That’s probably very subjective. No expense spared could be a million dollar or more home theater. Really depends on what your needs are. Are you in the US?
@Youthman Yes in the Chicagoland area. I understand. I just hope I can get a good value for the money. It's not posted on every video of how much a certain setup costs. Appreciate your input.
Nice review, however I'm pretty sure the atmos switch is only to be used if they are actually doing ceiling reflection, just mounting them on the wall the AVR will give them the sounds required where the sound is in 3D space.
I’m running a very similar setup. Using 4 rp-280f’s for the front and rear. Rp-450 c front, rp 250s for the side surround, 4 rp-140sa’s for the height channels. And the two r-115 sw’s. Have been using it for almost two years now. Absolutely love it. Have them running through a denon 6300h. Movies, music sound amazing. I highly recommend it if you have the room for them. Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I'm just confused at 5:41 where you mention you have the "Dolby Atmos Rear Surround installed as height Atmos speakers." Just for clarification, are you installing them as rear surround and connecting them to rear surround connections on the AV receiver with Atmos enabled (or Surround enabled) or are you installing them as height speakers and connecting them to height connections on the AV receiver with Atmos enabled? Also, could you switch out the 502S you installed on the Left and Right Surround with the RP-500 SA, and would you set them as Surround or Atmos if you did so?
Where does this end? 12.9 channels? 24.2 channels? 100.79 Artificial ATMOS Channels? Real Scene Fan controls? VR Artificial scent Dispenser ATMOS? Vibration Reality Control Floor Panels? Hydraulic Computer Control Tilt Room??? How far is this going to go? 1,000.7 CHANNELS?
I have my 500SA mounted as FH/RH but I turned off the Atmos voodoo crossover and have the switch set to surround. I thought you are only supposed to leave it on if upfiring atmos. I did the helicopter Atmos demo with the disc and with it set to surround and it sounded like the helicopter was circling above me.
You are correct Lawrence. The manual isn’t very clear but we had some discussion / debate in one of the Klipsch Facebook groups so I reached out to Klipsch and the Product Manager said they are updating their documentation to make it more clear that the only time you should use Atmos switch is if you are upfiring and bouncing the sound off of the ceiling. Wall mounted Atmos should be set to surround
Youthman thanks for the reply. I ended up coming to my own conclusion because the whole reason I bought this version was to turn off the Atmos crossover. My thinking was that if I would’ve had regular bookshelves (or ceiling for that matter), they wouldn’t come with Atmos crossover as they’re already up high and no need to simulate(which I have tried with poor results with 8ft flat ceilings). Thanks for all the hard work with your videos!
Youthman also yes the documentation was not clear so I’m glad you reached out to them to address it to help other people who may be confused or not know better.
Well I am building a full Klipsch, set up, but I will be coming with 1 center rc-64 iii, 2 front left and right( being the Klipsch rf-7 iii), with 2 pairs of bookshelf’s, and 2 pairs of side surrounds, though I will probably only use about 3 sets of those, meaning I will either have 2 pairs of surrounds and 1 pair of bookshelf’s, or 2 bookshelf pairs (rp-600M) and 1 pair of surrounds rp-502S), and then a 6 in ceiling Atmos set up, but I will have to test it out, once we get the room set up. Which will probably take until early next year.
Man the new Klipsch rp line looks sweet!! I have several along with a 4 Svs speakers in my bedroom. Love to listen to music in surround mode. My favorite are the klipsch rp center channel, so powerful and clear.
Great video. Very informative. One question I’ve always wanted to ask you and I’m sure a lot of people have always wondered, like in this case Klipsch has provided you with speakers for you to review now after your review is done do you ship them back to them or do they let you keep them?? I hope it’s not too much of a personal question. I hope they let you keep them LOL
That’s a great question. Most companies give us 60-90 Day Review period, and then they pay to have it shipped back. I can typically purchase the item at the end of the review at a discounted rate simply because they would rather not have to pay to ship it back to them and they don’t want to have to try and sell it used. There are times that I really liked the product and have worked out brand deals to make additional videos on the product beyond the review in order to keep the product.
