  • This movie was a fun time! It definitely wasn't groundbreaking like Flashpoint Paradox but seeing all the heroes fight together was very entertaining. I'm glad that I got to see Cyborg's origin story.. Kind of reminds me of the relationship I have with my own father. Enjoy the video!

    My question about Cyborg had nothing to do with his race.
    I was genuinely curious to why he was on this team and personally think he works better with the Teen Titans (on that team he comes off as the strongest member).
    In this movie he felt kind of thrown in (imo). I love his character and was happy to see his origin (which is very relatable to me) I just wasn’t a big fan of how he was placed in this movie specifically.
    I hope you guys don’t think it was an attack on his character or me being racist

      Cyborg was always the oldest of the Teen Titans, and in the comics he's been a member of the Justice League for a pretty long time at this point, plus Batman is sometimes Hackerman, but the League don't really have a tech-based hero that works with machines in it's starting lineup, while the Titans have relatively younger heroes in their lineup that can fill his prior role like Blue Beetle. And what's been Cyborg's origin story for a while now links him heavily to Apocalypse.
      And for commenters; No, Flash doesn't count as a 'Tech Hero' just because he got his powers in a freak chemical accident, and the Green Lantern doesn't count either. The Ring itself may be tech-based, but Hal 'Run into a wall headfirst' Jordan is by no means a Tech Hero, his ring's scan feature is the closest we get before he makes a giant boxing glove to hit people with. Batman is the closest Hero to fit the bill, but not to the sci-fi level most tech-focused heroes are.

      If I remember correctly, The New 52 had this "Mysterious monster story" that eventually turned out to be the Martian Man Hunter.
      I believe it was an homage, in Martian Manhunter's original origin story, when he's accidentally teleported to Earth, he scares the scientist so bad the poor old man has a heart attack and dies. So they took that fear aspect, and stretched it out into an entire story. It kind of reminds me of how the Avengers originally teamed up to stop "Monster" Hulk, only for Hulk to join the team when they realize Loki is the real threat.

    When Barry undid Flashpoint, it rest the continuity from scratch. This is something DC does often, they reboot their comics with Crisis Events stories to keep the characters fresh for the current audiences, even if it means altering origin stories a bit. More recently or so they’ve suggested the characters now remember all past continuities.

As Green Lantern, Hal Jordan has faced numerous adversaries, both terrestrial and extraterrestrial, including villains like Sinestro, Hector Hammond, and the various incarnations of the villainous Parallax entity. It was an attempt to bring on New Readers by starting a new series of continuity....so in that Universe, Batman and Superman didn't know each other. The thinking on using Cyborg is his powerset, talking to any machine, makes more sense in the modern world with the Internet and WiFi, etc.

Now he has been the laughingstock of Pop Culture for a decade, and it's driving me nuts because they don't really know anything about him and how awesome he is.

    Something else important I think you should know.
    Back before streaming services, movie Sequels often struggled to succeed financially. Because people couldn't easily watch the previous movie beforehand, they would forget important plot points, and be confused by the sequel. (It's not a coincidence that Netflix and the MCU both got popular around the same time)
    So most movies were written and marketed as self-contained stories. If you look up DC animated movies, Unless they were a part of the very successful and beloved DCAU, the early movies were almost all self contained. Which means you can go back and watch them whenever you want because they are not connected to anything. Obviously that changed with the DCAMU, and then the Tomorrowverse.
    Another thing worth knowing. DC animated Movie Film *Budgets* are an important factor in how some of these movies turned out. The old movies had Larger Budgets. The New movies are paid for with pocket lint.

    Shazam, also known as Captain Marvel, is a beloved superhero in the DC Comics universe. At the core of this character is Billy Batson, a young orphan who encounters an ancient wizard named Shazam. Entrusting Billy with incredible powers, the wizard grants him the ability to transform into the superhero Shazam by uttering the wizard's name.
    When Billy becomes Shazam, he undergoes a magical transformation, becoming an adult with immense powers. These powers are drawn from various mythological figures, each representing a different aspect: the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury.
    What makes Shazam unique is the contrast between his childlike innocence and the immense responsibility he carries as a superhero. Billy Batson's journey is often about navigating the challenges of growing up while also facing the pressures and dangers of being a superhero.

    The DCMAU is based on the New 52 comic book stories. Which is why many of the changes you didn't know of are because of this new comic continuity. Basically to simplify it, Barry changed the timeline and he forgot it happened. Just think of it that way, beucase you'll never get a concrete and simple explanation in the movies. Starting now everything that happens will be important. Every death is going to stick in this movie series. Heroes and villains that die in these movies don't expect theme to come back.
    And if you want a good origin story of Shazam then you should watch the live action movie. The animated series doesn't really cover it well, so the live action is the place to go for his origins.

