wow. just incredible. Unfortunalty this type of work is probably outside of my price range but i know experts and some of the best in their specific field when i see it. These guys most be producing some of the best sounding cars you can probably find. i was looking at doing a whole focal setup awhile back that would have been absolutely incredible. but now years later im just going to do things myself for value and convenience be getting the bavsound setup. but if your an audiophile and have the budget this is the way to go.
These guys are really helpful and know what they are talking about, I went there for the audio in my MSRT transit and although I opted to fit it myself they bent over backwards to help and assist. Very knowledgeable and professional!
Superb video guys. Love the detail that goes into each car. Great professionalism 👍
Excellent video, very informative! I hadn't realised how many hours go into a quality install like this
Great job. Im a tech and your work is perfect. Probably 2 men a big days work.
Also I think how to videos especially for UK based customers is good. A lot of the content comes out of the US.
Really enjoyed watching your videos. Especially the Land Rovers, look forward to a video like this on a Defender hopefully soon!
Very informative & interesting video from you guys, Love the attention to detail & professionalism you show in your content.
Keep up the good work. 👍
For the budget conscious, the under-seat factory subs are not too bad and play surprisingly low as long as they are driven by a decent amp such as one of the Class D JL Audio amps mentioned. Front door speakers, amp and DSP for time correction are the essential components.
I agree with your statement. I have had decent success using the factory underseats as well, using the little clarion XC marine micro amps.
Which subs do you refer to ?
16cm, 20cm Hi-Fi or HK ?
@@vollcare4076 I was referring to the factory 8" (20cm) Hi-Fi option in the F20 Series
@@rjk5559 i agree, with the 20cm HiFi USB (not the 16cm Stereo) you can generate good level of kick bass once you put an amp with ca 50W RMS to each channel…but I’d recommend put a subsonic at 40Hz and highpass filter at 130-150hz ca.
Front speaker with Highpass at 150-200hz.
What time alignment setting do you recommend for front speaker and the USBs ?
@@vollcare4076In my F22 I'm setting 1.46ms of delay for the driver side front speaker (in stock location) and 2ms for driver side USB (wired in phase) but it will ultimately depend upon your cabin size and seating position. I've set my x-over point around 120hz with a 25hz subsonic filter.
Showroom has come a long way from the Infinity door pods + Earthquake Bandpass setup!
Fab insight into why and how, thanks guys.
very nice workmanship. lots of attention to detail.
Hi. I have an M850i with Bowers & Wilkins. How does the Focal midrange and tweeters compare to the B&W midrange and Diamond-tweeters? In my case would it be considered an upgrade to Focals or would I just need to upgrade the amp?
Too bad you're not in the states, very clean and professional!!!
So professional way of work would definitely take your services if needed in future.
What is the best hi fi upgrade for bmw f 20 pre-LCI!? Thanks
I put in the bimmertech amp on my 2023 bmw 330i xdrive with idrive 7 and hifi audio. It was a direct plug and play and made things much better but there still is no base so I added 2 arc audio 10in black series subs into the trunk and then just keep the pass through open.. and things are pretty decent. I kept the below the seat “subs” because they don’t work as “bass” really in the car but work more as midrange. In my old 2010 bmw 335xi with base audio…I did the setup basically in this video but had the earthquake below the seats, those exact focals in the front, and morels in the back.. no matter what I did there was so much bass and no mids.. the focals were so “bright” they actually hurt my ears. Everyone is different.. but I just hated the focals.. the morels were much better..
I couldn’t edit.. but I meant I drive 8.. not 7
We use both Morel and Focal, the Focals defiantly don't hurt your ears, you should have tons of midbass from the under seat woofers, I am afraid it sounds as if something is very wrong with your set up.
Really informative video! I would like to see how you tune the audio :)
I’ve had many vehicles fitted out by these guys over the years 1 very recently they are at the very top of there game and alway 1st class service
I see you are using Audison subwoofers and Focal speakers. How come you're not using Focal subwoofer as well? Also what is your opinion on Bavsound subwoofers and B&W subwoofers in newer BMWs?
Excellent work fellas!👍🏽💯
Really good video - out of curiosity, why do you use passive crossovers as well as the DSP. Doesn't the DSP remove the need for passive crossovers? Also - you don't mention speaker cable - presumably you do upgrade it throughout?