You are amazing man ! Bad that we are so far away from each other , Belgium is far far faaaar away .. you have a nice theater man ! Great channel and tips and tricks!! Keep going 😬😬👍👍👍
No doubt it was a pain in thee arse getting the lighting for recording right, but sure makes a difference in your video, and looks awesome with the lights down. 👍🏻👍🏻😀
Thank you. Honestly I’m pretty new to lighting. I didn’t realize I was supposed to turn off my main lights and only use my Soft Box. Now I need to buy a few more.
Absolutely nothing wrong with a solid 5.1. I have always said that an improper 7.1 is not going to sound as good as a properly set up 5.1 sometimes less is definitely more.
That is a heck of a setup there! I would love towers for the rear surrounds too lol! I know it's not permanent, but you'd really get some good sound and dynamics back there with those. Very good job explaining how to get it all setup too. I'm still jelly of that screen setup man lol
As part of this configuration find that the Klipsch r28fs either Atmos or straightforward are extraordinarily fine speakers for this sort of setup front or rear position
Ah... only use the Atmos if you are using them as upfiring speakers. If you have them mounted to the wall, as height elevation or Atmos speakers, use the surround setting.
Youthman you have surround back and surround front. But to get the full effect of something going around you, to hear it front, sides and back. What do you use on the connections for the sides, there’s no surround side. Sorry I’m learning all this.
Lucky you. I have a very scaled down version of a 7.1 configuration. I didn’t learn much from this video because there is no way I could ever get such huge speakers that take up so much space.
What does the atmos/surround switch on the speakers do? I mean, why does the speaker need to have any switches to decide where you're pointing it?! Surely the amp/receiver decides how the speakers should be equalised etc
As a bassaholic audioholic and audiophile i do like both old school stereos and new school stereos and surround sound /hometheather systems and i gotta admit this is nice
9:40 The Technics SB-M1 speakers are the beast I ever seen in my whole life , my neighbors old man past away last month his daughter showed me 2 brand new Technics SB-M1 in the box never used or touched she inherited them from the old man who kept them in his bedroom closet all those years I wish I can buy them she want $4k for them which super good deal 😢
This is what I was looking for, not that I don't know how to setup speakers but because it's fun to watch someone build a surround home theater setup! Thanks Youthman! I'm rockin' a 7.2.2 Polk Audio surround setup rn with Dolby Atmos coming in the future, don't have the money to buy 9.2 channel receiver yet!
The demo sounded so good on a compressed 2 channel UA-cam feed listening through my $22 Walmart Bluetooth headphones. I'm not sure I need to upgrade my sound system.
You need to upgrade your headphones to the $33 ones and you would hear a difference. 😂 I completely agree that audio demos over the internet have little to no value other than possibly for entertainment. I just get a lot of requests for them
@@Youthman Haha. Yeah, it's too bad because UA-cam would be SSOOOO much better with legit audio. I have a 5.1 system with an old Denon powering some 15 yo B&Ws. Closing on a house in 16 days with a basement layout that'll finally give me a reason to upgrade. My first stop is Amazon and I saw a receiver with 11.2 capability and was like WTH?!?! and now I'm here watching you. Tech has changed, man!!
Is there music for set ups like this? I mean, especially trance music as example should be perfect for ceiling speakers as well to get in the middle of the music.
My bosses son had a set of these delivered to the workshop for his house before Christmas. I could not believe the price he told me they were 😲😲😲. Never heard of them till then. Now im seeing them everywhere
I have 5 ceiling speakers already installed & wired by the builder in my living room. What's the best way to deploy them? wo sacrifying any of them? Just use them as atmos? In an x.x.4 set up?
My guess is the front three speakers were used as an LCR. Definitely not ideal. I would check to see if the Twitter is Aimable. If they fire straight down, they may not do much good.
another thing I've noticed.. the 80Hz THX Crossover standard only seems to work when all the front stereo and surround speakers are all the same type ie bookshelf on stands or floorstanders. Otherwise go with the individual crossover setting if you're using a mix of floorstanders as stereo fronts, and bookshelf or bipole speakers as surround speakers.
I'm a newbie so a dumb question. I have the Klipsch towers with built in up-firing speakers. In the video I did not see how those were connected to the receiver given that they require 2 sets of speaker wires.
