Renfield has been one of my most anticipated movies ever since seeing Nicolas Cage revealed as Dracula. I'm happy to say, the movie delivered all the zany & over-the-top gory fun that I hoped for.

Loved it! Nicolas Cage KILLED IT as Dracula. WE NEED HIS SOLO DRACULA FILM.
That was Bram Stoker's 1931 Dracula
I hope it will be a part 2
Man, Nic Cage has had a great run for the last few years. 2021 was Pig, 2022 was unbearable weight of massive talent and now Renfield.
This movie was so much fun, exactly what I go to the movies for.
Nicolas Cage clearly having an absolute blast as Dracula but I love the fact that even tho he comes in and does his Nic cage thing, it never overshadows the fact that he’s playing Dracula, he still feels intimidating.
Thought the mob/police subplot was the weakest part of the movie but still had an absolute blast with this movie
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sarcastic and petty Dracula is my favorite type of Dracula. Nic Cage was cracking me up every time he was on screen.” HAAAIIIIIILLLLLLLLLL SATANNNNN!”
I am thrilled this was done well and done with a wink and a nod to whom Dracula always has been and letting Nick go full Nick Cage on HIS take of Dracula. Thanks Cody

Is this movie actually good? Or is it just gore porn nonsense?
@@imsentinelprime9279 didn’t you watch his review?
This movie deserves so much more praise.
What I liked the most about Cage's Dracula is that while he was very funny, he was also legitimately evil and solid villain.
I love the movie and it's message about toxic relationships.
I agree with everything said, with one addition:
I think Awkwafina will grow and become a better actress.
We've seen many actors grow over time and become much better.
As long as she doesn't quit, I think we'll see her develop her own style.
This movie was amazing dude. Such a humorous take on a toxic relationship and codependency, dope af
I had a freakin blast with this movie pleasant surprise always like Nicholas Holt I think I just might like him more as an actor now nic cage freakin killed it as Dracula couldn't tell from the trailer whether he was gonna be campy or serious thought they balanced that tone very well the fact that Robert Kirkman wrote the script really explains how I got a graphic novel vibe from the style of the movie I also got a Ghost Rider spirit of vengeance vibe from the over the top crazy pace and editing
I’m so glad you liked this one. I’m taking my Mom to see it since she loves Cage and classic Dracula.
This movie was ridiculously awesome! Nicholas Hoult did a fantastic job!
This sounds like a damn good time. I hope I get a chance to see it in a theater.
Hey Cody. The trailer for another Dracula movie dropped recently. Last Voyage of the Demeter. It looks pretty great. Trailer reaction, maybe?
9:10 I skipped this video 5 months ago because i hadnt seen Renfield yet. I just watched it, and all I could think about was Castor F#
The standout from this cast (besides the Cage man himself) has to be Nicholas Hoult and Ben Schwartz
After watching The Menu, I thought it would be hard to watch a movie where Hoult is a likable character but he's so charming in this, I can't help but route for him
And Schwartz is absolutely hilarious as the coked up son of a mobster and he hams it up even more in the final act
Great movie, probably going to watch it again
I had so much fun with this movie today. It’s not perfect and a little uneven. But it is a lot of fun and what makes it stand out quite a bit more than it probably deserves is Cage’s performance as Dracula. :)
Also there was a trailer for another Dracula movie coming out this year…”The Last Voyage of the Demeter”. That looks incredible. I hope that’s good and it’s cool to see two Dracula movies this year
The CGI blood was a must for this move! They really showed that if your going for something goofy and fun. Use special effects that fit the role
I agree, more Renfield films pls and thank you.
I'm seeing this one very soon!! Looked fun in the trailers and i am very excited to see it! This review only heightened my excitement!
Great review Cody, I was concerned about the digital gore, but if it worked for you, I'm sure it'll work for me. Loved the trailer, so I'm ready for this!
Great review! I had high expectations for this film and you made them real!!! Love you Cody!!!
