These plugins stand out to me vs the gazillion others I own. They bring something to the table. They seem like great DSP and man, boost Nova or Slick to the moon and it still manages to sound so smooth. Molot is very flexible and has great character. Great stuff. Thanks, Matt!
@@WeissAdvice underpriced is more how I think of them. Though sometimes when price is set low some people's perception can be that it's somehow 'not as good' as more expensive premium Pro price tier products. But TDR Limiter 6 GE, Nova GE, Kotelnikov GE, Molot GE etc are just plain great. I also really like DMG TrackLimit, Newfangled Saturate, Kazrog KClip 3, Valhalla Vintage Verb & Delay are both some of the best, and some of the more affordable plugins. It's nice to have pro-grade $50 dollar price area alternatives to the more typical $150 choices, like those from FabFilter say. Valhalla Supermassive too, and that's free. Shoutout to Reaper for that too, an great DAW for 60 for their Discounted license, which has sensible use criteria. Or Luna if on Mac OSX. iZotope 11 Standard is really good value too, when you factor in the fact that Maximizer alone is worth the entry point, I find it better than FabFilter Pro L2. But it also has Mastering / Dynamic EQ and much much more.
Nova and Kotelnikov are my main EQ and Compressor Kotelnikov GE is an insane clean vocal compressor, it honestly improved my ear because I realised in other compressors the distortion makes it a lot easier to hear how much you're compressing. You have to speed up the RMS a lot on drums though, it's too clean most of the time. I'm less of a fan of molotok though, the alpha beta omega thing can sound weeeeird. That's a super vibey "reverb" btw :D
Not a bad idea there. Yes, I wanted to make sure I was getting a good feel for their software before doing the review, so I mixed used mainly Tokyo Dawn plugins.
I have two of there plugins on almost every mix. #1 TDR Limiter 6 GE. the M/S comp, High Frequency limiter and clipper are amazing. #2 is the Nova Dynamic EQ. I will use this on master buss to add movement and energy to the mix with some general shaping. The quality is amazing on all their plugins, I would recommend to that everyone at least try some of their free stuff to see for yourself.
I've used the Kotelnikov and the SlickEQ for a long long time. The fact its free is how I found it. I love the EQ.... I havent used it in a while because I havent mixed in a while and I am in plugin overload but if I remember its one of those EQs that sounds good just by adding it to the chain. Their GUI is dope and they just work well
Kotelnikov is fantastic I have both the GE and standard versions and use them on most tracks and highly recommend that one for mastering. Check out the GE if you have not it has some interesting features unique only to it.
Great plugins. And it is worth adding about their price rating of the GE version that they are sometimes available in sales with offers that are really irresistible... for anyone...
I upgraded to from all the Free editions because even they where already amazing... And supporting TDR by doing so, mate.. Amazing the extras with the GE editions.... All I can say is DSP code Voodoo.
I like this company very much and have owned almost all their plugins for years. Having made this clear, I was a bit surprised that 12 min into the video you had not mentioned what products they have, and what may, or may not, be special about them. Perhaps this is why the comments so far are all from happy owners? Cheers!
you can do professional quality audio mastering with Tokyo Dawn plugins, I know a mastering engineer with 20 years of experience who uses the free versions! These are very high quality and very affordable plugins.
For single tracks I prefer Molotok over Molot because it has more tactile and playable interface. Molotok reacts faster than anything I've ever seen. Everybody should try Molotok at least once in their life for ducking (like kick-bass, maybe kick-pads too) 🙂
Matt, what were some of those saturations that seem to always work on material that's already kinda grungy? Curious to know man. Watching rest of vid. I'm a TDL fan. I own a few of their plugs and looking forward to hearing your impressions.
The mix sound great man, wow. Kinda giving me Tchad Blake vibes, maybe a bit cleaner. And yeah the drums def sound better processed than dry in this example. Pls tell me the spring reverb you're using on the vox in this!
Tokyo Dawn make the only true peak limiter I ever use / trust. The combination of (insert your favorite limiter) operating normally followed by tdr lim6 in tp is 9/10 times the way to go if you need to care about true peak. Imo anyway
@@vessail5738 luckily the demo of tdr lim6 is unrestricted (just unrecallable). So you can run tests on l2 in tp mode against l2 normal -> tdr in tp and see which you prefer.

They are the necessary complement on my work table ... everything is excellent
Tokyo Dawn are some of the most underrated plugins out
Who rates them lowly? They are a small company but deeply loved.
Not rated lowly but they are rarely mentioned with the other top tier companies if at all @@chaddonal4331
I think "underrated" in the sense that they aren't as well known as companies like Waves, Slate, Plugin-Alliance, etc.

I have been using the free version of the TDR NOVA for a few years now. I love what it does. Great vid!
YYYYEEEESSS! Didn't think you'd do this one-- I have all the gentleman's editions, use them all the time, don't regret it for a second
Customer care is 5 stars in my experience. But yes is very rare to reach for them because their plugins works like a charm.

Great Video. Whats next..Klanghelm plugins..PSP perhaps? 👍🏽
Does anyone else just enjoy how every move has such a relatable explanation
Also tdr plugins are amazing.
Thank you, Sir, for digging the Molot. Greetings!
Love these guys. Haven’t seen the video yet, but gotta respond to the question in the title; yes, they are worth it!
Kotelnikov GE and Limier 6 GE are simply outstanding!
Thanks for the bonus tutorial using Molotov.
This is great ! I see you mostly used Tokyo Dawn Lab's plugins on this mix. Would be great to see other details from that session ! Very smoky !

You should do DMG next, one of the best but so little videos about them.
prob THE best...
I had forgotten about this company; I'll go ahead and test a few things with them
Please review Antelope audio Native offering. Thank you!

Great! I find these plugins very interesting. I own Sliq eq Gentleman edition and I have all other free versions and want to use them more often!
Great plugins They have their style and sounds on certain tunes. A must-have, I bought the Limiter.
I upgraded to from all the Free editions because even they where already amazing... And supporting TDR by doing so, mate.. Amazing the extras with the GE editions.... All I can say is DSP code Voodoo.
Honestly i just want it for the analyzer. The quick sub bass response time is next level.
SlickEQ M is my fav mastering EQ!
Please take also look at MELDA and boz digital labs. Both are awesome.
Hoser2 is my jam. Haven't really tried the Melda stuff yet, but I've heard good things.

The EQ-Sat in Slick EQ. All four curves can be great, just depends on the source.
Hey, thanks for the vid. : ) I love TD plugins. Fantastic purchase for anyone considering trying them out. : ) Kind regards, Darren (Wales, UK)
The mix sound great man, wow. Kinda giving me Tchad Blake vibes, maybe a bit cleaner. And yeah the drums def sound better processed than dry in this example.

The spring reverb is really easy - it's just the stock PT delay!
Love the company. I like the tone of Molot, but i never jived with the action of the compressor. Limiter and EQs are incredible as is kotelnikov
it's exactly the opposite for me - the action of the comp is what sells me on it.

Well, I like TDR/TDL plugins so much I'm collecting them just as they were DaVinci works...
Tokyo Dawn rules!!!!
Nice
nice shirt! :D
Some of The Best plugins ever. Just a little CPU heavy
i don't know how to actually start up the plugin
