I think we can use Dell Optiplex Micro models like the Dell 3050, 3060, and 3070 Micro to install a GPU like the RTX 3050 LP, RTX A2000, or even the RTX 4060 LP. However, the process and method to achieve this are complex and difficult to follow. The Dell Optiplex Micro series do not have PCIe slots, but we can use an M.2 to PCIe x16 adapter to install the GPU over the M.2 slot. This way, we will sacrifice the M.2 SSD and only use a 2.5 SATA. Since the Dell Optiplex series have no PCIe slots, we cannot use any power from the PC itself. To overcome this problem, we need to use a Pico PSU board to power the GPU. Also, we need to design a 3D enclosure for the PC, and it must be significantly thicker than the original size. As I measured, it will be 80mm thick, making the total volume of this micro PC up to 2.6L. The overall result might not be worth it for everyone since the size is bigger. However, we can buy the Dell Optiplex 3050 Micro for an extremely cheap price of just around $50, so it would be fun to try it.

In fact, the M920q and M720q don't support GPUs by default, and I showed how to do it in this video. If you're looking for a Lenovo Tiny PC in this series that supports GPUs, please take a look at the P330 Tiny or M920X. These two models can support up to a 50W GPU when paired with a 35W CPU. It is possible to install the RX550 LP with its bracket. However, you might not be able to close the lid completely since the bracket will take up some space at the back where the top cover hinge goes through. Thank you.
Yes, it is possible. Many people use this PC as a fast network device by installing a 10G NIC PCIe card, so you can definitely install a PCIe sound card to upgrade the sound output.
Smooth 3D prints depend on printer ability, slice settings, and filament quality. Some materials need precisely correct values for nozzle temperature, bed temperature, travel speed, print speed, and extrusion speed to achieve better results. The print speed and temperature should be labeled on the filament spool. Thank you.
The price of the GPU may vary by seller and region. It's hard to currently find this GPU at that price. However, some people report that they can find the RX6400 HP OEM card for just around $80 on eBay. Thank you.
One more comment I completely forgot about. If you don't have a old CRT TV. HDTV still except analog signals even tho analog is dead. So if you only got a HDTV. You can use Custom Resolution Utility to get 144.94HZ and a HDMI to RF modulator to take advantage of Losses Scaling.😅

@@faystoface3134 If you're looking for a Lenovo Tiny PC with a PCIe slot, you should consider the ThinkStation Series instead of the IdeaCentre Series. The Lenovo M93p you mentioned also does not have a PCIe slot.
The performance is very similar, and ReBar support on these niche motherboards with rather unique bioses is iffy at best. If you have an A310 on hand it should perform similarly to this or a little bit better thanks to having more PCIe lanes to work with. The best card I can think to slot in here for a reasonable price is the RTX 3050 6GB that Yeston sells.
I NEED HELP - My Original 01AJ940 adapter arrived, I updated the BIOS, disabled ASPM Support, and it doesn't recognize my RTX 3050 6GB LP MSI, could you help me?, is there anything else that I didn't do that could be causing the GPU to not be recognized?
Make sure you plug the PCIe riser adapter in properly. First, you should set up the GPU freely without screwing it into the case or enclosure. Since the Lenovo PCIe riser is too short, it might not plug in securely. If the open-case setup works, then set the specific location of the GPU, making sure it is flat and straight. If you install the case and screw the GPU in but it is not detected again, you might need to adjust the 3D file to make it fit. Ensure it is installed without force or pressure because the 3D-printed file may shrink slightly due to heat. If none of the above works, you might need to check your PCIe riser to see if it is a genuine product or if it has any damage, and consider returning, refunding, or replacing it. Thank you.
In additon, Please right click on This PC icon and than Show more option for WIn11 and chose manage. Change the Display section if you see 2 dispaly adapter which are one is intel UHD graphics and one is Microsoft Display Adaptor you need to install the Nvidia app to install driver in order to connect display via GPU. Thank you.
@@itggear It doesn't recognize it in the device manager, and it doesn't show video via the GPU's HDMI, could it be a defect in the adapter? I buy it on Aliexpress as being original, tragic
You can simply diagnose the issue by installing another PCIe card, like a WiFi or LAN card. Also, please check the PCIe link speed in BIOS and set it to auto. The RTX 3050 is natively PCIe 4.0, so it might not negotiate correctly with the BIOS. Additionally, you can access the BIOS and load the factory defaults, then try again. I think a damaged PCIe riser is a rare case. If you need more assistance, I'm happy to help. Thank you.
