been some time, but I did visit Blairstown again on an actual Friday the 13th. Please check out this video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/pqpoy9wtos0/v-deo.html
Don't forget Shannon Rd. where Mrs. Voorhees picks up Annie.
Is that in Blairstown or Hope?
Blairstown. Right around the corner from Sand Pond Rd. (Camp Crystal Lake)
Wow! I guess I drove right by without even realizing it. Interesting. Thanks!
I only know this because I was just there this past Friday The 13th (July). I bought tickets to meet Robbi Morgan (Annie) and go on a trolley ride with her and other fans to check out all the movie locations. No better way to do it! It was a great time! Steve Dash (Jason from Part 2) was at the Blairstown Museum for autographs too! They have a whole article on it here....

Nice job and thanks for an outstanding video.
That's great MrTheManeman! That's exactly what I was trying to do with the video - help fans visiting the town find locations more easily. So I take your comments as an ideal compliment.
Did you get to stop at Frazetta's costume store?
Joe likes movies n stuff I did not. Since I was spending the night, flying was not an option. I made the 14 hour drive from Iowa with all my camping gear that the camp suggested I bring. I was in a tight time schedule. Saw everything from the film, spent the night at Camp Crystal Lake, met Alice, Officer Dorf, and Marcee!
Well Frazetta's Costume Store is only a 12 minute drive down the highway (you don't have to fly anywhere). But you did what you had time for, and did what you wanted to. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, and glad this video was able to help you.

The video was very useful and brought back so many memories from when I lived in Hope NJ. I lived there at the very time this film was made. The little store/restaurant that Annie goes into in the movie back then was called Skip’s if I remember correctly and my brother and I ate hamburgers and french fries in there many many times. My uncle owned a furniture store where the long uneven covered porch is just a few places down from Skip’s and that is where I sat as a almost 8 year old and watched the filming of this movie. The building you see in your video in the background when Annie getting into the red truck was part of the back of my uncles store and the entrance to his home. I have always had a connection to this movie. Thanks for sharing this video and bringing back the memories for me.
Also my mom use to be the cook at the camp and I have swam in those waters. Glad Jason wasn’t in there lol

As I stumbled across this informative piece I can't help but wonder if Blairstown would be able to arrange for guided tours along the Friday the 13th trail since they seem to embrace their inherited piece of movie history anyway? Great piece, take care👍.
That's a good idea! Maybe you should contact the Blairstown museum and suggest your idea to them. Glad you liked the video, thanks a lot!
Google Crystal Lake Tours and you will find information about the tours they offer. The camp that was used in the film is an actual Boys Scout Camp so they only offer tours before and after scouting season. You need to sign up and win a ticket lottery. I have only won the ticket lottery once and they estimated about 17,000 people signed up for it. I did the last tour they offer in May 2019. I actually did the VIP experience and sent the night in the main cabin. They also bring people in who were in the movie to do photo ops. Follow the Blairstown Museum, Blairstown Diner, and Crystal Lake Tours on Facebook because they are doing a huge event in September and Facebook always has the most updated information.
I knew the camp has tickets for fans to stay there, but I didn't know it includes seeing anything in Blairstown outside the camp. Does it include anything in the town of Hope?
Amazing
Thanks, Silvano!

Camp No Be Bo Sco has been holding tours on Friday the 13th for several years now, but tickets are often limited and would sell out in minutes, if not seconds. They've recently switched to a more random lottery-style method of awarding opportunities to buy tickets. If you're lucky enough to get selected, you still have to fork over $175 for a single ticket, but they also provide meals for ticketholders and will sometimes feature appearances by the likes of Adrienne King, who played sole survivor Alice in the movie. The camp is owned by the Boy Scouts of America and is still active for Boy Scout activities, so it's private property and prohibits trespassers. They STRONGLY discourage random visitors from just showing up and roaming the site uninvited, stating that the presence of repeated trespassing puts the desire to hold future tours in jeopardy.
hi Glenn. I appreciate you sharing that info. As big a fan as I am of Friday the 13th, I still feel like $175 is a little more than I'd want to pay to walk the camp. At least at this time... But for all the Friday the 13th fans who do go, I hope they have an awesome time!
You have a better chance of winning the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. If they were entrepreneurs, they would close the camp down for more than half of the year and host tours only. They would make a fortune.
Screw it I would just drive my car down a good distance from the camp and park the damn thing in the woods lol. Probably cover it with branches/leaves or put some camo tarp over it too or something👌In my opinion It would totally be worth it for this place specifically. Then you could be on your merry way with no worries as long as you dont crash into a tree or get suspected. Since its private property Im assuming there would be cameras so all you gotta do is stay off main dirt roads and entrances and not be seen. Bug spray will be your best friend. Then you can find a nice spot out in the woods about over an earshot away, keep a low profile fire, and camp out for the night and swim🔥
I would not do that. I love visiting movie locations, but I always try to respect people's privacy and property.
Well yeah Im nearly the same way really but thats why I said just this location specifically would be would be worth it for a night or two.

The camp itself is in Hardwick and many of the back road scenes are in Hardwick. For instance the 2 scenes with Kevin Bacon driving are both on Millbrook road in Hardwick.
Thanks. I'm not sure exactly where the border is of Blairstown and Hardwick. Before I visited these towns, I looked up the addresses online and hand wrote them on paper. Online, I found that the camp's address was in Hardwick. But when I actually got to Blairstown and was ready to drive to the camp, I typed "11 Sand Pond Road" into my GPS, and the suggestion that my GPS gave me was "11 Sand Pond Road, Blairstown, NJ." So I just clicked the suggestion, and the directions took me right to the camp.
I am just a proud Mayor of Hardwick, I just like when the town gets the recognition it deserves.

Hi Kupakrunch. It's awesome that you live near Blairstown. It's a really nice area. But I don't recommend sneaking on Nobebosco's Private Property - it would be trespassing, and you could get arrested.

I went back in the early 90’s when it wasn’t cool to visit the campground - I got a personal tour from one of the camp counselors. It was an awesome moment. Now you have to win a raffle to visit the campground. Ridiculous. My take on it has always been the camp shouldn’t have ever allowed the production crew to use the camp as a location if they didn’t want fans or tourists. Now they are coming to the conclusion that they can make money off of the fans but only by limited groups.
Cool! What did you have to do to get the tour?
Joe likes movies n stuff well keep in mind that this was only 12 or so years after the movie came out. So I was the first generation to see it as a youth. I thought it was a super cool movie and it was a head of its time. So I showed up - drove in with my then pregnant wife - and took pictures. There was a camp going on so I just took exterior shots after talking to a really nice older counselor who spent some time talking to me. He was going to allow me to hike with them up one of the iconic mountains to show me a plane crash site but my wife wouldn’t be able to make the hike in the condition she was in so I had to abandon the invite. He even told me that they had the original sign from the movie. This was way before fans visited the camp.
When do you think fans first started visiting the camp?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff that’s hard to say - probably a few years later - but only the real fans did the research to where the filmed it and eventually drove to see it. It was on my bucket list of places to see heading east. Nobody thought a thing when I stopped by and one of the older counselors was so friendly he was going to allow me to hike up to hill with them. The counselor also told me they would show the movie to campers - many, who never knew the first movie was filmed there - and they would start noticing iconic locations in the movie and it would creep them out in a fun way !
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff now it’s a raffle. So the odds of being able to visit is like getting the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory…. I have photos in Dave grove’s Friday the 13th documentary book. He saw my early pics years prior and wanted to use them for his book.
