Hi
I read that as "Win a Traxxas, Dumbass.". Ahh, my disdain for them truly rests deep within my psyche.
the rlaarlo probably has a turned down start punch which can help with lower power batteries managing battery life a bit better & for less wear on weaker drive trains.
The ESC programming between the 2 seems to be different. The ZD racing seems to have more throttle punch and less breaking, but the Rlaarlo seems to have less throttle punch but more breaking. This would explain the self-right vs standing backflip delimma.
Thankfully, I don't need to buy one because I bought MJX Hyper Go trucks 2 years ago on Tomley's recommendation and THEY CANNOT BE DESTROYED.
They look identical. If it weren’t for some parts on these trucks being different colors, you couldn’t tell them apart.
Yes, very few differences
I want to know are these company's only rebranding companies wich buy these from bigger manufacturers maybe order specific types. This was cheaper because other companies got the same
@@Nordlicht05 zd racing produces these cars and rlaarlo buys them from zd Racing
@@AsurasWrath164 thx
Rlaarlo ROG1 is 1/14 scale while ZD's 1/16.
Self right is about the brake. the Rlaarlo will have a better brake whilst the ZD might be set to drag brake... which is better for handling on a track. you can normally modify the brake vs drag brake setting with a program card. Ill make sure we get them in for both of these ESC's as I think we will stock both of these now!
Regarding ESC, we consider that this is a small car and will be used by many children, so we slowed down the start setting by 7% so that it will not be too violent to cause injury in a short distance. If you need to do a flip on the spot, it is recommended to use a 60A ESC with an electronic turbine function, which can provide double the explosive power! Thank you for making it! Very good!
What about the driveshafts breaking?
Hi ! Does the ROG1 have a gyro function built in ?
The driveshafts are trash
they are cool, but i really cant help it i just love the 1/10 scale rc cars feel like they are the perfect size
Traxxas 1/10 scale cars...upssss i mean 1//8😅😂😅 or actual 1/10 like tamiya tt02, associated mt10, tekno sct410, hobao hyper tt 2.0😊
Thanks so much for your valuable feedback and thorough testing! 😊 We really appreciate hearing from experienced experts like you, and your insights are incredibly valuable to us.
Regarding the issue with the rear driveshaft snapping, which you noted in the ROG1, I’ve already passed this on to our product manager and the factory team. We’re taking this seriously and will investigate thoroughly to ensure necessary upgrades and improvements are made. 🔧
i will buy one as soon as this issue is solved..

@@Rlaarlo Thank you very much for your reply,Guys!...be sure i will join the Rlaarlo family very soon.
It's cool to see a manufacturer take the time to comment on a video and it's great to see a manufacturer take a bit of criticism in a positive light and move forward with improving their products. I've only recently started hearing about your company but I'm thoroughly impressed with the products you are releasing and the quality of them. There are definitely a few rigs in your line up I hope to add to my collection soon 👍 great work and keep it up 👌✌️

Your support means a lot, and we’re excited to continue pushing forward. Keep an eye out-great things are definitely on the way! 👌✌
In case you did not realize, it's an evolution of the lc/wltoys 1/14 platform. Drive shafts seem to be compatible so at least they are cheap and easy to find.
I’ll have to see if they are the same. I have a few spares if they are 😇
Hurry up i wanna order one lol@@TomleyRC
100%??
They arę compatible?
Are they compatible?
It looks like the body is slightly taller on the rlaarlo, that and it being slightly thicker will help the self right. The softer lower shell will squish more and make it sit flat when its upside down where the rlaalo sits at an angle when its upside down so it rocks back an forth better.
That doesn't explain the standing flips though
@@stephennogare no but it explains why the car that can standing flip can't self right . And I'm sure tomley mentions the soft start on the rlaarlo compared to the high punch from the zd so maybe that explains why it standing flips 🤷.
I love the strawberry phone case! 😂
Haha… me too!
In my review, the only actual drawback for me was that range. That car is too fast to have such short range. In the very next video mine got destroyed because of the range cutting out on one of my friends. The Rlaarlo is otherwise the most impressive and nicest small basher I've ever seen. But that range hurts it a bit.
Open the receiver box the antenna is stuffed inside leave it out helps alot
150 meter is pretty good
Just buy a dozen drive shafts I guess 😂
Excellent review. Hopefully someone will come up with more robust drive shafts. Both trucks look fun to drive.
