This is sad, but true. I am an old soul and I get off and on. It’s like I try to get with it, but I really can’t. Time is so precious and making memories in REAL LIFE is so much more important.
Me, too. I am just too real for the thing and it gives me social anxiety of a weird type. I am also very aware of how corosive it is in so many ways and time-wasting, most of all. I see it as Aldous Huxley's version of hypnotic control over the masses, as well. Recently, after taking a break and going back on, I had the revelation that I am just part of an ever-passing, very temporary, and massive stream of mostly time-wasting information passing by, and I don't want to be part of that.
I DELETED MY FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM TODAY...I'M TIRED OF FEELING LIKE I'M NOT ENOUGH AND WHOLE....I AM WHOLE AND ITS TIME FOR SELF AWARENESS AND IMPROVEMENT
Every time I've deleted facebook I've felt such a sense of relief, the constant content of negativity and fighting really has an effect on your mind. After I deleted facebook I felt a day of separation anxiety and then I didn't miss it at all, I went outside and got busy doing other things, going to museums, joining meet up groups, hanging out at the dog park, I actually realized the entire time I was offline I was thinking about being online.. right there is a sign theres a problem. Get outside and look at nature, get back to basics. It will change your life.
I noticed myself doing things or buying things just so that I could show them on social media to get compliments or attention, and thus I deleted all my social media and immediately I started feeling like I was living my own life. Now I REALLY feel like I can be my own person!!
"try going a week without social media and it will change your life" - I'm 44 years without social media and I can attest to the accuracy of that statement.
i was addicted to facebook for close to 8 years. i would deactivate then activate. it started becoming like a hamster wheel. till you finally say to yourself. why do i have to express my life or show off my life to other people. strangers even just for attention. social media brings out the inner childhood of grown ppl who never got attention when they were children. so now you seek it as adults. mind you in the most precarious of ways! happy to say i’ve been off of it now for almost 2 years and have no earthly intentions of returning.
Well I got attention my whole life until junior year of highschool 😭 I hated getting not attention in real life like I used to and in order to get attention I started using social media so much and got badly addicted now I'm trying hard to get rid of it!!!!!! UA-cam is the last thing I have to get rid of but it's built-in app in my phone and it 😭 wouldn't uninstall
UGh... I hate it when these guys/girls try to qualify everything by saying, "I'm not saying social media is bad," when they are challenging you to leave it. Don't leave a foot in the door. Go out all the way. It *IS* bad.
I Quit social media bkz I felt like im addicted to social media, over using it and feeling anxiety and depressed often, and i want to live my life and be happy in real , protect my mental health and peace....❤
I don't mess with social media with the exception of UA-cam. When I travel or go somewhere that is visually pleasing I take it in and remember. I'll snap 1 pic for personal gain but it doesn't hit any social platform.
I've never had Fb or Snapchat. When I see someone that I haven't see in a while or meet new friends, always asked me if I Fb or Snapchat, or Instagram. I told them no, and they are always surprise. They never called or text me as if we shouldn't call or text any more. I personally would like to get together with friends. Just chatting or go for a walk. Oh well, that's all fine with me. I don't need to feel accepted and no peer pressure for me. They only want to connect through social media.
Tina teews I know what you mean. People no longer want to be friends in real life for the most part. Everything is so technology driven and many fall into it’s trap. So sad!
Getting together with people takes effort. And being a real friend requires a certain amount of vulnerability as well. Facebook makes it too easy to be "friends" with other people by doing away with that awkwardness and effort. I think in reality, social media trivializes true relationships.
I grew up in the 70s..80s.. without social media. I miss those days. So many picture taking of ourselves these days! Why? To polish out the bad parts, "post" it on a page and show the world how pretty we are...with filters? And why do we have to be reminded NOT to " Post" while sitting in the movie theater waiting for the movie to start? We have become so SELF ABSORBED ..we as a society used to care about each other more, ask each other how they felt, reach out...I'm very sad.
