I love how even with an insane full JTR theater you still think about the basics and share down to earth videos like this for us without a dedicated theater! Fantastic explanation of everything!
Thank you kindly Justin. That’s the entire purpose for my channel regardless of how far My Home Theater progresses, I still want to share a variety of content from basics to intermediate to advanced as well as budget to ultra high end systems and gear. A little something for everyone.
Hey those are klipsch line I have except for the dolby atmoss . I run height speakers instead in a 20x 22 garage room with dual sb4000 s . I'm saving money for the sb 16 ultra as my third sub. But first gotta finish paying off my jvc 4k projector 2 more payments. 😅
Another pro-tip, if you have white baseboard or black or beige you can purchase wire hiders(in that color) & put your wires along the edge & floor of your walls. I also have hardwood floors
I've got a buddy building a new house. This is the exact system I'm recommending for his living room setup. He's older and the priority for him is clarity of voices while watching TV. I saw your previous video on Tips to Enhance the Dialogue of the Center Channel. I found it extremely helpful, everybody should watch that one.
Thank you kindly. This would definitely be a killer setup. As we get older, the high frequencies in our hearing begin to diminish. Klipsch provides very detailed top end, which can definitely help. If he does purchase a system, I would be grateful if he is able to use the affiliate links in the description.
Saludos amigo.
Thank you, finally you have answered the question I had about the phase for subs in the front and rear (I had asked this question sometime last year, and couldn’t get an answer) my solution was to just make the change of the rear subs to 180. I put it a demo disc (GKOTM) and I got my answer, the subs came alive! Thank you Michael!!
could u please elaborate. Im a newbie and running a marantz avr with two subs. Im mostly a music guy so suffering on the tv movie end doesnt bother me. could u explain the 180 comment. and how u made one sub different than the other? or did i mis read...thanks
Typically on the rear of your sub, you will see a phase knob or switch. Sometimes it’s a toggle switch to choose 0 degrees or 180 degrees. Others have a variable knob that allows you to choose anywhere between 0 and 180 degrees.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. Some movie mixes have dialogue set much lower than others. It is pretty frustrating having to always play with the center channel to get good matching levels for dialogue.
What is the diffrerence between RP-8000F II 2.0 and the R-600F Horn-Loaded speaker from Klipsch, please! I think I was able to figure out the difference is speaker size, one is 6 the other is 8 inches, how come they both put out 400 watts? what is the advantage of the 8 inch then?
Sorry I missed the premiere. My daughter had soccer. You definitely did Klipsch justice. You can still feel the respect, admiration and love that you have for Klipsch ❤❤
today i have decided to keep my subs placing opposite corners in the room and thinking about the phase allignment. and what are the odds? youthman explained the point clear & crisp. thanks mate and loved your video. stay blessd
Thanks Youthman, I just subscribed! I just had my old Sony STR-KS2300 blow up on me and I've been doing exhaustive research for three days straight. I ordered a Pioneer VSX935 receiver ($422) and a Klipsch R-120SWi Subwoofer ($250). I'm planning on setting up a 5.1.2 Atmos setup using the old Sony speakers with two old Pioneers as my height speakers temporarily. If you can comment on any mistakes it would be appreciated. Your video was the most comprehensive video I've watched in the last three days, and with me being an audio/video newbie I just wanted to thank you.
@@averagestudent4358 It came out great. I got Klipsch R-41M Powerful Detailed Bookshelf Home Speakers Set of 2 Black with a Klipsch RC42IIBL Center Speaker Black. I swapped the Pioneer height speakers with the old Sony's. I heard Iron Man descend from above my ceiling for the first time and was amazed!
Thank you, Garry. That was the goal. I put a ton of time, probably more so than almost any other video on the channel. The main reason is my highest viewed video on the channel is similar in nature, but it was made for years ago with horrible lighting, horrible, audio, and terrible looking camera lol I really wanted to replace that video was something I could be proud of. Hahaha
This video should be titles: "Home Cinema: Noobs must watch " It covered everything I need to know including the 2 surrounding that will have to stay at 90 degree angle also, perfect!!!
