  • Ahoy legends! We pick back up this week for part two of our trip where we find out there is Always a bigger fish as the deep water fishing gets crazy!
After a red hot session deep dropping we decided to set a swordfish bait out to see what would happen. Sure enough 20mins later the rod keeled over and we were on! 4.5hours fight later we finally got a look at what the culprit was and we couldn’t believe our eyes!!
Then later that night the rod went off again!!!
I hope you enjoy the video legends! It was pretty epic to catch 2 deep water critters in 1 day!! Stoked to have shown you the action!

That shark was attacked by a giant squid. I can tell for 2 reasons. The backbone cartilage of the shark was left intact and the circle of flesh removed near the eye is clearly a from a large squid beak

Seeing this video and the title for it reminds me of my one fishing trip when I was 16. This was back in 1989. I was at the cabin with family and I was out on the lake trolling for trout with lures. I was out maybe 30 minutes and I got my first bite. It felt like the normal size for that lake about 500 grams. While reeling it in I fell another bite. Or it could have just gotten snagged on something. Nope. After working it for about 20 minutes I finally get it to the side of the boat. No one ever havs caught anything that big so I didn't have a net with me since 500 grams is like the average keepers up there. So lucky for me the fish had swallowed the hook so far that the only way I was going to lose it is if my line snapped which I'm surprised that it didn't because my line was not tested for a fish this size. So I secure my pole, lean over the side of the boat and lift it in with both hands. I was small for my age only 5 ft 6 inches tall. After getting it into the boat I looked for my hook and it's all the way in its stomach because I couldn't see it at all so I just cut the line. So I drive back to the cabin ful speed with my feet on the fish because it wasn't going anywhere. That fish was going to be dinner for the family. So when I came back as quickly as I did, my uncle who was sitting on the dock sunbathing asked, back all ready? Catch anything? As he stopped the boat from hitting the dock he saw what I had caught. It was to big for even him to snapp the neck of it so he runs to the shed and comes back with a huge, what looked like, a railroad tie spike and drives it through its neck killing it. Driving back to the cabin I was wondering what happened to the first bite I got. I found that out when I cleaned it. But before cleaning it we weighed it. It weighed a little over 4 kilos. When I went to clean it i noticed that it's belly was moving. After opening it, there was the first fish that took my hook because my hook was hooked in its mouth. My uncle was surprised to see that as well because he had never seen that before. But it wasn't going to make it so we kept it as well. That one weighed 400 grams. So the big trout that ate it weighed about 3.6 kilos after removing it. Where the family's cabin is in Norway is by Norefjell mountain. There is nothing there except for nature and cabins. The closest grocery store is in the central area in a small shopping center about 30 minute drive. Things like that get posted on the communal board there. I posted a picture of myself holding my fish and breaking the previous record of the biggest fish caught up there with a pole by more than 1.5 kilos. To this day, no one has managed to beat my record of the biggest fish caught with a pole. So my record still stands 30+ years later. So whatever ate that fish that you pulled up in this video would have been cool to see like I did with the fish that I caught back in 1989. So seeing this video, I just had to post my story.

It’s not too bad, you only really need to be like 10-15 miles out to not see land. I work on a casino boat and half of the time we go out far enough to not see land. Even if something happened they probably have cell signal out there and definitely have some sort of transponder or whatever that the coast guard, or Australian equivalent, can use to find them.

Great video, Sammy. New Subscriber here from USA 🇺🇸. Wow amazing after the first fight with a Thresher 🦈 and who ever was eating to another fight with another thresher and no dinner in between. I enjoyed the video fully. Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing.

Here's a dumb question: if you have a sleep/rest overnight, what do you do? Presumably you can't throw out the anchor at that depth? Do you just drift? I have no experience in this.

    • @NCMTNBOY
      @NCMTNBOY 2 роки тому +1

In the first video, Shauno said they would throw out a sea anchor at night, which is like an underwater parachute, reduces the amount of wind drift and keeps the bow pointed into any wind.

