I think dissolving is something that isn't talked about at all in practices. I had a patient that literally looked horrible and just kept wanting more. The doctor never suggested starting fresh its really annoying
Yes! This happend to me. I went to very good Clinics and none of the Doctors told me about lip filler migration! I 've had it for years!!!! They put more and more filler in! I thought they will fix the duck lip but it got worse and worse. 10 years after looking like an idiot my PMU lady who did my brows told me it can be dissolved!!!!!!
That’s how the bills get paid. She wants you to come back. She fully understood what you said and did the complete opposite. I’ve never go back to her.
But everytime you dissolve the lip filler you also breakdown the HA naturally found in the lip. So you not only break down the filler but your own storage of moisture and plumpness so the lips will appear even more deflated and overtime sag and age quicker which increase the need for even more filler. So it doesn't sound like a longterm strategy if girls in their 20 - 30s should dissolve their lipfiller that frequently.
Incorrect. Studies have already shown that in some cases, dissolver can indeed breakdown our own natural HA however it does regenerate within 48 hours.
@@ubs16 I don't need to convince people. Studies already show it. Sit down and educate yourself, a quick search on google scholar shows such studies in a matter of seconds. Maybe look into Dr. Gabriela Casabona's studies showing the use of Hyaluronidase on HA and how HA regenerates itself.
This is really interesting to listen to. I’ve only had lip fillers twice and each injector used completely different techniques. The first person injected from the side of the lip corner and pushed needle into the backside of the lip and filled while he pulled needle out. No pain for me. Alot of lip volume resulted from that method. It pushed my lip forward but didn’t change the shape much. Second injector did many small pokes and injections all around the outside of my lips. ALOT of pain. Alot of bruising. Volume after for a month or two but it didn’t last long for me.
Hey, after watching this video i made an appointment to have my lipfillers desolved. Ive been having lipfillers from different places over the last 6 years and had them desolved today. I got my lips done a year ago and loved them, and i went back this year but i felt like the filler is starting to form a shodow on my upper lip this time.. and i guess now i know why. Thanks alot for the helpful video i will make sure to dissolve next time before re-injecting
Thank you for educating me. I’m considering having a filler since my once very full lips have shrunken due to age. I’m really nervous about any procedure and have never consider elective procedures but lip fillers have been in my mind lately. As a RN I know I have to educate myself and this video was a good start!
I have M shaped lips. My first apt I was surprised that they injected (half syringe) directly on my upper lip line as this area of my lip already protrudes the most naturally. This made my lip line stick out like crazy on top and then the filler migrated north within a day. I had it dissolved and now I will never let an injector put product here, it doesn’t work on my m lip shape at all. I have to have it put on either side of my “beak” to even it out and then the lowest part of my lip only (meaty inner part) I strongly oppose having filler put anywhere near the white roll or even the edges of the vermillion border. It is not flattering for all lip shapes especially mine. I wish injectors wouldn’t assume a one size fits all approach to lip injections.
Incredible truth! I have not heard or seen another recommend dissolving filler after x amount of treatments. Brilliant! This makes sense on many levels. More Dr's need to educate their clients as you evidently do. Look forward to learning more from your videos. Keep them coming!
There’s an educating comment which informs us as to how n why dissolving filler fat can also weaken general skin around n be detrimental, it would be kind of the doctor to clarify this
Literally your work is the most natural and beautiful I’ve seen. I’d never get any fillers myself having seen the 9/10 awful results here in the UK but if I was in Canada I’d consider it ! 🤣
I love all your videos they are so informative! 😭 since I’m typically seeing a lot of people my age (20-30s) interested in cosmetic procedures such as fillers and Botox, would you make a video describing what can the younger generation do to prevent wrinkles, volume and collage loss as we get older? I think it would be beneficiary to save time and money as we hit the ages of 40s and 50s
Sunscreen at least twice daily. Rx Tretinoic acid 0.025%-0.05% at night. Vit C topical morning. Exercise daily, don’t smoke, limit alcohol. Oral Collagen if you’re not getting enough protein in your diet (50-60 g/day). You will still need medical aesthetic treatments, but this slow it down.
