All I can say now is: WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The sound clarity, the features at this price range... ...WOW! THANK YOU , Dan! Thank you all from Tokyo Dawn Records (Labs)...
Hats off to this brand for making this de-resonate feature. I wanted to make my vocals smoother and it helps a whole lot, especially making vocals sound tighter and overall cleaner. INCREDIBLE
I watched this video a year and half ago, and I didn't see how I could really use all the features of nova ge. But now, I think I'm ready. Thanks! The free version of Nova has served me well. ☺️
So I just bought the TDR bundle and didn't even realize about this .... HOLY SHIT I'M IN LOVE!! If only I'd had this 2 days ago!! *cries* best 130 bucks I've spent on anything audio!
There is a lot to love about TDR. Music mixers/producers on youtube don't talk enough about them. TDR offers some of the best free plugins on the market, with the option to upgrade them to more advance ones as you see in the video. My one criticism of this video are the ads in it, which is already an ad.
What a phantastic function and a great tutorial. Just found this AFTER upgrading to the TDR Everything Bundle. Clearly confirming that my choice was right. Even without this, I thought that NOVA (GE) is one of the most powerful plugins on earth, as it can server as an EQ, a multi/single band comp/expander and everything in between. You could mix whole songs with it (with the exception of delay and reverb). But combined with these detection functions - boy. This is as mighty as hell.
Thank you for showing this wonderful features of the already wonderful plugins from TDR. They make such good plugins for such good prices. I learned something new. Thank you :)
Thanks for the section detailing how to make one microphone try to sound like another. This tutorial was very useful. Question - After I make the EQ profile of the second microphone, is there a way to save/convert that profile as an impulse response file? I see I can save it as a user preset in Nova GE. Thanks again for a really useful video!
I had no idea my GEs had this feature. This explanation was GREAT. Thanks for another jam-packed with useful info tutorial Dan! BTW, what is the starting mic in this video? The tube shaped one at 7:28 (WA-47? K2?). It sounds way better than the TLM looking one.
I wish we could hear a bypass to compare to all the magic that is happening so I could be amazed by what TDR is creating. Or if there was a limited time demo of the programs would really help me to understand the potential. Or an example of this on a vocal track that had character that could be cleaned up, or is this a mastering process?
Having all 3 of them I find Nova`s smart operations best for almost everything, because it can do dynamic match/deresonate etc. However adding saturatuon and matching stereo pan are also important. Is it Ok to use all of them on 1 track/master track, or will it bring too much phase issues? Also can you add mp3 import into Slick M please?
Yes and yes. All our plugins can be put in series without any drawbacks. I'd start to get skeptical when a problem asks for more than 3 plugins, though. ;) Mp3 why not. I don't see how it would hurt anybody. Expect it in the next update.
That's because smartOps is basically a signal dependent preset generator for the plugin at hand. It has to use the means provided by the plugin it controls: Its function, its parameters and control range. Nova and SlickEQ cover different purposes and offer different sound parameters. SmartOps tries its best with whatever it has available. SlickEQ's results will likely be more on the smooth/least intrusive side, while Nova results will likely be more aggressive in nature.
@@TokyoDawnRecords In my tests, Nova looks more aggressive but sounds more smooth :). But they act on completely different frequencies even when configuring Nova to just three bands. That's what surprised me. Well, great products all the same!
Anyone using bitwig 3? I can't use the learnt input in the other track , where i want to use it. The little cogwheels not light up next to the Learning button. Anyone has the same issue? Nor the AU neither the VST3 version works as in the video...
CPU usage with TDR plugins is high because they default to a very high quality mode. It is equivalent to 4-8 times oversampling. Do not hesiate to use the ECO mode, antialiasing then still surpasses your average 2x oversampled plugin. Our conceptual background is mastering. Hence the high default quality.
Watching Tokyo Dawn plugin intros make me feel like James Bond getting prepped for some kind of weird mastering mission.
Dan`s tutorials are better than listening to a tape of Hansel&Grettel
The Dynamic match function+ communicaton between Nova instances is Sweeeeet! Cool addition!
This is how every VST plugin should be presented
Just leave that to Dan W, absolutely!

So good, wow. Makes my listening music sound even better.
Gotta love sensei Dan.
You're breathtaking
Your tuts are so well done Dan! I can listen to them several times and learn something new on each play.
I love their stuff. Their Kotelnikov , and EQ's are my favorite go to plugins. The free versions are fantastic as well.
Thanks for this. I had no idea about some of these absurdly powerful features! I'm glad I picked it up on sale!
Outstanding. You’ve gained a subscriber and a GE edition buyer!
WOW OK YEAH

No, we don't have time limited demos. We offer unlimited demos, they just can't recall automatically (like analog devices). ;)

Great vid! One question: why does deresonate result in totally different responses in Slick EQ vs Nova?
That's because smartOps is basically a signal dependent preset generator for the plugin at hand. It has to use the means provided by the plugin it controls: Its function, its parameters and control range.

Здравствуйте. Подскажите где сохраняются пресеты у TDR Nova GE
Bravo!
could this be possibly used for frequency masking?
Thanks!
Great!
How can Smart Operations be used to suppress clicks, pops and other transients?
hey guys! if i need to process both the mid and the side separately, do i just pull up two instances of the plugin?
Yea, this needs to be in the plugin.
what's the recommended range of dynamic deresonate range for individual track?
Smoothing option for detection would be amazing.
When will you add the smart-ops feature to "match cultural reference"? :)
Lol
You should make an or 20 bands version... Awesome!
los videos de mastering están exelentes a que curso de formación corresponden.

Is Dan somehow linked with TDR?
it's possible that Dan already liked the TDR plugins himself before TDR asked him to make a video on several of 'em.
I want a Bob Ross painting session resynchronized with Dan Worralls voice.
Painting with sound
i'm confused as to how or why a new-jazzy bossa dance track would have less bass than a basic tutorial narration?
TDR NOVA GE at 3:33
So i guess it's pretty interesting to buy Nova-ge instead of my current free-one. I love the Slick eq-m-ge already:), but not the cpu-usage:(
just use the lowest quality version and turn on "highest quality for render"
CPU usage with TDR plugins is high because they default to a very high quality mode. It is equivalent to 4-8 times oversampling. Do not hesiate to use the ECO mode, antialiasing then still surpasses your average 2x oversampled plugin.

Please note there's also a non-sexist Gentleman's Edition naming. Given your preferences, you should go with that.
