Wow...a lot of 1959s on this post, me included. I'm just struck by how good the vocals were by these talented musicians...spot on and just beautiful. Well done, Ambrosia...and great name choice too.
This live performance shows that Ambrosia was not just a studio band. The vocals are just outstanding, along with the music. My older sister bought this album (and many others), and introduced me and my younger siblings to some of the best music every written. Ambrosia was so underrated. Bravo! Bravo!
Best music ever.. and not just because it's what I grew up with.. many are still around and 'kids' are getting into it. Ambrosia was a great band along with so many others.. talented musicians and composers with a message (maybe had something to do with coming out of the war).
Me three! We had so much variety..rock, southern rock, hard Rock, folk, r&b, disco..Great outfits too. I am 62..married 35 years and I put on this music and I am back at boarding school listening to my little radio!! My old bones may not move anymore but my memories are priceless!!

Grew up listening to this group in the 70’s and like most took this music for granted. Only in my 60’s do I realize that this was the best decade of music.

They were the so full of great rock and the best times ever!! Thanks for taking us back!! God Bless and stay safe
I agree. My first 3 concerts… Jethro Tull Thick as a brick tour 72 Black Sabbath Sabbath Bloody Sabbath tour & Deep Purple Burn tour with then unknown singer David Coverdale in 74. No backing tracks no auto tune no lypsyncing. As a musician myself couldn’t beat the 70s….except disco lol.
I hope you held onto him. Because I let the girl of my dreams slip away in the early 90s and have regretted it ever since. Thankfully I found someone who I love and who loves me and gave me two of the greatest children in the world. Sometimes I let my failures bring me down and then I realize what a lucky man I've been
I'm 62 and I still listen to Ambrosia often. I think of all the young men in the 70s who could write such romantic songs, play an instrument well, sing and harmonize so beautifully in an era when our gen of music was seen by the older generation as rebellious and not a real job, with no future. How grateful I am that these gorgeous guys followed their passion and gave the rest of us a plethora of musical medicine to enjoy for life.
Very Well Said and I’m thoroughly enjoying them too; it’s fun to go back and reminisce! Love the long hair~sideburns and clothes too, sexy talented men whew! 👌♥️
I was 17 in 1976, Now I'll be 65 in a couple of weeks and I was just approved for Medicare and Social Security. This song reminds me of being 17 again and being with my girlfriend at the time. 10 bucks an ounce. You were getting a good deal. 15 bucks an ounce in St. Louis in the mid 1970s. I recall when a friend stopped by with some Colombian, 35 bucks an ounce! we were shocked at the price. My first time smoking that stuff and I wasn't disappointed! All I could do afterwards was... Today is 7/14/23. This is my favorite Ambrosia song since I was 16 back in 75-76. Gives me chills every time I hear it. Happy Birthday tomorrow David. Hope all is well for you @x0539p.
I was very early teens when this came out, and have loved this song ever since..., along with MANY others by them. Got to see them 17/18/19 years ago minus David Pack, and it was a great show. They came out after the show & did a little meet & greet with those of us who stuck around. VERY nice guys, and got to take several pics with them.
@Karen Reardon I love pretty much everything Ambrosia wrote and performed. This song is one of my favorites. But I'm a huge fan of Life Beyond L.A. as well. I'm almost 70 and I DO keep holding on to yesterday because of music like this. David, Joe, Burleigh, Christopher...thank you SO much. Your first album, the album this song came from, is still my favorite of all you've done.
Took Ambrosia's first album along on a road trip this month. Just a great record. This live version of Holding on to Yesterday from that album shows that the band's musical chops and especially their vocal blending and skill were not studio trickery but real and repeatable on stage. Truly they were underrated.

THIS was one of my favorite songs back then when it first came out. It’s STILL one of my all-time favorite songs! “Holdin’ On To Yesterday” is a TIMELESS MASTERPIECE. And David Pack, one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th Century.
I just listened to the studio version for the first time since this came out and saw this. I'm astounded at how well they pull this off live. The vocals are spot on.
Wow, captured live on my 4TH BIRTHDAY and now it’s getting me through some hella tough heartbreak… ❤️🩹 🎶 Grateful for timeless masterpieces like this.
I close my eyes as I listen to this song....and I'm transported back in time to my first love... I am lost again in the feeling.... back to a happier time... When life was so much kinder, sweeter, simpler. Well, it was purely magical back then...Let me tell you... and our love was real. What happened... I'm transported back to better days.
This song and Ambrosia's performance of it is as beautiful as it ever was. But as I get older it gains more and more resonance. Eventually it will crush me.
Not often that the lead guitarist is also the lead singer and he was playing the Hammond as well! I’ve loved this group and this song from the beginning.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. We used to slow dance to this outstanding beautiful song at parties and at Prom in high school in the late 70s. How lucky we were.
I agree, I keep holding on to yesterday, of the friends and family who have passed. This song is like going into a time machine when my brother, sister, Mom, Dad, cousins, Grandma and friends were still living and how I took that time with them for granted. Love and spend as much time with those you still have, don't take anything for granted.
Ambrosia is unequalled in their execution and uniqueness of the many mega hits they had. They were able to capture emotion and turn it into music! No doubt we will always be in amazement of the Gravity of their enduring accomplishments in the realm of our collective musical conciousness!
The seventies were the height of musical talent in vocals and musicianship and record labels for the most part allowed groups to produce amazing music. Hits were important of course and expected but just look at the huge number of hit songs from then that still hold up today.
Absolutely love this old grainy video! Just as I remember being in a HS gymnasium on a Friday night listening to some band that would later go on to hit stardom
I was six when this song came out and I just could listen to over and my favorite song of this group I came across it in the last couple months I could listen to it over it’s such a good jam awesome tune