My lip filler had migrated and I always wondered what some of the reasons could be. Thank you for the informative video I now know I need to have it dissolved. But now I’m worried when you said it’s pretty much permanently made a pocket there now😰
Ally Mcbeal I’ve since had my filler dissolved and let me tell you it hurts! Waiting till I am cleared to get filler again. You typically have to wait 3 weeks post dissolve to get filler injected again.
@@qweeenb hey how did it go, did you get them done once again? Did the fillers dissolve completely after 3 weeks and are you happier with your new results?
@@pal020701 I had a fair amount of filler in my lips so it took me 3 rounds of dissolving till it was finally all out. But I have since then gotten them refilled again and they look amazing! My injector just different techniques on my lips since filler had already migrated on me before
I also believe it’s largely due to incorrect choice of product. In UK many people are using Revolax Deep for lips. Now any filler with the name ‘Deep’ surely should be implanted deeply, such as the periosteum or to bone..not in the lips!!! I always inject into the vermillion border to define it, and none of my patients have ever experienced migration.
I dont know if you can do that, but I'd love to hear your opinion on different brands for each area, especially because there is so little data on brands, and comparing G prime, durability, etc. I'm a young physician who is specialising in aesthetics - I've gotta long way to go! You said we should stick to thin products with low viscosity instead of thick ones? Which specific fillers do you recommend then? How do I know the difference between Juvederm, Restylane etc. ?
I really appreciated this video and information- I’m going to get my top lip filled Friday... I went last year for filler and asked for filler in mostly the top lip-but the injector put most in my bottom lip-which is already fuller- I left feeling really frustrated.. she said I could come back and buy another syringe for the top lip-I thought, forget it. We are wearing masks most of the time anyway.
I’ve got perfectha and it’s still in my lips after 2 years without a refill 🥲 it’s such a thick filler and the doctor told me that there’s a change that it will never go away 😫
I got 3 treatments in less than a year and here’s why: 1st one my doctor called it the base which disappeared completely after 3 months, he injected 1ml. 2nd treatment was about building up, he injected again 1 ml, this time was a visible difference but still didn’t got those voluminous lips. After 6 months my lips were looking almost like in the beginning. 3rd treatment was about “maintaining” the lips shape, did it at a distance of 6 months and got 0.8ml as he didn’t agree in injecting more. My question is how do you build a more voluminous lips without getting the filler migrated? I mean I already had 3 treatments, yes there is a difference but I’m afraid that if I ll keep going like this, my lips will be ruined soon.
I'm not a surgeon but I got a 1 ml base filler mostly concentrated in my upper lip. Then only 3 weeks after it was all healed I got another 1 ml. I was then advised to set up another appointment 6-8 months later. Not all of my filler was dissolved and I got 1ml. I now get touch ups of ONLY .5 ml every 8 months, usually, my upper lip begins to lose its height and fullness with an occasional refilling of the lower lip. I have an natural upper lip that completely disappears when I smile but since getting fillers done this way they look full. I would suggest a different doctor honestly if you're not getting the results you want regardless.
This is so informative. Haven't seen a better video on this topic. Thank you as always, really appreciate it. I'm based in Europe, hope some day to visit you 🤩, had very bad and prolonged migration after lip injections with plastic surgeons here so I dont trust easily anymore. Please, could you consider doing a video on how to smooth out lines on the chest? Are there any danger zones ? Techniques? Thanks for everything ...
Just wondering if its still necessary to dissolve fillers periodically to prevent migration and the formation of a "pocket" even if you're not getting them done regularly? Maybe once every 12-18 months?
I'm also wondering if it's necessary to dissolve and redo if i never intend to get them done again or regularly? like I'm satisfied with the smallest amount of fullness. will it still migrate and I'd need to redo the entire process?