I’ve never watched any of your other videos so while I was watching this I thought I was about to experience a ambush horror film. I of course realize this was a real recorded fishing trip. But in the back of my mind it almost felt like a setup for a horror short film.
Like the first shark being half eaten felt like an omen. I was half expecting one of you guys where going to get pulled in at the last second.
I wonder if anyone else had these feelings while watching too.
Great video guys very interesting. That looked like some real hard work.

The fact that it took Soo much time and effort to get it up really shows that something was wrapped around it, latched onto the thrasher shark.. I'd really guess a big big squid. He did not want to let go of it's dinner.. this is crazy. Any other predator you would imagine wouldn't be locked onto this prey in this manner... It was like fighting a giant stingray..

There must be some insane creatures down there my only thoughts are Humboldt squid or maybe smaller sharks where just taking chunks out of him while tail Hooked but squid like to do that as well and if enough of them are down there they can demolish a piece of meat pretty quick. An threshers are awesome sharks I've gotten the chance to see one hunting in person going after a school of bunker a coupe feet under the boat it was nuts. It looked so awesome and they have a majestic swim to them with those long tails.

Whitetip reef sharks top the list of most commonly caught sharks in the country followed by the spurdog squalus megalops. Other populous species include tiger sharks, silvertip sharks, blacktip sharks, brownbanded bamboo sharks, white-spotted shovel nosed rays and sharptooth lemon sharks.

On my 10th birthday, my drunk dad took me out with his drunk friend to fish in his 35ish foot boat. Upon launching the boat down the cement ramp and into the water, the two stooges damaged the motor. Motor started, but they admitted it wasn’t sounding “normal”. They assured me we were good. We launched out of Marina Del Rey, Ca. As soon as as we got passed the jetties in got ROUGH. I wanted to go back. Ahhhhh, don’t worry kid, we’ll be good. So we are 5-6 miles out now. They drop anchor. Within minutes (before even dropping the lines we start getting overwhelmed by the waves. The two stooges go to start the engines, and the boat won’t start. Within a couple of minutes the boat it gone. I find out we only had 1 life jacket. My dad’s stooge decides to swim off on his own. My dad puts the life jacket on himself, and holds on to me. For hours in pitch black now we are floating over such big waves, that each time we land on the backside of the wave, we’d sink under the water….this was hours and hours. Let me tell ya, when There’s no moon or stars. And you’re miles out, with no light, you can’t see shite. After 11 hours of floating and dunking big waves in complete blackness…
It eventually settles down and it’s very quiet. OUT OF NOWHERE, within the next…hour(?), comes a large boat/sailboat. It had lights on it, we could see it, we couldn’t tell how far away it was. We start screaming with everything we had and the HERO hears the screaming!!!!!. Within a few moments, a big search light turn on from his boat and starts panning over the water. He spots us, with obvious talent and experience he pulls up PERFECTLY next to the two of us and exactly where his ladder on the boat was (on the first attempt) ! He throws the ladder over and says “climb on up”. At the age of 10, I was already quite an athlete, a fighter, and in TOP shape (I did in fact ultimately become an elite accomplish athlete. Point being, even at 10 I was tough and strong….BUT I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME get the strength to even reach for the ladder. Same with the other stooge in the water with me. The HERO realizes this, climbs down the ladder, scoops me up with his hand, wrist, and forearm strength up onto the deck. Goes back, grabs my 200 lb stooge/dad/deadweight with one arm up the side and to the deck.
He throws emergency blankets over us, and just seems be a total stud. Gets me hot chocolate, is holding me in this gigantic warm (very itchy) blanket. Treating my dad, etc. essentially he saved our lives. CRAZY: he was out on his sailboat (big boat) trying to just impress a lady on his boat on his first date with the woman. He ends up saving an old drunk and a good 10 year old kid. When we got home, I just immediately wanted to call this man regardless of what time it was, or what he was doing (prolly getting himself a nice BJ)😊. And just hug him and tell him how heroic he was. My dad unfortunately didn’t think to bother because the thought of somehow paying him back in some shape or form never probably crossed his mind.
Anyway, I don’t like boats but I’ve been an avid surfer sine 10.5 years old to this day. I’m 55 now. Bless ya’s if you actually read this long winded shite.
*dad didn’t think to bother to get his phone number to thank him.
To this day I wish I could shake his hand and thank him and go over the story with him.