…Your accent tho ❤😂
Great review, let's hope there is a revision. I saw there was going to be a V2 Omni Terminator so hopefully that means they care about customer satisfaction
Hopefully. I really like the Onni, only broke an arm after some serious bashing
Fantastic bashing and review, Phil! 😃
But yeah, those seem to be a bit too fragile... Which is a shame. The Gantry Pro you reviewed almost 2 years ago is cheaper and took much more abuse!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yes, some of those small ones just keep on going!
9:10 dilemma, it's because of two things;
The ZD make standing back flip because is about 2cm shorter (front to back) than Rlaarlo, but can't self right because has less breakage than Rlaarlo-9:49.
Great video, as always! I find it frustrating with any RC when the drive shafts, a-arms, or turnbuckle arms are the first things to go. So I appreciate this video, because your testing means I dont have to, which, to nobodies surprise, means mine last much longer.
I will pass on these if drive shaft snaps are as common as they seem to be, and look elsewhere. Honestly, kind of flooded with mini's lately, so eager to see some more proper 1/10 rc's come out again!!
Keep up the good work, I will keep watching!
Shout out to Tomley for the McFarland shirt. The Cletus guys all love RC’s
Cheers dude… Tye is a friend of mine, he sometimes can be seen in one of my hoodies 😇👌
Hopefully they sort the drive shaft issue. These look cool and the power is great.
🤞🏻
Just set droop screws add lil grease
@@RcPlayer-tt2vwwhat exactly do you mean?
I broke a front shaft on my HB R1001 Beluga, Learned my lesson, always crawl and trail before you bash!
I have that radio -- it's the Dumbo X6PM-350, the miniaturized version of their popular X6. The only difference between those and the retail version (just comparing them on your camera) is that the retail X6PM-350 has an exposed DIP switch bank for setting some additional stuff.
The ROG1 is the best RTR 1/14 scale on the market
If that's all that's wrong with these cars is the drive shaft. I'll take them all day long cuz they look like loads of fun. For as fast as they are and to only have the drive shafts as the weak part. That's very impressive..
That watch ⌚️ thou 🧨💥
🫡😇
Thanks for the review! My Omni Terminator is really tough with none of the shaft issues. Strange and disappointing that these are so fragile.
Whelp! I just Ordered one and have run two packs through it on my track at the house. I think they updated it, this thing is a BEAST. I ordered another one just now, lol, it handles great off road and is ridiculously fast and tough. Having a blast
Good to know! I might have to give it another go 👌

I've just ordered mine can't wait it's the same has the Rlaarlo Omni-Terminator I think put small 😊😊😊
Definitely the OMNI Ts baby sister.
Nice video mate. Can't see why the ZD Racing one comes with DVDs. (05:50) Surely they could have upgraded that to blueray at least.... 🤣
Alex kowaliuk here so are wow ralarlo is killing it imagine if they used that same quality in a 1/5 or 1/8 truck the big names might have some real competition
Nicely done 2-4-1 review Phil. I’m pretty sure Rlaarlo is on the stick in making some better hardened steel dog bones. This happened on one of their earlier buggies, ( the plum colored one) and new hardened steel dog bones were manufactured very shortly after problems kept happening. You’d think this would of come with hardened steel ones after their previous experience. Still a great and well done truck! Think I like this better than the 1/14 mjx myself, but you know what they say; “opinions are like butt holes, every one has one”😂👍🏻
Nice sentence: opinions are like butt holes, every one has one🤣People always have opinions, even if you do a good job you can't please everyone. I love Rlaarlo cars too, they are trying to produce the best products. If they are not collided frequently, these RC cars are not easy to be broken.
Cool vid Phil . Cheers for the comparison .
Cheers dude
This is another excellent video. The ground level camera shots were great. The two trucks look like a lot of fun. You know some people will take the to a skatepark and they will have some broken parts. The ZED Racing version is. little cheaper. You mentioned that the ZED racing version was describe as 16th scale and Rlaarlo was 14th scale because it said 14+ on the box. I thought with some trucks 14+ meant for ages for 14 and older.
Look forward to your Mojave Grom review. I've just got one about a week ago, but haven't had time to take it out for a run as the weather has been appalling.
Been out today, it’s great fun 👍
Been loving the arrma groms. I have slammed the granite around the skatepark for a while but there's barely any damage
Great review Phil thanks. I almost bought the Rlaarlo based on others reviews as they didn't have breakages or didn't mention them. I think I'll invest in a Team Associated MT10. Pretty much the toughest MT on the market for the price.