Nowadays everyone wanna show how much they have achieved, what they have done in their life and nothing more... Social media is namesake when it's come to socialization it's for narcissists
I may be born in 1998 but I fully agree! I wish I had the privilege of growing up before social media and before technology was such a big part of of our lives. It really has taken over and changed society for the worse. I truly hope that things will reverse and change for the better!
Life without social media is peaceful.. deactivated my instagram was the right choice ive ever made.. Not choices that are just healthy for your body, but healthy for your mind.
GREAT VIDEO. I quit social media around 4 or 5 years ago, and let me tell you... BEST THING I EVER DID. Less stress, more time and you can be more focussed, more present, less pressure on yourself to keep up with the trend. It's truly great. Thank the Lord.
I deleted social media too. More time to do things with feeling less sadness because I was seeing on social media what others had that I didn't. Invest that time in better things that actually lead to accomplishing your goals.
as an introvert i can tell you i suffered so much trying to follow the norms and be like everyone else. i was constantly drained and didnt feel good what so everl. finally i started thinking about myself and delete everything and now i feel a sense of self. as an introvert ive never been intrested in other peoples lifes ive always liked deep talks, not the usual plain talk. today only three months later i can assure that my lifes soooo much better. im actually happy now. still going, learning everyday
I quit social media after my life became consumed with politics and debates about racism and negativity. Times were definitely better without so much information. We need more interaction with people
I wish I was born way too long, then I would not have to worry about finding out too much information that consumes my soul.. If I was 90 I would be happy I never used my phone for social media.. Too much information on socials, too much hate, too much ignorance
I deleted my social media 2 months ago, I am 19 years old and people think I am weird. The reality is that I have never been this happy, I learned who are my real friends and I have more time to live my real life. Never going back to my old life!
Today is my 22nd day without social media and oh my is life great.( I'm 18 and this was not an easy decision but it's absolutely worth it, I have so much time and my anxiety lessened too.)
I remember the late 90s and early 2000s when you had to sit on a computer and connect through a telephone to the internet. At that time we had a real notion of online and offline. We really missed that separation.
Today marks the beginning of my journey to free myself from constant comparison and lack of self awareness, a numbness, a box that has taken over every aspect of my life, has stopped and prolonged me from reaching my goals, has made me sad, anxious, mad at myself. I no longer want to rely on social media to “give me something to do” when I have “nothing to do” because I do have things to do, I need to live my life. Maybe one day I’ll be able to manage both but for now I’m ready for a total reset. Good luck to all you can do this!
Come on we know that people's real purpose in using social media is not like they want to share their life with their friends and socializing. They real purpose is make others jealous and get attention like "Heey look I'm having so much fun I'm very happy look how cool is my new car " (sitting at home cries and eat mcdonalds) " fake people ew
Glossophilia maduru I agree with you that people use these Social Apps to get attention, and to cause others to become jealous of one another. It seems like the offline/online equivelent of "Keeping up with the Jones's.
I know right? Instagram made an insecure person. Who was jealous of someone and something all the time. I still use Instagram but only follow the accounts that are good and are motivational. I don't follow those fake celebrities. Or my friends who try too hard to show how perfect their life is but in reality it is not. I also stopped anything on my Instagram since a whole month.
I've deleted all social media from my phone except UA-cam for almost two months, I feel good. Now I'm thinking limiting my UA-cam and smartphone time, for me to feel even better👍🏻 Highly recommend!
For inner pleasure , I depended on social media. But there comes a point in life where when we are depressed with our life , social media is not gonna make you feel better. At that moment its your true hobbies like excercise, reading, journaling, cold shower, your job etc which is gonna make you feel better.
