Thank you so much. I already took DHEA but taking it at night has been a game changer for my sleep. I’m even dreaming which I never do, or at least remember. I don’t wake up as much and if I do, I go right back to sleep. I’m so appreciative and happy I listened to this episode
Thanks for this. I just started taking DHEA after researching and this is definitely helping me. I have a history of chronic stress, chronic fatigue, and had adrenal fatigue a few times in my life. Once fairly severe. The one thing, I would never take it at night because it gives me energy, if I took it at night I'd never sleep. I do notice that it has stopped my waking up at 4:00 a.m. and it also has stopped my 4:00 p.m. slumps, which are classic chronic fatigue adrenal insufficiency symptoms. I've also read it's better to take it topically because in that form it can cross the blood-brain barrier.
Agree with some comments here. Been off and on DHEA 25mg a day. 58 old male 5 days a week in gym. Test blood every 4 to 6 months. DHEA is a hit or miss. Sometimes I feel great and lately sluggish. Just tested last week waiting for results. The best advice is test before then after and frequently. Also keep in mind that this is a hormone that can throw off other hormones. Life extension has their annual blood tests sale going on right now. I would take advantage of it. Also functional doctors can help guide you through this; your regular doctor has no clue. UPDATE: Just received my blood test results. My Testosterone was 532 from 360. My estridiol went up to 28.7 from 27.4. But my DHEA was 73.9! I expected this to be like 200 to 300. My last readings including DHEA back in November 2021 was 298. Bad reading or did fasting 12 hours before test affect the outcome? Well im going to kick up DHEA to 50mg a day see what that does.
I’m 38 yr old female n just got back my female hormone test. My dhea is suppose to be in the range 2-19 at my age. Mine came up as .2. On a journey to figure stuff out. Being a women is not easy.
Been there and it was so severe my hair looked fried, I had no energy physically, but mind was active. Started on DHEA, 50mg/day, and that reversed it for years, but had to stop because I felt I needed to get back my normal production. C19 caused more hair loss so working on that. Divorce helped.
Years ago it was found that my Test was low. I was put on Androgel. My Dr swore that it would fix my levels and refused to double check to make sure. When it looked like he was going to lose his license I switched doctors. The new one tested my levels and found no improvement so he switched me to an injectable. At best, my levels were low normal. Ended up eventually going to a fertility doctor and they put me on Clomiphene. That seemed to help some. In October I went keto and incorporated IF. I had my levels tested in March and my levels were high. The lesson I learned is that diet can have a much larger impact than pharmaceuticals can.
@Aaron Merrill I'm not convinced that losing weight impacted my testosterone levels. The reason I say this is that I had mild success in losing weight before and after a 20 lb weight loss, my test levels went down. I agree that body fat itself can mess with hormones but my experience is that diet is much more important. My diet may have been low fat at that point which could have also tanked my levels. Either way, the choice to go keto and do IF resulted in increased test as well as improving a lot of other issues.
@@LuisGonzalez-gb4uh check your "Free" testosterone not just overall test. Also consider taking Primave Shilajit and Shoden Ashwagandha (cycle it) from nootropicsdepot.
Just got my blood results back after being in keto for about 5 months straight. My dhea-sulfate was 630 lol. Very high end of normal. Can't tell if it's bad because I've never tested it before but I feel great. I've read as long as your estradiol (e2), dht, etc. is normal then you're good since dhea can be converted into all that.

I’m going to talk to my clinic tomorrow and if they only recommend testosterone replacement therapy then I know they’re not truly a good clinic to be at because in reality they should try the DHEA supplementation first

Switched things up a few weeks ago. Stopped taking all my supplements that have Bio-Perines in them, and added in Creatine & Tong-Kat Ali. Feeling a little better and more energized. Hopefully I will see more muscle mass soon. Might cycle DHEA back in again. It's been a good long while. Quit the 20z. can of White Claw every night, and I'm sleeping much better with D3/K2 & Magnesium after dinner. Now, if I can just kick the coffee habit...