MT10 is a good choice 👍. I saw a couple break them, but mate. I was just unlucky… a concrete skate park is always going to bring out the weaknesses, but these didn’t hold up anywhere near as good as other stuff I’ve taken there 🤷🏼♂️
@@TomleyRCit was your MT10 video that made me want one! It’s your fault Phil haha 😂
Yes the skate park is hard on any RC Vehicle hitting concrete lol.
I love the mini's. I like the smaller scales'. I do plan on 1/10th and bigger soon, but I am loving the small stuff a lot a lot right now. Thanks for the review.
1:40 As an electrician that worked with live circuits of 88, 230, 440kV, I still get impressed with these tiny motors running at 3,600KV!
😛
Is this meant to be funny or do you really dont know what the kv rating means? Im asking because.... ehm its just not funny.
@@AsurasWrath164It's funny. If you pay attention to the way I wrote kV and KV. Electricians know the difference. And, you missed the part where I said I am an electrician, didn't you?
@@unloveableandre ah, i understand. A kind of joke only children deem funny. Peepee-poopoo level!
No, you don't...
Talking about things that are the same... I just realised that the new MJX H8H 1/8 crawler is basically a Yikong/Absima chassis.
I actually have the Absima Bronco, it's had a lot of use over the past 18 months & it's still 99% original, the only thing I've changed is the pinion gear & I've added scale items.
I haven't even had to put oil in the shocks.! 😉
I only run it on 4S too.!
It's a really really good RC, I can't recommend them highly enough.
The Absima costs around £500, so £400 for the MJX with a FOC Brushless system is fantastic value.!!
It was the "All Rock" in the MJX's name that made me look closer, the Yikong is called "All Rock" in some markets.
The H8H has definitely made its way onto my list.!! 👍 👍 👍
I got offered one, but declined. It looks good, but there are so many crawlers now it’s hard to keep up!
Hey Alan, what were your shocks like on the absima bronco?
Ball top and bottom?
Always fancied one 😁
I was disappointed with a few things on the absima cr1.8 yucatan (yikong yk4082)
The main one being it having fixed straight cut shock tops on and not having balls so can pivot.
Axles rotate, i'm talking about, as the wheel goes up one side it travels further inwards as does the opposite side, thats not rocket science lol
However the fixed shock at 90° restricted that movement, it literally locks the suspension out from compressing freely and properly without putting sideways strain through the shock to accommodate for that.
Albeit minor rotation, yet enough to have drastic effect.
Wish I'd bought the yikong version tbh, from what I could see they had better suitable shocks, could have saved some money and time lol.
Apart from that and a couple of minor niggles, its a fantastic crawler, after changing the shocks 😉 love mine now it works as it should ❤ it's had hundreds of runs and still going strong 💪 😂
Hey Phil awesome video! I think I bought like 10 tickets for your Raffall so high hopes on my first traxxas (consider I won’t pay the money for one 😂) but I ended up pulling the trigger on this new ROG1. I think I got a sweet deal, placed an order + a 10% discount and got it for $145 even after taxes and shipping. I know the drive shaft is a bit weak but I know the price is going to up on these, plus I know I don’t drive my RCs at skateparks (although it shouldn’t be that weak still) and if that’s the only main issue, for the price it may not be a bad deal. Anyways Cheers Phil, keeping making amazing content per usual 🔥💯
The fact the more punchy one couldn't self-right is definitely a head scratcher!
The rel has that heavy break that allows it to come off the back as the zed has that turbo to kick it into that back flip from Stand from what it looks like to me
I hope someone like "M2C" makes stronger driveshafts. great video. ty.
I have the JSI version, and they are the same. Funny how Rlaarlo likes to make it seem like they are like the bigger brands, but they only rebrand RCs and not actually developed by them.
We started joint research and development! We sold it exclusively, but ZD changed its mind later. We will not cooperate with them on new chassis structures in the future! We made some differentiation! Thank you for your attention!
@@EdisonRCWorkshop That is a bit weird because ZD were showing this at the 2024 China Hobby Expo, while Rlaarlo was focused on the Omni and MK07.
Bunch of haters Jesus 😂 you know the RC must be good , 😂😂😂😂
@@RcPlayer-tt2vw haters? This are toys man, who the heck hates toys...
You could get an inexpensive shore durometer to find out if the plastic is abs (about D100) or nylon (about D70)
I’m not really that fussed 😅
🤬 that sucks such an easy fix too The Omni terminator has the same problem, the driveshafts and output cups always break way too easily. I’m thinking maybe it’s the hard breaks
I gave my Terminator some serious abuse and it wasn’t too bad. Although I’ve only ran a handful of packs through it
That's because it is overpowered
I have 2 Mojave Groms. Looking forward to your testing. The differentials are complete trash so be prepared to replace them after the 1st or 2nd runs. Other than the diff's, it's a fun car.