    21:16, I don't really know to be honest, I only know that Cyborg boomed in popularity in the early to mid 2000's thanks to the Teen Titans show and the fact that he had a few supporting roles in a few Justice League movies and comics.

  • @eonnexus
    @eonnexus 15 днів тому

    You remember how the "time boom" Flash caused in Flashpoint changed the events of the past? Him fixing the timeline caused something similar. Things are close to how they were before, but not the same. We're seeing the past of the world he gave Batman the letter to, that scene doesn't happen till right before the final movie in this timeline.
    Cyborg was reimagined as a Justice League Member starting with the New 52 comic reboot, which this movie series is based on, giving us the Mother-Box origin as a way to directly tie him to Darkside.
    Shazam in Flashpoint is different from usual, normally Billy Batson is the main/only kid that can turn into Shazam, each letter of his name representing a god that lends him their power, but he CAN share his powers with others, which he tends to do with his siblings. (If you want a good Shazam Origin movie, the live action fil is pretty good.) In Flashpoint, this was changed so that each of the 6 siblings are tied to a single letter/god, and all merge into one.
    Imma be real, you completely list me with the timeline theory, i had no idea what i listening to. XD But Aquaman and the Atlantis situation is unrelated to what happened in Flashpoint, they'll be explained in the next JL movie, Throne of Atlantis.

    These movies are loosely based on the New 52 comics. So basically after Flashpoint, the timeline changed again (that's why Flash's suit looked different at the end when he gave Bruce the letter) and the movies after are the New 52 timeline. One thing this movie changed was they swapped Aquaman with Shazam (in the comics they have a separate Shazam comic that explains his backstory). It also made more sense cos they used Aquamans trident and wonder woman's sword to stab Darkseids eyes instead of a random crowbar. As for Cyborg, New 52 was when he became a Justice League member because, his origin involves the motherboxes and Darkseid, etc. Cyborg actually replaced Martian Manhunter cos, that dude was put on another team in New 52. John Stewart is cool but, sadly they didn't have him in this universe much.
    Overall, the comics were better and did a lot more but, the movies are fun. I'd actually recommend reading New 52 on an app or something. It's a lot but, at least it's sort of condensed to its own section. New 52 Aquaman and Wonder Woman were such good comics.

Also your question about why he's on the team instead of John Stewart is oddly racist because you're actually choosing one black hero over the other. It would make more sense to question why Hal Jordan is on the team instead of John Stewart since they're both Green Lanterns or why Cyborg is on the team instead of Martian Manhunter. Otherwise, why can't two black heroes be on the same team.

      @@9791mij Ah yes. That was a Super Friends cartoon, which while based on the Justice League...never actually was the Justice League. The whole story behind that is in the 80's..Kenner Toys and DC came up with a toy line called Super Powers. So DC decided to do some cross promotion...they added the newest figures (I believe Cyborg was v3) to their comics and cartoons. Cyborg was featured in The New Teen Titans which was DC Comics top selling title at the time. They had limited series comics...I know v1 was a 5 issue mini series, I don't recall how many were in v2 and v3. They were OUTSIDE the regular DC Comics continuity. Even in those comics, which were made to introduce new fans of the toys to the characters, they pointed fans to the regular comics that the toys were featured in...in Cyborg's case, The New Teen Titans. The cartoon was an expansion of The Super Friends series which DID start in the 70's. The Super Friends...not the Justice League. The Super Friends used a lot of the Justice League characters in their show, but also had some that never appeared in the comics. So for simplicity sake a lot of places link The Super Friends cartoons to the Justice League. As an example...the Super Powers toyline, and comic mini series, also included Dr. Fate. He was a founding member of the Justice SOCIETY from the 1940's. He resided on Earth-2, while the later Justice League was on Earth-1...until the original Crisis on Infinite Earths event merged all the multi-verse Earths into a single Earth. So...in reality...Cyborg first joined the Justice League in the New 52 era, which these movies are based on, which was in 2011 or 2012. Confusing I know...and even the DC main website shows DC Super Powers mini series as Justice League related...as does the Wikipedia page. Technically true over all, but context isn't given on ALL aspects of the cartoon, toys, or comics. Wow...sorry for the long windedness. I'm not trying to prove you wrong or me right, just trying to add a little context you may not know of.

    1. Superman's cocky attitude.
    2. Hal Jordan being Dumb.
    3. Cyborg's New Origin Story. (I prefer the version of his origin where his mother dies in the same explosion that turns him into a Cyborg).