No problem Jim. On the back of the speaker there is a top set of binding posts (black and Red) and a bottom set (black and red connections). The top red and black would be connected to your Front Atmos or Front Height connection on your AVR. Let me know if you have any additional questions
Yeah, i got a Pioneer VSX 922K and thought that was awesome, cost me 100 GBP never managed to offord decent speakers, ended up blowing 4 sets of random speakers pouring smoke at full volume unbelivably powerfull, but ive never managed to harness it :( Id LOVE that system, the clarity and bass and theatre of the system must be unreal
Unfortunately if you ran your receiver still full volume, the receiver began to clip which caused the speakers to distort and distortion will easily blow a speaker. No matter how amazing your speakers are, if you turned your receiver to full volume, you would fry them too.
Did you not do any acoustic treatment? I haven't even made it one minute into the video, and all I know is I can hear your voice echoing off the walls like CRAZY.
The room has acoustic treatment and is very quite but not "DEAD". Prior, my room had a NASTY slap echo. Completely gone now. If your room doesn't have any reverb (echo), it will sound dull and lifeless as our natural surroundings have reverb. Here is a video on the acoustic treatment - ua-cam.com/video/zK1xAWaUirw/v-deo.html
Im getting this exact setup: 504C center, 8060FA (L/R), 502S for surrounds couples to a PC-2000 SVS Sub. The speakers will be set to small would the sub doing the heavy lifting. Would a Marantz SR7010 be enough to power all of this? Were you using a Marantz SR8012 in this video?
Awesome video dude... I have almost an identical setup but not a 150" projector screen just a 65" LG OLED which is perfect for the size of my entertainment room. Thanks for sharing your info, you speak very articulately. Thumbs way up!!!
@@Youthman Marantz is great... why the Monolith and not a Marantz power amp? I'm currently using a Yamaha TSR-7850 which is what Klipsch recommended for my system and I'm considering adding a power amp. I was thinking of going with the Marantz MM8077 7 channel because I want to add 2 tower rear surrounds to compliment my Klipsch RP-402S little guys. They sound great and my room is probably 40' x 30' approx so I'm not sure its necessary, but I'm the guy who likes to overdo everything to the max lol
This was an amazing guide, thank you! But I’ve been doing some research before starting my own setup and I found that most “affordable” AVRs can’t fully power more than two speakers without having to decrease the power for the rest of the setup. So for this setup is that Marantz really enough to power ALL of that? I’m just so confused on how I should choose my future AVR. For reference, my setup will probably be a 5.1.2 system.
@@Youthman about “affordable” AVRs not being able to power a HT setup. It is dependent on what AVR you’re using, if you have it as a pre-amp out so each speaker can have their own power amp, or whatever. The Marantz you have looks to me like what, the 7015? That’s a $3K(ish) reserved. That should be enough to powers something less sensitive like Klipsch.
If you re-read his comment, he stated they can’t “fully” power a system without decreasing the power to the other speakers. That is 100% true but not just for affordable AVR’s but also higher end AVR’s as well. The more speakers you add, the less wattage per speaker. You can certainly power an entire system with an AVR. You just can’t buy a 140wpc AVR and get anywhere near 140wpc when you have 5, 7, 9 or 11 speakers.
From what I understand you can use any(!) type of speaker for Atmos - so wonder why the klipsch RP-500SA have the atmos toggle switch? What does it do really *and how would that differ from using normal speakers for Atmos? Also curious if you can use rear presence speakers mounted high on the wall and aim them downwards along with a pair of surround back sitting lower and more centered on top of a book shelve on a Atmos setup? - Basically trying to setup a 11.2-channed 3D sound field
@@Youthman ok, but comparing this toggle and what it does to conventional speakers...? Since conventional speakers works just as well I wonder if this just is a sell, sell, sell gimmick ? Any comments on my rear presence etc setup? Thought that might work if I aim them down towards the listener(s)
Watched every single one of your home theater video. Love it. Question: if I wall mount the RP-500SA (Rear Atmos) do I need to flip the switch to surround at the back of the speaker?