There's a third model called the JSI PT14R. Different colors and front bumper but other than that looks identical to the ZD inside.
There's even a fourth one from a different company that I've got. I think one factory is making these and different logos are getting stuck on
@@mattscheaprc whaaaat 4 of them? Rlaarlo, ZD, JSI and... What is it called?
@@RinkaiKouen I'm not entirely sure what their name is, branding is a bit all over the place. They are a new company to RC cars and this is their first. I'll be making a video about it soon. From what I can tell it's identical to the Rlaarlo and ZD but different body shell.
@@mattscheaprc Then I think we have the same... Identical to the ZD inside. The Rlaarlo has a few diferences, most notably a diferent ESC.
@@mattscheaprcthey are all made by zd racing
These companies overseas really need to hire someone to pick better names. 😅
😅
It’s what happens when the marketing ppl don’t have a good grasp of the language they’re selling to. They just throw words out.
Love the 20 minute long videos ❤
I like to try and get it all done on 1 video… I know people don’t like part 1…2… 3 etc 😇
First of all I wouldn't carry it to skate park they are great racing dirt type trucks it's like he was proving his point he had that in mind before he started he went to skate park to soon before showing how awesome the trucks really are
I tested these exactly the same way I’ve tested many mini RC Trucks. They’ll be fine on some grass or a small dirt track, but I even broke it on grass 🤷🏼♂️
Self righting ability is down to the ESC's braking ability, and the standing start backflip is a function of the ESC's throttle up curve. I assume the one that can't backflip was tuned to not do that as easily because you generally want the car to stay on the ground when accelerating :P
George is going to be a flying squirrel 😂😂
I grew out of this in my 20’s I’m not going back now but it’s fun to reminisce through you guys I just wish you could see how weird it looks seeing a grown man playing with his toys around kids parks and getting mad wen kids get in the way 😂😂😂😂😂
Never grow up and never let other people tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing with your time. 😇
My AM-D12 has the same issue with the Drive shafts, that seems to be Rlaarlos Signature. I'm passing on these.
I haven’t run mine enough to find out any weaknesses. Hopefully they’ll have a fix
Well that was a shame. I like the look of that newer Arrma truck though.
I'd love to see when you test the Arrma Mojave Grom. In my opinion, Mojave is Arrma's best Grom.
Had some fun with it today… tough little thing!
Debating this or the Mojave for the kids, driveshaft issue is a minor design flaw on where they reduced the dogbone.
My granite has to be fully locked with diffs and steel drivetrain to hold up brushless and arrma still hasn’t figured that out. It’s fine if you stay brushed ~20mph
Mjx hyper go for the win . Again 🎉. Second what ravenlotans said phil build a rc out of the spare parts and broken stuff you have laying about that could be realy interesting 🤔
No
Quite solid performance from these little trucks (except drive shafts). The Team Associated lot in your bench's background, are they for us to drool over or will they be built at one point 😁🤝
Nice rippers . A Goosky took all my rc allowance 😁🥴
😅
Damn...that makes me sad! Great video anyway! Did I hear you right 5 wire servo?
Makes me wonder if you could take the drive shafts off heat them up and heat quench them. I wonder if it would harden them up more than they are now. I'd like to see somebody try.
Yoo new vid is fire. Imma be real if the oarts werent diiferent colors i would not be able to tell the difference.
Cheers dude
I got my daughter a FTX Tracer brushless. So far it's been pretty solid.
Good choice 👌
@@TomleyRC it was on your recommendation. I will get her the oil shocks shortly.
I'm really interested in seeing your video of the mojave grom. I've got one and like it allot!
Would like to see how you would do a brushless conversion. I tried jamming the mjx citroen rally electronics in there but could not get the mesh right. So, I turned it back to stock. And I'll probably order a castle system for it or something like that..
Thank you for the review and the entertainment!
The furitek drop in system is the way to go. It's made just to fit Groms, it even comes with a servo mount. 3s capable and makes the Mojave a 50 plus mph missile. Best of all its only $99. They should own the Grom market once word gets out.
These look good Phil. I have a 22 yr old daughter with autism and she likes rc. She has a 1/18 FTX Utah.... she's slowly getting the hang of it wants one a bit bigger. Which would be more manageable do you think ? My friend Will Pattinson said you're the best judge !
