      The CPU and GPU temperatures are almost perfect. However, the chipset chip located close to the GPU gets too hot, causing the case fan to become super loud under heavy load. I think I’m going to add a small heatsink to the chipset chip and see how it improves. If you want to try it, be aware of this problem. However, this setup is suitable for a Home Theater PC (HTPC) for those who need a small, sleek, and powerful system that supports 4K or 8K TV.

    • @ll_spud
      @ll_spud 3 місяці тому

      Yes that's what I'm using mine for a htpc. Yes. Let me know how u go with the chipset heatsink. I also saw someone 3d print a mini fan inside their case to go under the network card. Its on thingiverse. It also had a shroud. Not sure if it will fit with the gpu as well. Might have to mod it. Have u seen it? I can't seem to post the website here.

      @itggear3400 my comment keeps getting deleted. Don't know why. Yes let me know how it goes with the heatsink. Also saw someone else 3d print a small blower fan in their lenovo. Not sure it it will fit under the gpu. I can't post the link here. Keeps getting deleted

    • @A.A6r3u

      @@itggearthis GPU position blows air into the heatsink and from there going hot into the case, would venting the side panels like you did for the top help with this? Prob with CPU temp as well since the blower is pulling hot within the case too.

    • @itggear
      @itggear  3 місяці тому +1

      @@A.A6r3u The MSI RTX 3050 LP 6G does not blow air into the case at all. The heatsink fins are straight, and the airflow is directed outside the case from both the front and the back. As you can see in the Afterburner graph, the GPU and CPU temperatures are not a concern.

    @ITG Gear im supprised to see that not even the m920q has the second m2 connector i have a m720q 10t7 with a i5 9400t which im thinking of adding a gpu to tho the plan was a modded sparkle arc a380 or a a310. but i must say i like the idea of printing another shell for it so i might go for the 3050 if i can find a good price for it and later upgrade cpu to a i7 9700t or i9 9900t.also if you dont already know it you can unlock advanced bios settings and disable the max 35w cpu tdp so you can run non t cpus tho the extra heat would most likly be an issue in these smaller cases but with a good a compact thermal siphon system it should be possible i think tho not cheap. great video thanks for the idea
    cheers!

  • @J12RQ

    its me again, modify the case to have ventilkation to fix the issue with airflow with the modified gpu size
    edit: btw you can somehow use the extra space for a slightly taller cpu cooler for better temps

    • @itggear
      @itggear  2 місяці тому +1

      The CPU cooler uses three mounting screw holes, so a standard CPU cooler cannot be installed on this PC. The big issue when installing the GPU while using the 3D printed case is not the GPU or CPU temperature, but the VRM temperature and the motherboard's power delivery capability, which causes the CPU to throttle all the time. Thank you.

      @itggear  2 місяці тому +1

      It's also in my plan. I will create all kinds of content related to computer hardware. For ITX motherboards, we have plenty of ITX cases, ranging from very small to large. However, in this setup, I bought the whole tiny PC for just $120. Building an ITX gaming PC costs around $1000 or so. So, this video is about renovating an old PC to make it usable again, helping to save the world from being polluted by e-waste.

      Interesting. I’ve checked my 230W power adapter, and I noticed that it is about 20mm longer than the PC, which is 200mm long compared to the 180mm depth of the PC. I’m not sure if smaller watt AC adapters like 135W or 180W could be smaller than this. I was thinking of putting the PC into a mini ITX case like the A1P or SKT A9, but I’m struggling with the fact that I still need to put the power plug tip outside the PC case and plug it into the PC’s DC input. Maybe we could solder the wires directly to the board, but I don’t have the skills to do so.

    • @itggear
      @itggear  3 місяці тому +2

      I think it can work. However, be aware that the durability of 3D printed material is relatively weak. It would be more practical to use an ITX case like the A1P or SKTC A9, which support a flex PSU and a full-height GPU. These cases are nearly the same size as this PC, just a bit thicker. We could put this tiny PC and its power brick into one of those cases and design an I/O shield for it, or we could install a standard ITX motherboard. There are a lot of fun possibilities to explore.

    does it need to be 230 watts? or what's the minimum watts it can safely run?

    • @itggear
      @itggear  3 місяці тому

      The Lenovo M920q board is designed for a 135W charger. However, some users report throttling when using a smaller power supply. Therefore, a higher wattage AC adapter could ensure power stability and longevity, even if the system does not consume all the wattage from that adapter. Thank you.

      @@Seajay2016 Yes, it is a higher version of that series. However, if you don’t own one yet and manage to get one, I recommend the Lenovo M920X or Lenovo P330 Tiny. All these tiny PCs are from the same series and can share parts with each other. They also have the same chassis, but the Lenovo M920X and Lenovo P330 Tiny support a 65W CPU and a 50W GPU when paired with a 35W CPU right out of the box. Thank you.

    • @itggear
      @itggear  3 місяці тому

      It won't fit with each other's design. Those files are designed for different purposes. The ThinhDora files are cleaner because they don't need too much ventilation, and they're smaller-only 54mm in height, designed for the RTX A2000. This makes them easier and faster to print. My file contains ventilation on all sides to work with an open-air GPU and is designed to work with the original GPU bracket. The case height is 65mm, which is 11mm thicker than the original to fit the MSI RTX 3050 LP 6GB, which is 42mm thick instead of the 36mm thickness of the RTX A2000. So, you cannot use a combination of these designed files.