Glad I watched this, I noticed migration in my lips only had them done twice and agree with you, better to get them dissolved. Will be more aware of this in practise also.
I really like this train of thought and the way it’s explained. I also agree with the comments around type and brand of filler. There are many out there and we all have our experiences with different brands and that’s great but it does depend a lot on the HA characteristics rather than just the brand.👍🏽
Love the insight, knowledge, and your thoughts! Thank you for sharing! I believe this should be a topic of discussion for individuals upon consultation so they know what they should be looking out for and they are better prepared for what to expect should they wish to have filler routinely. Thank you for creating this informative video! ☺️
im 57 and have lost my lip volume. i had filler done recently and absolutely love them. she didn't over fill my lips. they look natural. i think young folks are just getting too much filler and they look very unnatural. i don't think everyone is supposed to have huge lips. i mean there's only so much tissue to work with and remain natural looking. also, some practitioners don't really advise patients honestly. practicing professionals should advise their patients with more honesty instead of just reaching for that loot. real talk... ladies, do a little research before you trust someone with your face. it's the only one you have. 💕
I love every video you post! The way you explain, clear, precise and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and techniques. Do you have any video BOTOX lip flip? Thanks!
Honestly, an amazing, simple yet very clear explanation that teaches patients and physicians alike ! thank you very much doctor! you have a new subscriber from Tunisia !
Hey there - there is a video on just this topic which is produced by Dr Chan at the Victorian Cosmetic Institute in Australia, along with a colleague who has a cosmetic practice as well as being a radiologist. What they have found by using MRI imaging is very pertinent to your theories about filler migration.
Following because of how great this way. Thanks for being so honest and breaking it down the way you did. I’ve been wanting fillers for 2 years now but I hate that duck face look!
I just did my first training through the AAFE. Very excited to get in to this, but there is so much more to learn! Any recommendations you have to get the best possible lip training? Thank you!
So then why to remove filler if you can’t fit anymore filler if you eventually want more ? You mean desolve it and then do the same thing over again ? Even though you know it’s not going to be enough again ? Why not just keep it as it is ?
I workout a LOT, hot yoga, hiking, spin, Barr, and I weight train 4x a week, I had my lips filled with 1cc HA, 3 different times at about a year apart. Then I waited a year and a half for it to dissolve. I had to go in 3 different appointments last fall to dissolve the migrated filler in my upper lip. I still have filler left but my lips finally look natural. Over those 3 years my lips kept getting more "ducky" and my injectors just kept trying to balance them with more filler. If you have filler that doesn't look how you want it to, go ahead and get it dissolved, you'll be glad. Overall 5 years of lifting with bulking, cutting, and body recomping changed my waist and booty but definitely didn't change my filler situation.
On Spot content! TY so much. Awesome discernment. Do you think horizontal philtrum crease is due to migration or to much product? What would be a remedy?
I got a lip filler Hyaluronic acid, and it didn't work, like it looked good and a bit swollen at the beginning of the first 2 weeks, then it shrunk back down to exactly how it was to begin with! What reason can it be that this happened?..
I wish I knew about the frequency of getting filler I got my first half syringe in September 2020 then a syringe in March 2021 and then another syringe in august 2021. I feel like my filler is spreading to the outside corners of my mouth I hate having to think about getting them completely dissolved and then completely starting over when I finally got the size I wanted
My doctor used filler to outline my lips when I went to fill my laugh lines..I'm not exactly sure where he injected..felt like the border but my lips are naturally full and they are the same size but the outline is more crisp especially my bottom lip which I love because before they lacked definition. He used very little filler and told me I should be good for 12 months if not longer to keep the result of the lips natural..even for the smile lines he told me to hold off until 12 months. For reference I'm 40.
