Thanks, Rob. Your demo of the Local Adjustments is excellent! 👍👍
Thanks, John!
I really enjoy your videos!!! You get to the point and the presentation style is really enjoyable. Great job!!! All the best
Thank you very much!
You really have got very good with DxO. . . loved this program from the first time I used it (several years ago ) .. but now it's on another level
Thanks. I try.
@Rob Trek loving the Photolab videos. I bought the Elite version using your link based on your recommendation and the videos you've already done. Would love to see more videos because I find your style very easy to follow.
Thank you, Joanne! I will make more videos. Check out my live stream videos where I use photolab 6 to edit viewer photos.
Thanks! Keep up the great work
Thank you so much!
@Rob: Nice demo! One comment @ 4.43: You had "local adjustments" toggled all the time and that's why it showed up in the compare slider. If you deactivate it before, you also don't get the tool overlays when using the slider.
Thanks!
Your DXO videos are really very helpful. I like PhotoLab but the compare UI seems extremely clunky for what is normally considered a simple task in a photo editor. Click on 2 or more image thumbnails and press compare.
Thanks. I know many have submitted requests to add this feature through their forum and support. I send one every year with each upgrade.
I agree, so I use FastStone or ACDSee Ultimate to compare more than two images, but that only works for *completed* exports.
Hi Rob. I have Photolab 4. Is there a way in this version (or a later version) to create a PNG file in CMYK colour mode from a jpeg (or raw) file? Many thanks in advance Rich
I don't see a way too export as png. You'd have to export as .tif with the cmyk icc profile applied and then convert it using something like fastsone.
@@RobTrek appreciate your time as always Rob
I have tried to activate Deep Prime XD plus Lens sharpening as the only changes - and then export the result as a DNG. Then everything looks nice and sharp when the DNG is loaded, and as far as I can see so far, only the AI sharpening and the Lens sharpening will be out of reach during the following editing. Besides this Photolab 6 'anomali' - it has been my regular workflow to run my ARW files through Pure Raw 2 (plus Adobe Raw Converter!) before the last 95 percent editing in Darktable. There is no visual difference in my results between native raw and DNG, not in Darktable anyway. Maybe you know of limitations with DNGs in Photolab 6 (I am still a novice with this software).
I've struggled with Darktable myself, but lots of people love it. The only downside to using another editor vs doing everything in Photolab is that you have to create the DNG. So now you have two files - raw + dng. I have a similar workflow for my pro work where I export the dng and process in Photoshop then back to Photolab. I usually just delete the raw images after I deliver to the client.
Actually my resent purchase of the DxO Photolab 6 was provoked by a situation in Darktable when it slowed down. The GPU needs to be rather potent. Also some times I get tired in Darktable and think - this problem could be solved much faster in my old ACR, in Affinity Photo 2 or in Photolab 6. So I purchased the lab and found out that I could solve the problem faster, but not as detailed as in Darkroom. The masking system in DT is really good and I have developed a dependency. I am not a professional, so I have all the time for my low level production. Meanwhile it's interesting to follow your examples with Photolab. I like the tempo and mood. Please keep them coming.
@@Eigil_Skovgaard Do you have any particular genre you like to shoot? I can select from my collection a similar genre and share how I edit in a new video.
I hate to admit this - but I shoot anything but humans. Nature - also with animals still present. I like birds. So, I guess I am more of a stock photo shooter - not very artistic but rather precise with the details.