I think ear will settle after some time from these speakers .. if you have 8 speaker like flowing places 1. Front Right top 2. Front Right bottom 3. Front left top 4. Front left bottom 5. Back right top 6. Back right bottom 7. Back left top 8 back left bottom 9. Subwoofer top 10 subwoofer bottom Such 3D sound system you can identify sound coming from and ear can’t settle down .. try this for thunder storm sound from top only and walk sound from bottom location
You should have the switch set to surround if you are mounting them on the wall.... The switch uses the Atmos crossover specifically used for optimizing the speaker for sound reflection. You would have much better response for your configuration. I have them with my Klipsch palladium setup Otherwise awesome video per usual
My Klipsch CDT-5800-C II in-ceiling have an attenuation switch for the tweeter but I don’t think it has to do with Dolby Atmos as much as sound preference
@@Youthman true those are used to adjust the highs a few db from normal to adjust for your environment... Like if it was a small room with lots of hard surfaces you might need to lower the highs a tad. Or for in walls if say you put them behind a screen that isn't perfectly acoustically transparent you can bump they highs up a couple db to try and even out the sound loss
I have two questions for you? Can you use 3-way stereo speakers as your front left and right speakers ( 12" woofers ). The second question is can you take RP 600m speakers put them on a Shelf 16 in from the ceiling and have a simular sound as the atmos speakers? The reason I'm asking is I only have one set of Atmos speakers and my amp has plenty of power to supply everything what should I buy a second set of Atmos speakers?
You can use any three speakers as LCR. You can use bookshelf speakers as height speakers. Just aim them towards your listening position. It won’t be exactly the same as having speakers directly above you but it will still give a good Atmos effect.
If you like those, I've made significant upgrades since 4 years ago when I made this video. You can see what I have currently behind the screen in this video - ua-cam.com/video/AubrsBu-2nU/v-deo.html
This is a well thought out system! Gotta admit though, I am a bit surprised that you chose a receiver over pre amp /power amp combo! A Marantz 8805 paired with a couple of ATI 52NC multi channel amps would have taken you to end-game status!
Surprised really? $4500 - AV8805 $2400 - AT528NC $. 800 - AT524NC ---------- $7700 vs. $3000 for the SR8012 At twice the cost, I would only hope it would reach end game status. I’m currently accepting donations if you want to contribute 😀
Youthman - lol! A Marantz 7705 (at $1800) would probably make it more palatable! But, I totally get it! You have an awesome system, bro! I wasn’t sure if you had decided on a receiver because of space constraints or if there were other reasons such as cost, complexity, aesthetics etc...
Also, my front three speakers are 104dB sensitivity so they can get EXTREMELY loud with very little wattage. The SR8012 has no problem reaching Reference levels in my system. I reviewed a Parasound A52+ and I heard very little difference between it and just using the receiver.
No, I don't have any size constraints. My cabinet has plenty of room and is on rails that can support up to 500lbs. I just can't justify spending $7700 on a preamp and amps when what I have currently is incredibly satisfying. Here is my Klipsch LaScala Trio setup - ua-cam.com/video/9rQxNd1Lf38/v-deo.html
Youthman - good point regarding your speaker sensitivity and price/performance trade offs. I love your cabinet’s rail system! I’m going to adapt that idea the next time my crew does a client build-out! One of my guys rocks the Para A52+ and they seem to lack headroom with his setup (at least at the volume that he drives them).

One question I’ve always wanted to ask you and I’m sure a lot of people have always wondered, like in this case Klipsch has provided you with speakers for you to review now after your review is done do you ship them back to them or do they let you keep them?? I hope it’s not too much of a personal question. I hope they let you keep them LOL
hi system already way better than this set
You can’t ask that!!! Lol
Most companies give reviewers the option to buy at some level of discount.
Youthman thank you. And keep the great videos coming buddy.

Thank you kindly.
Youthman 😂😂. Well it looks way better in my opinion. Maybe just one more soft box 😀👍🏻. Keep em coming. 👍🏻
@@Youthman you have one incredible awesome set up man i wish i could do that with mine. I bet that shakes the house
Thanks Duane and Kelley
That’s allot of bloody speakers.
Even after all these years I’m really happy with very high quality speakers and a bad ass receiver in 5.1.
K.I.S.S.
Wow 😨This professional sound system will surely blow up any home💃😎
Love from India 🤩❤❤
I am also an audiophile.