Running passive crossovers in conjunction with the DSP eliminates the need for separate power amplification for each and every driver such as tweeters, and mids.
Does the ISUB BMW 2 fit the door of the Jaguar F-Type? It also uses a 200mm flat driver like the ISUB BMW 2.
Hi, love your videos wish they were longer! I've just changed my speakers in my f10 BMW 520d the brand is eton but the front speakers distort when pushed?
Thats an absolute QUALITY job. Cost thousands im sure. But very professional, very tasty job. 👌
I know that you have to tap the front speaker cables in order to send a full signal to the dsp, but where is the best place to tap it? Is it best to grab it from behind the head unit, or from the plugs that you disconnect from the woofers under the seat? I know that they are in parallel with the mids in the door. Thanks
Haha thanks. What do you think to the Audison Prima AP 8.9 Bit as a consideration for space saving purposes?
How do you upgrade the head unit??
All being well, I’ll get the Focals for the E90 from you. Will need to do the install when it isn’t as cold and wet. In the meantime just wanted to know if you use an oscilloscope to set the gains? Cheers.
Is there an interface for connecting to the bit 10d or is it not necessary?
Are the 10inch focal subs not better?
Do you run complete new wiring from the factory head unit to the bit ten or re route the original speaker lines?
We actually pick up the signal from a different location meaning its not necessary to remove the head unit at all.
@@AudiofileIncar thanks I’ll drop you guys an email later
Wow! This is impressive work a lot of pride and workmanship. I’m just a little confused about the use of the three channel amp rather than a four channel. Are you wired the underseats as mono to achieve that?
Thanks Shakeel, we use 4 Ohm subs in parallel to give a 2 Ohm load, this is the ideal load for the amps which then produce 300W RMS. The subs are running low frequencies only so no need to run in stereo.
Ah ok. I was under the impression that they were midbass so hence would perform best between 80-200hz and having to supplement with a subwoofer to carry the 80hz and below frequencies.
@@shakeelfaris7623 Hi Shakeel, If we run a " Party Sub" or similar boot mounted sub, then the under seat subs are band passed to protect them from the really low bass frequencies, normally actually around 50Hz as they play really well down to that point. However, they must not run up to 200Hz, this is way to high and the sound becomes very directional, vocals will appear very muddled and will be coming from under the seat. This is why you cant use a 3" speaker in the door, they only run down to around 300Hz and the under seat subs have to therefore run up to 300Hz, they then sound awful! Hope this helps.
Thanks for the response. So in a 3 series for example, you would run the mid range at 150 upwards and then the tweeters that are on a crossover network would take care of the highs? The midrange would be bandpassed between 50 to 150hz and the sub woofer would take care of the 50hz and below frequencies? Hope I’ve understood that ok? 🙈
Shakeel Faris spot on👍 you are now part of the team.
Any suggestions for a wiring harness that will work with a amp that uses fiber optics on a 2008 bmw 335i, it has a logic 7 surround.
I would really like to do this how much in us dollars does it cost. great video as well. you guys are definitely professional. response from you would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Ah that’s good to know thanks. I’m guessing that those signals will also turn on the Bit Ten D, thus eliminating the need to tap into the 12v ignition wire?
I'm presuming the Focal's are better sounding than Audison K4E's. Will the Focal ES100K's work for an M4 (HK-"688") - Doors and Rear side panels? Will they fit (depth) an M4 only using an (3 hole) adapter ring?
If I replace the standard HIFI in my G30 with the B&W from another G30, (amp and speakers) will it work with out coding? Can I use BimmerCode to enable the profiles? Or do I need to goto a dealer to get the B&W amp to work at all?
Hi, our speciality is upgrading the audio, not fitting B&W. there are people that concentrate more in this area of reto fit but its definatly not our thing. Hope this helps
So for the example you have given, you have a 3 channel amp, channel 1 and 2 takes care of the mids and highs and channel 3 takes care of the 2 midbass under the seats wired in parallel. Let’s suppose you added the party sub to the equation, I’m guessing you’d need a 5 channel amp with the 5th channel taking care of the party sub and 3 and 4 taking care of the midbass under the seats. Or rather keeping the 3 channel but introducing a monoblock? But in this scenario you would need to wire the underseats as normal to 3 and 4 and not in parallel because channels 3 and 4 won’t see a 2 ohm load thus losing the benefit of wiring in parallel in this application? Thanks
Absolutely amazing. Defo will be using your company when I get my next car. Amazing job.