There must be a healthy way to keep, or preserve him, A.I.
No auto tune either. The bands really had to bring it back then or they didn’t last long.
It is called talent. Something that is forgotten today.
I seen saw them in Kent State auditorium in like 75 or 76 and I was born in 62 ? They opened for Santana ! It was a great show!
What a song great
These years were the best in my life......with awesome music like this!!!!
We had no idea how good we had it.. sigh.
When you live it, you don't notice how great things were, until a look back from the future.
My ex husband passed away but this was our song.
🙏❤️
I'm a 80s kid man and my job plays this song from a playlist and I liked it ever since
This is straight up Blues, brothers. The roots of Rock and Roll. Hammond organ rules!
David & Joey's voices are amazing together. blending with, not out-singing each other.
I know how feel. My first love still haunts me. He's passed away but I have not moved on
This song and Ambrosia's performance of it is as beautiful as it ever was. But as I get older it gains more and more resonance. Eventually it will crush me.
That's some hellacious guitar playing. I don't care who you are. Fabulous.
Not often that the lead guitarist is also the lead singer and he was playing the Hammond as well! I’ve loved this group and this song from the beginning.
My life sucks since my beautiful husband passed away 2024.
I miss him so much!
So sorry for your loss - may happy memories of your husband and the passage time comfort you
48 years and it still sounds great.
I saw these guys open up for Supertramp on their crime of the century tour ambrosia played their entire debut album it was one of the best shows I've ever seen I'm very proud to be able to say that yes I did see that it was awesome
This is a difficult song to perform live. I think they nailed it! Bravo👍
Agreed!
So many bands of the era were kickass on stage. Until studios went full retard with engineering everything including voices.
@@kaydee4296 Absolutely! What used to be Actual ... is now Virtual. Like, Almost music. Almost talented. Even now, Autonomous Intelligence (ai) does alot. I don't care for it very much.
This versions intro with keyboards is fire…
Wow they were are so good
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. We used to slow dance to this outstanding beautiful song at parties and at Prom in high school in the late 70s. How lucky we were.

I keep holding on to yesterday but time still goes on this song is a memory Maker.😢
I'll never tire hearing Pack's clear, soothing, soulful voice and guitar playing...
I regret never being able to see Ambrosia in concert.... :))
I still love this band. Such sweet harmony 💕
David Pack is one of the finest guitar players and has been grossly overlooked in that category.
So true ... how he didn't become a bigger household name is beyond me 😢❤😢
love it so many great memories come back to my mind !!!
Good one. puerta is Ambrosia. Then, and now. He's a genius.
I'm listening in 2024 excellent song lots of memories❤❤❤
Hola me atrevo a decir q fue una de las super canciones de ambrosía.tenia catorce años el tiempo paso 😢
I'm with ya 100% Jamie Ashby. We'll just keep holdin on to our great music of yester years.
I agree. Awesome voice and gorgeous music. Definitely music from the past so much better than today. 🎶🎹
I can’t believe this is Ambrosia! Same band that played How much I feel?
Sure is ❤❤❤
Ambrosia is unequalled in their execution and uniqueness of the many mega hits they had. They were able to capture emotion and turn it into music! No doubt we will always be in amazement of the Gravity of their enduring accomplishments in the realm of our collective musical conciousness!
I keep holding on but yesterday keeps slipping further and further away.makes me sad that people can't experience the joy these years held anymore
The seventies were the height of musical talent in vocals and musicianship and record labels for the most part allowed groups to produce amazing music.
Hits were important of course and expected but just look at the huge number of hit songs from then that still hold up today.
Started in the 60’s, then 🚀!!
Absolutely love this old grainy video!
Just as I remember being in a HS gymnasium on a Friday night
listening to some band that would later go on to hit stardom
I’m jamming to this in 2024
Just a little shy of 45 years later, the songs still hold up.
Glad to have this Great Classic Live Ambrosia song back on UA-cam from December 1976.
Absolutely ❤️
I was six when this song came out and I just could listen to over and my favorite song of this group I came across it in the last couple months I could listen to it over it’s such a good jam awesome tune
3 years out of high school and enjoying life. Listening to some of the greatest music
This was (very) early in the bands history!
...David must had been about 21, the youngest I believe of the band.
Loved the song back in the day. Still do.
Ahhhhhhhhh yes, once again-------------the 70's live on & on, 4-Ever ! We'll never see a decade like the 70's, ever again. -Makes me sad to know that, but I'm so grateful I was there ! ----------MJL, 77 y/o
Such a great song. David Packs
voice was insane.
