    Thank you so much for this! I ordered 2 sets of the 5.1 speakers and the Onkyo 7100. It's such an unreal value and now I have 5.2.4!

    I’ve had one of these receivers for almost one year now I promise you won’t be disappointed. They can drive speakers quite easily and it has a very nice staging. For basic speakers and most medium-size rooms it is going to sound amazing easy to use an onscreen sections work very very well.

    I’m new to HT and I got my 5.1.2 setup for about $500. Denon x1600H on OfferUp for $200 that works great no issues the guy upgraded that’s why and gave me a Klipsch sub too. I got my Klipsch speakers on OfferUp for a total of $200. The L&R and surrounds are the R15M bookshelf’s with a R25C. Then I found some Jamo 801s at a local record store for $50. of course cables and wires on Amazon for about $50. I got this all set up in a week. I live in Phoenix, AZ so OfferUp has a lot of sellers for HT equipment/speakers. I can’t wait to save up more to upgrade but I’m in no rush because I love it so far. Good video Technodad! I’ve been watching your channel for years 🤙🏽

    I have the Onkyo NR TX6050 7.1 AVR I purchased from Costco a couple of years ago. It Still works good. Dolby Atmos sounds great in 5.1.2 setup. But I want to upgrade to 5.1.4 and I think this 7100 is the Perfect AVR for Most Peoples. Its a Budget friendly AVR that ticks all the boxes for most peoples. Paired with small bookshelf speakers or the Klipsch sounds you can’t go wrong. This is a great setup for about $1500. If I was NEW to Home theater and wanted the best setup for under $1500 this is where I would start just add an AppleTV 4k and Sony 4k Blu-ray player and your set. And 65-inch 4k TV at least. So you could have an Awsome home theater setup for about $2,500.

    If you also purchase a slightly upgraded separate Klipsch center channel then you can use the two center channel speakers you got from the kits as the front L/R’s in MTM.

    I bought one Klipsch 5.1 reference theater pack, and a Yamaha TSR-700 AV receiver at Costco for about $800 total. This is the exact same receiver as the V6A.
    I might add height speakers down the road but this system sounds amazing as is.

    I just getting into HT, coming from sq car audio. I almost bought this setup prior to seeing this video. After a ton of research I decided to go with....
    -Onkyo TX-NR7100 ($650)
    -RSL CG23M 5.1 HOME THEATER SYSTEM w/ 12s sub ($1200)
    -4 Micca 8" Ceiling Speakers ($150)
    Total Cost = $2000
    I pretty confident this is the best setup for $2000. If you are on a bit more of a budget Id go with CG3M 5.1w/ 10E Sub HT sytem ($800). Total cost= $1450 minus your ceiling/height speaker.
    You dont have to spend a lot of money for ceiling speakers, but Id suggest you go with decent 8" if you can. Or just cheaper small bookself height speakers.
    Klipsch set is decent and a great deal, but the sub is lacking and highs can be harsh from what I've read. There isnt much hard data on them mostly just opinions. However the RSL drivers seem fantastic. I cant wait to get it all set up......

    I bought the set without the stereo to use with my Pioneer AV receiver a few years ago when they were on sale for around $380. Using my existing bookshelf speakers to get a 5.1.2 system set up until I can buy some floor standing fronts. The plan would be to use them for my height channels and the bookshelf speakers for surrounds.

    Mounting and most significantly cabling is the bugaboo of this, especially for height in-ceiling speakers. For most people that requires a contractor or electrician, and these days that’s big bucks, way beyond the cost of the gear.

    • @courtneylewis899
      @courtneylewis899 14 днів тому

      really no need ever for an electrician.. no idea where you got this from.. at worst you might need a handy man to run the speaker wire and mount the atmos speakers to a ceiling rafter.. i mean might cost 150 tops.. but a stud finder and access to your attic is all you need to DIY this.. and it is VERY easy.. this is simpler then i believe you think.

    Does the LFE channel exist only for the absence of full range speakers in any of the other channels? In other words, if every channel in a set up, including surrounds, and Atmos speakers, were set to full range, would any signal be sent to the LFE channel?

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  2 місяці тому

      You would still want a subwoofer connected to LFE due to movies. Not so much music as that starts to cut off around 30. But with moves, they put all sorts of stuff down there, so I would always recommend running a subwoofer as LFE

    Don’t buy the Onkyo 7100. There is a reason it’s the cheapest 9 channel amp out there. Unless someone can verify that Pioneer/Onkyo has fixed the hidden power limiting ‘feature’ this amp is a serious crap shoot. I’d buy a cheaper 7 channel amp- Denon 760/770/970/X1700/x1800/x2800 all of which can be had for less than $600 and in some cases less than $400.
    I’m also a bit dubious on that Klipsch set. 5 tiny little plastic satellites and a cheap sub that is probably going to need to do a lot of heavy lifting to shore up the lack of bass throughout the rest of the system. Personally, I like to spend more on my speakers than my amp but to each their own. If you just want tons of speakers in your space: sure. But I’d advise anyone on a budget to stick with 5.1 and get a better set of speakers and wait to add the height channels until later. Those tiny speakers are best in a very small room... And if your room is that small maybe you don’t need 9 channels? Just a thought.

    • @rauland
      @rauland 2 місяці тому +1

      I can assure you that, while no dual 8” Klipsch set up, for what it is it is pretty impressive. I’ve had the non-atmos version for 7yrs now and for my smaller room it’s quite nice. Yes, the included. 8” sub does struggle at louder volumes. I swapped it out for a r110 klipsch and much much improved. Everything powered by a marantz NR1607 (I think….). Granted you wouldn’t put this in a larger room, but for small living rooms or apartments it’s more than adequate.

    What is the difference between the Onkyo 7100 and the Onkyo TX-NR797 9.2-Channel combo available on Amazon with the Klipsch speakers for $749? Is this a steal at that price? As far as I can tell that would be the same setup for $1110! Same 220 watts per channel not the cheaper 80 watt per channel system that is available for $599. What is missing?

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  Місяць тому +1

      100% the TX-NR797 is the way to go at that price, DAYMN!!! - amzn.to/3CFwP1f - It's on Amazon for about $450. I'd argue for someone that just wants affordable atmos and isn't into the geekier side of home theater then the Sony Theatre Quad is a better option. Probably only slightly more expensive once you've accounted for speaker mounts and cables. This setup would definitely be better IF setup and dialled in well but for someone not into all that that just wants to stick their speakers somewhere roughly ok, not have to mount heights, not have to run speaker cables and just wants an easy but good auto EQ the Sony is probably the better option for their use case.
    For someone that is happy doing all the above and dialling in a better system but their budget is tight just now if it were me I'd rather get a better receiver capable of more channels and a very good pair of stereo speakers and then just add more speakers etc to it every couple of months or so as the budget allows. The only way to upgrade this would be to completely replace it.
    But it's certainly a great system for someone with a small room and budget that would rather spend the time setting it up and dialling it in than using something like the Quad.