Thanks!

As part of this configuration find that the Klipsch r28fs either Atmos or straightforward are extraordinarily fine speakers for this sort of setup front or rear position
When you hooked up your side surround what setting in the back of the receiver did u use?
I’m not sure what your question is Brian. There aren’t any settings on the back of the receiver
Ah... only use the Atmos if you are using them as upfiring speakers.
I have two side surrounds and two back surrounds. This video tour of my setup will help - ua-cam.com/video/PBuHLgGkfV4/v-deo.html
Youthman thank you bud I appreciate it
Klipch my favourite home theater system sir
Any reason as to why they don't use XLR or some other balanced input?
Additional cost? Plus most people do not have sub outs as those typically are on Pre/Pro’s
I guess it will optimize the sound for a better performance
i miss the old klipsch that had the old black dust cover like the rf 7
i had the klipsch rc-3 ii
I never cared for the black dust caps myself.
What “demo” was that from?
Sicario
Youthman Thanks!
335i101 sicario. I wouldn’t say it’s a demo movie, but it definitely does have demo scenes.
What a sick setup they sent you
Yes, it was a very nice setup.
I would love to see my wife’s reaction when she walked in and I had all those speakers in our living room. 😂
Haha

Dang Youthman. It looks like Christmas came early to your house. 🙄
This is a great reference material for me as I ultimately hope to get to 7.2.4. 👍🏾
It’s certainly been fun to play with.
That’s awesome! Just build it slow and steady and enjoy the journey along the way
Nice but I was hoping for a longer demo.
The demo sounded so good on a compressed 2 channel UA-cam feed listening through my $22 Walmart Bluetooth headphones. I'm not sure I need to upgrade my sound system.
You need to upgrade your headphones to the $33 ones and you would hear a difference. 😂
I completely agree that audio demos over the internet have little to no value other than possibly for entertainment.
The speaker porn has got to stop
That setup is pretty insane.
It sounds fantastic too
My movie setup is a monitor on a zvox speaker. But then my gaming setup is a down firing Yamaha sub and 2 realist audio speakers.
RP-8060FA wicked speakers 🔊
its a bit much for eastenders here in the UK
Hey Youthman. What was the movie playing at the end?
Sicario
Yes, so if you thought your soundbar was nice, take it outside and burn it.
You mean burn it inside and use the insurance money to afford the entire theater setup so the 7.2.4 makes sense.
Dolby Atmos recommends direct speakers. But your set up includes side dipoles? How does this sound compared to if you used all 7 direct speakers?
This is neat but I guess is you If I have to ask I can’t afford it 😂
Killer setup you have! Looking to get my own small home theater setup but I’m not even sure where to start honestly
And just like that a beautiful home theatre looks like an 80's 20 something's first apartment!

interesting if Paradigm would let you test there speakers . Great set up there.
I reviewed their newly released budget speakers ua-cam.com/video/CUGwU41GWRE/v-deo.html
Best home theater setup 👍🏻
Is there music for set ups like this?
I mean, especially trance music as example should be perfect for ceiling speakers as well to get in the middle of the music.
My bosses son had a set of these delivered to the workshop for his house before Christmas. I could not believe the price he told me they were 😲😲😲. Never heard of them till then. Now im seeing them everywhere
I have 5 ceiling speakers already installed & wired by the builder in my living room.
What's the best way to deploy them? wo sacrifying any of them?
Just use them as atmos? In an x.x.4 set up?
Yes I wouldn’t recommend using them for any of your bed layer speakers. They could be used for height channels
Best fiim for sound affects is Rambo

Heat..... Amazing... It will blow your mind
What a dream setup...
It definitely would make a fantastic home theater system
Yeah, i got a Pioneer VSX 922K and thought that was awesome, cost me 100 GBP never managed to offord decent speakers, ended up blowing 4 sets of random speakers pouring smoke at full volume unbelivably powerfull, but ive never managed to harness it :(
Id LOVE that system, the clarity and bass and theatre of the system must be unreal
Unfortunately if you ran your receiver still full volume, the receiver began to clip which caused the speakers to distort and distortion will easily blow a speaker. No matter how amazing your speakers are, if you turned your receiver to full volume, you would fry them too.