Lovely speech :) I deleted Facebook a few months back, it is full of drama and negativity and made me feel anxious. Now I'm slightly addicted to Netflix and UA-cam but it's a start! Least there's inspirational things to watch :)
Its been a year i deleted whatsapp,,, now i hv deleted fb n insta... Now i m living with the ones who really care for me... They call me. I felt lucky.... Starting to love myself now.... I dnt care if u read my comment or not but if u r reading... My suggestion to u is in watever way u want to stay happy be that way..but remember if u r wasting time on others more than on urself...then in the long run u will regret.... In watever way plz love yourself n progress in ur life....
I'm on social media break now. And what Ryan said in his video is a hundred percent true. I've experienced it myself that being constantly on social media means leaving yourself to turn into a judgemental individual and lead you to a feel of inadequate. I learned that the hard way especially with ig. I was literally too caught up with instagram. But, thank God I could recognise my problem right away so further bad impacts wouldn't harm me anymore
I have not been using Instagram for roughly 5 years now, and that has led me to shape the way I use other social media. I used to have twitter, snapchat, etc. Now I only use Line, Whatsapp, to contact my dearest people, and youtube as a news and thought source. No more than that, and I thank to myself how I can fight for my own ego to not be eaten by itself. Keep being thoughtful guys!
I have quit facebook for 9 days and I am happier, less depressed, have less anxiety, no more panic attacks. I am seeing now how much time I was spending on it and how addicted I was to it.
Deleted Snapchat and Instagram 3 days ago and I’m honestly upset it took me until now to do so. Thinking about all of those moments I stared at my screen instead of where I was. Thinking about taking pictures of my perfectly assembled meal, OOTD, and “having fun” when I truly wasn’t. Social media is a controlling monster that has a way of controlling us mentally, behaviorally, and physically yet we don’t realize this until helpful videos like this or an epiphany hits us.
Been off social media (except UA-cam) for over a year now. Absolutely no regrets and I'm so happy 😊 Its sad to see so many people living through their phones.
I have an app that tells me how long I've been on my phone on a daily and weekly basis... the week after I deleted Instagram I spent almost 24 hours less on my phone... I actually gained a whole day to do things that are better for me, like reading, painting, meditating, etc... The funny thing is that my excuse to use Instagram so much was to get inspired by other people's accomplishments, and it was actually taking me time away from going and doing those things myself
in the 90s and every generation before that when internet wasnt as ubiquitous, no one was comparing lives to each other, and look how happy and confident we were
A like cannot replace a smile....so true. I agree with the many points you have shared. Thanks for these beautiful ripples ❤ May we truly learn to live in the present moment.
I used to use Facebook a lot and i was kinda addicted to it. then i went to a boarding school, where we were not allowed to keep mobile phones. and as my faded addiction away, i started enjoying life more than ever before
I know for many it feels tough to do the final step. I did it once and came back after some time which was a big mistake. I wanna focus on my life and especially on my family. Life is beautiful and even if it will be hard sometimes, then we should lift our heads and do something about it instead of lowering our heads to look at a screen which doesn't makes us feel better. We live only once and we live now. Be strong, folks.
Smart young man. I keep going on and off & when I am off, I’m without a doubt happier and more calm, less intrusive thoughts. The stimulation isn’t healthy for me. Definitely motivated me to keep off.
I’ve been without social medial for months now and I am able to think for myself again! No outside influences, no comparing my life to how I see others living on online, and my relationship is now in the most peaceful and happy place! I recommend deleting social medial to EVERYONE! Best decision ever.
I felt unsure about deleting Instagram for months. But After watching this video, I courageously take action and deleted it permanently! I encourage you, that felt the same as me..😍
I deleted my social media accounts on 16th June. It’s the best thing I ever did. Had no idea how addicted to SM I was and how many wasted hours I have spent since 2007. It’s also proven how many real friends I have in the world. The ones that matter still message me daily.
