Big tip for college essays:they say write what you know! I say write what you know AND love! Passion will shine through in your essays, even if it’s something as “silly” as Marvel. I was so obsessed with it at the time that I covered Marvel events as a journalist, hosted my own version of Comic Con at school, wrote a play about superhero-obsessed roommates, did a stats project about marvel audiences, and wrote a cause and effect paper on the effects of 9/11 in the superhero industry.
so naturally it would show up on my college essays!
so my biggest tip for you is to HAVE FUN. BE WEIRD. BE PASSIONATE. this is what makes you memorable! The more niche your interest is, the better! don’t be afraid to “nerd out.” use jargon from that world. when you do this, you demonstrate both passion and mastery. This advice applies not only to the “what do you enjoy” sort of questions, but also to the “intellectual curiosity” questions. THIS is how you demonstrate your intellectual curiosity. What is the thing that sent you down a rabbit hole???
