learn how to install a loc or line output converter.
This is a car audio how to tutorial that will explain what a line output converter is and what a loc does. a loc is a device that converts your high level input from the factory audio system and provides a low level output so we can run rca's to our aftermarket amplifiers. in this video I use a 1 channel line output converter and tap into the factory sub wires to get signal for our sub amp.

Simple and to the point! That's how you make a video. No reason for this to be 20 mins long.
You literally just saved me over $1000 with just one video I’ve been searching all over the place for this video and finally found it
Love the way you tapped into the speaker outputs. Most people just cut and strip and I don't like cutting stock wires. The way you just stripped it and tapped into it was great. Good Job!
This man droppin knowledge, salute 💪💪💪
Appreciate the upload brother. Going to install my sub in my bronco tomorrow thanks to this vid
Bro i almost cried putting my sub in my car. My other car had an aftermarket head unit and was a 2002 so i didnt need a LOC, now my cars a 2012 civic si with the factory sub, tried tapping into it once, the amp wouldnt even turn on, i was over it. Couple hours later I rewatched this, made sure i crimped everything tightly and properly, spent 30 minites and now everything works😭😂
Dude, thank you thank you. Your 3min just cleared up days of questions for me. Using a LOC to tap into a powered sub from a home theater setup. Relaying the low level signal to a mini amp that powers two buttkickers. Your video made sure I didn’t blow anything down the line so really appreciate it 🙌🏻
That's awesome glad I could help
V
3 minutes when other videos are 20 minutes plus. Simple and plain instructions. Thank you
Same as everyone else. Thank you for being clear
Probably the most informational LOC video explanation I’ve seen. Thank you!
JP, buddy you are sooo top notch man. I'm a trained sound/studio engineer and been a backyard mechanic since 14 and tinkering with car audio off and on, since when subs first came out, 57 years old now. Things have changed since the days of radio and cassette players with 2 knobs lol. I stay current though doing installs today. When I need to double check something/reference something new, you are there! So just want to thank you Brother for your vids, the best!
Lol have you lived through 8-track players to today's gear too? Nutz!
We in this together bro. Glad I can be if service
I have a question
Duuuudddeee I think you just helped me solve a question I've been working on for the last year and a half!
So straight up and correct. Best video bro
Had to sub. Man that was fast clear and to the point. Salute homie
Luv your channel JP,,,Subscribed 😎👍
This literally answered all my question in a short concise video. Thank you brotha
BOOM...LOL Glad it helped!
HEY I HAVE A QUESTION, SO I GOT EVERYTHING HOOKED UP, IT WORKS BUT THERES ACTUAL AUDIO, I THOUGHT SUBS WERE JUST FOR BASS? THERES MUSIC NOISE COMING FROM IT BARLEY ANY BASS
@@sleepingmoon6649 switch your settings on your amp if it has low pass / high pass settings switch, switch it to LP (LP) provides more bass (HP) more vocals
@@jptheinstallguy could you help me understand for my 2019 Nissan Maxima?
Thanks man your video was super helpful and to the point 10/10
Thank you for explaining if the car already has sub lines. you're the best. twisting them together! car has sub lines and ACC line, and battery in the trunk... my install couldn't be much easier.
Great vid nice to have someone who can actually explain things!
That’s very informative in 2 minutes, THANQ
Short sweet and to the point bruh. Thank you!
💯💯
Extremely helpful!
Thais is what I needed! 🤛🤝
Straight to the point! Love it
🙌🏽🙌🏽💯💯
You on deez?
Watched many videos this is the first that I truly understand
I want to say...
It is vastly comforting to notice someone call car speaker mid-range woofers. While generally and usually true, some speaker set ups include tweaters.
I get annoyed when i am conversating someone over audio stuff, and i point at the speaker in the driver door, aa an example, and remark something about that woofer, only to be cut off by a response like, "thats jot my subwoofer, thats my speaker" like i am the ignorant one.
Its happened more than i wish.
So, yes, thank you for referring to them correctly!
Well done. Easy to follow. Thank you.
Anytime💯
What perfect example video Fr ✊🏽💯
Thank you bro, provided info prior to my installation!
