Love this idea! Also, a Sisters of Battle Kill Team has two Fire Teams of 5 models, so you bring 10 models total! It's bad wording but you definitely want to bring a full team of 10 with you :)
These are by far some of the best kitbashed minis I’ve seen in a long time. And not many people do sisters kitbashes so I absolutely love this!!!! I need a kill team made like this! Let the bit collecting commence!
I'm working on some Nurgle sisters inspired by Malenia and Scarlet Rot from Elden Ring, the Order of the Cleanrot. Super cool to see more Sisters conversions!
No matter how “pure and righteous” a sister of battle is, eventually there’s always a level of Warp energy that will corrupt anyone short of Blank, Custodes or grey knight. So yeah it’s really hard to corrupt a sister but Chaos is boring like that sometimes. Chaos doesn’t always give you a choice.
And besides, I can think of a hundred different 40k stories where intense devotion to the emperor gets twisted into intense devotion to a Chaos god, both without the worshipper realizing it and with. Add to that we write our own stories, and there you go! On a long deployment in a backwater system, disease ravages the Sisters. But lo! A miracle from the Emperor saves Sister Justinia from the brink of death, and though she bears the plagues, they bother her not! Praise be to Him who delivers us from the ravages of illness, praise be to Him who gives life even amidst this foulness! And so it begins...
Right, so the spehs mereens can just flex chaos away but the army that is specifically about having such faith that they get actual greater daemons of the emperor just fall to chaos like that sometimes.
I have a Death Guard army that I've steered/converted lately into Nurgle Sisters. This is super helpful and I'll def be working this into my next couple Plague Marine squads.
Yo Casey, it's a like before I even watch the video, you never fail to amaze and introduce me to new models as I just enjoy painting and not playing. So now you've put nurgles on my radar, thanks dude.
I’ve been wracking my brain on how I could do this. I didn’t realize until now YOU DID IT!!! I’m going to try and make a combat patrol of sisters to give it a shot. I think this will be a huge passion project since I love both death guard and sisters.
those nurgle paintjobs on your entire force are pretty damn excellent. good job on the conversions too, just fits like a glove. a slimy, strangely undulating glove...
I have a picture saved that someone drew of a Sister but she was decked out in Space Wolf colors and furs, etc. I'm doing my first army right now but I might go for Sisters for #2 and do a chapter-specific scheme. On second thought, a kill team might be a better idea than an army hahaha. Great video!
A problem I didn't think about with this dual purpose army/kill-team is yes, the conversion definitely jives and could be used as either or, but I see you've put them on 32mm bases to fit with the *plague marine* theme, however sisters IIRC are on 28mm (unless they changed sisters to heroic scale when I wasn't paying attention. Anyway its still a really cool conversion just yeah base sizes are kinda unfortunate)
I’m think you’re right they are supposed to be 28mm. Honestly I was using the bases the used models came on and didn’t think about it. But for a friendly game I don’t think anyone will mind. As far as a complete swap of an army, yeah that does present an issue.
You could, but I’m planning on just swapping out the profiles from sisters to dg plague marines. Same weapons pretty much, and the stat changes are basically just more toughness and less speed. I would only be playing in friendly games with people I know anyways, so it doesn’t have to make too much sense.
I cut my finger and took the bandaid off cause it was getting in the way of my paintbrush, turns out when you film in 4K and pretty close that looks kinda gross, so I decided to blur it. I’m alright though, thanks for asking :)
'So, why did you turn to the worship of nurgle?' "Figured it was my best bet for making sure I don't get used as finger paint by grey knights." 'yeah, that tracks. Personally, I'm just here for the dental benefits.'
Honestly it's pure convenience. I've used both a lot and while the airbrush dries quicker, the difference is almost non-existent (if you keep the can under control). If I were going to paint a display model, or something for a competition, I would definitely use my airbrush over the can. Having that extra control makes sense, but for gaming pieces, I can roll the dice a little :)
I have difficulty with the idea of using an airbrush for something so tiny for other than base coats or priming *twitch*. But I have a big old Reaper Bones Cthulhu sitting on my desk as we speak that I've earmarked as an airbrush project. Other than painting with brighter colors (like this Cthulhu will be) and trying to get a better handle on NMM, getting better with my airbrush is another goal I think I should set for this year. Or try to anyway.
Setting aside a model for specific practice is great! Personally I find that when I come upon a crossroads, so to speak, and I could use either or, I pick the tool that I want to practice and use the other as a fallback or cleanup step if I screw it up. Just taking those opportunities when they come up gets you in the habit of knowing when you can use a tool you weren’t sure about before. Especially if it works out really well and you didn’t think it could!
I have been wanting to make a chaos sisters of battle, never thought to go death guard was thinking more slaanesh ya know? I have no idea for colors but one of my favorite colors is purple. I went with red as a secondary but it didn't come out to great imo. I had used a freebie model from my local store and horns/spikes cut off a pox walker.
Slaanesh would be a perfect conversion for sisters. You could definitely use Daemonettes as a base. Colors wise, purple is great, and if you wanted some red you could make the skin warmer with red undertones. But black, silver, and purple with a hint of red would make them feel real slannesh. like the eyes could be red, or they could have a heat glow on their weapons or something.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thank you so much for the advice! Do you have any slaanesh kits you would recommend? I was also thinking of daughters of khaine kits but there is a size difference between them to consider as well. Something to use like heads or boots, weapons etc, Like the sisters fell to depravity was the kind of look I was picturing in my mind.
@@silva352 no problem :) definitely the Daemonettes kit, just the basic troops, the size would be pretty close and they have some sweet head options that would fit really well on a sisters body. The DoK kits could be great as well, they are already on their way towards slaanesh too. I would think that the size would work for them as well. Could be nice to get a few used models of each and see which one looks better. That would be the road I would take for sure.
Lore-wise, there's no problem with playing them as already-corrupted Plague Marines. As for using the Sister's rules, I'd like to think that this (i.e., any Killteam match you are playing) is when they realised the corruption took hold, but they retain just enough willpower and faith to carry on their last suicide mission before Chaos inevitably claims them.
That’s a perfect way to look at it, and why I love doing conversions like this. It’s just a quick story jump away to make the models even more compelling and fun for a small game like killteam :)
I used the new Angel Giraldez infinity brush which I think comes standard with a .4 needle, but it’s variable when it shoots so you can get details like a .2. Really cool airbrush!
Excuse my ignorance I'm not too familiar with tabletop, but can you actually play these like nurgle units or do you have to play them as standard sisters of battle.
The idea is that you could play them as either types of models. As long as who you play with is cool with that. Generally I find that when you put work into something and it looks very intentional then people are pretty forgiving with conversions like this. I’m positive I could use these 5 minis as a plague marine squad or a battle sister squad and nobody would mind.
@@nitroboss8466 me too, I’ve only seen a handful, which is super weird in this hobby. My guess is that the new sisters kits are just too new, not many people invested in them because of the price and even used they can be high, you get lucky sometimes though.
