Right stick click to cancel is genius. I don't use feints enough, largely because I've always struggled with the input to make it come out smooth. Not having to move your thumb makes it feel WAY more intuitive.
Another tip for parrying is if you don’t have trigger stops I recommend switching your light attack with your heavy attack so heave with R1 and light with R2
I honestly feel like this is more of a preference thing because I’ve tried it before but, these days controllers have such sensitive/ responsive triggers that it doesn’t necessarily make a difference. It’s worth the try for everyone though, may like the feel. Thanks for the tip 💪🏾
7 years muscle memory gonna mess me up for this but i’m doing it, if it’s the only way for me to compete against really sweaty nerds and ultra reaction pc players i gotta adapt
update? thinking about switching, tried mapping things to paddles in the past but muscle memory got the better of me, wondering if it’s worth the switch
Thanks appreciate it. Yes hardware does matter but I’m a console player. I used my pc to do the video though. I dealt with playing at 30 frames to 60. Now on console we get 120 so I decided to stay on console. That explains why my rep is so low in the video. Console I’m 280
Tried out for 3mins deflects are really easy funny enough , the hardest part is muscle memory training that b button no longer cancels and a button Is no longer respawn button parry seems a lot easier for lights even thoe I mastered it , I feel like if I knew about this early on would of helped massively
I see why the cancel for right stick is good thay your always on it , I notice every time I use to fight in 4v4s I would be caught with a lot of lights or even sometimes a heavy because I’m pressing b to cancel a heavy every time I go for that b/ o button i get caught for it , im an Xbox player and I’m around your rep 262 your around presume 280? Since the video was 3 weeks ago
It all takes time. I took a few days to be completely comfortable with it. Now playing like nothing ever changed. Just better at reacting in situations
@fr3shclipz i set this up went in training an i jus can't get the feel for the dodge being LB(xbox) i can't hold my controller with 2 fingers up top it feels soooo weird 😢
Hey I appreciate this video man fr. It’s taking me a minute to get used to only thing I ask though is what is a good fov for parries. I always stuck with default controls, everything. Just wanted to know because it’s been difficult to get used to everything but I looked up videos some say 65, 62, either way if you could help me I’ll really appreciate it man.
Tbh I don’t feel like FOV has a direct impact on parries. That’s mainly personal preference. I keep my FOV to a good place where I can see enemies coming from the side. You main concerns for parries are FPS and latency which can be affected by hardware and internet connection
Hey mate loved the vid you got a sub, been using a similar controller layout since the game first came out although I've definitely tried a ton of different tweaks, one suggestion I got is put lock toggle on (controller settings) and put guard mode to o and target switch to L2, lmk what you think
Hi, PC player here. PC players might watch this because controllers are better for fighting style games than mnk. MnK benefits from shooter games. A mouse tends to change directions in your guard when you don’t want it to. I use a PS4 controller for my PC games in general that aren't FPS games. I like the idea of pressing your stick to cancel the heavy. I play double claw but that's definitely faster than using my index finger on the circle button. Thanks! I don’t deflect really since I don’t play assassins. Should I just keep my dodge on default in that case?
In that case I’d still change the dodge button to one where I never have to move my thumbs from the sticks. Movement and guard position is the most important thing. Lower time to react by never having to remove your thumbs
Absolute GAMECHANGER only took me 30 minites of practicing to get the hang of it and after 1 online game I had it down light parry and deflects have never been so easy and Iv played off and on since launch so muscle memory is already there
Is there any reason you changed dodge being on L3? I just watched your last video and in theory that seems very good, was L1 just more comfortable in the end?
Yeah I feel like L1 feels perfect from me. The main point is try to limit how often you remove your finger from the attacks movement dodge and guard real. Lowers reaction time
Depends if you have buttons on the back or not. If not I recommend your GB as the right stick. Cancel attack as left stick and dodge as your top left button
That's the thing. Sometimes to be better we have to sacrifice comfort. Then you will become comfortable with being uncomfortable. That goes for life too! Literally play better because of this. Use it on bots to get used to it. Then go online and have discipline to not revert back to the old setting when someone start beating your . You will be okay lol. Took me a week to get used to it
How you have that guard like you hold guard on left and like guard dissapear just like you stop holding L2 you always need to switch where you want to hit if you get my point if you play story mode samurai chapter you will know what im asking you for
The story mode of the game isn’t up to date with the current gameplay of online. When you put your guard to one side online, it no longer moves until you move it. This gameplay change was made a few months ago
Sorry I don't have it on hand rn. But it is in my how to parry lights video. Dont set your deadzone to 0. Atleast have it between 1 and 3. Less= faster reaction
Watch this video from 1:00 to 2:15. Just don’t put your deadzone to 0 because when you let go of guarding one side it can flick to the opposite right after. ua-cam.com/video/tbgWVeIfYio/v-deo.htmlsi=tNyWATHLB3YRJWAN

Yup!!!!! The only time I get caught by guard breaks now are when I’m mid dodge. I’m able to react much quicker
Another tip for parrying is if you don’t have trigger stops I recommend switching your light attack with your heavy attack so heave with R1 and light with R2

Kinda pointless with ps5 controllers as you only need to lightly tap the r2 to get response so there is no difference in time
You a 🐐 for this I appreciate you for the button layout! It definitely make me go even crazier than I was before appreciate you brother 💯

Yeah what he said. I still move my thumb for guard break but in reality it would be better have it in a way to never have to move my thumb away.
At 2:24 how did you do that crouch spun light attack I’ve checked the move sets and I haven’t seem to see it!
That's his zone attack. Press the light and heavy at the same time
i’m sorry, you didn’t know how to do a zone attack?😭
Honestly I prolly should hold my controller like that and change the button mapping but I’m too used to default