Doubling His father being a guilt-tripping bastard, "I saved your Life" & "I'm the only family you have left since your mother/ my wife died".

  • @UniverseChronology
    @UniverseChronology 16 днів тому

    Just to answer a couple questions you asked:
    1: Cyborg is in the Justice League because of the New 52. In 2011, DC Comics rebooted their comic continuity with Flashpoint leading to the New 52. The reboot of the Justice League comics started with showing the new origin of the Justice League in the New 52 and that was adapted into this movie. Cyborg was a Justice League founder in that story, so he's also a founder here. (although, Aquaman was also a founder of the League in that story but this movie replaced it with Captain Marvel/Shazam). As for why the New 52 made Cyborg a founding member of the League, I'm not entirely sure, I assume it was to add more diversity into the League since the original Justice League founders were mainly white people with the exception of Martian Manhunter who would disguise himself as white. Don't know why they didn't just switch Hal out for John Stewart in that case but whatever. I definitely prefer him to start as a Teen Titans member and then becoming a League member later with some of his fellow Titans members, the New 52 completely ruined the Teen Titans and it took them a LONG time to recover.
    2: After Flashpoint, Barry tried to put the timeline back to normal but it didn't quite work like that and the timeline was altered again, this time not being as horrible as the Flashpoint timeline, but still vastly different and Barry's memories adjusted to the new timeline. It's unclear when this film takes place in regards to the last scene of the Flashpoint film, but I would assume this is before Barry gives Bruce the note meaning before OG Timeline Barry merges with current timeline Barry. So, this Barry is technically not the Barry from the Flashpoint movie but this is the universe that was created by the events of Flashpoint and Barry will eventually remember the events of Flashpoint. At least, that's what I'm assuming happened, but we do know that this Barry at some point gets the memories of Flashpoint Barry.
    3: The ending scene is a set up for the events of Justice League: The Throne of Atlantis with nothing to do with the Flashpoint timeline, I have no idea why that scene was framed like we saw the king die at some point in one of the prior films, but we didn't.
    4: The DCAMU has a sorta weird reputation. Some people absolutely love it, some view it as more of a mixed bag, some absolutely despise it. The critic rating for the franchise overall averages at like a 7/10, so overall it's still considered good. I recommend just forming your own opinion, but I'll give a bit of an explanation for why some people don't like this film in particular. One of people's many problems with this universe in general is the major focus on Batman. There are 4 Batman films in this universe which doesn't sound like too much but most other heroes or teams get only 1 film for themselves besides the Justice League obviously. The only ones with more than 1 film are the Teen Titans and Superman, both of which only having 2. People's problem with this film in particular comes from just how basic it is, Darkseid invades and a bunch of heroes stop them, basically just a giant action scene that stretches across the entire film with a lack of any real character development which didn't give some people much hope in the future of this universe. Also, people HATED the New 52 and this film directly adapted a New 52 storyline which left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of comic fans and that bitterness kinda spread throughout the entire DCAMU for some fans. Most of the films aren't actually adapting new 52 comics, in fact majority of the universe is either adapting Pre-New 52 stuff or making completely original stories, but this film certainly put the idea in the minds of a lot of comic fans that these films just wouldn't be something they'd be into.
    5: Fun fact, the Cyborg origin was a little different prior to the New 52, aside from him not originally being a founding member of the Justice League, he also wasn't originally rebuilt with the Mother Box, it was just some Bio-Prosthetics. This change has sense been in every version of his origin in every adaptation including the DCEU and Young Justice and I really do like the change as it gives Cyborg even cooler powers.
    6: The Shazam Kids thing was just in this Flashpoint timeline, in this timeline and in mainline comics, Billy Batson is the only one that turns into Captain Marvel/Shazam. The other kids can also turn into their own versions of Shazam like Mary Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr, Freddy Marvel, etc. Also, if you're curious why I'm saying Captain Marvel/Shazam, it's because Billy's superhero name originally was Captain Marvel but after a long series of legal issues that I won't go into the title of the comic had to be changed to Shazam and eventually DC just decided to name the hero Shazam as well in the New 52.
    7: As for Shazam's origin since I'm pretty sure that isn't explained in any of the films, I'll be brief and I'll be giving the New 52 origin since this film was based on the New 52 Justice League story, so it's probably taking from that origin. Billy is a moody and troubled 15 year old foster child in Philadelphia who went through several foster homes. Dr. Sivana unleashes Black Adam from his tomb and the Wizard of the Rock of Eternity starts looking for candidates to become a champion to fight against Black Adam. He summons Billy who is considered and unsuitable candidate due to him being moody and troubled but Billy is able to convince him that he wouldn't find any perfectly good people. The Wizard gets desperate and sees the embers of good in Billy and just gives him the powers, allowing him to say the word Shazam to turn into the Champion of Shazam.

