My father has Knees Osteoarthritis for a few years. We had reached to a stage where pain killers were not helpful. He watched these tips and started doing these exercises. It worked for him amazingly. He is back to normal functioning. He stopped doing exercising at one stage but had to start as developed pain again. Thank you very much for solving this issue for my Dad and for me as well as he was constantly looking for help and medical advice. God bless you.
Naveed Bangash, I know I’m a year late, but I was wondering how long your father did each exercise for, and how many reps he did. My dad works really long hours standing straight for way too long - even though he’s old, so I give messages to help relieve pain he gets from working like that every day. But you say these stretches really work, so I’d like to try them on him too!
This lady has become my angel, her knee strengthening exercises not only give me the best bum and thigh workout ever but my body feels so much better. I feel ten year younger. Thanks Jo I'm sharing your pages with everyone.
Dr. Jo.. thank you for the time that you spend putting together these videos. You have the talent to describe in an easy and clear way how this exercises works and what areas. I am starting to follow them due to my knee issues ( early stage). Thank you again.
I strained my knee on a Friday from squats in the gym. Did all these exercises 3 times a day for 30 reps and the stretches once a day. Got great relief after the third day...and a week later I was back in the gym. I hated doing them, but the motivation was either be back in the gym in a week, or be out of the gym for a month.
I’ve strained my knee doing too many squats and lunges over the months, 6 days a week mostly, as part of my HiiT and strength workouts. It’s so frustrating. As well as doing these knee exercises, did you do any like upper body or abs exercises too? I’m trying to but wondered if I should be completely avoiding all exercise/workouts as I might prolong recovery (apart from knee exercises) 🤔 😔
Thank you Dr Jo for this very useful video. I've had severe widespread arthritis for years and had a total knee replacement 5 years ago. I'm retired and have other health issues as well so though my knee is a great success I have little strength and poor balance no stamina... At 60 I thought that's just my lot but now I think with the help of your videos I could improve my physical and mental health gradually whilst accepting my limitations...I don't expect to be 16 again but just stronger and more able to cope day to day with life and be as independent as I can. God bless you from vera in Northern Ireland. PS love your t-shirt! My lovely Snoopy..large black and white Springer spaniel died on April 20th this year just two days before his eighth birthday in a seizure and I miss him dreadfully...a very loving and special friend.
This is the third time in 5 years I've visited your site for help, so I finally got around to sending a DONATION! What's invaluable is the way you explain things so clearly...the first time, I had seen a PT here in town for the diagnosis, and they hadn't been as specific as you are so their instruction actually made me worse because my posture wasn't correct. You're the BEST, and thanks for making this available free to so many people who need it. (But to those of you who can afford to send her a couple of bucks, don't wait 5 years like I did!)
Looked at a lot of sites. Dr.Jo has helped me a lot . Had surgery on both knees and helping with strengthening my hips to help with my knees is a life saver. When i did the others there was no hip strengthing. Thank you. Looking at her sites to take care of the other parts of the body.
Doctor Jo, Thank you for these helpful videos! I started to follow them in 2017 while recovering after broken ankle surgery. I come back for different reasons and always find help advice from you! 👍🤗
My knees were the best thing about me then my gym closed and I had to start (yuck) gardening for exercise. One morning my left knee hurt so much that I was limping. One viewing and acting as advised in this video and I'm cured. I'm now jiggling my knee caps, squatting and stretching as per Dr. Jo. AMAZING!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much You really are the best! I have had a knee replacement and the other one is going so I really need your help.To all scrolling through have a lovely day and do those exercises! 💞💕💞💕😄
Thank you so much i found your video which is good for my knee. I am 67 years old and i have an osteoarthritis in my knee. the hardest one to do is no.6 i could hardly straighten my body because my knee really hurt.
Thank you so much Dr. Jo. Your explanation for each exercise is so nice. I have added these exercises in my routine workout. Thank you once again for your great work.
Great video thank you! Very informative and easy to follow. I didn't realize how connected my hip strength was with my knee stabilization doing these exercises I really feel the tenderness in my hip muscles that was previously overshadowed by my knee pain. I plan to do these exercises everyday to strengthen up and hopefully prevent my lame knee from dislocating anymore.
Thankyou for such detail exercise. 6 months ago I fell down my stairs and I have suffered knee pain hip pain and lots of pins and needles. I feel that your exercises have been a god send whilst waiting for a physiotherapist. So I say huge thanks.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I wanted to know that I don't have any injury, its just that I have pain in my knees while bending, climbing stairs. I can't even squat. Plz guide me on this.
You're welcome. Unfortunately, I really don't know what would be best since I can't evaluate you, but if you are having pain without an injury, you should really check in with your doctor.