Interesting on the adding berberine to DHEA supplementation if insulin resistant. I was hesitant before at taking DHEA because of this as well as how it can also fuel estrogen. I was thinking more DIM + DHEA but if berberine is sufficient I already take that (plus exercise, diet and IF)
Just wondering if you can give advice for those of us who have to work third shift. What are ways we can optimize our health, what supplements would be beneficial and how we can have good sleep hygiene?
While you're kind of wrong I told my endocrinologist what you said that taking DHEA will raise a woman's testosterone she told me it's fine to take a small dose of DHEA but she also sent a prescription for compounded testosterone a very low dose because my free testosterone is low she said DHEA will not get my testosterone to a good level. So it's best to get blood test find out what your low on and consult a professional she did say 5 to 10 mg of DHEA for a woman is fine
thank for this because I have a doctor who is so against this and I know this and it's hard to find a doctor in my city who will treat this exact problem. Are you a naturopath?? can we talk. I appreciate this very much.
Thanks for this stuff, mike, really appreciated. Started taking DHEA about a month ago (left comments under another Video of yours how to get the stuff in Europe) and so far its very promising, i feel pretty good, substantially increased mood, higher activity levels, increased libido ... and that could very well be the DHEA (or spring, who knows, haha). I understand I'm a bit late with that question, but: does taking external DHEA affect the glands? Do they shut down even more, like it happens with external Testosterone? Thanks in advance, greetings from Germany 🙂
I dont understand Europe, why is so much stuff banned? Who the h3ll gets to decide? Why do you let government pricks treat you like children? I have DHEA at a store down the street, the same place I buy my chocolate bars and Red Bull. Of course last week I also bought a gorgous lever action 357 rifle so... 55 yo male, just started taking 30m dhea per day. Feel like my mood and energy is a little better but it is being negated by my sleep being affected. I find my mind is more active at night and I'm having crazy dreams, so waking up feeling tired. Anyone have a similar experience with dhea?
He said 10 mg per decade so you could try 50-60 mg. If you take in am, take at night. If you take at night, try in the morning. I am glad to hear you say you're getting dreams because I never dream. Usually a sign of getting deeper sleep but if you feel less rested, that doesn't sound good. Maybe taken 12 hours earlier or later, the dreams aren't so tiring.
I'm 36 years old, last year was a really rough one for me. I already live with Generalized Anxiety. And after my rough year, I felt like my antidepressant wasn't working. My doctor changed my antidepressant. I felt good for like 3 months until it drops so bad. He changed my dose. Dind't do nothing. I went for check, for my hormones. Progesterone was low, testosterone was low, DHEA-S was low, my Cortisol was ''ok'', Vitamin D was not really high, too. My understanding is an endocrinologist looks at this area. Is that who you'd recomend for an official diagnoses of what's wrong with me?
My thoughts are get a diagnosis, and then go and see a functional medicine team and get their help fixing the prob, rather than have a standard doctor just shove drugs at me.
Taking DHEA has been linked to prostate cancers?
My cortisol is too high in the morning. My melatonin is also high in the morning. My ACTH is too low. Any suggestions?
I do 25mg in the morning and 25mg at night. Will that work ?
I have very high / out of range DHEA, but slightly low testosterone? Does that make any sense. What could be going on?
This isn’t common but I do see it. Are you male/female and what’s age?
@@Highintensityhealth I'm male, 32 years old. I've been unwell with a strange issue with extreme thirst, dehydration and fatigue for a few years. I do not have diabetes. All bloods are normal other than high DHEA, intermittently low testosterone, and slightly high creatinine (probably because I'm dehydrated no matter what I drink).
@@swamphawk6227 That's what was suspected initially but I've multiple tests for that and even tried Desmopressin the replacement hormone. It's not Central DI or Nephrogenic DI.

