Hey! first time viewer here. I came looking for a no nonsense review of the global software without all the hype and sponsored clickbait videos everyone else is putting out. It's refreshing to find someone who has purchased and used the device for a considerable amount of time. Thanks for the excellent review, you've just gained another subscriber.

Hi Ben. I really appreciate your review. I have actually ordered the phone already, the global version, and am getting the MagicPad 2 also. You have just confirmed this is definitely a good buy for me. I intend travelling to Thailand next year sometime so your insights on the apps and notifications and the software generally has been really helpful. I will be downloading Grab as well, lol.

Aye.. I'm still on the Fold 3 because I've been waiting for Samsung to upgrade just at least two of the things my wishlist i.e. 1) a bigger battery, and 2) internal SPen.. I think I need to switch brands now..
So by default you are correct with the china OS routinely killing apps at the background. But that can be easily fixed from the settings.. You just have to disable battery optimisation and “background running” for those preferred apps you wouldn't want to miss notifications for. I personally think that is a much more smarter way of giving users options to decide what to do with their phones. This to me is better than an out of the box battery consuming machine. Think about it. Great video by the way!! ❤
thirst thing you learn on a china device:D and I gotta say you may not like (on default) but that s* f* works - especially the insane level of "stand by time" boost achieved by it.
So by doing that,i can now be getting my notifications right away? Cus i may be getting an vivo x fold 3 (chinese version) but many people say that they are having issues with not getting notifications on theyr apps unless you open the app :/
Magic portal, looks quite useful. That camera hump, bruh! Keep up the good work, Ben. I really appreciate your efforts in churning out these videos for us tech nerds.
I wasn't sure about getting this based purely on the software but this review has helped me make that decision & I'll definitely be getting it. Top review! 👌
Still my favorite foldable. Thin but durable and feels great in hand from the shape and materials. Fold 6 was eben with a good one ui a no go for me. Don't liked it in hand and in my pocket. The Honor-Software I got used to it after a couple of hours of using it intense, as with every system. Now "Circle to search" on the V3 as well. A great addition. Cameras are servicable in addition to my Xiaomi 14 ultra. I'm not as much a point and shoot guy and use also a Nikon Z7 for photography. I like all the manual options. The V3 is my workhorse for all the daily stuff, as I work remotely a lot. Love it ! Great video as always.
Exactly! I was thinking the same. Considering that my phone drops to 50% after 8h while I'm work (so not heavy use at all), the Vivo is quite powerful....
Great video. I just purchased a Mix Fold 3 and I'll never go back to a traditional candy bar style phone. I'm hoping the battery life on the Honor V3 is solid, if so i'll make the upgrade next year when the price goes down to $800.
Solid follow up review for this masterpiece from Honor. Thanks Ben. Samsung Zfold 4 sadly only lasted me 10mths and the inner screen just kaput on me. I am also very disappointing with Samsung service. Cos they cannot advise me a single reason why it totally kaput despite no signs of abuse or physical damage from me the user. I took extreme care of my Zfold 4 and the inner screen still broke after just 10mths. I don’t believe in their hinge design and inner screen durability anymore. Samsunng is just taking its Zfold customers for a ride even after 6 generations.
I have the same problem with you. I bought the fold 4 during the pre-order period 2 years ago.. after 1year of use, the screen when blank ( i didnt drop my phone). Then, a year after that ( last month, aug) same thing happened ( still i didnt drop my phone).. both problem resolved FOC from samsung because im under warranty. Now, my warranty already finished and im afraid it will fail on me again probably next year. Yesterday, i just pre-ordered honor magic v3. Hope theres no problem with it. 1st time user for this brand.
Chinese ROMs have battery restrictions because Chinese apps tend to wake up more often to check for updates or show ads & other stuff like that. It was an arms race between OEMs & app devs a few years ago & this is where it ended up with no app being allowed to wake up because lots of apps were abusing it.
@@vickie_g you can change it in the battery setting. That's what I did and I don't miss any notification... More manipulation to do than a global version but much much cheaper and with white color 😉
It all depends on the ROM. Especially for foldables, there are built-in battery optimizations at the OS level, regardless of setting you change. Also, we can't talk about Chinese ROMs without mentioning the lack of key features like Android Auto and regional support.
@@milpatel83 I got android auto on my white X Fold 3 Pro under Origin OS. Vivo got it on their X series and I heard... Not sure if it's true, but I heard that the chinese V3 has it from the start. Be double check about that last info 😉

Great video Ben! I live in LA and do you recommend Magic V3 over Pixel 9 Pro fold? And also do you have any recommendations where I can get that phone to import it?
Think of the 9Pro Fold being at the poor level of the zFold6.... With same level of OLDER technology. If you like the Google platform, you can just install all the Google apps like what I did... For instance, I just migrating all my apps (thru my Google account) from my Pixel Fold to my OnePlus Open. All them Google apps and took over the stock default apps! Apps like phone, messages, Gboard, contacts, clock, Google assistant... They replaced and improved my phone. I retained almost all my AI integration(!) features, except one... To silence the phone ringing, by saying "silence"... Now my UI also has some extra Google widgets to I can use, like the clock, and I got best of both worlds (Google+OnePlus). IMO, integrating Google apps help your User Interface, and now my phone easily beats Samsung software while having less bloat than Samsung phones as well.
Yes, when it comes to innovation, these Chinese players are way ahead. I think, the only thing they lag behind is the software department but it's good to see that they're trying to make it feel better.

I think the next frontier to tackle in foldable smartphones is including a stylus pen in the smartphone itself, the way it sits in Samsung's Note/S Ultra phones. That would be awesome.
One of my favourite feature of samsung is Samsung Secure Folder. It's essentially a second phone within a phone that you can password protect and make invisible
Smart Capsule (Dynamic island) Honor has achieved Dynamic Island way before the iPhone 14 series, Honor introduced such a feature in 2019 with the launch of Honor V20

Hey Ben 👋... Thanks for another great video. I've had a Vivo X Fold fold for a while now. And one of the reasons I bought it is because it was very new technology, premium build and I loved the cameras if I'm going to spend the amount of money foldables cost I wanted as close to flagship cameras as I could get the size never bothered me. I'm a big guy 6'6" 320 so I loved the screen size and real estate it provided. I say all that to say this. Do you worry about these phones become to thin? To delicate? To easily broken?Especially with them becoming thinner and lighter
Played with the chinese version here in China and it seems like a really good phone! I did notice on the chinese version it still allowed for signing in with a google account and having access to the Play store, all Google apps, etc…is there any reason to get the global version over the chinese version?
Great video Ben. Really love your videos. Can you do a detailed comparison of Z Fold 6 vs Honor Magic V3 softwares ? Samsung is going to pay for their complacency.

I'm a big guy 6'6" 320 so I loved the screen size and real estate it provided. I say all that to say this. Do you worry about these phones become to thin? To delicate? To easily broken?Especially with them becoming thinner and lighter
How do you think it compares with the OnePlus open? Can you do a comparison video?
Played with the chinese version here in China and it seems like a really good phone! I did notice on the chinese version it still allowed for signing in with a google account and having access to the Play store, all Google apps, etc…is there any reason to get the global version over the chinese version?
Great review! Can you install the global edition on Honor purchased in China? Thanks!
Love Ben's video as always ❤❤❤