Wowwwwww literally the best explained straight up video I found. Holy fuck. I spend hours trying to find something like this

Glad this was able to help you out🤜🏾🤛🏾💯💯
great video.
🙌🏽🙌🏽💯
Beautiful
Thank u damn u saved me a lot of time
One question tho is I got everything hooked up but my car is not holding voltage how do I keep it from going low on me
Hooking up the loc does it do anything to the impedance the head unit sees ? I mean if you have a stock 4 ohm speaker and your radio is seeing a 4 ohm load, when you add the loc is the radio still seeing a four ohm load with the loc wired to that channel also ?
If you have dual sub, the two whites go to the positive on first coil and grey's go to the negative on the second?
Can you connect a single speaker signal to both L/R high-level inputs on the converter or a powered sub with high-level inputs?
so quick question. I have a 19 camry without a factory sub. I have front and rear positive and negative for both sides. do i connect the converter to the front or rear speakers on the factory harness?
Short and concise , great. Thank you for your help. Question I want to run a amplifier to power by 6x9s. I'm going to assume it's the same setup with the loc you have connected here ( taking the signal from the full range speaker ) . Or should I take from somewhere else... Any help is appreciated
Full range speaker. Do not take from subwoofer roe your signal will be wrong.
Coz I'm using the door speakers do I have to make sure I use a driver side one and a passenger side speaker cheers
Hey man love ur videos.. u give good details and easy understanding. My ? For u though is I have a Chrysler 200s 2015 and am want to put a chinese aftermarket stereo into it but cant find any info on what type of harness or module should i get to keep all my features? I know they got they the maestro ads-mrr interface but my headunit isnt compatible and all the ones that are is so expensive. Please help me out thank u
Can I get the signal from one speaker or do I have to use both? Meaning if I’d pair the 2 + from the loc and the 2 - from the loc to the negative and a positive on one speaker it would be okay for a svc set up?
Is it better to connect to rear speakers or factory sub. Have a 2018 civic coupe with factory sub so seeing what would be the best to connect
So with the 2-Ohm dual Subwoofer I wire the negative and positive together for the left and do the same for the right?
I hope i get a response 🙏. If i have a single voice coil sub and have coupled both L+R positive and L+R negative together then do I connect it to my front left speaker of my stock radio harness or my right speaker? Does it matter? Or is it still safe to split the connections to the left front speaker and right front speaker? I have a 2009 4runner.
Will having a factory amp effect this at all? I’ve got a 2013 expedition limited with factory sub and the amp is right next to it
Great tutorial 👌 all other loc videos on UA-cam should be deleted and this video put in their place. Thank you.
I was wondering, could tap into the speaker line or factory sub line at the solder points of the speaker or do I have to wire it before it reaches the speaker? Is there a difference?
Also, since I don't have a factory sub but have to tap into the 6x9's in the rear, does that mean I still have to wire to two channels toghter? I am running a mono amp to my subs at 2ohms.
One more question. And I notice when I try to take a reading from my lineout converter, I see fluctuation and not a steady reading, what could that mean? And my RCA's check out fine after check continuity.
Thanks
Solid
Thanks!
thanks a lot for your support
Quick question so if I'm running a 4 channel amplifier and a subwoofer amplifier get a male to female connector and two male two female connector for the 4 channel for the left side and one male to female connector for the right side for the subwoofer amplifier?
I have a factory sub that's dvc with 2 sets of positive and negative wires does it matter which ones I hook up to left and right??
Hey man thanks for this video! So I have a 21 Lexus IS350 with a factory amp and head unit. I already upgraded all the speakers and upgraded the subwoofer which is placed in the factory location. The subwoofer is underpowered just a little bit. When I wire up the LOC I was going to twist the two positives and two negatives together and use a butt connector to attach to corresponding + and - on the pre-amp subwoofer wires then run remote to the amp and power to the amp from battery and ground to chassis. Do I then need to only connect the RCAs from the LOC to the amp to make the subwoofer be powered from the mono amp I am installing? Or do I need to also run speaker wire from the amp to something? And if so to where? All speakers are already upgraded and work fine with the factory amp, it's just the aftermarket subwoofer that doesnt get enough power from the factory amp. Thanks!