Whenever someone says “no specific pop-culture references please, we don’t want to make anybody who doesn’t get it feel left out” they’re talking about this guy
A couple of days ago I just got so mad about how much power Instagram, Facebook even tiktok had about me. It would determine my days, happiness and self-worth. A few days ago I just started slowly by deactivating all my accounts I hope I can soon completely delete them. And I feel so much better and lighter already, I see more now what truly matters for me in my life. I still sometimes catch myself how I just want to check on it and just have one look. But I try to see is as an addiction and just read a book instead I’ve also noticed that being on my phone is actually quiet boring and I became a lot more mindful. It’s very beautiful!
It’s my 11th day without social media I purposely erased the apps because I realized I was addicted and I’ve been doing so much more productive stuff , I love these type of videos ! And I don’t plan to get it back until August 6th. I challenged myself to not have social media for a month , Ik sounds insane but it’s been amazing so far , you guys should try it it’s a life changer
Social media agreed is a biggest waste of time. And it's more socially isolating then being alone. People aren't really social they're all they care about is posting their content getting likes they don't care about really making friends
Yes, I accept your challenge of going one week without social media. Oh, and beside the great message, I'd like to take a moment to pay respect to the controlled pace of your speech. That is real talent.
I started disabling my notifications for the social media apps, it helped me in decreasing my gratification and only checking it without any outer stimulation.
Not sure if social media can be the cause of depression but more like a trigger and something that maybe doesn't help if you are already feeling a bit low. I've never had issues with it at all, I loved insta because I'm a photographer and I uploaded my work and could see others but in may I had a relapse on depression and social media did made it worse, I started having really bad anxiety because I'd compare my low with people's edited lives. I deleted it and now I have recovered, I don't even miss it, I feel so at peace and can focus better on my tasks, started studying anatomy, doing curses, working better and starting new projects🖤🥰

Although i dont use the app i have shares. They quietly shut the f up. No response then. I laughed 😂. Told them to stop living society’s life

I love how nervous this guy is in the start, it feels really human.
This is sad, but true. I am an old soul and I get off and on. It’s like I try to get with it, but I really can’t. Time is so precious and making memories in REAL LIFE is so much more important.
You really just described me 😩 i deleted all my social media two days ago for good.
I feel I’m an old soul too :(
I DELETED MY FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM TODAY...I'M TIRED OF FEELING LIKE I'M NOT ENOUGH AND WHOLE....I AM WHOLE AND ITS TIME FOR SELF AWARENESS AND IMPROVEMENT
WHOLE AND GLAMOROUS YOU KEEP LIKE THAT GIRL!!!
how is it going? :)
@@newit2184 GREAT!!!
You are whole!
AMEN THANK YOU
Every time I've deleted facebook I've felt such a sense of relief, the constant content of negativity and fighting really has an effect on your mind.
Best of luck to you and your marriage! And don't go back to social media!!
ADCF Productions Lol thank you!
@@ZuoZhou You're welcome Zuoooo!!! :D
"try going a week without social media and it will change your life" - I'm 44 years without social media and I can attest to the accuracy of that statement.
44 years???
I can see the honesty in his eyes, perfect!
Are you alive?
i was addicted to facebook for close to 8 years. i would deactivate then activate. it started becoming like a hamster wheel. till you finally say to yourself. why do i have to express my life or show off my life to other people. strangers even just for attention. social media brings out the inner childhood of grown ppl who never got attention when they were children. so now you seek it as adults. mind you in the most precarious of ways! happy to say i’ve been off of it now for almost 2 years and have no earthly intentions of returning.
The inner childhood of grown people, well said. That is exactly what it does.
I need that “why” right now
@Live life To the fullest ...well said 👍
Well I got attention my whole life until junior year of highschool 😭 I hated getting not attention in real life like I used to and in order to get attention I started using social media so much and got badly addicted now I'm trying hard to get rid of it!!!!!! UA-cam is the last thing I have to get rid of but it's built-in app in my phone and it 😭 wouldn't uninstall
Diamond Unicorn I honestly thought I was only one who felt that way.
