- An Elden Ring player tries Dark Souls for the first time!
Today I finally tried out the game that started the series off. Dark Souls 1. Dark souls is considered one of the best souls games of all time and I have never seen gameplay of it or played it before making this a completely new experience for me! Do I have what it takes to beat one of the best souls games of all time?

I've never actually seen someone not attempt a plunging attack on the Asylum Demon.
My girlfriend waved while on the ledge and got bonked to the ground.
He was too dumb to know what to do
Didn't read a single message
@@adahnliegl740icon
You'd think an ER player would jumping attack on instinct.
“I’m glad I don’t have to fight that giant demon thing over there.”
Famous last words.
Actually , that was a different demon. You plunge through the floor later to fight the Stray Demon later. The first demon is called the Asylum Demon. Peace
@@omniscientgrunk thanks but I already knew
easy boss though love you pfp Long may the sun shine!
@@pascalspitler783 to your valor, to my sword. And the battle fought today! Long may the sun shine!
He knew he did because he has played dark souls before. He’s just lying for content.
Don't know if anyone else pointed this out, but for anyone who isn't aware: The asylum demon and it's variants are the literal model the erdtree avatars in elden ring use. Even the same animations for attacks, right down to the timings.
I forgot how dummy thicc they are
the erdtrees could be the demons maybe, but perhaps afflicted with some kind of illness that caused their own form of hollowing, maybe crimson?
@@zombieboss5178 There is a theory that if you complete Elden Ring with the end of the frenzied flame, it is what begins the era of fire that originates the lore of DS1 later.
Too extend to detail it here, but if you search on the internet you will see better information.
Yea I didn't like that abt ER, felt kinda cheap to fight 4 of the same boss, but a third of the game is like that anyway
@@quintitif you don’t reuse assets that you developed over multiple games you can file for bankruptcy immediately. They reused their assets really smart, for example the parasite things in DS3 were reused to make ulcerated tree spirits. The thing is that 99% don’t even notice it until someone points it out. Elden ring is a big world and still managed to make more new enemy types than all previous Fromsoft games before so I don’t get the frustration. Especially when you have Moonlight Blade wielding magic breathing dragons or dragons that catch a lightning and uses it as a sword and shit. I could go on and on, but Elden ring was ambitious as heck and still delivered. The re using of assets is just absolute standard practice in game development
I would absolutely love to see a full series... After you finish Bloodborne.
I'll finish bloodborne then continue this series 👍
@@itsSpicyGaming DLC too?👀
@@_Significant-Neat_orphan of kos: hold my beer.
@@itsSpicyGaminghaha nonono Dark Souls games first all the way XD
I thought the gravelord mechanic only comes up on NG+.
Never actually seen a gravelord summoning sign when playing, maybe its a local thing?
It's nice to see new people discovering for the first time DS1
If I could I would love to forget everything about Dark Souls and relearn it
Yeah man, I found myself on a trip with my Steam Deck without anything I really fancied playing so I decided to put the money in my Steam Wallet to good use and get DS1.. Coming from ER it's cool to see where it all started.
SADLY It's never on SALE lol.
why would anyone start by anything else
@@didierno-cili started playing few days ago and holy shit
I'm halfway into my first DS3 run (so did DS1 and 2) and I'm 30.
How on earth did I miss such gems
@@heskerterrer9724
All the following games are cooler to play, gameplay wise, but DS1 is something else man. Rushing through the map having no idea if you're going to the right direction only to land in an amazing area or just a new shortcut that will save your progress is a feeling unlike anything else.
Yeah, I'm currently replaying Ds 1 after 3 Elden Ring, 5 Ds 2 and 2 Ds 3 playthroughs after a good 1.5 years and it felt so weird that you couldn't teleport anywhere right off the bat. It was also suprising to see that I killed bosses first try now that I struggled for hours and days with on my first few playthroughs.