I’ve seen a lot of injectors using a technique called, “Russian Lips.” The lips are always extremely sharp and defined, is this achieved by adding filled to the vermillion border (the part where you spread the lips and see the white area?) And I may have missed it in the video but are there higher risks of migration associated with this Russian Lips technique? Thank you so much!!!! Sincerely, A Future Injector :)
I too would love an answer for this, and what people could do instead if they want similar results. I have heard mixed things, but it seems many injectors do claim that injecting into the border increases risk for migration because the lips are stretched beyond their potential. However, I feel like the other techniques that "anti-russianlips" doctors/injectors promote give results that are WAY too minimal (what they call natural), it looks like they've put rose tinted lip gloss on. I don't agree with pushing the idea that conservative lip fillers are the only way to go. Some people want a dramatic difference, just like how people with big noses go in for a rhinoplasty and come out with a small one, or flat-chested girls get a boob job and come out with D cups.
hi! from what i've seen from top injectors online, RLT is awful and promotes more migration in the long-run. my injector (based in texas and has national recognition) HATES rlt for that reason. :)
Hi Jenn, Great question. Personally, I like some of the Russian Lip techniques. Some techniques are done with a lot of filler in the V border, and others not so much. I feel that placing too much filler in the V border does increase your chance of superficial migration though. All the best, Dan Julien NP
That is what I did 1 syringe I didn’t even think I would need a whole one, but I did and they’re telling me I’ll probably be back in three months and there right ❤🎉
This is great information and i completely agree. I have a ton of migration at this point and I don't know how to fix it. How do i get the filler dissolved that has migrated (technique on targeting specific areas)?
As an African American woman (speaking on behalf of many other BWomen) I can recall a time when the beauty standards trends and media would make fun and crack jokes about having full lips. Mic Jagger was so odd that he decided to make lots of money off his "deformity" There were common not-so-funny Sunday comics and/or comedians joking about _natural big lips_ of Black/African or other indigenous folks (in real life) on tv like national geographics. Fast Forward, and geez how times have changed. Access to big lips is an epidemic. Old/Young... Fill em up, doc! 👄💉💋
Once the product has migrated above the vermilion border, does it ever dissolve on its own or you have to dissolve? Why does it tend to stay? Love your videos! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the info! Which filler would you recommend for thin m-shaped lips? I had 0.55 ml Juvederm injected 2 months ago but I am not sure I'm happy with it as I got the feeling that my lips look different every day. I can also already see some migration. Would you recommend getting the filler dissolved and going for a different product?
You would do best with a thin filler at first. Then moving your way up. It’s entirely up to you. If you’re not satisfied l, you have the right to look around
I am so curious about causes of filler migration down in the lip ie, little bumps visible of the filler "falling" a couple weeks after injection? Additionally, are there evidence supported protocols for frequency of dissolving filler? Thank you for the video!

im 57 and have lost my lip volume. i had filler done recently and absolutely love them. she didn't over fill my lips. they look natural. i think young folks are just getting too much filler and they look very unnatural. i don't think everyone is supposed to have huge lips. i mean there's only so much tissue to work with and remain natural looking. also, some practitioners don't really advise patients honestly. practicing professionals should advise their patients with more honesty instead of just reaching for that loot. real talk... ladies, do a little research before you trust someone with your face. it's the only one you have. 💕
Thank you so much for breaking all this down !!! I feel like I can responsibly pursue fillers with a little more understanding. 👍👍
You really are the best! I always look forward to watching your vids because I just learn so much from you. Please continue to do this 🙏🏻
Thank you so much doctor you re helping people all over the world, love and respect from Morocco ❤🙏
👍👍👍👍👍👍rgrgrgr
Go for resralyne kysse
Thank you so much for the information!! How frequent do you suggest to have the lips done? Maybe once a year?
I just did my first training through the AAFE. Very excited to get in to this, but there is so much more to learn! Any recommendations you have to get the best possible lip training? Thank you!
hi Joy! Posso falar com você, sobre o treinamento?
Can you do a video where you explain why patients get lumps and how to avoid it?
So then why to remove filler if you can’t fit anymore filler if you eventually want more ?