OMG Very professional , I love it
Thank you
I wish I could possess such equipment at affordable price here , it's nice that you have arranged very acoustically
I just bend thr wire and stick it where the banana plug goes when I'm trying different speakers haha
Hi Youthman, I like the Gas Shocks you used for the Fixed Projector Screen Ho can I get Them/ where can I buy them?
Thanks, take a look at this page for my build threads - youthmanreviews.com/about/
Im getting this exact setup: 504C center, 8060FA (L/R), 502S for surrounds couples to a PC-2000 SVS Sub.
Thank you Matt. I bet your 65” OLED looks gorgeous. Have a great week
@@Youthman Curious, what kind of preamp / power amp are you running with your system to make it 7.2.4?
Marantz AV7706 with Monolith 11X. Here is a my most recent room tour - ua-cam.com/video/CSo7ZEDArjQ/v-deo.html
(2) Marantz amps would cost $1,000 more and offer less wattage per channel.
I have the marantz with pre out so you can choose to add power amps. It gets really hot, even with power amps...
That’s not true at all.
Curious what you feel isn’t true at all
@@Youthman about “affordable” AVRs not being able to power a HT setup.
The difference is the Atmos switch is for when you are using them as upfiring speakers. The switch modified the crossover.
Yes!! I think the same. The switch in Atmos is only when bounce the sound whit the ceiling. In this case is Surround.
Jorge is correct. Atmos only when upfiring
Question on the setup... No dedicated/discrete amplification stage for this setup? Could you explain that?
I believe at the time of this video, I ran the entire system off an AVR due to Klipsch's high sensitivity.
Which ones are better at being Atmos Speakers, PRO-180RPC in-ceiling or RP-500SA wall mounted?
In-Ceiling will typically provide the best experience
I thought I had a nice set up. It's a work in progress. I can't quite do all that but it will be a nice Klipsch set up.
I think ear will settle after some time from these speakers .. if you have 8 speaker like flowing places
1. Front Right top
2. Front Right bottom
3. Front left top
4. Front left bottom
5. Back right top
6. Back right bottom
7. Back left top
8 back left bottom
9. Subwoofer top
10 subwoofer bottom
Such 3D sound system you can identify sound coming from and ear can’t settle down .. try this for thunder storm sound from top only and walk sound from bottom location
Wow thats a nice setup.
What would be the best wires to buy for this setup?
I use Monoprice cables. Very affordable and nice build quality
Can you use the upfiring speakers with speakers wired to the roof will we have interference
You should have the switch set to surround if you are mounting them on the wall.... The switch uses the Atmos crossover specifically used for optimizing the speaker for sound reflection. You would have much better response for your configuration. I have them with my Klipsch palladium setup
Otherwise awesome video per usual
Thanks. There is some debate on which setting is correct so I submitted an email to Klipsch. Awaiting a response.
@@Youthman
Just some food for thought, they don't have a Dolby Atmos switch for in ceiling speakers. But I look forward to hearing from Klipsch
Or like you said preference can play a role. Some people like the highs more pronounced!
Total praise sr.
@@Youthman Thank you for your reply.
Dude got the premium speakers behind that screen damn!

Awesome setup, Klipsch are the best
o my god the best system i have ever seen in my life I'm joking but is the best bro
very perfect. how much budget is needed to install this system?
$6500
And now you are speechless. HAHAH its too funny! Have great day, man.
I Just want to Know why do Klipsch, Krix the dust cap of the woofer is concave not dome out like a lump?
It’s for looks. The dust cap is simply that to keep dust from getting on the voice coil.
Nice speakers hope it has cool Bass
My friend. the speakers are beautiful. I wonder what the sound will be like. great video.
Sounds great so far.
Wicked setup. You aren't using the Klipsch La Scallas as a centre channel?
This is a well thought out system! Gotta admit though, I am a bit surprised that you chose a receiver over pre amp /power amp combo! A Marantz 8805 paired with a couple of ATI 52NC multi channel amps would have taken you to end-game status!
Surprised really?
$4500 - AV8805
$2400 - AT528NC
$. 800 - AT524NC
----------
$7700
vs. $3000 for the SR8012
At twice the cost, I would only hope it would reach end game status.
