Just with added religious and gothic over the topness. I would assume in heavy combat the seals would break, burn away or fall off - signalling the Marine that their armour requires a looking at and new seals are needed once the work is done.
@@MidwinterMinis I'll admit as a blood angels player I was skeptical at first about it being mostly orange and orangey yellow, but this turned out awesome, I did not expect the result.
I like this style of video where there are small sections where you go on camera and tell us a tip or not to worry about something because it feels more like we are being spoken to directly and I like that in a video
These were my first 40k miniatures (2013 re-release) and I gave myself a go last spring while lockdown. Really glad I painted them and it wasn't so hard after all as I could take my time with them :-)
So over the weekend I cleaned the models up and drilled out the bolters. I did a major pain culling going back to probably 1993. Funny but many of the most ancient Citadel paints have survived thanks to the pliable plastic rubber seals on the old pots. I also came across an OLD pot of Blood Angel Orange so don't go telling me Blood Angels must be red! Most of the GW paints from the intervening years are shot because of crappy lids of course. I restocked with a healthy collection of Vallejo and GW as suited, got some other supplies, cleaned my old modeling/painting area, and got a new case to store and organize the paints by shade. Everything sits vertically, I can immediately go to each area by shade to choose a color, and additional ones can stack and lock together. Tonight I will mount them all on large flat head nails with a dab of hot glue. I then can stand them all in a foam block. I use large nails because in the past I had done large quantities of minis via dipping. I found I could set up an assembly line dipping by putting the nail into a drill, dipping, moving over to a box with a hole in the top cut out for the mini, inserting said mini and giving a low RPM spin, then sitting it back in the block. I also of course could paint while holding the nail.
I was very fortunate to pick up several sets when this edition came out. It was an exciting time. Also, I spent way too much time painting these Blood Angels. Not because I had a hard time getting through the painting, but because they were just enjoyable to paint. They have a special place in my heart.
I know you probably won't ever see this, @Midwinter Minis , but I just wanted to say - I've been in and out of the hobby since Space Crusade and nothing has been more encouraging to me to paint my minis than your videos. Thanks so much for everything you do for the hobby.
The other day, I had a dream with Guy. He was giving me a masterclass on minis painting and I was so spellbound by seeing him painting and talking in front of me that I took Guy's paint water and drank it. He was looking surprised
This board game is what got me into miniature painting. I purchased the 4th edition off ebay for a little under 200 bucks and when I got the minis I thought, "these miniatures are too cool and too expensive to not have any color." I then went on youtube and searched for how to paint blood angel space marines. That was about 5 years ago now. One of the few board games I have COMPLETED painted.
If you feel like putting together a sweet hobby lamp you could do what I did. Get one of those super slim LED exterior flood lights (remember to get lots of cord too) and install it into a microphone stand with a boom, the only thing you might need for this apart from the main components would be some electrical tape, a plug and maybe a nut to affix the light to the boom (I wouldn't even bother to put a light switch I switch mine off with the switch in my hobby desk extension cord oh and don't go crazy with the size of the lamp itself i'd recomend either 5, 15 or 20W at most) This whole lamp should not run you more than 40/50 USD unless you want to pick a mic stand with more features or higher quality.
