Entered, not really that bothered about winning as long as it helps the channel 😊
I wish I could remember the name of a spray I used to buy that you can spray over all areas of your dirt bike,,and if your out in dust, sandy, mud ,sticky sand and you litrally pressure wash down and it comes of clean ,,was a little expensive. Also I have a hot racing air skirt that goes over the entire tub of my slash 4x4 ,I was always doing escape fans and generally all electronics did not last as long as they do now ,,it wasn't expensive and stops even fine dust getting in ,,airflow to escape is fine with it aswell ,,there must be similar for that Hobao aswell ,,great vid mate ,thanks hey .Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
That’s a Beastly Beach Machine!!! Very satisfying to watch😮
Hobao is criminally underrated! I have the SSTE and what a great truck. Quality is amazing, gets along wonderfully at the track, and is more than sturdy enough to be a proper basher. Plus it's WAYYY lighter than a kraton 6s
1:20 same here. If I run my cars (crawlers especially) in the wet, I just blow it off with an air compressor (not too hard on electronics) and dry any residual water with a little desk heater then lubricate everything. Drying the residual water that collects in nooks is essential to avoid rusty screws and bearings
Those rooster tails in the sand are epic
That is one awesome build Phil
Oldschool trick for rusty screws: First let them rust, then apply a drop of oldschool oil on there or engine oil and just gently massage it with a toothbrush and then leave it. The screw is now fixed and will not rust any more.
Yeah I know.. I used to restore old push bikes. For me it’s more about time and effort 😅
The beaches there are perfect for rc when the tide is so far out. Can’t beat the east coast!
Sweet build!
I've got to admit... Since I was a kid, I've always love RC buggies more than real cars... Tamiya was the first love.. never got a chance to build one. Did bought a couple of trucks... But this is awesome... And it's one of a kind!!
Super cool! Gives me Kyosho Scorpion vibes 😎
Yes 👌
Never though of building a beach car since they’ve always told me to not take my RC to the beach 😆 looked like a blast filming and bashing about…great vid Phil thx….( in a whispered hush voice Magnitron….Magnitron ) 😂😂😂😂
They fun just clean properly after sand
I always take an rc or 4 to the beach, lol it's so much fun. You really do need to be thorough when cleaning afterwards, especially if you're at a saltwater beach. Saltwater will nuke your electronics and cause rust faster than you can believe
Yeah.. really you need to be stripping them right down to clean after taking them near sand/salt
Have been taken my kyosho flux buggy to the beach for ten years now. Never had to change a screw or arm because of rust. Spraying naked metal (non aluminium) with a rust preventer/converter helps. Proper cleaning as said too. But my rule is, stay above the hightide line/dunes. Sand there is dry and much less salty. I just dust/brush off afterwards.
Go below that line into the more wet/salt sand; gardenhose and more cleaning needed.
13 is THE number to have!
What a beast ! I drive almost exclusively on the beach nowadays, rinse in clean water and blow dry as soon as I come off the beach and the only "damage" is a new rust coloured anodizing on the screw heads :)
Thank you Tom for this video, have distroyed a few cars from beach running
I've got the truggy version of this, the SSTE. They are great vehicles especially for the money. A couple of tips for you:
- head over to make it build it and get some HoBao +8mm wheel hubs, they are great quality (no play) and will allow you to run any 1/8 truggy wheels with no spacing issues. The Truck will have the same stance.
- check the diffs, these are notorious for coming with little or no oil in them
Cheers dude 👌
Lake mi is unsalted😊 the Michigan beach is a perfect place to clean your car and have a blast. Around here if you get your car muddy at the track , take it to the beach and rip it to clean it!
That does sound soooo good!
This looks like soooo much fun. It's awesome mate
I've got the buggy version of this & it's an absolute tank.!
I only ever run it on 6S & in the 3 years I've owned (& abused) it I've hardly had to do anything to it.
The diffs & driveshafts are bulletproof (for my driving anyways).
The shocks are fantastic.!
The arms & steering components are really beefy with good quality steel inserts to prevent wear.
It also handles 👌 👌.!!
They're also fantastic value, especially their ARTR rolling chassis.!
I've got 6 Hobaos & they're all fantastic, the only one that's not really cut out for bashing is the SC10, that's definitely more suited to a race track.!
Hobao make some of the best RCs you can get, especially their 1/8 stuff.!!
It's a shame they're so unrepresented & overlooked in the UK..
Get yourself a Hobao, I absolutely guarantee that you won't regret it.!!
Stay safe out there & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
Agree… they are really underrated. I have the GTB, MTX, VTE2 and this. Thinking I might get the new SCT as well 🤘
Awesome car.
That's a cool build. I like it 👍
I’ll take it, send it over to states! And I’ll play with it on the beaches of Florida!!!!