UGh... I hate it when these guys/girls try to qualify everything by saying, "I'm not saying social media is bad," when they are challenging you to leave it. Don't leave a foot in the door. Go out all the way. It *IS* bad.
agreee
right
It is! Some very small exceptions, otherwise yeah, it's bad. 😕
I look forward to this social media free life.
Social media has the convenience of having everything in one place is nice. But of course it should be done in moderation.
Austin Thornton I dont see youtube as social media..
Same with me, I take only few pictures just to remember the place I'd been to
I've never had Fb or Snapchat.
Tina teews if you live in Orlando I can take a walk with you. I am in the same situation
I have a year without fuckbook and all I'll say is IM FREE!!!!
🙌
I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I feel the same way. And as useful as smartphones are, I really miss the days before them.
I may be born in 1998 but I fully agree! I wish I had the privilege of growing up before social media and before technology was such a big part of of our lives. It really has taken over and changed society for the worse. I truly hope that things will reverse and change for the better!
Daddy g
Life without social media is peaceful.. deactivated my instagram was the right choice ive ever made.. Not choices that are just healthy for your body, but healthy for your mind.
i can live without those social media but oh please, youtube is my life.
nrn syz UA-cam isn’t a social media
Janella Mondragon thats why i separate it.
Actually, UA-cam is already considered social media.
I have average 3,5 hours a day :D
I want to get rid of UA-cam too but it's pre-installed in my phone and it wouldn't uninstall 😭😭😭😭
GREAT VIDEO. I quit social media around 4 or 5 years ago, and let me tell you... BEST THING I EVER DID. Less stress, more time and you can be more focussed, more present, less pressure on yourself to keep up with the trend. It's truly great. Thank the Lord.
I deleted my social media 2 months ago and have never felt so much peace. I’m finally living free of FOMO.
I have also found my passion and peace after quitting social media. Thank you for the beautiful talk.👍
I disconnected yesterday. I have mental health issues and this clip helped. Part of me becoming a better father, husband and worker.
I quit social media just a half year ago. I am so happy to find out people like me here.
I remember the late 90s and early 2000s when you had to sit on a computer and connect through a telephone to the internet. At that time we had a real notion of online and offline. We really missed that separation.
I remember those times too....I miss that time...
I haven't opened social media in 3 days and I feel a big change in my life
I also quit all social media....now i live a peaceful life.
A genuine and heartfelt message. Thanks Ryan, for being so genuine
Come on we know that people's real purpose in using social media is not like they want to share their life with their friends and socializing. They real purpose is make others jealous and get attention like "Heey look I'm having so much fun I'm very happy look how cool is my new car " (sitting at home cries and eat mcdonalds) "
fake people ew
Very true
Glossophilia maduru I agree with you that people use these Social Apps to get attention, and to cause others to become jealous of one another. It seems like the offline/online equivelent of "Keeping up with the Jones's.
Yea right
I know right? Instagram made an insecure person. Who was jealous of someone and something all the time. I still use Instagram but only follow the accounts that are good and are motivational. I don't follow those fake celebrities. Or my friends who try too hard to show how perfect their life is but in reality it is not. I also stopped anything on my Instagram since a whole month.
Sadly
Once you delete your social media apps, you kinda end up deleting the editing apps as well because, well, what's the use?💀
😂True
Hi
That's so accurate!
True true
so true!!
This is why I deleted all the social media apps on my phone.
@@livex38 no, i think it's not. unless..you think youtube is vlog 😂
I think we can all agree that social media has weakened us individually and collectively as a society. We should all be embarrassed.
Rena Ribeiro So true!
Social media gave you more stress than real life Now i am focus on my goal well
Thankyou universe
Been off social media (except UA-cam) for over a year now. Absolutely no regrets and I'm so happy 😊 Its sad to see so many people living through their phones.
I love it that the comments on a video about quitting social media are so positive and supportive. Clearly once you are out, you are better :)
1 year social media free. It does get better. Life is too short to live online.
