Hi there... You have been a great help always. I have a question for you. How can i treat mild knee effusion? I got this after running and its been for 6 months now.
My knees and legs don’t work for me, if I fall r just get down on ground. Without something to grab on and pull myself up, I cannot stand without someone helping. I could not do the second exercise. If I can do the rest will they reverse my condition?
Thank you Dr. Jo. I tired these exercises and within a few days I was relieved of my knee pain. It was easy to do and so effectively. Now I can continue my usual work outs. Thank you
I'm recovering from a broken neck which occurred around 3 years ago in a car, your videos of helped me immensely and now I am back on my feet and almost walking again completely unaided, thank you so much🤗🤗🤗
Did the exercises work? I had a dislocation on my right 6 months ago and I’m still wary of doing too many things because I’m scared it’ll dislocate or that the other one will due to me having “flexible kneecaps” 😀
I’m 13, but my knees aren’t strong enough to support my weight when I run and jump, and I’ve had multiple cases of hypertension on both knees and I was told I need to strengthen my knees.( I’m not over weight, I’m 56kg and 5’7 or 170cm-ish)
I did the entire routine and wow my knees feel amazing. It's as if stretching everything out makes me legs feel lighter and less tense. Dr Jo having my back since 2020
Lifesaver! Been struggling with left knee pain for weeks after work outs After one video i had no pain when running finally! Going to continue using this video! Thanks!
Just recovering from an injured knee. Therapist gave me some exercises to help. Now I will add your exercises to my routine. Thank you for the information!
Wow!. I started doing these exercises last Wednesday 8 days ago. My knee kept giving away and it felt like it was bare bone with no muscle. About two days ago the problem started easing. I was walking so as not to let my knee go again and thinking of those people who have to have metal knee replacements. Yesterday I could feel it really getting better but was still a bit tentative. Today there is no pain at all and I have full use of the knee. It has been fully tested by putting a fence up using sledge hammers and things. I was praying about it but God expect us to do our bit which I did with Dr Jo's guidance. Thank you Thankyou Thankyou. It is great to have no restrictions again. I will still do the exercises as they really worked and I want to keep it that way.
I have had knee pain for 9 months! I slipped and fell on ice and I had physical therapy for a few weeks, it was too expensive to continue. I tried anti-inflammatory diet and pretty much gave up on relief from pain. I've been doing these exercises everyday for almost 3 weeks and for the first time, I see the light at the end of the tunnel! I have also been doing the knee pain relief stretches on your channel. I have felt significant relief and am so grateful. Thank you!
I am very greatfull for this video i háve strengthend my knees i was having a issue with my knees always dislocating and i feel like they are stronger.
Ugh yes I'm still healing my dislocated knee injury but my knee dislocated and popped itself back in place and the same thing happen to my right knee years before
Could you make a video all about crackling knees please? Including all possible causes & any dietary supplementation or other meds / interventions available along with your recommended exercises? (No pain has ever accompanied my years worth of grinding & cracking. Yet I do want to prevent that!) Thank you so much for your help :)
Address your kinetic chain. I would start with your hip and ankle Mobility then assess the strength of your glutes...and address wherever there is issue..
I had similar issue. An orthopedist had come to our office and I asked her this question. She told it’s because of long of sitting at the office. She advised me to take a short walk every hour and also rocking your legs while sitting helps. I tried and it worked for me.
I have runners knee so i was looking for some knee strengthening excerises. On day 3 and already feeling the benefits of these excersises, the joint feels a lot better already. Will definately keep going with these daily. Thank you!
Thank you for these! I have been doing knee exercises for the past week & it definitely has helped!! Using the band is great. Anything to avoid surgery!!
Thank you for sharing this video Dr. Joe. I decided I wanted to take better care of my knees so when I get older I hopefully have fewer problems getting around doing everyday things.
Great exercise! I tore my ACL 17 years ago. All these years both my knees started to hurt. I had a Xray too make sure I didn't tear my knee again, before I started exercising. Thanks for helping me out!!😊
Very helpful tips indeed. I felt a significant improvement in my knee pain after doing these exercises. Thank you, and like you said PROPER FORM is key!
Thank you for these exercises! My doctor recommended strengthening my quads for my knee pain, so I tried them yesterday. I know they're working because I can feel every little muscle in my legs today. Looking forward to getting stronger!
Thank you. I have prior sports injuries and a recent MCL. After watching numerous videos, your videos are superior. The best explanations and actual demonstrations at the same time. Your videos are Pilates and yoga based for sports related injuries. Please continue. Charge if you need to.
It works. I had so much pain in the past month and in need of some help. I feeL more relax in the knee and will continue to do until all pains are gone
Hi Dr Joe I'm super excited to see how this routine will strengthen my knees. I'm so happy I found your channel. Your content is exactly what I need so I quickly subscribed. Thanks for all you provide I truly appreciate you.
