I remember in high school we had a 40k club. Someone there played chaos every week and always brought Abbadon to lead his army. He was such a terror in game that any time he was killed the person who killed him painted a tiny A on the minis weapon.
He wasnt that bad back then. Especially against psykers with abilities similar to eldars thousand blade attack which hits for more than he can save for.
Thank you for inspiring me to redo my 90s Abaddon. Ive been watching your channel for about a fortnight now and I've really been enjoying it. Such a great idea and I wish you a long and successful YT carrier.
I would love to see a before and after on these kinds of videos, just to see how much better it can look in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Great work and the finished product looks great!
Seriously now considering the metal Abaddon for my army, also the tamia panel liner comes in a real nice brown too, i had to order both from hong kong as couldnt get it anywhere in the uk!!!. Nice, real nice job here btw!
One of the very few instances where I've seen that model painted and it's not a confused mess ! That claw really is the focal point. Excellent job of a very overblown figure. I've always assumed the name was pronounced in a Nottingham dialect 'He's a baddun' (he's a bad one) Thanks for posting !
I recently bought good old samael in metal from ebay (because I'm not willing to go trough the pain of such an big model out of finecast) and I threw him nail polish remover.... Worked absolutely wonders and I never got any used mini that clean before (and no I didn't used a sonic cleaner... Just 2 Glas jars and a toothbrush)
That's pretty tight dude, nice work! I've actually got one of these sitting around on my shelf; might have to resurrect it and finish it off! All the best dude.
Nicely done. I don’t know if it was intentional you’ve based him somewhat similarly to the Forgeworld Horus model. Either way it’s a nice reference. Tamiya stuff is indeed good. I use that panel line accent for Gunpla and their weathering compact sets are what I’ve been using to dip my toes into weathering pigments. Thanks for the video.
be careful using tamya panel liner stuff on plastic mini it can make the brittle and don't use it on prodos resin or any of the flexible resin it sends them proper floppy like wet green stuff.
Looks great like always, I am just curious though, why not paint the sides of the sword? Maybe it's just me but that really draws my eye when you are doing the rotation around the mini.
The name is from the book of Revelation, where Abaddon (Apollyon in Greek, Abaddon is his Hebrew name) is a demon who comes as the head of a swarm of horse-locust during the end of the world. The ABBA-don pronunciation is correct I believe (as opposed to ab-ADD-un), if it is pronounced the same as the biblical name.
Why not use MEK to strip metal miniatures? Its ultra fast and nothing can stand against it. I love the stuff. Also good for cleaning dried paint from airbrushes
@@eBayMiniatureRescues YES, it will destroy plastic. I use it on metal miniatures only. That being said, your methods of removing paint from plastic figures is incredible. I never thought of using an ultrasonic cleaner. I'm a new sub, i like your presentation, style and calm atmosphere of your videos. Thanks 👍 Happy New Year.
Pretty simple actually. An inexpensive compressor from amazon. Just have to make sure it has a regulator and moisture trap. The airbrush I mostly use is a badger patriot 105, also pretty inexpensive. All in all about $150 for a full halfway decent setup :)
quick tip: Don't use isopropyl alcohol, use NAILVARNISH REMOVER but without acetone! It removes paint so much more better than isopropyl alcohol and those without acetone wont damage the plastic ;)
Casey using his airbrush when Abaddon suddenly appears from the Immaterium: "I am the Arch-fiend, the Despoiler of Worlds, and by my hands shall the false Emperor fall." Casey: "Man, I gotta stop breathing these paint fumes..." BTW - fantastic job on the figure, and good luck with the auction!
Thanks! I shoot Vallejo varnish through my airbrush all the time, works great! It cleans out pretty much the same as any regular acrylic paint too :) Hope that helps!
I just scored my first airbrush/compressor setup (a Master kit I found on Amazon) recently for about the same price as you scored your rig for, and my questions are as follows: 1.) Is a sonic cleaner good for cleaning airbrushes with or is there another/better way you prefer to do so? 2.) What ratio of paint to thinner do you normally use in your airbrush's cup, and PSI should be about what, 15-20 on average? Thanks, man!
Can't answer the first question, but the answer the second is....it depends. It depends on what you're going for, what paint you're using, what you're using to thin. Even PSI - I sometimes us 30ish PSI, and gentle pull back on the trigger, or more robust at 20. I know, real helpful. lol
I have quite a few Tamiya paints and products for my model car building, however the alcohol based paints tend to dry too fast so you also need retarder. Also mixing them with regular paints on a wet pallette doesnt really work too well. I have used a few of them on my minis though, for example the clear red darkened up a bit gives a really nice blood effect. Just a sidenote the black panel liner is an enamel wash, it works quite well for pinwashing, but for larger areas it tends to be just a bit too runny.
It is pronounced A-buh-don. The people at GW fuck his name up as much as they do Roboute Guilliman (French name, pronounced "Rew-bo G-eew-mow". Another great video by the way.
I heard it that way forever until I started painting again. People were correcting me and pointing me to the GW painting videos...super confusing, because even they aren’t consistent about it lol. I’ve also heard that the character is pronounced that way while the paint is the other way? Who knows.