Thanks in advance !
welp, that was the best self-right i've ever seen, upvoted!
I would imagine the rlarlolol gets more amps on the low end than the ZD but the ZD needs a slight run up to deliver the same power that's why it wont bite as hard when braking to self right or back flip standing.
Good theory 👌
Interesting. I cracked a front CVD on mine but that was only after losing a screw and I figured it overextended. I wonder if they are making these axle shafts too hard or maybe it's just that they're putting too much power through them.
Guys, it's a 3S 80km/h system on a 1/14 car. Of ocurse it's gonna break hehe Even the Granite self destroys out of the box on 3S eventually.
Yes, I think I saw that. I mean I know skate parks are never good for RC Cars… but 3 breakages the same and not even 1 pack through either of them during that session 🤷🏼♂️
Are there any stronger drive shafts out there. WOULD adjusting the slipper clutch help maybe less punch on launch
I’ve not seen anything out there yet
Yeah I saw a video where somebody did set the slipper clutch. But I didn't see the results on how that panned out. 👍👍
I would love to have thoes they are sweet the black one looks like a big rock grom but better 🎉🎉
Looking to shop for a new RC. Any plans to review on the Arrma Mojave Grom?
Cute phone case there Phil! LOL
I’m glad you liked it… as I was editing the video I knew it would be a topic in the comments 😅
They both broke way to easy 💯💯💯
I'm wondering if MJX drive shafts will fit in that, that'll fix the problem😊
Sounds like one or both of the cars need receiver program adjusting or possibly ESC adjustment. But the range thing, that's not great
I'm guessing the self righting issue is to do with the braking setup in the esc.
Could be 🤷🏼♂️
Or are the tyres slightly different which could be why the Rlarrlo has a higher top speed if they are ballooning up more
Brake application curve is different hence the self righting difference.
Purchased the ZD Racing for my 11 year old son for Christmas, and now I'm quite concerned. Such a bummer to see if break so easily because I know he's going to bash the ever loving hell out of it. I'm wondering if I should order something else and have it rush delivered. Based on your experience, are there any other trucks you would recommend that offer the same level of performance in the same price range, but might hold up better? Thank you very much for your honest review.
both those transmitters look like cheaper Dumbo RC remotes. I wonder if they are and a better one would work with those? I have 3 DumboRC transmitters now, they seem to be getting more popular with these OEMS now
Dumbo rc is waaaay bettet than that crap.
I see Wheelie Yellow building his van on one of these!
Nice phone case. 👌🏻👌🏻
If the Rlaarlo has a gyro onboard in the receiver this may effect the self righting and back flips, pulling throttle out as it has also not got as much initial punch or a set up chsnge to the ESC.
I don’t think it has a gyro
100% i definitely see the size difference!
Wish my wife had that attitude
@@16driver16 that means "Nordlicht speaks slow and makes a thoughtful face" that's not what she said 🤔
Allen!
I wonder if you can buy and fit Rlaarrrllo parts onto the ZD?
How is the throttle response on it? I have the MJX 1/14 truggy and its amazing except for the throttle delay/lag which irks me to no end
The dog bones and cvds on both are made out of pot metal aka monkey metal, breaks very easy
I’m never up to see them this soon 😂
Haha
Great comparison Phil thanks man.
Cheers Alex 👌
Is the ground you're doing speed tests on level?
Level ish…. I always go both ways
I wonder if the mjx driveshafts will fit in this. I have a couple 1/16 mjx parts vehicle’s I’m going to gut out
Was going to get a ROG1 but I dont want to end up repairing these. In the same price range what would be a much better alternative? I like the transmitters have good speed adjustment range is what I need for a child to play with.
From the comments left in your videos and other sources, are basher owners really into 1/14 and 1/16 or even smaller vehicles?
I think a lot of the people that own big ones, like to have at least 1 smaller one for a quick bash out and about
Has Rlaarlo fix The issue with the drive train?
Why didn’t you install the wheelie bar? Would have been interesting to see…

Where did you buy it from? They are not for sale yet?
@@TomleyRC Although they haven't sold it in overseas markets, it has been sold in the Chinese market. I asked a friend to buy it for me.
They sold ROG1 in the Chinese market first and then overseas, with different launch times.
@@TomleyRCI’ve been seeing them all over Aliexpress for like $130-$140 but I thought it would be scam, like when you placed an order (I forgot which car) and you got a little toy grade RC. Weird cuz I also seen a few channels with like a few thousand subs reviewing it but those channels are overseas so idk if they got sent one or bought one.