However Darkside comes from outside any one universe and by nature the power he wields is grater than the gauntlet not bound to one universe since it comes from a higher plane the Omega Effect a multiversal force of power and entropy capable of doing anything the gauntlet does manipulating time space energy matter minds souls erasing from existence ect. that transforms the one who holds it in to a manifestation of evil and tyranny.

People whine about the same old same then cry about "this doesn't match the character i know or grew up with" when they try something different. Batman carried a gun is his beginning and killed,wonder woman was more combative at first,superman couldn't fly but leap.when they tried to tell stories about those beginnings people who didnt grow up with those traits for these characters hated it. Maybe expand your mind and instead of saying that a hero or villian doesn't act that way because i seen him at different in my 20 -30 years of comic book reading Maybe remember those characters are especially most dc characters are around since the 1930's -40's and just go with it. There are a lot of animated movies that you should watch but unfortunately this isn't one of them. This is where the animated movies started to adapt the comics they needed to sell at the time which was the promotion of their rebranding with their New 52 line. The New 52 is a failed rebranding of DC comics and every movie following this one are all based around New 52 comics. The quality of the movies dips considerably. I will list the movies that you absolutely must watch.

    Superman: Red Son

    Justice League: Doom
    You've already watched Flashpoint Paradox and Red Hood and that would also be in that list. But the rest are garbage. Justice League War is when it all started going down hill. You have to react to the Dc showcase called Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam. Shazam is the name of the Wizard that gave Billy his powers. His Hero name used to be captain Marvel he was the og captain marvel back in the 1940's but for Legally reasons they couldn't use the name anymore because Of Marvel being pissy.

    Love the Batman movies in this universe. It's different but it's still Batman. And Damien's growth throughout this series is so fun and heartwarming. Everything else in the universe is hit or miss for me, but Robin was one of the reasons I stuck it out.

    It's funny how Hal says to Batman, you're the only one of us without powers....except Green Lantern HAS NO POWERS, his powers come from the ring, anyone who wears it can do the same thing. Batman could wear the ring, hell Batman has worn the Lantern rings before, briefly and dear GOD it makes Batman unstoppable lol. Hal Jordan is just a human like Bruce.

      You're ignorant. It's the hero not the ring. In comics (geoff johns run) Hal gave his ring to Bruce for a moment and the ring rejected him because Bruce wouldn't let go of his greatest fear, loosing his parents and his loved ones, because that fear motivates him to become batman. And as the guy above said, he is considered the greatest green lantern of all time by every member of the green lantern Corp for a reason.

    • @ItApproaches
      @ItApproaches 21 день тому

      @@jhngrg8132 I was speaking on the other lantern rings Batman has worn. He has won the Green, Black, Yellow and White lantern ring before.

    • @jhngrg8132
      @jhngrg8132 21 день тому

      @@ItApproaches so what? Hal has worn a green, a blue, a red, an orange, a white and a black ring before. Where's your argument? I will say this again. You're ignorant. It takes a lot of practice to master the ring and the user must have strong will power and be concentrated. Otherwise the constructs are weak. Hal Jordan was also the only green lantern in history that overcame the yellow impurity (if you exclude sinestro who made parallax his pet).

    Yeah, your chat fucking lied to you. THIS was the first movie in this story of animated movies. iirc Throne of Atlantis is next.

    • @kermitgotthesickkicks4265

      So this is a new timeline. This movie tells the story of how the Justice League met each other. Also Barry "coming back" from Flashpoint happens later on in the timeline. What I mean by that is that years have gone by and they've all had lives and then suddenly memories of Barry's time in Flashpoint come back to him and that's when he delivers the letter to Batman, if that makes sense. So yeah the chat told the truth.

    • @NonPlayerCharlie
      @NonPlayerCharlie 21 день тому

      @@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 the only relation Flashpoint has with this was being a DC property. When War was announced it was to launch a new era in animation. Hence all the repeat castings after this, hence the style and look.
      Bro getting mad because they take Wikipedia entries at face value without understanding context. Flashpoint is.. just a movie that coincidentally came out at the beginning of the N52 era. War was the actual relaunch. Look how confused this fool was. He couldn’t even comprehend Cyborg in the lineup. That’s on YALL for introducing a newbie going from Batman into allat. God forbid yall mention Year One. Nope, just google “best DC animated movie” here you go 😂😂😂