I can listen to this guy the whole day, such a smooth voice he has.
This guy is a really sweet soul
I have an app that tells me how long I've been on my phone on a daily and weekly basis... the week after I deleted Instagram I spent almost 24 hours less on my phone... I actually gained a whole day to do things that are better for me, like reading, painting, meditating, etc...
The funny thing is that my excuse to use Instagram so much was to get inspired by other people's accomplishments, and it was actually taking me time away from going and doing those things myself
in the 90s and every generation before that when internet wasnt as ubiquitous, no one was comparing lives to each other, and look how happy and confident we were
I love the way this guy speaks, so politely and calmly.
So many good points in this. And such a humble speech.
You are about to change my life , ur words are precious and u r so handsome . Thank you from now
A like cannot replace a smile....so true. I agree with the many points you have shared. Thanks for these beautiful ripples ❤ May we truly learn to live in the present moment.
Why are knowledge, self awareness and intelligence so freaking attractive?😤😪
This ted talk seriously turned me on a bit🤦🏾♀️.
Smart man.👏🏾🤔
oh jesus christ XDD hahahaha love that!
But you're not smart and that turned me off
@@magnavitae4736 you ruined it :C
I quit instagram for more than 3 months now. Feels like the winner 💙
Whenever someone says “no specific pop-culture references please, we don’t want to make anybody who doesn’t get it feel left out” they’re talking about this guy
Watching this on social media to quit social media !!
I challenged myself to not have social media for a month , Ik sounds insane but it’s been amazing so far , you guys should try it it’s a life changer
though I cant rid off social media, ur words deeply effective on me
Social media agreed is a biggest waste of time. And it's more socially isolating then being alone. People aren't really social they're all they care about is posting their content getting likes they don't care about really making friends
Wow that was a incredible insight and display , amaze me how authentic the dude seems while speaking
Yes, I accept your challenge of going one week without social media.
Oh, and beside the great message, I'd like to take a moment to pay respect to the controlled pace of your speech. That is real talent.
"A Like can't replace a smile or a compliment"
Beautiful line there ❤
I deleted my Facebook a few days ago and I feel so free and don’t even miss it . I feel more private and less on edge .
I started disabling my notifications for the social media apps, it helped me in decreasing my gratification and only checking it without any outer stimulation.
No Facebook for 5 years , no Twitter or Instagram for over a year, never had Snapchat

I grew up on social media, now I’ve completely deleted each one of them.

Is there anyone who has gone through depression because of this social media ?
@iam abhijiths 🙌
I deleted it and now I have recovered, I don't even miss it, I feel so at peace and can focus better on my tasks, started studying anatomy, doing curses, working better and starting new projects🖤🥰
i did and i deleted instagram a week ago i’ve never felt better mentally

I did and I finally understood it’s because of social media hence got rid of it finally. Feel so much happier now :)
This guy knows what is he talking. I understand him. I had the same peace in my mind deleting social media and without for more then one year. Now I have Facebook. But not using that much. Maybe just a minute a day and I log off
The best speaker that i have ever watchen on youtube platform and on social media in general , his words are convincing , straightforward, and heart-touching.
I had a few people get mad At me because i don’t have a Snapchat or fb and call me lame. I told them i may have something you don’t have. They said what? I said Facebook and Snapchat stocks. Although i dont use the app i have shares. They quietly shut the f up. No response then. I laughed 😂. Told them to stop living society’s life
Davelle Johnson this is awesome!
Davelle Johnson Snapchat stock sucks. I have Facebook and Netflix stock. I also have Microsoft and a few amazon. But I have none of these apps.
I've been learning that it is wise to invest. How do you exactly make money with stocks? When I graduate college I want to be smart with money, and I keep on hearing from successful people that you should make your money work for you. But, I come from a poverty line family background and I want my money to work for me when I start making it. I wanna invest. Any good books that you recommend? Thank you.
