NOTE: On console you can get the skeleton bow by dropping the "Spellthief" shortbow on the ground and having the skeleton pick it up, and then pick pocketing the makeshift bow from the skeleton afterwards. This WILL mean that you lose the spellthief bow though. (Thanks @Nerocrossius for the info)
Dang! You’re definitely more big brained than I!😮 I was just playing and thinking I have no freaking use for the spell thief because no spell casters I use have proficiency and now I have a use for it. Well played sir, well played.
@@XSR_RUGGER Another use for the Spellthief specifically if playing in a low rest/no rest game: Turn on non-lethal damage, knock out all enemies in a fight. After the fight equip spellthief on your caster and go within 5 feet of a knocked out person. Then shoot them and get an automatic critical for a guaranteed spellslot back. Now switch to the next caster and the next downed enemy. Not too relevant unless trying to go without resting too much, but fun regardless.
We start out with one of the simplest builds of the party. Pure Ranger (Hunter-Hordebreaker). Most of the bells and whistles here are about how to get the weapons and how to optimize the Raven pet. If playing Solo you should absolutely use some more items on this build (like Whispering Promise), but I am making these builds with a full party in mind, so I am using them on the builds where they have the most impact. Better use a lesser action on another char to buff this gal, than have her waste actions on it herself for instance. This build plays very nicely, and i love the minigame of trying to set up an optimal hordebreaker turn. If you really want to optimize find a ranged enemy to stand in melee with after each of your turns to bait Opportunity attacks. That's primarily what the flameblade is there for (or in case you yourself get stuck in melee).
Very cool build .... I always make Laezel a Gloomstalker with your specs , with the right gear she solo's a few fights early and seems more accurate in the darker areas. Well explained , thank you
Yeah I think I had her as a gloomstalker back in my duo run as well. That subclass is amazing! If you are playing full party and unmodded it is definitely a better choice than hordebreaker as the fights end so fast. +3 initiative is also very amazing!
Yeah i am not really a fan of Mods in general either. But I must admit that the difficulty mods I’m using on my new play through really make the game enjoyable again. Actually challenging enemies without having to limit myself or play without a party is quiet fun.
Thanks :-) Glad you like them :-) this one is a little bit vanilla (no multiclassing!?) But I wanted to make the four strongest low rest builds I could, using only stuff available in/before the grove. And this was definitely up there. :-)
(Edit: This build could utilize the void bulbs found on the nautiloid and from looting mindflayers) So I’m guessing getting the bow from the skeleton is not possible on console? We don’t have the same nimbleness in our UI.
I read one Way to get the bow on pc was by using a controller. So it May be possible. Try checking the bg3.wiki under makeshift bow. I have never tried though. And yes the bulbs are strong for this. As is a thrower in your party to toss enemies together :-) I have both coming (sort of) in the other builds.
@ I’ll have to give it a try. Does the UI change with controller use on computer? Console UI uses radials and there is no drag and drop functionality so I didn’t think it would work. I am glad to have found your channel and can’t wait for the next installments. This is the creative stuff I really like for builds and is something different than what’s out there from what I’ve seen.
@@ShandrensCorneryeah I’m currently trying but console UI doesn’t allow drag and drop actions so we cannot get the bow or use any other exploit utilizing that function. That doesn’t mean this build won’t work, just that we need to find a different ranged weapon for the additional damage. Thank you for discussing it with me though!
This build is specifically meant for the very early game. And I would suggest just changing to another build later on. Or growing this into another build if you prefer.
Elves dont get +1 to attack with bows. They get proficiency, which you get from ranger as well. Astarion specifically would be stronger due to his bite ability (happy buff: + 1 to all attacks). But I use him for another build :-)

This is the type of video I’ve been looking for, looking forward to more!
Awesome. There should be at least the next 3 builds coming. I'm just slow at the whole editing thing.
Welcome back!
Great and unusual build from the start! Also voice and editing are really good! Thank you!
Thank YOU :-) that has got to be the first time ever my editing has been called good :-P but glad you liked it

@@ShandrensCorner Yeah I like Mod free and pure builds .... that means trying different party structures and challenges which I enjoy !

how in the far realms did people figure out how to do the things with the weapons?!?
Probably mostly by chance and numbers. And then some people actively hunt for edge cases and try to find weird interactions. :-)

I’m afraid I don’t know. I would think so, but have never tried I don’t really do controllers :-)

Originally it was a melee build using flame blade. And had dual hand crossbows for a (very weak) offhand shot with its bonus action.
What gear would you recommend for act 2 and 3?

why not use an elf here if the bow is the dmg dealer, wont you get another +1 on attack?
