From what I can tell they are more like service documents stating the armour has been properly maintained and blessed by the Tech Marines, and thus would be replaced every time the armour is serviced. Just with added religious and gothic over the topness. I would assume in heavy combat the seals would break, burn away or fall off - signalling the Marine that their armour requires a looking at and new seals are needed once the work is done.

That actually makes a lot of sense! They're in a dark derelict husk of spaceships, not on a parade. Still, if/when I start my box I think I'm going a bit brighter on the red anyway because I like it more than Guy's one, should be a minor adjustment I hope

imo, at the stage: "THATS NOT RED!" if you would have done a covering with a red contrast, perhaps even diluted, you would have made the armor pop more red rather than rusty orange, just some thoughts
This board game is what got me into miniature painting. I purchased the 4th edition off ebay for a little under 200 bucks and when I got the minis I thought, "these miniatures are too cool and too expensive to not have any color." I then went on youtube and searched for how to paint blood angel space marines. That was about 5 years ago now. One of the few board games I have COMPLETED painted.
If you feel like putting together a sweet hobby lamp you could do what I did. Get one of those super slim LED exterior flood lights (remember to get lots of cord too) and install it into a microphone stand with a boom, the only thing you might need for this apart from the main components would be some electrical tape, a plug and maybe a nut to affix the light to the boom (I wouldn't even bother to put a light switch I switch mine off with the switch in my hobby desk extension cord oh and don't go crazy with the size of the lamp itself i'd recomend either 5, 15 or 20W at most) This whole lamp should not run you more than 40/50 USD unless you want to pick a mic stand with more features or higher quality.

Bought the game a year or so back after I found a sealed copy in a shop in Germany for a decent price, bought the paints to paint everything, realised I hadn't painted anything in 25 years and was incompetent back then. It still awaits painting.

@@alexforty905 I am in a similar boat being 50 now. Excellent lighting and a set of headgear magnifiers, just a low enough magnification to make up of aging eyes, makes all the difference.
These were my first 40k miniatures (2013 re-release) and I gave myself a go last spring while lockdown. Really glad I painted them and it wasn't so hard after all as I could take my time with them :-)

I was very fortunate to pick up several sets when this edition came out. It was an exciting time. Also, I spent way too much time painting these Blood Angels. Not because I had a hard time getting through the painting, but because they were just enjoyable to paint. They have a special place in my heart.
I liked the sculpts for the Terminators, but they lacked clear facings, which is important in Space Hulk. And they lacked two flamers. Using an Assault Cannon on missions where you flame a room as a substitute changes the tactics somewhat.
look, its ok to take the mick out of spacemarines. if they want to run around purging everything that is not human (even though they are very loosely human after all the implants and genetic modifications) they kind of set themselves up for it. Also, it is ok to celebrate their successes, & proudly displaying their gymkhana rosettes.
I remember when this came out. At my local GW everyone wanted to have the terminators. Yea like you said, they were sold out extremely fast and every weekend when I was at the GW at least one person came in asking for a box :D This lasted for a good few weeks.
One is the color blindness but its also a different style of achieving the objective. It looks to me personally more of a worn red, the kind of thing you'd see on a surface after years and years of use.

..... I love guy and penny but this video hurt my feelings in a good way lol I was like..... how did those base coat come out so good under the illusion of just slapping paint on "stares intently at my paint desk" how has this happened lol but they look amazing and I'm ready to give it a go
You should grab a .05 Micron black art pen, and doodle script on your various seals and such. It sticks well, especially if you seal them after. It's SOOO much easier to make tiny little marks with an ink pen than with a brush.
While that is a very cool colour ....its just not BA. Far too orangey. They look like something, its on the tip of my tongue but i cant think of what it is. But not BA
im not going to lie, in the beginning, i was not feeling that color of red that was chosen. but in the end, i really appreciated how dynamic and different that looked. really well done. also i need to grab that royal purple for the cloaks of my custodes. that is such a nice color.
Agrax Earthshade has a fair bit of black in it. The wash might have been a bit cleaner with Reikland Fleshshade or Seraphim Sepia instead of doubling down on the dark tone with Agrax and Nuln Oil. This is pretty awesome. After watching this video these models are in my queue. The level of detail on them is so daunting!
Not sure if this is a weird suggestion, but I'd love to see a video on how you film your painting videos. Like, how you have the camera set up, lighting, etc.
You’ve inspired me to dig out my pristine copy of this game and paint the BA terminators for a proper set with which to play. Your techniques will produce a great look that many can use to combat the hordes of grey plastic.

But it is red, just not the usual red used for blood angels, I personally prefer this though, more gritty and dirty looking, not new and saturated

The side lamps are actually discontinued now, annoyingly. The big top one is a Task Lamp XL
