    Presumably if you need to process a panoramic image you need to process the files before they are stitched and presumably this will substantially increased processing time when it comes to stitching them in, say, Lightroom

    With the ISO performance and IBIS of my Panasonic S5 plus the noise reduction performance of Dxo Pure Raw 3, i don't need anymore fast lenses: with just the 20-60 and 70-300 i am fully covered for any situation in any light. This camera and this software have been a real game changer for my photography.

    Hi Rob, Thanks for the video. Just bought PR3 on the recommendations of Rod Lawtons Life after Photoshop article. Works brilliantly on my 2017 Apple processing Fuji files though Capture One pro. Like your style of presentation.- not too fast or laborious.

    A deal breaker for me is the file size of the raw it creates and re-imports back to lightroom... about five times the original Mb.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 місяців тому

      I get that. I typically delete the raw files after conversions. I make exceptions time to time, but generally don't need to keep them.

      Exporting to TIFF creates **much much larger** files than exporting to DNG. Lightroom can handle DNG directly.

    Thank you for this extremely helpful tutorial. I currently use PhotoMechanic for culling. Am I able to open my tagged/selected images directly in DXO Pure Raw 3 prior to creating a Lightroom Catalogue. Any workflow suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Not that I am aware of. I'm using Photolab 7 Elite which has Deep Prime built in, so haven't used Pure Raw in a while. Maybe double check with the dxo forum forum.dxo.com/

    Really enjoyed this video Rob, thanks.
    I hope you don't mind a few questions:
    1. When you process so many files in this way are the resulting files huge? How do you manage your files so the storage is manageable?
    2. If you process files in the way you suggest, including chromatic aberration, lens distortion and vignetting, does this cause any conflicts if you edit later in Lightroom? So will Lightroom try to execute the built in lens corrections again during that editing process? Would you normally switch this off in Lightroom as a result?
    3. If you do it the other way around i.e. Edit in Lightroom first and then e port from Lightroom to DXO through the plug in, will DXO remember your edits so that the image in DXO will appear as your edited copy, not the original RAW?
    Hope that makes sense. Thanks again for the content and the referrals to the other M43 groups.

      Hi Brian,
      1. I usually delete the raw files after processing in DxO. The files created by DxO are 3-5 times larger, so storage is at a premium. It's best to be very selective on which files you process. I wouldn't just batch process an entire directory or day's shoot.
      2. If you process lens corrections in DxO, then make sure to uncheck the optical corrections when editing the processed file in Lightroom. Otherwise you'll be applying optical corrections twice, giving a distorted image.
      3. DxO only processes the untouched raw images. Edits done in lightroom prior to DxO are ignored.
      Hope that helps,
      -Rob

    Great video, have you been able to compare this to the newer Lightroom denoise option?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  Рік тому

      Thanks. Yes, I did a few comparisons. At lower iso they are pretty much the same. At higher iso, DxO clearly does a better job. It really depends on the image, but generally over 6400 will be better in DxO.

    Thank you for this excellent tutorial. Is there a time of the year that we can actually get a discounted version of DXO Raw? Also, another concern is the support of future cameras/lenses. While it is being promoted as a lifetime one-time purchase, once Raw 4 is out, Raw 3 will no longer be supported with new cameras/lenses. From my understanding, this means that you no longer can open the files generated from future cameras.

      @RobTrek  Рік тому

      Black Friday deals in October are the best. As for camera updates, it's probably best to wait until you see the camera you want supported. You never know when a new version is about to release and you don't want to buy Raw 3 and then have to pay an upgrade to Raw 4. The upgrades are substantially less expensive than a full version, but sill. That would not be ideal..

      @@RobTrek Thank you for your reply. Would love to see a comparison video of noise reduction between DXO, Topaz and lightroom. I know there are already a few videos on this but would love to hear your take.

    I guess if you're using Lightroom one would have to deactivate the auto sharpening, chromatic aberation processes, etc in Lightroom before processing it in PureRaw.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  Рік тому +1

      Hi. Sorry I took so long to get back to you. PureRaw will ignore Lightroom settings and use the original raw file. So no need to do anything first. It will create a new dng file for you to edit. Do not apply optical corrections to the created dng file.

    I have a Pentium 486 running at 33mhz with 16mb ram and Hercules graphics. Will this program work for me?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  Рік тому

      Unfortunately not. From there website: The computer needs at least 4 GB of RAM and 4 GB of available hard disk space. GPU compatibility starts from NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series, ATI Radeon HD2000 Series, and Intel HD Graphics 2000 Series or Apple silicon. Windows machines need an Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64 X2 or higher.