Nicolas cage is getting on hell of a comeback, and I love it! 😁
"It's Nicholas Cage playing Dracula..."
Me: Again? 😂
It's interesting we're getting two distinct Dracula movies this year. I'm honestly really looking forward to The Voyage of the Demeter
Just watched it… wow was freaking awesome… I know he won’t get it, but Nicolas Cage deserve and Oscar for this performance…. I was so captivated every time he was on screen
So glad you liked it! We worked very hard on it 😀
You work for universal pictures?
@@anishussain7093 he was assistant director!
that was one of the best and most fun movies i’ve seen in a long time. i pretty much went in blind and was super impressed. the action was awesome and the comedy was great!
easily the most underrated movie of the year!
epically awesome film
How do you know?@@okate251
If cody loves CGI blood in a movie, THAT is saying how good the movie is
This movie exceeded my expectations!! ❤
You sold me on your comparison to Castor Troy in Face off. Loved that movie and that character. Sounds like a fun movie and can't wait to see.
Awesome review as always
👏
I can attest to this movie being better seeing it with a decent crowd. My theatre was nowhere near capacity, but had a decent amount of people there and one group of guys in particular were loving every moment of it. It was infectious, and their joy I believe increased my appreciation of this film.
Thank you, random loud laughing dudes. You made the movie better.
Can’t wait to see this . I just watched “Air” and I’m actually surprised with how decent it was
It’s so good to see nic cage back doing big budget Hollywood movies again. I’d like to see him and Wesley snipes return as ghost rider and blade in secret wars. Btw Cody can we get a top 10 Nicolas cage movies review please.
Great review! Saw the movie and had very similar experience… also, can you please release the full list of the 31 on 31 Cody? So we can watch the few movies we haven’t watched before…
I like how nic goes out in this movie and longegs while rockhands in the air saying "hail satan". Love the nods
This movie was a lot of fun. Me and my best friend were surprised to see Robert Kirkman(creator of Invincible and Walking Dead) wrote the script.
Nick Cage killed it especially with his facial feature. I can't believe I'm saying this, but a few times Nick Cage's dracula looked somewhat like Christopher Lee's dracula and Lee's my favorite actor of all time.
Also I kept thinking the Lobos were gonna end up being Werewolves, but that might have made the movie more congested.
If I haven't seen the trailer, will it still hit as hard? Mind you,I've never been a fan of Vampire films.
This could be the one that changes that though!! Excellent review Cody! You make me beyond intrigued and that's what great reviews should do!! Cheers!!
Hey Cody I'm really glad you enjoyed.i really dug it too. Happy Cody is the best Cody .when you're excited about a movie it's always a fun review. I agree with the gore , I think that the movie moves so fast that the cgi blood doesn't linger .it happens and it keeps moving.
Renfield, aka Nicolas Cage as Dacula.
Two words: LOVED IT!!!❤🔥⚰🧛♂
Can’t wait to watch this when I get home from vacation. ❤Nicolas Cage’s current work especially “Mandy”. So I’d really like to see Nicolas cage doing that serious role with a Zaney edge.
I just got out of watching this movie. The trailer didn’t have me getting very excited but as a Dracula movie fan I knew I had to support it. I’m happy to say I really enjoyed this. I was so happy to see the clips of the old universal Dracula movie with Holt and Cage’s faces imposed over the original actors at the start. This instantly won me over because I knew this movie wanted to add to the Dracula mythology and not just piggy back off it. Cage is great as the count. I would have liked more of him so I’d love a sequel. The movie isn’t perfect, Awkwafina’s plot isn’t super compelling, but she’s cool and it doesn’t take anything away, I’d just prefer a bit more Cage. Overall I was very entertained and I’m glad the run time wasn’t too long. Basically I need more Cage as Dracula, I would love a trilogy of this. More please!
Glad you enjoyed this film. I'm looking forward to viewing this next week.