@@itggear I have no words to thank you, after resetting the BIOS, everything is working perfectly, friend, you are a great friend, my deepest gratitude here straight from Brazil, you are the man!🙏 It was amazing, i5 8500t + 40GB DDR4 + 2TB M.2 + RTX 3050, it's a shame that I can't find an i7 9700T at an attractive price, for me to import it would cost R$ 1300+-
Not worth doing that with just an RX6400, todays APU like the 7840U or Strix Point are as fast as that. The RTX A2000 is the card to use in this build, either with the single slot heatsink mod or by 3d printing a slightly bigger top panel for the case
What an interesting project good work ❤ Can you test some emulation like batocera , retrobat and Xbox 360 and PS3 ? Also I was wondering if I can upgrade the CPU to a non T version like a i7 8700 / i7 9700 without any problems
Thank you for the kind words! Testing emulation like Batocera, Retrobat, Xbox 360, and PS3 sounds like a fantastic idea. I'll definitely look into it for a future video. As for the CPU upgrade, the Lenovo M920q does not support non-T Intel CPUs. For upgrading to a non-T version like the i7 8700 or i7 9700, you might want to consider the Lenovo M920x or P330 Tiny, which do support those CPUs.
@@itggear okey then I'll look for those models and pait it with an RTX 3050 LP and leave it without the cover for better airflow, thank you very much for your help
being compact is nice but i think theres not enough airflow and too close gpu almost touching components below is making heat problem. maybe design a small gap between gpu and other components, then slip in another small fan in between with holes at the side of case to blow out more hot air. the way i see the current design, some hot air are trapped inside causing the temp rise into 75C even when idle no game movement. . this problem often occure in thin laptop design. theres always a fight between performance and thin design, who gonna compromise is how the final design came out
A monitor with a high refresh rate and a program called Lossless Scaling will help. For example, if your monitor supports 120hz. With Losses Scaling frame generation. You can play the game in 120fps. The monitor literally does all the work. GPU's shouldn't be the focus anymore. Focus on a monitor with a high refresh rate. Old CRT monitors do great. Old tech but great for lossless scaling.
@itggear3400 It's recommend to use 30fps. A base of 30fps will give you the true feeling of high fps. Anything below 30 will feel like a slow motion of 60fps and higher. So try to play all your games in 30fps to play in 120fps or whatever your display refresh rate gives you. I'm using a CRT TV for smash Flash 2. The game itself is stuck at 30fps but I'm playing in 75fps because of the old TV with 75HZ. 👍
@itggear3400 I figured out something interesting today. Somehow my 60HZ TV is allowing 145HZ??? I used a program called "Custom Resolution Utility" to turn my TV into 144.94HZ it came out to be 145HZ and it's working. I'm using a HDMI to RF modulator to send my PC single to the TV. I'm wondering if it's because it's just using a RF cable and not a true HDMI cable. Meaning I'm converting HDMI HD into old analog RF cable. Somehow the TV is accepting the 145HZ 😁. Now I'm playing my 30fps PC games in 120fps because 30FPS times 4 is 120FPS. I'm not complaining. 👍 Try Custom Resolution Utility with a old TV and a modulator and get the most fps on weak PC.
That honeycomb case design is beautiful.

It won't fit. However, I also designed a bracket for your P340. Please check this video: ua-cam.com/video/91bqoSrSMMQ/v-deo.html
Thats my set up now lmao and im using the 100w adapter no probs at all
I have one of these with a Tesla P4. Pretty neat little guy. Sadly there are no 200w+ lenovo power brick at my local space.
RX 6400 will perform worse on i5-8500t as it does not support Smart access memory? How does it compare with supported and unsupported cpu, especially the ryzen 2400g? please make a comparison video with 2400g with rx6400..
Hello ITG Gear , can I do the same mod with the Lenovo M910Q?
The Lenovo M910q does not have a PCIe slot.
@@itggear Thank You
Will a regular low profile bracket on my rx 550 fit
It is possible to install the RX550 LP with its bracket. However, you might not be able to close the lid completely since the bracket will take up some space at the back where the top cover hinge goes through. Thank you.
How would one go about installing a sound card on this device or upgrading the sound output ?
Yes, it is possible. Many people use this PC as a fast network device by installing a 10G NIC PCIe card, so you can definitely install a PCIe sound card to upgrade the sound output.
@itggear fantastic. Thanks for the tip
Avesome case🤩
time for a Yeston 3060 LP
Can you upgrade the processor to a non-T series?
This model don't support non-T CPU.
"Great! The BD-PROCHOT throttling is gone!"
>still visibly checkmarked
That Case is awsome! Can you make it for the RTx a2000 ?
Another UA-camr has shared the 3D case model file for this PC and the RTX A2000. Please check the video description for more details.
@@itggeari now but it’s not like yours. This one you can use the slide mechanism. All the other cases you have to usw screws
how can i buy this type of gpu plz help me
can i use the original faceplate with your cover?
The front bezel is not removable. That's why I designed both the front and the top.
@itggear3400 alright thx you, one last question, to get the smoothest finish, what material should I 3D print with.