Is the Focal ES 100K still the ONE?
The ES 100k is a great set and amazing value, the Morel set is way better but 3 times the cost 😎
@@AudiofileIncar thanks for the reply. What Morel speaker are u referring to? The es 100k's are also quite expensive.
Would have looked much better if the client purchased genuine tweeter covers. Can you do a full speaker upgrade with amp for a bmw f40?
The systems we have are compatible with all models, check out the web site www.bmwaudioupgrade.co.uk or pop in for a demo.
Slightly off topic but are you guys able to code the base headunit for USB functionality and code it to hifi to remove the stock EQ curve? Thanks
Does adding the sound deadening material add a lot of weight to the car? i usually see people adding some around the speaker housing by not the entire door. I'm sure it makes it sound incredible, just wondering what the impact of the added weight has on performance.
.7 lbs / 1 sqft. Sorry for the American measurements. But this should help you get an idea of weight once you convert. I do this to all my vehicles when I upgrade my speakers. You can feel the weight in the doors when you handle it.
Wow Switzerland!! How much is this set up
Hi it would be great to know what you have the audison underseat woofers set at, lp filter or band pass.
Thanks for the video. Which one would you recomend for medium door speakers for BMW X3 F25? Thanks very much
All of the systems are compatible with the F25, obviously we would always recommend the "System 3 Plus" all the details are on the web site www.bmwaudioupgrade.co.uk Why not pop in for a demo?
Hi what would something like this upgrade cost??
In order to get a full range signal to send to the DSP, do I need to tap the fronts only or the front and rears? 2011 E90 with non-I drive base HU. Thanks
Shakeel Faris you only need to pick the front speaker outputs, this will give a full range signal.
@@AudiofileIncar . When installing the BIT DMI, there is then no need to tap into the speaker cables to send a signal back to the BIT TEN D correct? Would you then just run new speaker cable from the speaker locations to the amp, or can you still tap into the existing wiring using a breakout harness? Thanks
How much is the setup for the x5

Hi how do the focal comps compare against the primas sq wise, looking to upgrade my e81 speakers
Hi, we prefer the Focal`s, even they are quite a bit more work to install.
Very nice install
Also. In order to get a 2 ohm load. Do I need to bridge channels at the amp besides doing the parallel wiring at the speaker(s) thanks
If you are using a JL XD500/3 amp then the sub o/p is mono anyway so will see a 2 Ohm load with 2 x 4 Ohm subs, be very careful not to bridge into a 2 Ohm load as the amp will see 1 Ohm per channel, this can be a problem, most amps will not like this.
Hello i wanted to see if you could help me. I have a 08 bmw 328i with hifi sound system and im looking to upgrade all my speakers including the 8" underneath seat subwoofer. Tell you tell me what seakers on the doors would be best, and what underneath subwoofer has the most bass and what amplifier you would recommend?
Junior Luna hi Junior, the answers to all of your questions are in the video, watch it again with the sound on.
I have an e63 bmw and need a better amplifier as the old one keeps clipping. Is this something you can do?
Tweeter looks awful! It would have been better to have invested in the proper pillar front door covers.
You look and sound like Paul Kaye.
Thankyou 😂
That focal is super expensive
The secret is is to use the USB cable for your phone
..class D amplifier?? 😁
This is an amplifier which is way more efficent than a Class A/B traditional amp, Class D (digital) amps are also generally smaller as they do not produce as much heat.
@@AudiofileIncar ...but the quality in audio (for audiofiles of course..) is left somewhere... behind.
Anyway, there is good stuff for bmw environment. BMW 7UP; class D, limitless settings.. and very small for what it produce..
@@MrFryfish remember that you are looking at a £3k audio system, not a £10k high end system which would be using class A amplification. We do have plenty of options for Audiophile clients that want bespoke installations.
Can allready tell to much money
Apha one
Screw these overpriced whack speakers! Get some German MB Quart bmw speakers, super high quality, amazing sound for way way cheaper! Get all the premium BMW MB Quart speaker set for less than $1K and all plug and play!
LaloMan they are ok if you want a basic upgrade but we have removed them on more than one occasion for people that have put them in then decided they want a real hifi. I suggest you listen to them back to back then let us know the results.