I really appreciate Dark Souls 1. It has a special vibe to it, knowing the lore of the later games, it really is interesting to walk among these huge, ''legendary" figures like Gwyn and Artorias.
Yeah DS3 is my favorite, but DS1 is really a special game. It has such an unsettling, dreamy vibe, too.
Eh, I haven’t finished 3 yet but I still prefer this game’s gameplay
I might be biased because I played Dark Souls back in 2011 but it's still a timeless masterpiece to me that I replay at least twice a year. The games world design and builds were so great.
I love the world and lore in DS1 but the combat feels very boring and tbh very easy. Blight town was the biggest disappointment for me I heard so much about it and just breezed through it.
I didn't play this game originally though. I played it after DS3, Bloodborn and Elden Ring.
I love when you mentioned blighttown because you described it perfectly
Fr
11:38 You can slide down ladders by holding down the button you use to roll. Unlike in the other games you don't hold down the left analog stick.
BRO💀 I played the whole damn game without knowing how to. I thought they didn't have the feature
You can also double tap it to do it automatically unlike other games where it just has you let go
Ive played ds games so much i couldnt even explain that. Kind of like how its difficult to describe how to breathe - you just kind of do it.
The fact you slide down the ladders in DS1 with the same input as letting go of the ladder in later games is probably the primary reason people don't know you can slide down ladders in DS1.
Played DS1 with my brother (a souls veteran) for the first time and even he was asking me “how did you slide down the ladder?”
It's nice to see someone play a game without looking things up or trying to min-max everything. Trying new things and exploring with little direction is how this game is meant to be played. That way every victory is your own and you get a lot more satisfaction from it. Good on you.
Min-man 😂
@@Thetruepianoman It was supposed to say "min-max"... Fixed.
I'm literally here because these videos are coming up in my feed because im struggling slightly as a new player. Feeling a little more inspired though.
@@aceventura2154 The game is hard, but fair. If you're only struggling a little, you're doing better than most people. The best advice; can give you that you won't hear elsewhere is to be confident, but not overconfident. Too much confidence or too much fear will both get you killed. You want to be somewhere in the middle. Good luck to you 🍀
Only thing I've had to search up so far is the Capra Demon but I think that's permissable
To be honest I went into this video with low expectations, but wow it is very refreshing to see someone actually take their time to explore the world. I was pleasantly surprised. Whenever I watch this type of video everyone just tries rushing from boss to boss and don't take the time to explore the levels. Great video, would love to see more
Literally never felt more human than watching you make all the exact same mistakes and discoveries I made recently starting a new character.
Finally. An Elden Ring player plays Dark Souls video where the Elden ring player is actually good.
This made me laugh lol 😂
Couldn't agree more
"good" yeah right lol
I think by the time elden ring came around I had souls fatigue. The original Dark Souls got me through the pandemic and it was an incredible challenge in a dark time with many many awesome experiences. I think I prefer the more linear form of progression for a souls game.
How tf it get u thru the pandemic I don't understand why everyone's life apparently was so different my life barely even changed during the pandemic big deal all you got to do is wear masks and a lot of stores close early dude it's not even a thing
@@cigareteking1882depends on your job and where you live, i worked in a shitty small warehouse and quit and started doing landscaping. never had to wear a mask, also i live like 30 minutes from the city.
@@cigareteking1882I was working 40 hours a week and partying every single night with a fuck ton of people during the pandemic. Not a single thing changed for me
@@lilmonkmonk808 exactly lol
7:05, in dark souls, they are very particular about the difference between wyverns and dragons. There is only wings and legs, missing the arms, which separates them from dragons who have arms legs and wings (minus seeth as he's malformed but he still has arms)
3:57 I can't, he did that so perfectly 😭
Pufferfish 😂😂😂
HELL YES I WANNA SEE A FULL PLAYTHROUGH OF THIS!!! I love dark souls and nothing beats going into it blindly!