Dr jo my doctor said I have osteoarthritis and he referred me to go to physical therapy. So it's been a month so far. Twice a week sessions. I do the same exercises and then some. My question is, "why do I get quad cramps at night after my sessions?" I can't sleep when I get muscle cramps at night. I feel my knee more stable although I still feel knee pain. At physical therapy they give me heat treatment which seems to help my knee. I just dread the thigh cramps OMG. If only I did these knee strengthening exercises way before my torn meniscus I probably wouldn't have these knee issues. My other body joints are fine it's just my knees. I worked hard during my younger days. I got a lot of wear and tear on my knees. I'm only 54 years old. I'm a carpenter and wearing heavy tool pouch hurts my knees. Carrying heavy materials aggravates my knee pain. But all in all my knees feel more stable and I don't feel the instability. My knee pain comes and goes.... But I don't take pain medication I can tolerate pain, sometimes I ignore the pain.
I had drop-foot due to a compressed spine. After walking horribly for a year, I finally got surgery and can walk pretty well. Unfortunately, walking the way I was weakened my knees. I am going to use 3 of those exercises to see if I can slowly rebuild my strength.
I need to do these more often. Thank you! When I first started working out I used to go crazy on the Stairmaster and on the squats, no foam rolling or stretching and now it hurts to even bike.
Thank you Dr. Jo Your excercise and technic helping me to relief from my knee pain that I have been facing since 5 months Rehab is still in the process but only few set of exercises to mentioned has a great impact on knee Thank you again Dr. Jo 💚💚🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks Dr Jo, Your exercises help me a lot as I've been suffering from knee pain for a long time and I have gone for several physio sessions but it did not help much.
Thank you for this video. I just started cross country, and my right knee started hurting a lot, so the therapist advised to train my lower body, this is very useful :)
I had ligament and meniscus tears, the creaking will never go away, but when doing rehab I essentially did these same exercises, I have to do them again cause i've been lazy and lost muscle mass. But if your knee constantly hurts you might need to see a doctor again.

How long after an injury like a stretched/partially torn MCL can you start doing exercises? Is it once your knee starts feeling normal and stable again?
@@brumhelldah917 Thanks, I actually ended up mostly recovering in that left knee but during my doctors visits I had them check my other knee which has always been my bad knee. turns out i need surgery on my right knee (not even the one recently injured) from a torn meniscus at the root and he said my PCL is all stretched and has a kink in it but doesn't recommend fixing it as he said everythings holding together quite well, even my meniscus is in good shape despite flapping in the wind. bummer but ill be coming back to these vids post op.
I keep injuring my right medial ligament and suffer from sciatica on that side as well. Would you suggest I try these exercises to resolve these issues?
I know this is an old comment but they definitely do! You have so many muscles that insert around the knee and these exercises that hit your quads, hamstrings, etc. will isolate those. and the hip muscles you’re working will help with overall stability and put less strain on your knee 👍
I had recently, 11 months ago patella knee ligament reattached with 3 screws back to patella knee. I had 4 months of physical therapy twice a week. The insurance stop paying when I was able to walk up and down stairs. Before the freak accident, getting hit with an ocean wave, severely twisting my body and severely injuring knee. I was able to slow jog a mile . What exercises do you recommend to get my left knee strong enough to go jogging again. I am 58 years old. P.S. I have been doing exercises in beach ocean bay, no waves . I do side step squats and jogging from life Gaurd stand to life Gaurd stand in calm bay beach ocean water. If you would be kind enough to do video about physical therapy stretches and exercises . It would be a great help to those who are trying to use aqua water knee physical therapy to rehab knee. Thanks in advance.
Are these exercises good for knee aches too, I get a slight ache on top and around (moves) of my right knee cap during and after cycling but sometimes it's gone within a few hours. Also, how many times a day would you recommend?
I popped my knee out of place a few months ago and it took me a while to recover but I didn’t do my exercises for my knee as much like I should have and then recently i sprained it and I can’t straighten it all the way without tightness and pain so I’m here
Oh my goodness i had the exact same things happen to me except the tightness is getting better i had the sprain started to weeks ago because I went to the A & E cause at one point i couldnt walk but its been a couple of weeks and the doctors said it should have healed by now
do you think this will help me with my back knee (genu recurvatum) my knees aren’t like straight they kind of hyperextend and bend backwards so i want to know if this will somewhat fix that
the last jedi They are such mild exercises, I would think you could do them everyday. Although if your getting sore you should give your body time to recover.
Hi I've had chronic knee pain from mis-aligned knee joint, it seemed to start after a fall I had scraping, not hard but I do remember it on the inner side of my knee joint. I've had it for two years, and it's probably because I stop remembering to do the specific or even correct knee exercises regularly, once the pain goes. I exercise a lot, either running or doing HIIT sessions, 2 - 4 times a week. not necessarily massive ones, between 7 - 45 mins a time, but really regularly and as a Pilates Instructor doing that at least 4-6 times a week. I really want to get it right this time, so I'm wondering how long you're meant to stay off the exercise while you rehabilitate. I usually go back to the running and HIIT sessions, the minute the pain goes, so I'd only rest for maybe a week. Thank you for the videos, they're really great.
You're welcome, and thanks. It's very different for everyone, so it's hard to say since I can't evaluate you. You really just have to listen to your body, and slowly progress back into things instead of just jumping back into it.
