    Hey buddy I appreciate you making this video. I picked up an X3 and needed some more bass and this is the only video that helped me out fully. I got the same amp. Makes things lots easier. It pushes 300w rms with a dvc sub wired for 2 ohms. I wired up my amp tonight; my sub will arrive tomorrow. Super appreciative of you commenting later the wires you tapped and that they were the thick ones.
    Thank you!!

    It’s been over 2 years and the amp has never shut off. As the subwoofer got broken in it played better. The Subwoofer does get smelly if you try to turn up the bass too much because of distortion and lack of power, but it plays reasonably loud with the bass set to a intermediate level in the head unit without issues.

    You should tap into the subs under the seat as they play bass and the mid range with give you almost no bass because it just does not play low. Best to first put your ear to the speaker to hear if it's bass playing or not if you don't have a RTA. That's why you don't have lows because mid-range was tapped into.

    • @FliCarGuy
      @FliCarGuy  3 роки тому

      The amp was tapped into the subwoofer wires, the Kicker sub is playing fine with all of the lows.

      @@0togtr811 Yah, I just meant the way the box is tuned, some of the real lower notes don't play that well compared to cars I've had with big 15's in there and much bigger boxes and more power.

    Ive used to kicker inline convertor and it burned from the left channel now that i bought an Lc2i audiocontrol there was smoke from the left channel again… any ideas why it keeps happening?

    • @FliCarGuy
      @FliCarGuy  19 днів тому +1

      My first thought would be that’s not the correct wire. If you see smoke it’s likely that something has a dead short, meaning one of this wires has voltage that’s getting grounded out somewhere. Troubleshooting something like this would really require and understanding of dc current, voltage and resistance and how to use a multimeter to measure different things. More than likely though you have an incorrect wire and/or it’s being grounded out to metal or ground somewhere.

    I just added bass in my x3..My question is how to safely add a 2nd battery to help with the power the bass amp takes..I'm old scholl and want to know the correct way to add my 2nd car audio battery safely.
    Would love your insight..I have a Deaf Bonce 2900.10 running 2 american bass dvc 12's in a qbomb box...Got signal where you said with a high/low adapter.

    • @FliCarGuy

      These cars have so many electronics in it that I’d be weary of adding a battery that the factory alternator would have to charge. That’s part of the reason I chose such a small amplifier, because I didn’t want any voltage problems in there and didn’t want to add too much load to the system.
      That being said, IF I decided to go for it and just decided to see what would happen, I’d probably use a battery isolater and connect the big amp directly to the second battery. Then I’d use a trickle charger at night to charge it up so that the factory alternator wouldn’t have to do all of the work.
      Typically in this setting you can wire batteries together in parallel, Positive to positive and Negative to negative. When you do that the alternator is charging both batteries at once and both batteries are powering everything in the car. The BMW may be sensitive to this though, so that’s why if I was going to attempt it I’d isolate them from each other. I would check a couple BMW forums to see if anyone has done it and if they ran into any issues. Bimmerpost is a good one.

    Can you list the supplies (and name brand) you used in your video… amp, subwoofer (size), cable types (length), etc. I am a 50+ women and I want to do this to my daughters X3 for Christmas. Thanks so much!

    • @FliCarGuy
      @FliCarGuy  2 роки тому +3

      The Amplifier is an Audiocontrol ACM- 1.300 The subwoofer is a Kicker 12” CompR loaded enclosure. You don’t have to use that specifically, it’s actually a little too big for the amp although it works well. You could use any quality subwoofer enclosure that’s rated between 300-400 watts RMS at 2ohms (a bit technical but it will be in the description for most things sold online or you can ask for it if you go to a local retailer). I’m sorry I didn’t really take not of the length of wire etc as I just had some extra laying around from past projects. If you buy an amplifier wiring kit with 8 gauge power wire a fuse, and some speaker wire, it will have more than enough to do the job.