I definitely want to see a full series on this, I've beaten DS1 quite a few times, and I'd love to watch you play through it all
Even if you’ve never tried parrying before, you’re going to want to learn in DS1, makes knight enemies, especially black and silver knights, way easier. It’s also easier to parry in DS1 though, it’s the only game I can reliably pull it off on.
So true, it's quite easy to become a parry God in DS1 with practice. It's how I consistently kill most enemies including Gwyn.
Worth learning. I laughed at someone who told to just parry Gwyn, but then I put in a couple hours of practice on the silver knights and realized how easy it really is that even I can do it.
I hate parrying mechanics in souls 😢
YESS! My partner and I found you recently through the Bloodborne series. Can't wait to see you play this and finish that!
This content is so amazing I would love to see this it’s so awsome to see someone experience ds1 for the first time. Please continue this I beg.
Fun fact, that first demon you saw at the beginning was actually the Stray Demon, an upgraded version of the Asylum Demon. You can fight it later when you revisit the Asylum but don't have to - it's an optional fight.
Keep the content coming brother! Highlight of my night
this is fun seeing someone new going through it for the first time because you see stuff that they did that you did when you went through it the first time.
I love watching people experience this game for the first time. Have fun! Just subbed
Amazing video!
I was super surprised you have only 16k subs.
Keep making videos you are really entertaining! 🙏
Gotta love the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack that plays at the beginning!
When i first found this dude's channel(2 days ago) I thought he had like 500k+ bro is underated and I love the videos so damn much, keep it up dawg
7:08 Gravelording in the undead burg. Some things truly never change.
So many good memories playing with friends. DS1 will always be such a special game.
Let’s get that full series baby!
Cool video! Love that you starting with DS1!
He’s not? He started with Elden ring?
@@aidenjames_6103 ok this is kinda old comment, but I obv meant for the dark souls series 😅 not all Fromsoft games….
yo man, i gotta say that your videos make my day, stumbled on the bloodborne playthrough and can't wait to see your adventures on ds1 as well, keep at it my man
See the sekiro series. It’s 😘🤌
Cool to see people playing Dark Souls in 2023! Im almost done with my Dark Souls 3 playthrough and then i definitely want to play the first one! Great video!
you're a legend spici, keep up w the good vids
Happy to see this, btw remember to two hand your weapon if you cant use your shield in a fight
If you do that full series, remember to manage your equip load and use plunge attacks on enemies below you! (And it’s best you use your sword instead of the spear)
Can’t wait for this series man, love this game
excited to see u play thru the rest after blubborn!!
Playing Elden Ring and Sekiro gave me a huge leg up on this game, now with all 3 i have had an advantage with Remnant.
The learning mindset that comes with mastering these games has made me better at all of the games that I play, Fromsoftware is a rare gem.
Can't wait to see a full series of this, also I'm surprised you didn't parry at all
Dude that was amazing. Keep going.
And so, gravity once again proves to be the single deadliest foe in Lordran.
Lovin' the Soulsborne vids, man. Glad you're enjoying(?) these games that have a special place in my (admittedly slightly masochistic) heart!
Loved the video! Going back to watch your tiger stuff now
This video perfectly summarized my current playthrough of dark souls. It is my first ever playthrough, and my only other souls game was Elden ring. I wish I gotten into the hype of the dark souls trilogy sooner
Same. Never too late to start though!
Maan, its been a while since I've watched a genuine DS1 gameplay. I loved it and it clearly shows how people need to start from the roots, then move on. ^^
Two things:
1: Don't forget to crit (backstab/ripost) and to parry.
2: You can slide down ladders, just uses a different button combo.
Keep up the great content!
I'm just gonna say it, I love the Sonic Unleashed songs you used throught the video, 10/10 content
Very excited to see you play this. I've never played it as well, I've got a copy but don't want to go in blind.... I'll just play along with these vids I guess! 😊
Going in blind is the beauty of the whole experience.
