I've used that duck dive technique you talk about in several videos and even with years and years of experience I never figured that out on my own. I definitely enjoy hearing a master talk about surfing a wave I'll probably never surf. And in the meantime I'll pick up techniques that improve my surfing. Super appreciative.

These beat-down, breakdowns are awesome. And, great hearing you explain some of these concepts repeatedly, like duck diving before that secondary explosion. I’ve only done it a couple times, where I just got lucky, never understanding why, until hearing and seeing you explain it. These are priceless videos. no one else shows their beat downs with a GoPro in mouth.

Checking on others is the right way to be in the water. None of us knows when we will need help. It never fails, we get a good swell (here in SO New Jersey) and its inevitable a swimmer, boogie boarder or other surfer needs a hand. The lifeguards can only protect so much. Thanks for these videos. They are truly helpful.

Going to Bali in a couple months and these analyzation type videos are so helpful man. I don't live near the ocean so can't surf as much as I would like, never took lessons past 8 ft foamies riding whitewater and just honestly don't have the experience/intuition/knowledge that I think is necessary to be the best surfer I can at this moment right now . But these videos have seriously taught me so much and I've only watched 3 so far and I've learned like 5 things that just by knowing are gonna help me, and more that I can practice when I actually get to surfing. Seriously appreciate you man your sharing knowledge that takes serious time to learn, and you put it in an easily digestible way which is dope. So glad I found this channel you my favorite surfer now lmao for real tho thank you man!!!!

Love these videos suprised theres not more youtubers talking more about bad situations and what to do. had a scary situation today got out of work was tired shoulda stayed home but was a good size day especially for here paddled out near a jetty pretty easy got out past the jetty the current was real serious out past it and a set started rolling in got under the first few then got hammered twice came up looked ended up real close to the jetty paddled like crazy before the next 1 hit luckily got away from it and rode the white water in hugging my board gasping for air. Definitely need more of these types of videos on UA-cam. Thanks for these

Great video Nathan. Having been waiting for one like this since ever! I'm definitely not happy with the pounding waves that broke on you, but I'm glad to see that I'm not alone and basically everyone goes through the same process! Cool to see that there are other people who also check to see how's everyone doing. I also always try to keep track of who's out there and if they're popping out from underwater after a set comes crashing. It scares the s out of me when sometimes you just see a board and can't seem to find someone's who hasn't one!!!
Thanks for the video, very educational as always!!

"what is ok for me may not be ok for someone with less experience". I don't remember the exact words but the point is the mindset of this guy is he's looking out for others in a dangerous environment. My surfing days are well and truly over and we didn't have the internet or GoPro in my day. But its great to see the young pro surfers these days giving back and watching out for others. If that can be extended beyond the sport of surfing, then maybe, just maybe, mankind has a chance!