The problem is that the DHEA pathway has been shown to be erratic and there is no good consistent literature on use and dosing of DHEA. The literature gives undertones that supplementation should therefore be with caution. Please advise.
There's good literature on dosing, but it's best to ensure people test and not whimsically take.
I did the DUTCH test and its flawed for sure. I did serum tests prior and after and serum test were low on male hormones both times and dutch test says im high on male hormones.
my DHEAS is 8.5 umol/L is that good or bad??? I'm 36 years old and suffer with brain fog and fatigue.
Now, I'm treated for Progesterone, and I see an improvment but not a biiiig one. This week, I'm going to be treated for my DHEA and Testosterone. Do you think I could also add Adrenal Glandulars, too??? Thank you for your answer!
update?
So both products in your “alpha stack” are bedtime items now?
If you have low cortisol and high estradiol is it okay to supplement with dhea?
Scientists come up with (sometimes) with the funniest names for conditions haha
If people were sick of your videos haha they wouldn't make it far enough to have heard you quote them hahahaha I don't think I share any other channel's videos as much as I do yours
Do you have any info on PMDD? I
Do you think testosterone is indicated in PMDD? I have PMDD and my estrogen and progesterone are normal but low dhea and testosterone. I feel great just before ovulating and noticed on my dutch test testosterone rises then. Wondering if the PMDD is low testosterone in relation to E and P during that time of the cycle
Dosing for women in menopause or after menopause question I wasn't clear if you is there if you were advocating 25% of the man's dose or 25% less than the man's dose
25% LESS than the man's dose. Women peri or post start at 5 mg or 10 mg. Go slow.
Just got my saliva cortisol plus DHEA levels back; paid out of pocket. DHEA is on the low normal side 2.2; ref range 2-23. Morning cortisol 7.8 morning (range: 3.7-9.5; noon: 1.8 (range: 1.2-3.0); 5pm: 0.8 (range: 0.6-1.9); and bedtime: 0.5 (range: 0.4-1.0). I have the most energy during the morning, and fatigue sets in around noon. I used to have insomnia. ACTH was tested a year ago, showing 7 without stimulation. I’m 44.
Gosh. You look so young!
@@boomerang0101 Thanks. I’m 45 but ppl think I’m in my 20s. They, also, think my 16yr old daughter is my sister.
Taking 200mg of Dhea supplements an my test results still in lower part of test range , trying to figure out why it won't increase my Dhea levels
Ps cortisol is high and testosterone low
Any ideas?
I got immediate high blood pressure when I took DHEA supplement, is this common?
research it....
@@annaburns5382 thanks mom
Perfect. I just had to make my doc order me tests. Both low. But estrogen high.
I don't know what's worse. Dry thanksgiving turkey or vaginal dryness.
Agree, neither one is good!!
Chicken is better, a dry vagina is no bueno
Dhea gives me terrible acne and mood swings. Tried a lower dose and there is no work around.
Interesting, what's your gender and age?
Take it with DIM
👍
I take 25 mg of dhea, I'm 66 and work with a "keto-doc" - specialist in integrative medicine
What are your thoughts on 7 Keto DHEA? 100 mg BID 63 years old active lifestyle like 20k steps a day abs 30 minutes of HIIT daily with body weight and various weights. I feel great often but I occasionally crash. Hard. I often experience the inverted cortisol response you have described
Hi Tim! Not a fan of 7 Keto DHEA...IMO probably best at your age to just hit 100 mg in the evening of a micronized DHEA. My 2 cents.
You’re overtraining… that’s the main reason
I am turning 70 does that mean I take 70 mg
Correct, try 50mg first. DHEA is sold in 25mg, 50mg and 100mg
I take 30 mg of Prenenolone (the "grandmother of ALL hormones") time release 2 hours before bed 3 days a week on workout days.
My understanding is it will then convert into the other hormones my body needs with excercose, sleep, healthy nutrishtion, etc.
I'm slleping better, stress is managed, focus and brain functions have improved, energy and improved sence of wellbeling.
Please comment...Thanks

Do you think FDA approved is safe? haha this is safer
Mike I challenge you, Do you even understand the correct kind of DHEA to supplement? I don't think you do?