Try it blind first. If it gets too frustrating then look for a guide
You are weird. Just play the game.
We most definately want a full playtrough!
FULL SERIES BABABABABBBYYYYY
..please i subbed for it
First time watcher, much entertained. Good job!
Its always a good day when spicy uploads, but i need more bloodborne
Ps i love that you re uploading more frequently
This was my first Souls game, it will always have a special place in my heart.
I'm currently playing it on the PS3 and looking at this makes me envious of that beautiful 60 fps, almost makes me just get on PC and start over.
Gonna binge this tonight
Watching someone playing this for the first time and being all like "Hey it's the meme guy!" is strangely wholesome. Also nice job on beating that Black Knight second try. You even did it the hard way too.
Nice Mazinger Z doll on the shelf.
your first video i've ever seen... you deserve my follow
I like watching your videos, there are fun.
I cannot wait to see you continue your journey in Bloodborne 😊
Such fun!! So much nostalgia
That was an amazing take on the game. I have thousands of hours in DS and 36 characters in dark souls on ps3 and dark souls remaster on ps4. I have never seen the guy get stuck up on the scaffolding and found it hilarious. I still feel for him as I have been trapped like that numerous times in the game. Bloodborne is the best of all and I have hours doing all 25 dungeon variations on 6 toons plus I did many other dungeons for the many runes and weapon variations. I have twenty characters across my many profiles. I hope you are enjoying the game ! Peace
this man didn't plunge attack both the asylum demon and the taurus demon
I love every day Spicy uploads a video❤
dude i LOVE the souls games, im super excited to see how you get about playing the souls trilogy
Hold down what ever your sprint/Dodge button on ladders to slide. Just have to not press down on directional input.
I started a new ds1 play through yesterday so hyped to see you do your first run. Gl.
Same experience for me, Good luck !
Nice. I recently did something similar and tried out the souls series basically blind. But hadnt played any of the other games ether. Some small nuggets of advice that stopped me from uninstalling:
Fastrolling in this game is a lot more important. There really is a tradeoff on going over 25% carryweight. And dont be afraid to look stuff up if you're stuck.
fast roll is good but not essential. Poise is way more useful. That's why I'd recommend new players grab the wolf ring asap. It makes a world of difference.
Hearing someone say "Ooh, there's backstabbing" about DS1 is kinda funny.
Nice vid :)
Go upper blighttown with curse, no purging stones, no teleport. That was fun, i remember
I need a full series
I'm already loving the series
I’m definitely down to follow your first play through of DS1. But I’m with the rest of your fans, we want to see you best Bloodborne!
Subscribing only cause I absolutely love your editing 😆
full series rn also nice edits :D
cant wait for more episodes
Full series please! Also you can slide down ladders. Don't try to move using the joystick and just hold down the B button if on Xbox or the O button if on Playstation. Happy Soulsing!
Absolutely no idea how I found you but loved the video keep it up
oh wow either the gravelord was aiming for you or you got very (un)lucky with the time you played at. its fairly rare to encounter gravelording especily in low level areas since you need to get trought a pretty hard area to even be able to join. lucky for you the negative effects of getting gravelorded only appear in NG+ (extra enemies and some get replaced with a stronger version)
Do the disasters for sure not affect the first playthrough? I was boutta say damn he got screwed loool
@@rk13567 yeah he got lucky there kek. else we would have seen some red phantom hollows in undead burg already
As you said correctly, that was a drake, but did fool me until I talked to the merchant..
Spicy. Got a new fan for life here bro
Love this, please play the dlcs for all of these games as well. :)
Watching you play reminds me of my first time playing ds1
"I don't like the sound of Blight Town" - I am very much looking forward to your Blight Town episode :D
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING LMAO
IM SURPRISED NOONE ELSE BUT YOU AND ME COMMENTED ABOUT THAT HAHAHA
HE EVEN DESCRIBED IT PERFECTLY TOO AND HE HASNT EVEN BEEN THERE YET 🤣
Funny that you make a 0 death pewdiepie reference. His Dark Souls playthrough is actually what got me into Fromsoftware games 😂
Great start, just a hint, enemies who have a tail most of them can be cut off for different weapons.