Stories like these are the real magic of the hobby! Thanks for sharing.
Who would have thought the paint was so important it got a man named after it
A truly important paint!
I thought the paint was called Abaddon but the mini was called Abaddon?
@@andyskelton9228 No, it's the other way around.
@@JustAlex96 sorry, typo, corrected it now.
@@andyskelton9228 no it’s still wrong it’s spelt abaddon and abaddon not abaddon and abaddon

This is great! Although... there's one thing that bothers me to no end: Y U NO PAINT THE SWORD'S SIDES?
Asking the real questions!
I like it makes it pop like a comic like it’s bold
THE WHOLE VIDEO I'M THINKING WHY.. WHY ARE THE SIDES OF THE SWORD BLACK? Great job tho.
My guess is that it is optical trick to make blede look thinner.
Your painting style is so unique. Love hearing your thought process and the confidence with your vision for each model.
He’s such a derpy version but classic. Great save on this one.
You know Failbaddon the Armless has reached a low when he needs to be rescued
I was waiting for him to just leave the arms off. XD

Love orchestral background music! Really adds that grimdark 40k tone. Excellent work, as always :)
Awesome video great work, and the red orange and yellow is a good tip for me going forward, thanks.

Coming from Derby and I have never made that connection. That's just blown my mind!
It’s the Hebrew name of the Angel of the bottomless pit. Abba-don is the correct pronunciation. Not “abbadun” lol

Love the really dramatic cliff base you made on this guy! Awesome! Abbadabbadon got me lol
Takes me back. Waaaay back. That looks awesome
I really liked that paint job. Awesome work 😊
Keep doing what you're doing Casey, i love this channel. The entertainment and knowledge you provide is outstanding and i sincerely thank you for it.
Isn't Testers panel liner enamel and not oil? subtle but important distinction when it comes to what you can and cannot do after it.
The first color I'm going to use is "Corn Bread"...
😂 hence forth
My drilled barrel disorder has been sated. Cheers Casey. Keep up the great work
Yabba-Dabba-Donny looks great. Another stellar rescue
The blitzonic is a beautiful machine. It deserved to be rescued. Oh the mini is excellent as always.
Just call him Ezeckyle.
Only thing is they use both "ee-zeek-iel", and "ehz-eh-kyle" throughout the horus heresy audiooks 🤐
Yeah it's bad, always hated the name changes from book to book.
That poor hammer might want a cleaning itself as well :P Love the shape of the base by the way.
Haha. That hammers been around a while, still works :)
no more warhammer 40k. From now on its poorhammer by the way.
Ultrasonic explodes.
Buys a replacement from a thrift store.
I wonder what could possibly happen next week.... ;) Great video dude!!
I just use nail polish remover and a soft bristle toothbrush on metal figs. The paint and glue come off in minutes
It’s “Ababdabadon” from now on.
Classic Failbaddon is still a nice model, even when it has a few decades under its belt.
Great paintjob!

Our painting Dark Lord is painting a Dark Lord. Excellent!
Killer job!
Perfect chill video for a Sunday evening :)
If you have the time soak in dettol for a few months it even removes all the super glue
Is it possible to be nostalgic for an era you didn't experience? That's how that Abaddon mini is making me feel right now.

What is the reference of this black wash ? (and yours can you give again the precise products you are using ?) GREAT JOB THANKS !

Every damn time I see this dude use an airbrush I'm blown away by his accuracy
I'd use simple green as the solvent.
Ab ad don. Say it properly!! My dad has an agitator for jewelry cleaning. 1st time watching your channel. I like it a lot!
In the white dwarf article of pronunciation, it is said ah-bah-donn
But they call the paint uh bad un...it’s a confusing thing. I even asked Peachy from Warhammer Community, in person, he didn’t have an answer.
bruh do you have a spotify playlist cause all the music in your vids are f'in good. and the paint jobs are sick

What do you use to thin your metallics?
hey! So you most likely have said this before already, but what kind of brushes do you usually use? :)

Brand new to this channel. I'm just curious, what'd this piece wind up selling for?
Shouldn't the sword/claws go white-red-orange-yellow not white-yellow-orange-red
Failbadon the armless has been uh armed
No don't rescue Failbaddon you'll doom us all!
Pre-watch Ultimatum: If you don't use Abaddon Black in this video, we riot.
His name is Ezekyle :3
Fairly certain it's pronounced like the band ABBA
So ABBA-dawn.
Source: the audiobooks i think
one of the fallen ones from the abyss..pronounced Ah baa don....an archangel ..and his Greek equivalent Apollyon..show respect..lol
If you listen to the audio books it is Abba - Don not abad - on

That Kislez flesh paint pot is dried out now.
Great work on this one. Maybe "Abby" might work - he looks like someone who would be HAPPY being called "Abby".
Abaddon is pronounced, FLIPPING-EPIC-PAINT-JOB 👍🏻
Wait wait wait, I know I'm 2 years late to the party here but can we possibly go over what you meant by your sonic cleaner, "exploded?"
The sides of that sword really need painting...
Maybe, I thought it looked pretty cool though.
Orson Welles clearly pronounces it Abaddon in Manowar´s Dark Avenger. Orson Welles' pronunciation pretty much is definitive.
