Finally a bunch of writers who unlike GW's actually understand how army organisation works... this series is so good i am actually tempted to present them as source material to Battleorder channel... he's a real world army organisational expert, but I'm sure with this quality he will be hooked really easy...
While the. SLDF was the most technologically advanced, best equipped, most motivated , and supported by the people; having to have them as a UN peacekeeping and police force only shows how flawed the Star League was.
When I first read about the star league defense Force it was a very first thing that got me into BattleTech it's lore And epic battles drew me in like a moth on an open flame Plus how they first started it had so much talent behind it Until its eventual fall
They had the best of the best and spawned both opponents at the battle of Tukayyid through one way or another. The setting wouldn't be what it is without house Cameron and their Terran regiments.
@@GrimDarkNarrator I don't know if you follow Sven van der plank, but he has some massive videos on the BT history; ( He's doing the First Succession War right now) and the Battle Order for the SLDF during just the Reunification War took up a whole 30 minute video. (You don't even want to look at the Civil War).
OoOoOohh, the superstars of the Super Bowl based around FASA's futuristic, finely formed Earth.. SLDF regional generals were “consummate diplomats and politicians as well”? How nightmarishly Fantastic. Whoa-ho, the Star League's armor, its tanks, looked cool! More refined than the permanent warfare of 40k's Imperium societies resulted in. “Demon” tanks, on Earth?...hmm. Is the Cobra sigul shown here actually meant for the Cobra VTOL? Royal-graded 'Mechs and aerospace wings certainly seem to be elite and uniquely apart from other states' forces covered in this series thus far. Perhaps in all BattleTech history. Additional views of BattleTech space warships also thankfully go further towards quenching a thirst for such spacecraft coverage. Respect to the majority of the enlisted who choose infantry; wanting to have their “boots on the ground, in the fight, instead of flying overhead of it”. Or towering above, in a giant metal body. The “Jump” regiment type is also distinctive and sparks the campaign/story imagination. Plus, I think all of the troops' uniforms pictured looked very sleek, advanced and probably the most stylishly-cool looking of any faction. The heavy-looking dude seen after 17:37 (!) could be from out of Aliens or Starship Troopers (Roughnecks). A military's video packed with enough fun, that we'll need more than one. The extended features on the non-'Mech flying and ground vehicular divisions of the SLDF were definitely appreciated, Narrator. I believe that a major lifelong reason for the SLDF's success was also its general decentralization of control and command. Necessary for a superstate's longevity. This was a very well-rounded, very extensive video on a very impressive historical state's major military organization, GDN. And, but part one of two, by Lord Cameron! A trove of lore info. Greater gratitude, then, for this video and its sequel to come. This may have piqued my interest the most, of this series, yet. Until your next sign-on from the BattleTech galaxy, GDN, have a healthy and awesome week.
I had to actually go in 6:15 of the video to see and there it was Mike cobraaaa must have been in one of my sleepy Haze to let That get past me and that cartoon of roughnecks oh boy when I first heard about coming to television I was wondering how that was going to play out knowing what kind of a movie it was and you know what I mean Watching Breckenridge head go off in Practice was brutal of course they had no handrails or wall barriers To hide behind during practice does Ask questions 🤔 Hmm
thank you for spelling out the forces organization of the SLDF. IMO - too many people focus on the end of the 3rd succession war (3025) and don't really have a clue to the size and scope that was the SLDF. while the 250 years (2786-3020) of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd succession wars was devastating to the worlds of the innersphere, most people don't realize that the bulk of the wars (3rd succession war, 175 years) was mostly fought by mercenary units. most house units were held in reserve and strengthened as the houses rebuilt the infrastructure on damaged worlds. thus, when the 4th succession war takes place (3028), the house units were put into service and massive amounts of units from Steiner and Davion took the most planets since before the 1st succession war. people can play in the 'stone-age/mad max' version of battletech if they like, but it's not really accurate.

Really enjoy the long format! Great job.

I actually read about the SLDF a lot later than the other house militaries.

Your tackleing the SLDF? Ambitious my friend, very ambitious. Can't wait for part 2.
Maybe too ambitious, lol. I could probably make a video on each their armies and their commanders.

You left out that Royal units soldiers were only recruited from the terran hegemony for their complete loyalty