That loot goblin part got me 😂😂
I fell for that Gravelord Servant invading sign my first time playing Remastered lol
I like how the stray demons and the Erdtree guardians have the same moveset. And they both chonky
Gotta tell ya, i like your videos more than i thought
Great vid...i small suggestion for black nights, parry them or circle/dodge their attacks to backstab them
First time seeing a vid of yours and really enjoyed this, I just got into Dark Souls like a month or so ago and after years of trying and giving up I finally hit around 60 hrs on this run and loving it. Happy it clicked for me because this game is a gift. Consider me subscribed! 😊
Much appreciated! I only recently got into souls a little over a year ago with the launch of Elden Ring
@@itsSpicyGaming Elden Ring is on my wish list! Actually more excited to try that than any of the other from software games! Any tips or tricks to prepare? (Also beat Souls 1 last night for the first time)!
Not bad for your first playthrough. You're one of the only players I've ever seen actually go the right way after reaching Firelink
Trying to jump onto that ledge was way too relatable...
Dude I feel like we're in the same boat. I just picked up bloodborne and dark souls after loving elden ring my first fromsoft game . Played sekiro some since playing elden ring and haven't beaten it . Almost done with bloodborne tho
Your a chill dude, and thats all it takes for me to subscribe
the aeugh got me gud. Now I can't unhear it
Ive done the same. Played elden ring, bloodborne, dark souls now just started dark souls 2. They have been some of the best experiences ive ever had with video games, minus the anger and stress these also bring but enjoyable
probably the funniest first ds1 playthru ive ever seen
We need this
That my good friend is one of Lordran's many Black Knights. They turn crucible Knights to paste and poise break them into oblivion
Incredible Choice
He’ll Get into It
Especially Since He’ll Eventually Beat of Souls in a Year
Loving in The Future Has It’s Perks
Great Effort
The moment I saw him look at the grave lord servant summon icon I was certain the he was going to get nuked by whoever put the sign down. Also seeing a playthrough where the guy is going in completely blind feels weird nowadays! Normally I'd expect seeing people get the master key, get the Astora's Straight sword, buy fire bombs and a bow from the merchant, use said firebombs and a plunging attack to kill the Taurus Demon, use the bow to get the Drake's sword, use the master key to unlock the door to Havel, kill Havel, kill the merchant to get the Uchigatana, go down to the lower undead burg, release Griggs, kill the Capra Demon, release the pyromancy seller at the entry to depths and get the Large Ember ,kill the Gargoyles, kill the moonlight butterfly, buy the crest of Artorias, level up int to be able to use Fall Control, go back to the undead asylum, kill the Stray Demon with the Uchigatana, get all the items on undead asylum, use the Valley of Drake's shortcut to skip most of Blightown, kill Maneater Mildred, use Maneater Mildreds summon to easily off Queelag, Ring the second bell, use the bonfire next to the daughter of chaos covenant, cheese Ceaseless Discharge, make your way back to Firelink, kick Lautrec down a cliff, rush the catacombs without resting in a Bonfire, kill pinwheel, use a homeward bone to go back to Firelink, level a curved sword to at least +6, go to Sen's fortress, get the covetous silver serpent ring, release Big Hat Logan, get the lightning spear, summon Iron Tarkus to fight Iron Golem, go to Anor Londo, rest at the Darkmoon Tomb Bonfire, get the Havel set, get the silver knight set, level the curved sword to +10 and use it to make Queelag's Fury Sword, equip the silver knight set and Queelag's Fury Sword, summon Solaire to fight O&S, then do Painted World and proceed to the second half of the game