Hi Doctor Jo, just subscribed.. My whole left leg has a problem, like from my hip, to my knee and now my heel... It has gotten worse as I've started bn consistent with my workouts
Thanks. If it feels like it's radiating down the leg, it might be sciatica. I have several videos for that too. You can find them on my channel: ua-cam.com/users/askdoctorjo
Thank you Dr. Jo. I have been wanting to try these exercises for a while and I finally did this morning and they are great. I attend a spin class 3x a week and I am beginning to experience knee pain in my right knee. I just read other comments and I see these exercises should be done daily. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Hi Dr Jo - have had multiple arthroscopies due to meniscus tears and recently hurt my knees doing isometric leg presses. Following your various knee strengthening videos and slowly improving (over a 6 week period). I'm also spinning very gently on my bike which is on an indoor trainer. However, if stand on the pedals, I cannot complete a full revolution. The knee becomes extremely sore and it feels like i have no strength. Can you suggest a rehab strategy to address this please. Thanks for these exercises. My knee has started making a popping sound when I get up from the chair. Why is it so? Can you suggest some exercises and remedies for this?
Hi Dr Jo thank u for these wonderful videos very informative & helpful,! I have one question I have knee pain due to weak quadriceps do I take medications or I do ur knee stretchin exercices before i start working out?

Hi Dr. Jo. I love this video, but unlike some of your other videos you do not mention number of reps or duration of holding a position. Does your printable worksheet for this specific video contain that information. I am a subscriber.
It's different for everyone depending on what your diagnosis is, how long you've had it, and how your body reacts. This might help: www.askdoctorjo.com/content/repetitious-repetitions-0 Yes, the worksheet does have that information. Good luck!
Great set of exercises, thanks. My only suggestion is to move the subtitles so that they don't hide what to do with the feet or lower legs. But I like the sets a lot. It's really helping!
It sounds like your closed captions got turned on. You can easily turn them off by clicking the "CC" button at the bottom of the video. If you want to leave them on, you can drag them to another area on the screen, or you can make them transparent. You can even automatically translate them into many different languages. Last year I had both my knees replaced 8 weeks apart I completed my PT visits for both knees. My first knee they had me doing these exercises, when I had my 2nd knee done, they didn't have me doing these exercises they said they were trying to catch it up to my right knee. I have been having trouble with the left knee. The more I used my left knee the worse it got. Been to the Dr. a couple of times with no help. I said it would be that way for awhile after 6 months of exercising with the more advanced exercises it got to the point that I could barely walk. And was in pain all the time while walking I knew it was my muscles because it only hurt while standing and walking. I have been doing these exercises for a week and a half now. I am seeing a huge improvement in my mobility. I am able to get up and start walking with light pain now. Thanks for reminding me about these exercises. That PT skipped. Its making a difference in my life.
Well, Dr. Jo, I thought I was subscribed, but checked again after my second message to you and found I had to enable a setting. I am now subscribed for sure. If my msg didn't get through, I'll just try again some other time. Thanks anyway.

Hi Dr Jo I can feel discomfort in my groin on my right side as well as my hip and knee. I am waiting to see a physio. Will these exercises also help the groin discomfort? Thank you for your videos. Pauline
Dr. Jo, I am 82, did half squat and strained my knee and ham string, saw ortho Dr and am on the mend. Your leg exercises are the ones I need to get muscle strength back. Can you please give me suggestion for slowly starting back routine for number of reps and duration of holds? I would be so grateful for some examples. Thanks for being on UA-cam😊
You're welcome. It's different for everyone depending on what your diagnosis is, how long you've had it, and how your body reacts. The information in this video may help: ua-cam.com/video/Uo2Bz7F339I/v-deo.html
Thanks I started doing this for a week once a day 30 reps for first 5 exercises and eventually added some weight and the muscles around my knee seem a lot better
I have already subscribed about an hour ago. Thank you very much Dr. Jo for your easy to follow work. I’m a 73 year old woman. Could you share the best way to sit and the best way to stand and the best way to sleep. I also have Parkinson’s Disease but not too badly. I am slow and stiff but I don’t need a cane or a walker. I’m very lucky. Sincerely Denise
Hi Dr. Jo, Just discovered your exercises and like many other viewers, thank you for putting them on UA-cam. What pillow (to support the head) are you using or recommend to keep the head safe while exercising?
You're welcome. The one I’m using is called the Womfy, but it’s no longer available. Here is one that looks similar, but I have not tried it: amzn.to/3mVhTSw (affiliate link)

You're welcome. Sorry to hear it was a rough start, but I am glad you are progressing again. Good luck with the rest of your recovery!
Well, Dr. Jo, I thought I was subscribed, but checked again after my second message to you and found I had to enable a setting. I am now subscribed for sure. If my msg didn't get through, I'll just try again some other time. Thanks anyway.
No worries. I saw your first message. I hope it helps.

Hi Dr Jo
I can feel discomfort in my groin on my right side as well as my hip and knee.

I’m a 73 year old woman. Could you share the best way to sit and the best way to stand and the best way to sleep. I also have Parkinson’s Disease but not too badly. I am slow and stiff but I don’t need a cane or a walker. I’m very lucky.
Sincerely
Denise

Hi Dr Jo ! Are these safe if i have a torn menisucus ? I usually have pain in the knee when putting pressure on it

What do you think about crunchy sound in the knees? Do you have an exercise that takes it away?
If it's not painful and just annoying, it's called crepitus. Exercises like the above video might help.
Could you please guide me on how many reps and sets of these exercises should I do?
She hasn't replied to me either. So I do 10 reps each and hold for about 5 seconds each.
খুব ভাল লাগল অনেক অনেক ধন্যবাদ ,এত সুন্দর সব exercise জানানোর জন্য, খুব উপকৃত হলাম ।