You mean desolve it and then do the same thing over again ? Even though you know it’s not going to be enough again ?
Why not just keep it as it is ?
Which is the filler that has the bad "rap" for being too hydrophilic/inflammatory?
Juvederm
I totally agree, I prefer Restylane Kysse, and Belotero for the mature older client@@danestheticsmedical
never had it dissolved after several filling appointments and lips still look good
Do you think that working out 5x a week of cardio and strength training makes the fillers whether cheeks or lips easily dissolve?
Here for the reply.
Yes. They say if your doing high cardio itll dissolve faster. Its a metabolism thing i think.
Very informative i love your videos , your voice is very soothing and calm...🤗
Thank you, Dan, for all the educational videos you did! I'm a huge fan! Thank you and best wishes!
On Spot content! TY so much. Awesome discernment. Do you think horizontal philtrum crease is due to migration or to much product? What would be a remedy?
No, that’s because your depressor septi nasi muscle. It pulls too much. Place some toxin under the mid base of the nose. It will relax it.
@@danestheticsmedical Omg! Your freakin' Rich Slay Mind! TY! U rock
6:03 answered good advice. lotta of videos didn’t mention!!
Informative videos. Thank you for making this channel. 👍
What do you mean by "dissolving" the filler? Waiting for naturally to be resorbed or using hyaluronidase?
the implants instead of the normal filler can solve the problem?
Great video doctor!!! so helpful and super detail oriented
Why would anyone repeat this? Does the fillers effect diminish? If the filler is still there why repeat the procedure?
Thank you for sharing different experiences, most people say they are good but why they are good,no idea
Always so informative! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! 👍
Sincerely,
A Future Injector :)
I’ve been trying to find research on this but can’t find it anywhere, would love to know the answer!!
All the best,
Dan Julien NP
I recently got it done so we will find out 😹
This was very informative. Thanks for the effort you put forth
Believe me you are one of the best. keep doing it.
Thank you for the information👏 and l wish you would make avedio for the denger zones of bitox anf filler injection
People use to make fun of my big lip. I feel so insecure of my big lip. And now I am glad that I have thick lip :)
Great video doc! Very informative thank you!
Q: Does frequent downward massage of the lips after the fact help in reversing migration?
It’s not proven to help
Great explanation...Blessings from Australia 🇦🇺
Can massaging the lips each day prevent spread? Just gently with your finger tips to push the migration?
It’s never been proven
Dan, you are such a gem!!! 💎
Can you maybe make a video about massaging your lips after fillers?
👍🏼
Once the product has migrated above the vermilion border, does it ever dissolve on its own or you have to dissolve? Why does it tend to stay? Love your videos! Thank you so much!
can your cheeks get swollen? cuz half of my face is after lip filler injection
What if it has been 2-3 years since last fillers, should you still get it dissolved
I’m curious do chin fillers migrate too?
what we can do ?> just wait the time pass and desolve ollone??? what is help for that
How long we need to desolve filler !!??
Always amazing content. thank you.
Absolutely insightful information!
Thank u so much for all this information.i appreciate
Love your videos. Could you tell me which filler are you using for lip ? Many thanks
I just love you! Thank you for all those wonderful informations ! Please dont stop👍😊
Thanks!
can this happen with filler in the nose.? I feel like the filler migrated to the lower part of my nose...it just seems bigger than usual
Same here. I’ve just had my nose filler dissolved on my bridge. It has dissolved considerably. And question If my nose looks flatter than before.
biggest mistake i ever made was getting nose filler !
I am so curious about causes of filler migration down in the lip ie, little bumps visible of the filler "falling" a couple weeks after injection? Additionally, are there evidence supported protocols for frequency of dissolving filler? Thank you for the video!
There are no protocols for how often you should dissolve fillers. It’s likely misplaced filler if it was a couple weeks after.
omg you're like the real life christian troy
That's why I opened the video omg he looks like him!!! 😍😍😍
Ahahah IDENTICAL!