I have a couple of questions. Here is my setup: Denon 4700 Klipsch R-625FA Dolby Atmos Floor stand speakers Klipsch RP- 504C II center channel Klipsch R-41M Bookshelf speakers Klipsch R-12SW subwoofer 1-What are your suggestions for the crossover settings? 2- What are your suggestions for the db level for all the speakers? This is where I am confused.
I have a dedicated room with all Klipsch. After researching the new Nakamichi Dragon, I'm wondering if that's the way to go. Have you heard it? If so, what are your thoughts?
This would be the perfect setup for my living room if I had the money to one day do somethin like this. I just have a LG 65" UQ9000 LCD TV & a LG 3.1 soundbar which does the job pretty good for now, but man if I could one day take it to the next level this is exactly what I'd do for sure. I love the setup man, thanks for the info on this stuff too.
Do you think surround placement is nearly as critical as front stage placement? I have an open room and ideal placement for surrounds would look awkward.
Is the two rear channel speakers I'm using the Klipsch 8060 Fa .. play spread across the very large room was the ultimate invisible where did that come from sound
Hi, Youthman; that is an excellent explanation of a setup. I enjoy your videos. Can you please provide a complete setup for Klipsch reference 625 speakers with an Onkyo 6100 receiver? I would appreciate your prompt insight. Thank you!
I've got a pair of the Klipsch R625fa up-firing speakers and I can't figure out if they are supposed to be wired lower to upper terminals, or on separate wires directly from my Denon X3300W 7.2 AVR
@@Youthman That’s the plan, is to go through them and see what fits my needs. Coming from a HTIB, to now a Denon S760H, and R450C, R41’s and RP500M’s. Definitely gonna order banana plugs lol
Thanks for the tips. Can you help me? My new theatre uses Epson 5050ub and I supplied my Denon avr with Monoprice 4K High Speed HDMI Cable 35ft - CL2 In Wall Rated 18Gbps Active Black. However, when pressing PLAY on my UHD or switching menus on movies, or selecting scenes there is a 2-3 second video delay. The audio is instantaneous. Any idea why this lag occurs?
Hey Michael, I have a question about the Klipsch RP 500sa which I have. In this video I noticed that you said that if you use them for on wall Atmos that you would set the toggle switch to surround and on an older video you said to set it to Atmos. Mine are set to Atmos but do I need to set it to surround to get the best result, I have 4 of them on wall as Atmos/heights. Thanks
I have 110hz speakers and my avr only has 100hz or 120hz selections is it ok to set avr to 100hz for my 110hz speakers or is it best to keep them at 120hz? Any help would be appreciated thank you....
@Youthman, Nice, good pace and coverage , I believe adding the Dirac Live optimization with more than three-point measurement version could be worth while as well.
I have always set up my speakers and subs at a positive number. Saw on your video and others where they are in the negative range. When I do that, can barley hear anything and have to turn my volume way up. Just curious.
Hi Dean, what speakers are you using? If I had to guess the reason you were needing to go into the positive is because your speakers have a low sensitivity rating which means they take more power (thus why the AVR is pushing into the positive).
@@Youthman Had used Axiom VP-100 center and Axiom M22Ti for front and right and now sure about the back. Now i have Klipsch quinet 111 speakers. I really like them and actually think thy sound better than the Axiom. But I am at plus 8 for fronts, 10 for center and surround and rears are at 7 to 8 as well. All in the positive. Again, both would be super quiet if I were at the negative 8 to so, and would have to turn my av way up. Thanks for your time and feedback.
Well done, very informative and explained in good detail without any fancy technical terms. Just curious how you ran the wires for your right surrounds since the wires would have to go across the floor.
when we bought our home 16 years ago, the “deal” was I can do whatever I want in the Dedicated theater room, but no speakers and the rest of the house. After many years, she finally said I could have a pair of speakers in the living room, but she want new furniture. DONE 🤣🤣🤣
when i purchased the house the klispsch ceiling speakers already installed. i dont see any wires outside/visible so, i am guessing the wires might be inside the wall. I use Legrand app to connect (via bluetooth) to the ceiling speakers and play ONLY audio songs from my phone. but now, i want to connect the ceiling speakers to home theatre system. i hope i am clear now. what type of recevier should i use here?