That's a Rippa! I like the idea of a contest for its identical twin . Cheers dude
Darn tootin I'm getting tickets to try and win that beast!!!
Man that looks like an awesome buggy Phil never seen one before.. well done Hobao 😊 love the filming at the beach.. would love to see it getting some air on a track 😊😊 have a great weekend dude.. Pete 😊
Man that looks soooo good, even with just the plain wheels and NO tires!!!!!!!!!
what a fantastic buggy, brilliant beach rip 👍👍😀😀😎😎
what a ripper! reminds me of the legendary Baja 5B I always wanted as a kid. my promoto looks the same too even though I cleaned it up after a beach bash
Great video 👍
Hello 👋 From Seattle 🇺🇸
Great vid👍
Been running the 9imods for about a year now and really like them. Solid servo for the cost!
This is exactly the build and set up I’ve built on my channel last year.
Fantastic truggy ! Good video
Noice 😇👌
Awesome video, I've been waiting a long time for this one...
😇🤘
that looks sick
Hi phil i aquired an sst cage truggy a couple of years ago with a nitro engine, i converted to brushless with a stock arrma 3s blx sytem and it has been an amazingly fun and great handling rig that has been clocked at 66 mph! Superbly built bit of kit
Well worth 20 mins of my evening, looks great nice to see 4wd in a caged buggy. The lucky winner will be amazed once they get some mega batteries to last 👍
Looks like a great chassis too.
It's got some much potential for just a good all around basher. Not sure a skatepark is where it should be... but for grass/dirt... perfect :)
I always wanted one of those truggy, love the cage look!
Cool build mate.
I love how u r being neutral with RC review, made in which country or brand. U covered almost all. Expensive or cheap. Indoor and outdoor. Pro or beginner. U r the best. Keep it running bro.
Cheers dude. It's exactly what I try to do.... a bit of everything
It does look really good!
Dab the screws with any dry silicone lube and spray light coat on your CVDs. Or switch to Stainless steel screws.
Beautiful work, Phil!!! 😃
Fantastic buggy indeed! And fast as heck!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Go so good ❤❤❤❤❤
I can see it will be awsome 😊
ACF 50 to prevent and reverse rust. Works well. Use it on my Motorbikes here on Scottish west coast. Use a cloth and cotton buds for precision or just spray it everywhere
Phil, I have the same Proline paddle tires and 17mm adaptors for my super wide Bigrock. We have roughly the same speed. The Bigrock will drive on water with the paddles. The super wide arms make it amazingly stable on the water. I would bet your buggy can do just as well.
Thats cool! im a big fan of Hobao really good value for what you get
I have a fully loaded VSE buggy it's tough and handles well
I like the way you talk
Nice truck and build .
I have a set of those Proline Dumonts on my Fireteam and Shredder , both 1/6 ish scale, they work great in sand and snow ⛄
Yeah, they held up so well!
Nice. Was hoping to see you put those street tread wheels on dor a road bash.
8:00 that's kev making you work harder
Very Cool Build 👌
Cheers dude
Them Louise tyres look like they might have been fun. Maybe a bit big but when is a beach basher ever 'normal'? 😂
9imod has become my go to servo of choice as well. Great value to performance ratio...
Tomley on a Friday. Let's go! Love watching the videos. I watch all the way from Nova Scotia, Canada.
Happy Friday Canada 🤘
Wicked! I got those proline paddles for my buggy and I agree, they do smell very good :)
Ok Phil - Just put the CA bottle down and back away 😬
BTW: Excellent video shooting and cutting of the beach footage!
🤣
Beautiful truck..............
I agree!
I think at this location you could have a lot of fun with some of the earlier beach builds that sometimes suffered from too much lose sand, small dunes, bumps and humps that naturally occur there. This really is as close to a perfect flat beach as it can get.
Yes, although it changes all the time
Sweet truggy!
Love this style of buggy. Reminds me of the GV Cage.
Yeah, would be even better if all the electronics were enclosed but you still have the caged look 👌
Hobao is an excellent brand, definitely quality
As an old retired guy who has played with rc for 40 plus years currently scale crawling I have toyed with the idea of making a sand rail based around a traxxas slash 2 wheel drive. I wonder if that 4 wheel drive is a little too easy to drive? Sure looks capable but perhaps a little too capable being 4 wheel drive?
Thank goodness I don’t have any flat hard sand within two hours driving. My latest vehicle is the rc4wd trail finder two 1982 Toyota. What a difference to that beast.
Hell yeah brother !! looks awesome, never used to like the look of buggies but really liking them now, well the ones you show 💯❤🔥
They can be really good fun 👌
Awesome video 📹 as always 👌
I've been messing about putting a 12v kids car body onto a 1/5th scale petrol car 😅😅
Awesome video there Phil mate , I truly love this platform the caged and the Sste are epic truggies ! So underrated. I’ve had mine now for a year and a half and it’s only ever broken £20 in parts and you can get some proper tasty upgrades for them .