Do I need to do some warmup like light jogging before doing these knee exercises? I do Insanity workout in the evening and I want to do these knee strengthening exercises in the morning. Will it work?
The one I’m using in the video is called the Womfy, but it’s no longer available. I have reviewed a few other pillows including the SleepOvation pillow. You can find the review here: ua-cam.com/video/v-Nq8qm7RQk/v-deo.html or you can use this link to purchase it: shrsl.com/23jww (affiliate link)
I actually enjoyed the first one!!!!! Thank you. It's been hard to figure out what to do. If it is only one knee should I be doing both anyway or just the weak one?
finally! i had a knee dislocation and now i'm trying to strengthen it back. this is the first exercise video that perfectly fits me (the other ones would hurt or just won't work for me). i hope it works :)
@@ashpro3259 i did this workout for some time and then decided to go to physical therapy (6 appointments). because i had already done this workout, everything i did in physio was easy and makeable. my knee is definetly stronger now. i will continue on following these exercises, since i finished therapy.
Ok so maybe I have some hope. @@user-hq4um2nw3h yes it has gotten much better. Idk what Kind of surgery you are getting but your knee will be swole for 1 or 2 months. Its important that you build up a lot of muscle Mass or you knees could dislocate again afterwards if you are not careful
@@addi1105how long did it take you to get back to basketball? Cus im a drama school student and we have to be active all the time. Thats why im kinda concerned about to recover and get back to do crazy physical stuff again. How long do you think will it take approximately?
@@user-hq4um2nw3h oh that took a bit longer 😥. After the surgery, your left leg basically needs to re-learn how to walk again, not to Talk about crazy direction changes. Maybe 9 months to a year 😣

I popped my knee out of place a few months ago and it took me a while to recover but I didn’t do my exercises for my knee as much like I should have and then recently i sprained it and I can’t straighten it all the way without tightness and pain so I’m here
Oh my goodness i had the exact same things happen to me except the tightness is getting better i had the sprain started to weeks ago because I went to the A & E cause at one point i couldnt walk but its been a couple of weeks and the doctors said it should have healed by now
do you think this will help me with my back knee (genu recurvatum) my knees aren’t like straight they kind of hyperextend and bend backwards so i want to know if this will somewhat fix that
good exercises. I am working on strengthening my left knee as I will have it replaced in March. Thank you
Thanks, and you're welcome. Good luck with your surgery.
Ouch..let us know if it worked good
these are the same I did for after having both knees replaced,
Damn that's scary what did you do
A big thorough thank you doctor Jo
You're welcome!
Thanks for this do we have to do all 7 per day or just one or two exercises
the last jedi They are such mild exercises, I would think you could do them everyday.
A quick 2-3 minute warm up is a good idea. It can be marching in place, jumping jacks, or a light jog. Good luck.
what's that purple pillow your using there looks super comfortable
The one I’m using in the video is called the Womfy, but it’s no longer available. I have reviewed a few other pillows including the SleepOvation pillow. You can find the review here: ua-cam.com/video/v-Nq8qm7RQk/v-deo.html or you can use this link to purchase it: shrsl.com/23jww (affiliate link)
I actually enjoyed the first one!!!!! Thank you. It's been hard to figure out what to do. If it is only one knee should I be doing both anyway or just the weak one?
You're welcome. I would do both.
Helped me a lot.....Thank you so much🙏
You're welcome.
tnx, you`re a great reminder
You’re welcome.
Thanks so much! Hopefully these will help a painful knee.
You're welcome!
finally! i had a knee dislocation and now i'm trying to strengthen it back. this is the first exercise video that perfectly fits me (the other ones would hurt or just won't work for me). i hope it works :)
How is going so far?
@@ashpro3259 i did this workout for some time and then decided to go to physical therapy (6 appointments). because i had already done this workout, everything i did in physio was easy and makeable. my knee is definetly stronger now. i will continue on following these exercises, since i finished therapy.
@@stein2081 thank you for replying and hope you get well soon :)
@@ashpro3259 np and thanks!!
Ok so maybe I have some hope. My knee dislocated VERY badly last night and I had to go to the hospital, I'm only 14 and I'm scared that my knee might continue doing it 😕 my knee has been weak for a few years since I got into a ski accident. I love skiing but after the injury I gave it up as I'm too afraid to go back 🙁
Your exercises are really good and helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome!

Will these exercises help relieve pain under my knee cap? Thank you.
Do you have a specific diagnosis? It might help, but it really just depends on what is causing it.
@@AskDoctorJo Im having pain in my right knee towards the outside under my knee cap. I can't remember falling either. Thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing these excersices. Very helpful and easy to do.
You're welcome!
Thanks for the Vid. I am recovering from a surgery After dislocating my knee caps multiple Times and need to strengthen my knees to get back to Basketball
are your knees bending?
Im about to have a surgery and suffering from the same problem. How do you feel after the surgery? Is it getting any better?
Maybe 9 months to a year 😣
I have a knee injury from a few years ago that flares up when I go to the gym so I really hope these exercises work. Thank you!
You're welcome! I hope they help too.