Just got back from the theater me and my gf loved it. Im glad I saw Cody’s tweet about it because I thought it looked a little dumb from the trailers but once I saw what he said about it I had to see it.
Great review!
You should watch The Farewell. Awkwafina is brilliant in the film. ☺️
Like you, I was sold on this movie as soon as I knew Nicholas Cage was playing Dracula.
This movie looks very fun to me and I will see it at some point but I am not a Nicholas Cage fan. I feel he is a one note, very overrated actor but he does tend to pick movies that are at least fun concepts, if not execution. Even so, thank you for your opinion/review.
It was so much fun!! Long time horror fan here &
Whoah! A fresh take on Dracula 🧛🏻♀️!! So good!!! ❤
Excellent movie!
Can’t wait to see Nick Holt & Marilyn Manson slay as vampires! In all seriousness, this looks like ultimate classic Cageness and I’m in
Looking forward to seeing this movie and regarding your 31 on 31 please tell me you're gonna talk about the Twilight movies. You're gonna have so much fun ripping them to shreds.
Loved the movie and watching your reviews after I see a film is always a must! Fav movie reviewer 👍👍
Loved this movie. One of my favorites of the year so far.
Cody being a big Nightmare On Elm Street fan, did you watch the trailer Dylans New Nightmare? Dave as Freddy omg... watch it.
First off, wonder if that 31 on 31 would include my fav werewolf movie, Ginger Snaps. 🤔 And Nick Cage playing Dracula, that's actually what I was iffy about. I've seen Nick Cage playing roles that worked for him, Raising Arizona for example, but I've also seen, how to put this lightly, seen him screaming about the bees. So if this is the good Nick Cage version we're getting playing Dracula, maybe I'll check it out. Maybe it could be like Vampire's Kiss if he really was a vampire. Anyways, thank you, Cody.
My fella is not a horror fan at all. But all I had to say was “nick cage as Dracula” and he was just as excited as me about seeing it. We loved it.
After seeing how rough the start of the year was for you when it comes to theaters, it was good to see you get a couple wins with Mario and Renfield. I know you hate talking about movies you don't like and we've had some stinkers early on this year. Bring on Evil Dead Rises!
Yes, Stretch is in this film lol I can't wait to see this one
Renfield is so awesome that to me is tie with John Wick 4 on how entertaining it was. And I love how bloody it was, this movie literally made Scream 6 looks like a G rated movie
We’re in agreement yet again, I liked this one too, quite a lot actually. Campy, fun, gory, and Nic Cage as Dracula, what’s not to like?
I absolutely love Nicholas Cage as an actor, absolutely love all of roles he has played in his Movies so when I heard about this one I got really excited I haven't seen it yet but just from the trailer it looks like Nicholas cage a lot of fun being this character Dracula.
ALL his roles??? Even the Wicker Man 😜😜
@J Well, not all of his Roles, just a lot of my really, really favorite one I really love by him
@@David-The-Movie-Guy Oh I'm just messing with ya lol
@@TrainsCatsOtherStories oh ok lol
Can't wait for your Evil Dead Rise review real soon
Leaving las vegas ,honeymoon in vegas and mandy .Nicolas cage rocks! Can't wait to see it
The Farewell is a better dramatic performance from Awkwafina. Her performance in that film is so under-appreciated.
Nick Cage was really great: He oozes presence and fear while being also funny
I loved this movie! It was so fun! The crazy over the top action reminded me of what you see in anime! It was such a good time
I was never a big Nick Cage fan, but I agree. He killed it (literally) in this movie.
im gonna be seein this one tomorrow w my sis
Side note tho Cody, id honestly like to hear ur thoughts on Adam Sandlers films
First positive review I've seen for this movie
I was rooting for Dracula throughout the whole movie.
