    Mine's been in the keg for three days. I lost a heap of my aroma due to trying to filter all the hops and trub in my fermentor. It got a bit oxygenated unfortunately and have a bit of bitterness I think from the trub that ended up in the wort. I ran it through a new 20 micron filter that I purchased just for this beer to get it cleaner into the keg. I had to clean the filter quite a few times as you can imagine. This gave it too much exposure to the oxygen. It's just my noob processes that I need to refine. Might use a hop basket to reduce the particles and run my wort through my filter with a new pump to the fermentor. Still drinkable but certainly not Jedi Juice. Also, I haven't done any of the water chemistry as you did so I'll try to get my head around that. I'll have another crack after I get over my disappointment. Thanks for all your efforts Gash.

      @HomeBrewNetwork  5 років тому

      Woah what a pain, yep switch to paint bags or something, while filtering this beer is possible you need to be extremely careful. Water chemistry is very important too, it really makes a difference it stops all those hops seeming so bitter. Keep in mind though the recipe is only around 50ibus so it isnt as bitter as a lot of beers out there.. Did you cold crash? Cheers mate

    Another great video. Thanks for uploading. It's interesting that you used Nottingham - I find it a beast, especially for hoppy ales. I find it rips through and takes away a some of the hop taste and aroma. I find it great for bitters and such, but prefer US-05 for hoppy ales. Saying that, I probably dry hop a bit earlier than you (day two for any first drop) so perhaps that's why (plus I don't have a fermenting fridge....)?

    Hi Gash, do you think you could do 400g of hops before the yeast goes in and get the same result or is there something that happens differently to the hops after the yeast has slowed down that means you get more by dry hopping late? Just curious if I can do something hazy without dry hopping at all. Cheers

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому +1

      Hazy beers are hazy from the oats/wheat but mainly the hops, umm so it's really the first hop add that makes the haze, I have heard of people doing the first hop with the yeast, I haven't tried it, the second dry hop is just too freshen it up like a normal dry hop. I reckon go for it, give it a try. I would suggest a nice healthy pitch of yeast so it's not sitting around too long. Cheers mate!

    I just bottled the jedi juice a couple of days ago.I'm hopeful it will turn out but my colour is a fair bit more duller than how it should be. The mash didn't go so well either with drainage and I ended up with a original gravity of 1058 which is much lower than expected. Still, will see how it comes out of the bottle :)

    I have a question if i may. I have just purchased the Brewzilla and Fermzilla , i am new to brewing and really appreciate your content and i am learning alot.
    In regards to the pressure fermentation, after you pitch the yeast, do you pressurise straight away ? What PSI do you set it to? Also, i noticed that there is no air lock, does the CO2 just continue to build up in the Fermzilla or do you have a valve or something that lets out the CO2 above what you set the pressure at? Hope that makes sense, still learning

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому +1

      There is no need to pressurise straight away, the only time I would make sure I did it, is if I was forcing a yeast to ferment at a high temp and trying to reduce esters.
      For a normal ferment I set it to about 10psi. Adding some pressure to the fermenter can help setting this on you spunding valve.
      A spunding valve is what you want to use to set the pressure and it releases the CO2. The best spunding valve at the moment is easily the blowtie. bit.ly/BlowTieValve there are others around but this is easily the most accurate.
      Cheers!

    • @HomeBrewNetwork

      I think it really helps dry hopping, as in the beers seem to have a much better aroma that lasts longer, fresh for longer. Things like NEIPAS, IPAs and Helles/lagers really benefit. I guess it depends how much trouble you're going to now to avoid oxygen, it just makes it a lot easier. Cheers!

If these beers had of been hopped right up they probably could of masked it a bit. I do make CBD oil from time to time to try and treat my crohns disease but to be honest Im not sure it does much for that. After watching another video “Constructing A Modern Hazy IPA” on the Craft Beer and Brewing Channel it also sounds like knocking the temperature down to pitching takes them around 45 minutes.