hello Youthman you know I have problem with my home theater the vol on music and movies is to low I try many options but always is the same I have Denon 3700h with 5.1.2 you have any recomendation for my problem I hope you can help me
i got 2 12 inch klipsch r120 sw in my living room ,what level did you have your subs set to on the back ?i was wondering just to know whats a safe level to have it at so when turning up the volume its all good
If your speakers are self powered, you will need pre-outs from your AVR. if you attempt to use the speaker output which your powered going into a powered speaker, you’re going to run into issues
New subscriber here. In my setup I'm forced to have my couch against the back wall. Should I do 5.1.2 or 5.1.4? I 'm doing in wall for the surround and in ceiling speakers for the Atmos. Small room 12' wide, 15' deep with 8' ceiling. Does the 5.1.2 setup make more sense since my back is to the wall? Thanks!
I agree with you. I’m not sure having for Atmos would provide much benefit. Unfortunately, we all have to deal with not so perfect rooms and have to do the best with what we have.
I used the SPL Meter on my phone and I got 10+ db on my two front speakers and 11+ db on my center channel, I think reference is 75 and that was the measurements when I used the SPL Meter (I heard z is better than c). I'm scared now because you said anything above 0 db is a risk for damaging your speakers. Do u know what I'm doing wrong?
Hello there thanks for upload this video . I have a question how many watt RMS power needs for speakers for add to amplifier. ? I mean if my amp deliver power like 140 watts per 2 Channels driven. and then how many watts RMS we need to add speakers on right way?? Can I add speakers like 150 watts or 140 watts or 180 or 200?? Or more than 200?
The more clean power the better. I would have no problem driving a 100 watt or 150 watt rated speaker with a 200 wpc amp. You’ll likely never get close to using all 200 watts but it’s great to have on reserve when you need the additional horsepower.
@@Youthman please can you Upload one video for Exactly how to match the speakers to the AVR or Power Amplifiers on right way. Also what happened if I run Speakers over power than the amplifiers and under power speakers than the amplifiers please. Very useful your video to the peoples and me thanks 🙏
Baseboards typically are installed on top of carpet so you should be able to tuck it in pretty easily as you are simply pushing the carpet down to slide the wire in
Youthman - Thanks for your videos on Klipsch speakers. I am currently looking for a 5.1 system in my living room (25' x 15' x 18'). Considering the following options (primarily for HT): a. Klipsch RP 8000 ii; Klipsch 504C ii; Klipsch RP 500 ii (as rear/ surrounds) b. Klipsch RF 7 iii; Klipsch RC 64 iii; Klipsch RP 500 ii (as rear/ surrounds). I would pair it with an Outlaw LFM 1EX sub. Currently own Ascends (CMTs + CBMs, same sub), which I wiull be moving to the media space in basement. Would like to know your thoughts on the options.
The reference premier system offers a lot of bang for your buck. The RF7 III is a significant improvement due to the 1.75” compression driver, massive dial 10” woofers and you step up to real wood veneer.
Got it. I don’t play at loud volumes. Would there be a discernible difference in performance for lower to moderate volumes, especially considering the price difference?
If using dolby enabled speakers, like you are using, so 5.1.4, the surrounds speakers should be 90 to 110 degrees, and not the 110 to 120 degrees like you stated, as this only applies for a regular 5.1. That means that you correctly positioned the surrounds in a 90 degree angle as the Dolby guidelines indicate. See page 30 of the guidelines.
You’re absolutely correct those are the guidelines for a 5.1.4 set up. But if I had placed the speakers where Dolby recommends, they would have blocked the walkway behind the couch and the entrance to my outdoor living area. That just was not an option. Every room has limitations and we have to do the best within those limitations. Even my dedicated theater room has limitations and is not a perfect setup. But man it sure brings a massive smile to my face every time I use it.
From what Ibsee on this page, it’s showing 110 a 120. Am I missing something? www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/5.1.4-dolby-atmos-enabled-speaker-setup-guide/
@@Youthman thats why the confusion. The comprehensive 60 page setup guide from Dolbyin pdf form says something totally different at page 30: www.dolby.com/siteassets/technologies/dolby-atmos/atmos-installation-guidelines-121318_r3.1.pdf
