    The Clawhammer is the top tier of electric homebrewing setups. I absolutely love it. The price is something I find a little repulsive though, $1700 for the 240v just feels gross.
    They have the best controller and grain-basket in the game though.

    I'd just like to thank you again for this video. This is an outstanding summer brew. It inspired me to make an orange creamsicle IPA and it's the best homebrew I've made. I did make a few changes based on what I had on hand. The only thing I wouldn't repeat is making a 1/2 batch because it was a bit of an experiment and that guarantees a great brew as you have all the work of a full batch and 1/2 the output. I'll be fixing that mistake soon enough.

    So how do you treat the Vanilla Beans? After simple google search: Place the whole bean or the sliced-open empty pod at the bottom of the secondary fermenter. Rack the beer on the vanilla beans before applying the lid and the airlock on the secondary fermenter. Now, simply wait. Typically 2-4 weeks is required to extract the vanilla into the beer. Yes? No? Who cares? Now for those of us that don't use a secondary, can I simply drop the beans thru my airlock bunghole like the dry hops? Or should I simply rack the beer on top of the beans in the fermenter? P.S. You've got the best homebrew channel on UA-cam!

    Been using the 120v claw hammer system for 2 years now when I gotta brew indoors during winter. Everything works great, used it many times, never had any issues and the connections to the pump, plate chiller, and kettle are real simple quick connects and the company gives you just enough tubing for all of it. The grain basket is amazing. Only problem is how long it takes to bring it to mash temp and boil, but that’s not their fault, that’s how 120v electric brewing works. 10/10.

    I have the 20 Gal. 240v Clawhammer system. I started with a Mash & Boil. I love my Clawhammer Supply system. Start with the 10 Gallon system though. I do mostly 5 gal batches and the element is a little close to the top of the wort in the 20gal kettle. Other than that, it’s fantastic.

    • @RuGGeR67
      @RuGGeR67 Рік тому

      @@will5430 yeah it’s a tough one. I live in Southern California and brew in my driveway the evaporation loss changes a good bit. Without a sight glass things can get a little wonky. I have scorched my wort a few times. I’m thinking about getting the 10 gallon kettle for regular batches and using the 20 gal for bigger beers (barely wine and high gravity beers). You can always add a sight glass but it seems like a hassle to keep clean and not break. I still love the system though.

    Glad to see you're brewing again, and I see you're using an electric heating element setup. I've had mine for almost a year and they've worked great, Im heating 12 +/- gallons in less time then with propane. I also noticed I don't get much steam, which was a big concern for me brewing in doors.

  • @chrisgeo1642
    @chrisgeo1642 Рік тому +1

    I started brewing on a propane burner with an igloo cooler mashtun and when I went electric I got the anvil foundry. I really can’t compare it to other systems because I have never used any other systems, out of 25 or so brews on it i have only had 1 system failure and it was on me for being lazy I didn’t check the ball valve and filled it, left it overnight with the timer set for an early brew day and it has leaked all into the wiring under the kettle, the good thing is the system sensed a problem and did t turn on, the bad thing is the system wouldn’t turn on. However i pulled off the bottom and used a hair dryer to dry it all out and it worked fine after. I really would like a claw hammer but I just can’t justify the expense. The way I see it the foundry owes me nothing it was a few hundred bucks and I have had 24 successful brew days. When it eventually shits the bed I might just go back to the labor intensive igloo…nah I’m old and weak I’ll go with the claw hammer and then find a cheap divorce lawyer when my wife finds out how much it costs.

Since I have kept beer at no more than 8 psi. Transferring with 10 psi from fermenter with Co2 tank and about 7 psi in receiving keg has been ok. Anyone have foaming issues with pressurized beer?

    I personally love my Clawhammer System! I bought it almost a year ago and have brewed on it probably 10 times so far. There have been a couple issues but all were resolved by the excellent support provided by the Clawhammer team.
    Issues That I Encountered:
    1. Upon first assembly water was leaking into my electrical connection housing. It seems the bolt on the element was never tightened properly from the manufacturer (not a clawhammer issue), once tightened no more water leaked and it stopped tripping my breaker everytime I turned it on.
    2. On my 3rd or 4th brew day I set everything up and found my pump was not working. Lesson learned check the pump before setting up the kettle. Thankfully I didn't heat up and start mashing in! Clawhammer replaced the pump without question.
    3. On my last brew day I found that my controller kept kicking off even when nothing was plugged into it. I contacted Clawhammer and they immediately sent me a replacement GFCI unit for my controller. I replaced that and so far no issues, though I have yet to brew it does remain powered on so I believe that situation is resolved.
    4. I have a problem with a white hazy residue on my heating element, have tried everything to clean it and gave up, will live with it as it's not a game stopper.
    5. My grain basket has some small spikes sticking off the top so I catch my hand sometimes and start bleeding, no biggie just more iron for my beer LOL
    All in all I would give this system and the clawhammer support a 10/10 and would recommend this system to anyone wishing to move to electric brewing.

    • @alyazmohamed6411
      @alyazmohamed6411 Рік тому +1

      @codebowl Рік тому +1

      @@alyazmohamed6411 Yea I will probably do that, first I am going to try to soak it in some barkeepers friend once it gets too bad, it's odd scrubbing it won't take it off but you can scrape it off so if barkeepers friend does not take it off then i will deal with it until it starts to effect my beer then I will replace it. Currently it does not appear to effect anything.,

    Letting you know what system I have: Igloo cooler and a welded keggle. I've tried multiple all in one electric systems and just end up selling them and coming back to this. I like the simplicity and the shorter brew days of direct fire. I also find that being able to boil the absolute hell out of my wort gives me clearer beer faster. Finally, it's just easier to clean. No parts and pieces to be wary of losing/damaging. I've been using the same keggle and igloo for 12 years at this point with brief stints trying all in ones here and there (grainfather, mash & boil).
    I think it's best to just save the money not buying fancy all in ones and just buy more fun ingredients to make beer instead.
    The only nice piece of gear I think people should splurge on besides kegging is a nice chiller setup. So much less labor intensive to chill in one pass from kettle to fv. No stirring. No wasting a bunch of water. No splashing. No bs
    Keep up the good work braj