Enjoyed this video
❤
Chris 🤙😎🤘💪🫡🚀👊
Cheers Chris. It's my 4th Hobao... and it didn't disappoint! I'll be throwing some nice gnarly tyres on soon and go rip some turf up :)
@ epic 🤙🚀🚀🚀
I live near Lake Michigan. Salt free!
Same here
Perfect 👌
6:12 it’s fine! The rims will self clearance🤣
😅
Nice Nice Nice
Pretty sic!🤙
Looks beachin'
🏖️
And they are sold out!! C’mon man! Now I want one
Booooo
I think you want thinner fluid to keep the front end down but if they are just balloning and staying on the ground thicc fluids the way to go. It might make it do more wheelies, but its very lcg 10/10!
Yes 👍
11:13 when you move to Canada you can run that in the snow.....I think if you smoothed out the bottom chassis plate it'd be epic.....
Yeah, wish we had snow more often over here!
ACF-50 is the very product for corrosion protection. Anyone with a motorbike will attest to this
👍Video
Those Louise tyres 😂😂
haha... I know right lol
mann im loving this. this is a fantastic build. im glad you went with proline tires. you should try the belted version and compare the difference on the sand. that sand is fun to drive on but def gets all in the diffs. im about to service my kagama diffs soon because of that. whoever wins the twin is gonna have a blast. later bro.
Cheers dude. I think I might take the time to give this one a good strip and clean. It’s too good to let sit and go rusty
nice car, nice spot, nice driver😜❤️👍🌤️
Cheers dude
Got those tires all mounted up, just waiting on some upgraded hexes from Amazon for my Big Rock 6s to go snow shredding.
Nice!
the 4wd baja 5b we wanted
as borat would say ..very nice..
very nice !!!!
Ask Sean B what tyre glue he uses for tyres mate. It's good stuff.
I think it was poor prep on my part... but I'll not be doing anymore haha
Spray vehicles with ptfe lube before going near sand and salt , 😊
That roller is amazing. I would love to have one but will settle for what i can afford which is What i already have and not a part more. 😂 may put a new rx upgrade on one of my kids 😅
It’s actually really good value I think for what you get
There seems to be an obsession with four wheel drive but I like just rear wheel drive for the faster trucks although I've only got the traxxas rustler and bigfoot. I took care to get the weight distribution right but they are great fun for beach ripping.
Yeah, 2wd is super fun at the beach. I’ve taken loads there 🥳
May I recommend ACF50.
I use it on my motorbike and it's basically immune to corrosion, it doesn't react with plastics either if you're worried it might melt something. 😄
Come on Tomley please do a review on the mn99s v2 😂
😅
New Hobao sc10 v2 just announced too.
Yes, looks awesome! I may have to treat myself 😇
I have entered the comp! This car is soooooo good! If i dont win, how much in total did it cost to make? Great video as always!
Awesome video Phil.
You mentioned tuning the centre diff. Can I ask a quick bit of advice please. I need to do a full service on my FTX DR8. Some people suggest 10K front and rear, and 100k in the centre. But I've also seen a suggestion of 100k front and rear, and 500k in the centre. Any general thoughts on which I should go for (I only do gentle woodlands and gravel bashing, no jumping or anything)
Thanks in advance 👍
Beach is really fun but it sure is punishing for the car
4:40 oooh red locktite, you don't want THAT coming off do ya?
If you're making this a dedicated beach buggy, you might want to pick up some air cleaner foam to put over the end of the motor and over the fan for the speed controller so you don't suck sand into the gubbins.
Yeah.. red for the pinion.. blue for the rest. The brushless motors are usually oaky, it’s the fans & receiver that take a hit
I hit everything with WD-40 Silicon spray after wet work, it keeps the rust away and pushes the water out pretty dang effectively. I've brought rusted bits back with it too.
Yeah, it’s good stuff.
super build and video very nice but i wont run an rc on the beach due to rust and corrosion had an ftx outlaw on a beach and it did not fair well
BTW, Phil, do you remember the Gantry Pro? I bought one and I'm waiting for it to arrive, but looks like now it already comes with oil shocks! Without the paddle wheels, but they sell them separately for cheap, so...
Yes... that thing was awesome, but let down by the shocks. So that should be a blast now!
Absolutely love an Hobao 😊 and i pronounce it the same way as you😂
Yeah, they are awesome things!
"13"!!!
Not bad at all
I have four kiddos that all love your videos and all want rc cars.. would love a giveaway 😍 lmao or four lol
lol… cheers for watching (all of you) 😇