What you think of my home theater system I have a full Cambridge sound works system Amp is a pioneer vsx-90 Fronts are a pair of csw t500 Rears are a pair of csw m50 My height speakers are a set csw s300 My subs are csw 1000 and the built is subs on my t500s And my center channel is some csw oversized center My tv is a 55in lg c1 oled and an xbox series x
Was there a reason you decided not to use the hdmi eARC out from the pioneer to the TV? I have everything ran to the pioneer then use the hdmi eARC out to the TV.
That’s exactly how I had it connected. But I think I forgot to include that in the video lol. Honestly, this was a 3 day film and edit. Probably the most time I’ve spent on a video. I may need to make a follow up video.
@@Youthman still made a killer video. For a complete how to setup getting the information to the TV is kinda important for a home theater lol. If you make a follow up maybe you can describe the pros and cons of different HDMI cables, like optical hdmi for long distances, 2.0 and 2.1... etc...
Hey Youthman can you talk about the new Klipsch subwoofers and see if they meet the criteria expectations? Is it all the rave? I have had many Kliosch subwoofers fail on me I want to go back to a Klipsch subwoofer. I have a SVS PC-2000 PRO still under warranty bought 07/22 any ideas on how to sell? Klipsch all the way! Thank you. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Especially in the comments here.
Hey Christian, I have not yet received any of the new Subwoofers to be able to comment on them personally. I do have high hopes for them, but time will tell once more people get them in their hands and have used them for a while.
Nice informative video! I purchased a Klipsch Synergy 7.1 surround sound system for my living room back in 2010. I wish I could upgrade, but after retirement and living only on social security it would be hard for me to upgrade. But my system still sounds as good as the day of purchase and I'm satisfied with the system. My speaker system is connected to a Yamaha 7.2 A/V receiver. I have my TV connected along with my two Tascam CD/Recorders, Music Hall turntable, Pioneer RT-1020L reel to reel tape deck, and my computer desktop. By the way, my living room is 12' by 21'. My sub is the Klipsch SW-450 downfiring sub.
@@Youthman I just ordered an onkyo receiver on the back will it say front atmos speaker or will it say height etc. I've had sound bars I just last night bought the receiver the 8060 and the 5040 center and the 12 sub. I know the fronts are self explanatory but the height speaker wire is my concern where to plug it into on the reciever
Do you guys know if Klipsch is coming out with another sub (the beast)? Or is the RP1600SW what they were referring to? Just want to know so I can purchase the 1600SW now or if I need to wait for the beast to come out lol
Hi Caleb, I have confirmed with Klipsch that the RP 1600 SW is not the beast. The beast is still under development, but there’s no timeline on when it will be announced. It’s been over a year since they first mentioned it on our podcast.
Many Atmos setup videos seem to agree that the up-firing speakers don't give the overhead effect desired. They say that fielding mounted gives the best effect. Do your homework. Keep your reciepts.
I agree. Upfiring Atmos should be your last resort. On-ceiling, in-ceiling or wall mounted height speakers would be a better option. I did not have that option in my living room.
My first home theater was Polk. Klipsch tend to be brighter, more detailed and forward sounding (which my ears prefer) but I thoroughly enjoyed the new Polk Reserve series. Search my channel for that video.
The only reason I’m asking is because I currently have a Bose acoustic mass system and I am trying to upgrade my system. I’m either going for Klipsch or Polk audio.
@@Antibackgroundnoise no I use front height speakers In a 5.2.2 configuration but I was always wondering if those dolby enable speakers would be better since dolby always promotes them
@6:58 in the video he lists speaker layouts that can be used with a 9.2 AV Receiver but he does not list some layouts (like a 5.2, 7.2, 9.2, 5.2.2, 7.2.2) why? Is just an oversight, and these are just not popular set ups or are they not possible for some reason?
If you are asking why a standard size living room needs two subwoofers, it’s because it can provide smoother seat frequency response across multiple seats
Due to my open layout, I do not have anywhere to add surround back speakers in my room. If you want a 7.1, check out the original series here ua-cam.com/video/pLqm_h7Ic1c/v-deo.html