Smooth 3D prints depend on printer ability, slice settings, and filament quality. Some materials need precisely correct values for nozzle temperature, bed temperature, travel speed, print speed, and extrusion speed to achieve better results. The print speed and temperature should be labeled on the filament spool. Thank you.
@itggear3400 I plan to use pcbway to print it for me
I like this guy....
Can the power withstand it?
Max 135W
I was just about to comment if you could put a rx6400 in another video but i guess you already have the video
How did you find a $100 rx 6400? In my country the rx6400 is the same price as the rtx 3050(est $200).
The price of the GPU may vary by seller and region. It's hard to currently find this GPU at that price. However, some people report that they can find the RX6400 HP OEM card for just around $80 on eBay. Thank you.
Bro you and eta prime are the same guy i caught you 😅
is heat sink really needed?
Yes, it is needed to keep the chipset cool. Thank you.
One more comment I completely forgot about. If you don't have a old CRT TV. HDTV still except analog signals even tho analog is dead. So if you only got a HDTV. You can use Custom Resolution Utility to get 144.94HZ and a HDMI to RF modulator to take advantage of Losses Scaling.😅
stylish good work
Why not you sell these custom build pc online , me too wanna buy this
Hi, great video !! What do you think about m715q (amd a6-8570e) m93p (i5 4570t) and m910q (i5 6500T) for same modification with rx 6400 ? Thanks for your reply
Lenovo M715q and Lenovo m910q do not have PCIe slot. Thank you.
Oh okk thank you very much @@itggear
and what about m93p ?
@@faystoface3134 If you're looking for a Lenovo Tiny PC with a PCIe slot, you should consider the ThinkStation Series instead of the IdeaCentre Series. The Lenovo M93p you mentioned also does not have a PCIe slot.
@@itggear thanks à lot
Wouldnt an arc 310 better?
The performance is very similar, and ReBar support on these niche motherboards with rather unique bioses is iffy at best. If you have an A310 on hand it should perform similarly to this or a little bit better thanks to having more PCIe lanes to work with. The best card I can think to slot in here for a reasonable price is the RTX 3050 6GB that Yeston sells.
Next week is my birthday give me this as a gift ❤
Thank you.

I have no words to thank you, after resetting the BIOS, everything is working perfectly, friend, you are a great friend, my deepest gratitude here straight from Brazil, you are the man!🙏
It was amazing, i5 8500t + 40GB DDR4 + 2TB M.2 + RTX 3050, it's a shame that I can't find an i7 9700T at an attractive price, for me to import it would cost R$ 1300+-
What do people without 3d printing do
Not worth doing that with just an RX6400, todays APU like the 7840U or Strix Point are as fast as that. The RTX A2000 is the card to use in this build, either with the single slot heatsink mod or by 3d printing a slightly bigger top panel for the case
Thanks for the feedback! My goal was to bring this idea to life. 😊
Have u seen his other video with the 3d printed top panel?
How come it looks like a Black Wii?
i wonder how it'd fare with an rtx a1000 instead
What an interesting project good work ❤
Can you test some emulation like batocera , retrobat and Xbox 360 and PS3 ? Also I was wondering if I can upgrade the CPU to a non T version like a i7 8700 / i7 9700 without any problems
Yes u can. It will work but it will get hot & loud inside. You can upgrade the cpu to a copper heatsink which came with the high end models
❤❤❤❤
I think the challenger series arc gpus from asrock could maybe fit in a case this small. Nooot entirely sure though.
thought of the same, but i don't know if the BIOS on these PC's have Resizable BAR which is a must for INTEL GPU's
Great build. But why you use so dramatic and sad music :(
I just picked a track that is over 10 minutes long from the UA-cam Audio Library. Can you suggest some?
Total price bro
$120 for PC and $100 for GPU.
Esto es un ordenador portátil digno
Give those parts a better lid they are at high 70's (make a cover that is fully ventilated at the top)
being compact is nice but i think theres not enough airflow and too close gpu almost touching components below is making heat problem. maybe design a small gap between gpu and other components, then slip in another small fan in between with holes at the side of case to blow out more hot air. the way i see the current design, some hot air are trapped inside causing the temp rise into 75C even when idle no game movement.
.
this problem often occure in thin laptop design. theres always a fight between performance and thin design, who gonna compromise is how the final design came out
Thanks for your input! The RX 6400 has heat issues due to its small fan, even in open-air setups. Appreciate your insights!
Can I have it?
it is good for my little brother
A monitor with a high refresh rate and a program called Lossless Scaling will help. For example, if your monitor supports 120hz. With Losses Scaling frame generation. You can play the game in 120fps. The monitor literally does all the work. GPU's shouldn't be the focus anymore. Focus on a monitor with a high refresh rate. Old CRT monitors do great. Old tech but great for lossless scaling.
hank you for your suggestion. I will try it next time.
