one of the best tricks for making phonk : put an eq that cuts out the highs and a tape emulation or something like supervhs on the master before making the beat. it helps a lot with soundselection
I feel like you're really hitting your stride on making these videos Navie. I was watching an older video a couple days ago to reference something, and you've come along with your video quality, your comfort in front of a camera, expressing your personality and just overall vibe. Great job dude!
Great tutorial, it would be really cool to see you also cover the less popular genres of Phonk. 99% of tutorials I’ve seen have been drift phonk, but I recommend taking a listen to artists like SOUDIERE, Roland Jones, Berrymane, 1ONY, etc. These artists are what made me start making beats, and phonk definitely deserves some recognition beyond what is blowing up right now.
@@xanmancan Those artists and DJ Smokey are pioneers of the Phonk genre and they make Phonk in the best way that is more true to its origin of Memphis Rap. They don’t rely on only the cowbells so they can make a wider selection sounds as long as it has a vocal sample. Drift Phonk isn’t as good and is repetitive as that style of Phonk is what made it go viral/mainstream on TikTok etc. So now everyone is making Drift Phonk.
Hey that was a Gem when you used the FL eq to find the key of the cowbell. Thanks for this video. this is a deep dive into PHONK. Really appreciate this one. Thanks again
to find the pitch in something you can also go into edison and open the sound there. Then open the region settings and down there is a setting that says detect pitch regions. I use this for 808s and other sounds to find the key

Just that alone is an incredibly helpful tip. I know you've gone over it before but have always seemed to forget it. This one will stick this time around. Will be using that for a ton of sounds now.