This was such a thoughtful comment. Thanks for being you.
Thanks brother

Thank you for all the information! I have a question to you, can you connect it to a 7.2 receiver?
Thank you, finally you have answered the question I had about the phase for subs in the front and rear (I had asked this question sometime last year, and couldn’t get an answer) my solution was to just make the change of the rear subs to 180. I put it a demo disc (GKOTM) and I got my answer, the subs came alive! Thank you Michael!!
I appreciate the kind words Wendell. Glad you got it figured out.
could u please elaborate.

What's the update

It came out great.
Thanks Michel - This was one of your best vids! - Chers!
Hahaha
This video should be titles: "Home Cinema: Noobs must watch "

2- What are your suggestions for the db level for all the speakers? This is where I am confused.
Did the calibration again and here are the results. Should I change anything?
Front- 40hz
Center- 40hz
Surround- 60 hz
Front Dolby- 90hz
Amazing explanation, thank you so much 😊
Helpful video even if you are making your first 2.0 system.

What if I have an avr with no pre outs (denon x2800h) but my speakers are powered? Should I expect any issues with power or distortion?

Very useful your video to the peoples and me thanks 🙏
how do you run pull the carpet from the baseboard to tuck it in?
Baseboards typically are installed on top of carpet so you should be able to tuck it in pretty easily as you are simply pushing the carpet down to slide the wire in

I have cables that are 14 gauge and some that are 12 gauge. Either will work great for most application.
Youthman - Thanks for your videos on Klipsch speakers. I am currently looking for a 5.1 system in my living room (25' x 15' x 18'). Considering the following options (primarily for HT): a. Klipsch RP 8000 ii; Klipsch 504C ii; Klipsch RP 500 ii (as rear/ surrounds)
I would love to see a cable management guide.
@@Youthman you placed them at 90 degrees...thats exactly what the guideline says...see page 30.

@@Youthman thats why the confusion. The comprehensive 60 page setup guide from Dolbyin pdf form says something totally different at page 30: www.dolby.com/siteassets/technologies/dolby-atmos/atmos-installation-guidelines-121318_r3.1.pdf

I know you're a Klipsch person, but what do you think about Polk audio?
My first home theater was Polk. Klipsch tend to be brighter, more detailed and forward sounding (which my ears prefer) but I thoroughly enjoyed the new Polk Reserve series. Search my channel for that video.
The only reason I’m asking is because I currently have a Bose acoustic mass system and I am trying to upgrade my system. I’m either going for Klipsch or Polk audio.
All those speakers... for that TV?
Hope you upgraded the TV later.
I only have two towers in my living room setup. This system was sent for review.
How do I connect a wired microphone to a Sony receiver?

@6:58 in the video he lists speaker layouts that can be used with a 9.2 AV Receiver but he does not list some layouts (like a 5.2, 7.2, 9.2, 5.2.2, 7.2.2) why? Is just an oversight, and these are just not popular set ups or are they not possible for some reason?
It wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive list. Of course you can have two subs with any setup. This AVR has dual sub outs. Others you can use a Y adapter.

Just curious as to why a standard size living room would need TWO LFE's.
There’s only one LFE channel. Some AVR’s have 2 or 4 independent Sub Outputs so the AVR can time align them and level match them independently.
If you are asking why a standard size living room needs two subwoofers, it’s because it can provide smoother seat frequency response across multiple seats