Would this work with a sub amp combo like a kicker hideaway to a head unit?
In addition to running speaker wires from the LOC to the car speaker wires, I just realized I ran an additional set on both car speakers and ran them into the speaker terminals on the sub amplifier obviously where the sub speaker wires go into. The sub works and sounds great I just don’t know if there’s any issues to having another set of wires on each side of the car speakers running into the speaker terminals on the sub amplifier
I just got a 2011 avalon stock sub sounds blown out can I use the same method you did but disconnect the stock sub
Thanks bro
anytime
Is that a good choice to ground all accord 2008-2012 or does it change with every car different ground ?
But will this work for a mini Cooper r60 I need help with the line converter install I got the power ran and ground ran just struggling with the Harmon kardon wire splice.
If my car has two factory subs then can I tap one of them or do i have to tap both of them?
Yes sir that you so much
Great video! I have a 2018 Silverado crew cab, what speakers should I tap off of? I bought an lc6i and I’ve heard that the front speakers get a full range signal vs the rears. What do you recommend?
Did you figure it out i got the same truck tryna see how tf to do it😂
What’s the positive and negative on a 2017 acura tlx stock subwoofer?!
Hell yea!
So if I do this do I still have to splice the radio for installing subs?
Do I tap into the right and left side of the speakers? im hook into the front left speaker at the moment
Could I install loc to the head unit? Using the left and right rear speaker wires on the harness? Will splicing into it work?
only if you dont have a factory amp. if you have a oem amp then the radio only is sending signal to the amp and that wont work. if you have a base model where the radio is powering speakers then yes go for it.
I have the Metra converter do I need to use the yellow power wire and black ground wire for the converter to work
When you tapped into the speakers did you tap into left side only or both
do you hav a wire diagram for a 2012 chevy equinox with premium pioneer system? I plan to tie into my factory sub with the line out converter
Is the remote wire supposed to be wired from the LOC to the aftermarket amp directly?
Please some reply fast I need help I have a 1500 watt amp in 2 subs in 4 rear door speakers in 3 dashboard speakers in 2 corner speakers what do I need to connect everything in out it together I have a factory radio will this little piece right here power all my speakers or do I need something else I have a chysler 2010 touring
If I installed the LOC thru my factory sub, where should I put my sub volume level from my factory radio? Normally I put I set my volume level half way only.. any suggestion.
Hi. I have question. Can I install this kind adapter for active subwoofer alpine SWE-815?
Hey there great video
can you use this set up on a powered sub (hide away sub)
ive been told i just need to hook up to the speaker only.
He just explained it all. connect to a speaker thats not a tweeter an youll b fine
May be a dumb question but do you only have to run a LOC from either the drivers side or passenger side? You don't have to do both sides right?
Hey I always watch your video..can you please help me with my 2016 audi s3..I want to know how to connect the wires from the sub to the lc2i
DID YOU CONNECT THE 2 POSITIVE AND 2 NEGATIVE FROM THE LOC TO 1 SPEAKER WIRE ?
Yo bro can I hook my sub up to a factory speaker wire or do I need to go behind the deck and hook it to the sub connection in the deck. Pls let me know. I don’t have an existing sub
Might be a dumb question but I have a 2013 dodge Durango so I would be running all the wires to the door speakers… so my question could I hook this up in the back of the radio?
Hey bro I was wondering if you could tell me I'm newer to anything more than a set of subs on stock everything and a basic 2 channel LOC But I just ordered the LC7I to get both of my amps playing since the sub is drowning the mids and highs out but my car is a 19 Camry and a major major headache to swap out the head unit or get through the door grommet to upgrade the front door and dash speaker wire for upgrades so I'm wondering if I can take a single rear speaker channel and branch it off to all 6 channels for the LOC and if not how would be the easiest way to hook it up and it says something about channel summing do you know how to configure that to work properly
your video has seemed to make more sense than anyone else lol. quick question if you don’t mind though…. with using this system; does that mean that there is no need to run a radio wire from the amp to the back of the radio/head unit? the only other car i’ve wired was a 90’s model so a bit older
Do you need to touch the head unit to set it up?
