No conspiracies to be found here unfortunately, just the very real world experience of knowledgable racers who have traveled the path to success and have imparted their own findings to help assist with diagnoses of our RX7's misfire issues. Thanks again to all those racers! If you're a fueltech racer with a quick methnol powered rotary and you'd love to share data or ideas, hit me up!

Don’t forget to read the video description for time tags and information before commenting ! Looking forward to putting all the advice and chat into practice in the near future. Can’t wait for Jamboree in QLD and seeing cars like the Monster performance and Hurstville Towing RX7 in action! #289forLIFE Going to have the camera out to shoot some interviews, so if you’re racing, let’s chat !
Anyone else? :P
Put some 28x9’s on and I’ll put your name in lights 😂😂 looking to film as much as I can on Friday and as little as I have to sat/sun. If you’re racing, I’ll hunt you down but over the weekend. Start rehearsing your answers to; *who are you, where are you from and what is the car, *Detailed overview of what is the engine/turbo/management/drivetrain combo, *best et/mph, *why XYZ car?, *how long have you owned it?, *goals for the car at jamboree, *goals for the car long term, *shoutout to sponsors and support crew.
@@BroomysGarage we will be on a 28x10.5 (down from 11.5). We will be testing Friday, but staying in Pro Turbo because all the heavy hitters are in Pro Compact. If there's time for some grudgies I'll give anyone on a small tyre a go 🤷♂
Can you even enter pro turbo with a 2 rotor ? Seems like it should only be for 3 rotor and 6 cyl cars. I will see you on Friday then. Wear your finest ABR t shirt.
@@BroomysGarage Yeah, it's both. Have you not seen my race suit? I don't need no shirt! lol
Hey Broomy, I'm not sure how much plug gap matters in rotaries, but going silly tight has helped me quite a bit. Just last week I helped a fellow racer who had misfires at .015" plug gap. He had been chasing his tail all day. I recommended .010" and the problem went away completely. This was on a 50/50 mix of VP M1 and C85. Just food for thought!
I use that same setup for my CAS on my ft550 and I've never had a hiccup. Even when I used a microsquirt this CAS setup was very nice and clean.
plug chopping is what two stroke motor bike guys do for tuning. turn it off at high rpm and read the plug.
Don't give up, keep up the work, " if running 7 SEC was easy everybody would be doing it"🏆🏁🏁
I knew a methed up rotary guy once but it wasn't the good kind of meth.
That’s methed up
Meth till death 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Keep up the good work mate and persist achieving your goal of hitting that 7 second pass!
Even the gurus in the industry have been through the same challenges of trial and error, experimenting to see what works.
Anyone make it to the 9:55 mark and see why weigh matters just as much as horsepower in Drag Racing ?
I'm surprised the FD is that heavy
You can get an Fd lighter than that. Mines low 2300's pounds with driver as a 28x9 car.
Details please on where I can shed almost 300lbs!
Lexan windows, gut the doors. All the reinforcing out from behind the bumpers. Wilwood brakes all round.
I got my fc down to 880kg and with 450hp ran 10 flat all day for two years, miss that car lol
Good stuff, been wondering where your at with both cars 🤙
Long time between videos but been super active over on the ol Facebook page with heaps of discussion. Much easier to post a photo and type some stuff every couple of days than sit down and film, edit and upload a video unfortunately.
@BroomysGarage yeh nah that's fair enough 👍
Hey Paul I’m a rotary guy and I have a 13bT rx3. Im up in Sydney though. I have a 3000hp hub dyno if you ever need one up here. 15 min from wsid
Yeah probably a bit of a trek 😂 will keep it in mind if we are there and need one ever but 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks
Would it be worth setting up dual band afr or are the runners too short in the manifold???
You can’t run o2 sensors pre turbo. Excessive heat and back pressure make them useless.
Ever considered fiberglass or carbon fiber doors/hood/panels?
Also whats stopping you from running heat/O2 sensors for each rotor?
A) next video (as explained at the end of this video) I will weigh hanging panels and explain this
B) it has individual egt probes in each runner. You cannot run individual o2 sensors pre turbo
@@BroomysGarage thanks for answering, sorry if my questions seemed ignorant. I shouldve known you cant run O2 pre turbo because I've only seen O2 after the turbo
I did watch the whole video and I heard you talk about weighing the door/hood but must've missed where you talked about using carbon fiber or fiberglass replacements.
Im going to talk about the weight of everything in its own video next time
@@BroomysGarage I thought you could run o2 sensors pre turbo they just don't last very long and you need pressure compensation due to the back pressure affect on readings
They would never last at rotary egt’s even if you could accurate compensate for the pressure offset.
Heathcote is planning a turn off after the 1/8 primarily for the Jnrs.
👍🏻 Doubt the gate would ever be operational at a test and tune as you need someone to man it and be ready to open/close it.
How did you not pickup the misfiring issues on the dyno?
First video here I assume ? Welcome. Been covered many times. Dyno and first meets were on 35psi, never misfires. Misfire only crept in on 40+ psi
@@BroomysGarage Thanks for the explanation.
I know how to fix every single one of your problems - and no, I'm not going to say "LS swap it hurf durf!!"
You're right that the engine needed some work, but you forgot to do half of it, and by that I mean the OTHER TWO ROTORS.
Quadrotor quadrotor quadrotor QUADROTOR QUADROTOR QUADROTOR *QUADROTOR QUADROTOR QUADROTOR*
hey broomy dont up shift into neutral if you back off or turn the motor off you will blow your box to bits if you shift into neutral after a pass it makes one of your drums assembly double its max speed and they often explode from the centrifigul forces i think off memery same thing if you turn it off when its going as well dont do a plug chop its silly and in accurate use air fuel ratio or egt'sdont try to fk your box if you like look at mountains garage on you tube he does heaps of t400 boxes he speaks abouts this upshift to neautral or engine stalling wilst rolling at high speed or turning it off
Holy shit mate, commas and periods would have made that a lot easier to read.
Yep, the math doesn't lie.
VP is nice but you are going to pay for it also.
Currently price of M1 in a 205L drum is $1000 (not sure if that is a special or normal price). Current price for cheetah is $480. So double, but not that bad really if there is a proven difference. Just have to confirm that is a regular on going price and not some end of tax season clear the decks rate 😂
@@BroomysGarage True, then you might find a tuning sweet spot and be able to run the other stuff again... if that is the issue.
Swap the setup to the rx4 and put the barra in the fd😜
You know what this car REALLY needs? A fucken twin-turbo 7 litre forged billet LS3, mate.