my favorite part was when Renfield snatched a guys face off, it instantly had me wondering if it's a shout out to FACEOFF... I'm not done watching the movie yet, I forgot to watch your review, so I paused it to come watch the review...lol later
This was the review I’ve been waiting for lol. I stopped everything to watch 😆. With the CGI blood and gore I was afraid you weren’t going to like it but I am pleasantly surprised 😅. I was worried about it too when I was watching the trailer but I LOVED it! It was so fun. I agree with you about awkwafina, her acting style doesn’t work for me. She’s still cute though lol. And ofc Nic Cage was AMAZING.. I’m so excited to see him back, he was so good, I can’t wait to see it again.
you are beautiful Melissa 😍
Not for you, but Awkwafina is good in The Farewell. I do agree she sounds the same in most of her movies, but you can say the same for actors like Al Pacino or Robert DeNiro.
But Renfield was okay. I had fun watching it, but the script is disappointing coming from Robert Kirkman. This is not a movie I will likely revisit unlike recent movies such as D&D or John Wick. This is a decent January release. Best thing is Nicolas Cage.
Cody check out the trailer for the last voyage of Demeter. It’s a Dracula movie coming out in august!
I already preordered on Gruv
If they made The Lobos a Werewolf mafia I feel like it would make them a bit more enjoyable to watch. Instead all I could see was Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec.
Haven't started the video! BUT this is one I've been waiting on! Can't wait to see what you have to say.
More Nic Cage, more fun. International treasure for sure.
saw it in a pretty packed theater, definitely a few good laughs and a very fun film. 8/10
I wanted to like this movie so bad I was walking in expecting dumb fun but none of the jokes landed for me
Have you ever watched "Bad Lieutenant: Port of New Orleans"? Damn good Cage movie with an awesome Cage performance
Renfield was great I absolutely loved it what a fun movie. Nicholas Cage killed it as Dracula. One of the best horror movies I've seen this year for sure
nicholas cage's performence was awesomeeee
Awesome review
Just got out of seeing it rn and it was sm fun lots of action lots of gore and some decent comedy. I would give it a 7/10. The CGI gore was actually pretty good there were some moments where I was like yeah thats definitely CG but overall looked good.
Nic Cage is a national treasure haha
LOVED this movie, however the first thing I said coming out of the theater was that I did not like Awquafina’s acting or role AT ALL. The ranks would have gone up for me if she wasn’t in this. No hate, I just think the role wasn’t for her. I felt it was a push to be inclusive amd not really something they did to match the story.
I feel like by the second half of the movie it knows what it wants to be and that’s a fun and campy thrill ride, first half felt kinda directionless and didn’t know what it wanted to be!
Have you watched stakeland?????
Had an amazing time with this film. Violent zany fun. Nicolas Cage killed it
Somewhat flawed but really fun movie but I can see why it isn't doing well this is easily a cult film this was never going to do big numbers but its really fun and a shame its flopping.
In regards to your opinion that Awkwafina isn’t a very good actress, I do have to disagree on that one. There’s a movie called The Farewell where she shows quite a bit of range. This movie was awesome though!
I dont need to hear anything else Mr L.
Nicholas Cage is great; how can u not love him.
Saw it today and really enjoyed it.
This has made everybody forget about the actual Dracula film out later this year 😂
Cody, you know that the brat was Sonic. (Ben Schwartz)
Have you seen vampires kiss with nic cage. It’s from 1988, and it’s a very underrated flick
my favorite Nick Cage movie of all time is "RAISING Arizona", but this does look like another zany Nick at his funny best,
ill probably stream it though.
I loved Nick Cage in this ❤ Awkwafina on the other hand......her and Nick Hoults chemistry felt so forced. As soon as I realized the movie was trying to make them a thing I was like " please NO". Other than that, the pacing, and a few plot holes I really enjoyed it
Had a lot of fun with this one! Also, if you wanna see Awkwafina give a great performance, highly recommend The Farewell! It definitely gives her some range and shows her acting abilities 👍🏻👍🏻
