    The scene with Skinny Pete playing the piano has such a deep meaning that I've only seen one video essay recognize. It shows that he had so much potential for a better life, but it was wasted away for meth.

    Walt's ability to chalk up convincing lies by stitching together unrelated truthful events is unparalleled. Not only did he use the Ted Beneke accident answer away Skyler's breakdown but he also made it awkward enough for Marie that she'll never ask Skyler about it. He doesn't care in the meantime that he's putting Skyler in a bad look here.

    Walt is a genius and yet so stupid. How he can't see that paying those nine guys is important to the security of their operation always boggles my mind. So arrogant, so drunk on some imaginary power that he doesn't have.

      He would rather threaten or kill them, he doesn't want to give any of his money to people he doesn't know (even though he has more than enough).

      Maybe if he accepted his position at Gray Matter, or even involved himself in the car wash, orrrr involved Skyler in the financials, he might have gained some experience/understanding on overhead expenditures

    While it is not clear if Gus ordered his "guys" to take out Tomas or not, there are pretty telling clues that point to it. The main one is I don't think his "guys" would eliminate the boy without Gus's ok. Also, Gus doesn't take chances, and the boy knew everything about their street dealing, and was the type of kid who "BRAGGED" about the killing of combo and was proud of being part of the organization. Without a doubt he was a loose end.
    At 4:20 you bring up that Gus says "are you asking me if I would order the murder of a child?!" Like he was shocked about the question. I honestly think the shock is that someone of Walt's stature would have the balls to question Gus, not so much that him ordering the hit is unthinkable.
    Lastly, Jessie IMMEDIATELY assumes Gus ordered the hit on Tomas, and Jessie's gut is almost always right. The reason why Walt, Jessie, the audience, etc...assume Gus ordered the hit is primarily because anyone who works for him knows it is an automatic "end of life sentence" to make any major decisions without Gus's ok. Even Mike knows that Gus is very, very dangerous and even hesitates to ask important questions just because it might anger Gus.
    I believe Gus's #1 priority is his business and will do any and everything to protect it...including killing a DEA agent and going to war with a powerful drug cartel to protect it.
    P.S. I think before Max was taken out by Hector, Gus would NEVER of been capable of such a thing. However, after that happened, Gus is capable of anything, especially to protect his own interests. Remember, he said he would never make the same mistake twice.

    I always took away from the show that Gus was gay and that's why he was so vengeful of the cartel killing his partner.

    I honestly believe a lot of viewers completely misread the conversation between Walt & Jessie (about his relationship with Andrea). I don't believe Walt is manipulating Jessie to dump her because she knows that Jessie is into "something". Remember, she has NO idea of the details of their operation. What Walt is telling Jessie IMO, is either tell her everything and jump in with both feet, or move on. Just like with Skylar, being in this business, you can't keep things from your partner, otherwise it will ruin your relationship.

    • @dariusz_darson_8968
      @dariusz_darson_8968 29 днів тому +4

      He's manipulating him. There is stuff open for interpretation and there isn't. That's one of those case when it really isn't. Walt protects his business. He's very well aware what happened with Jane. She didn't know anything either and guess what, Jesse told her everything when he dropped the ball and started getting high with her etc, which ultimately leads to her blackmailing Walt)
      Surely Walt doesn't want it to happen again, ESPECIALLY after he got involved by poisoning Brock.
      It's CLEAR AS DAY he was subtly manipulating Jesse 🤷‍♂️

      @@dariusz_darson_8968 Just like when he talked his son out of going to Marie's. He told his son he had cancer and knew that his son would no longer be interested in leaving the house. Walter White is the devil.

  • @SteffBrockley
    @SteffBrockley 29 днів тому +1

    I always assumed Walt just wanted to put distance between him and Brock, which is why he manipulated Jesse to leave Andrea. Sometimes Walt’s bad at lying, but he’s best when he lies with the truth like he does with Marie in this episode.
    I always liked the idea of the fumigation cooks because it shows Walt corrupting more and more innocent people’s lives- which he’s always done. But now he’s purposely affecting the general population.
    The kids toys at Gus’s - it always felt to me that maybe the writers hadn’t fleshed out the character’s life much in Season 3 when we first see his house. Then in Season 4 there wasn’t really room in the story for Gus to have a family, so the writers left it to the audience to conclude it was a manipulation tactic. It works because it’s still on-brand for Gus.

    • @XxOnyxStudiosxX

      Walt is very bad at lying in the beginning, but he's very good at it by this point. But he's also lost a lot of trust from everyone around him.

      @@SteffBrockley I'd argue that his lies only don't work at this point because of the lack of trust. If he was this good at lying at the start, I don't think anyone would've doubted him.
