The good years... But for the Inner Sphere only, at the cost of the Periphery. Alas, Star League was doomed to fall from the start - Amaris only accelerated it.
Absolutely. I'd argue that the Star League was mostly just the dying throws of Terran Imperialism, with some peripheral benefits for people who bought in early, but they were short term only.
Hey dude thanks for the video. I do want to point out some of your cadence while speaking can be pretty jarring. You very loudly say "and" multiple times across videos that breaks the structure of your narrative/monologue. There's a large difference in volume while listening to your videos that when you emphasize words like that. Otherwise I really enjoy your vids. Thank you!
Imagine if the star league didn't fall if only Alexander Kerensky just said yes and take control of it, they would reach technological achievement at an astonishing rate and help expand the inner sphere, and bring peace to the entire galaxy. PLEASE DO THE......SUCCESSION WARS.......all of them.
I think that the Star League was finished, there was no way it was going to hold together even without Cameron's death. It'd just be a longer, bloodier affair to end.
Then we would have to have Ming The Merciless in a bib ruling the Inner Sphere and the Rimworld's Republic. I think Kerensky did the right thing by saying No.
What would be the drive for that technological achievement? The main drivers in technological advancement history have been wars or competition between states. Now, I will grant you that economic advancement would most likely be much better, but even that could be argued either way, based upon the social stagnation that could result from such an overly powerful superstate, not beholden to its citizens but to the support of the military (see Roman Empire for a good historical example).
@@Katzbalger001 I added the line that the economic development would be uneven just due to that. Sadly, the sourcebook is vague on what advanced it beyond saying "hey, barriers were removed and people and ideas were free to flow", its a very utopian vision as to why people would advance. So I agree with you, I'm just following what they're saying. Though I will say later on, paranoia on behalf of House Cameron drove them to spend endless moneys on new weapons and such out of fear of being usurped.
If Aleksandr Kerensky just said "yes"? Aleksandr didn't get the chance to say yes, he was stripped of his title and told to sit around while someone else was made First Lord, and he left because he saw the writing on the wall. What, honestly, could the SLDF have really achieved when it had no political power other than that at the end of a gun barrel?
I do intend to do extensive coverage of the Succession Wars. I've already done some mech overviews for the Succession Wars, I intend to do individual mech videos, as well as houses, as well as house forces, as well as era overviews. That's the plan.
Great vid :-) the problem with the star league was the hereditary rule....things that pass through the family are only 1 idiot away from complete failure....proved by their destruction...helped make the inner sphere great and led to its worst times double edged sword to say the least :-)
@@BigRed40TECH I understand that :-) its just the star league was held together by great people under the cammarons rather than the cammarons themselves :-) it was the believers that kept it afloat for so long but they were powerless when a single idiot listened to a megalomaniac over those that served the league...it was doomed from birth due to the structure and why blood names were embraced by the clans....you get the best to lead (hopefully) and they take the name rather than just get the next in line and hope theyre not a Joffrey :-)

This is why I'm a Combine player - love 'em or hate 'em, they're so often the faction that really moves the story forward.
Ah the good old days when the inners oppressed the periphery and ALL THE GOOD TOYS WERE MADE
Your best lore vid yet
Thank you!

All just laid the way for the clans baby!
Once again another video to watch after work
I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance.
A really fantastic episode mate.
Thanks! :D

You should find later videos fix this. This was recorded with my old audio, both physical and digital, setup. newer stuff is better.

This will suffice while we collectively wait with bated breath for the TTB Warhammer documentary.

The Star League was born through heridery rule, sadly. It's apart of the setting. It's amazing lol
