    The RX 6800 is ageing like a fine wine. Anyone that bought the RX 6800 / 6800 XT on launch still has no real reason to upgrade if they aren’t gaming at 4K. Those two GPUs are still 1440p monsters and even at 1080p are still overkill.

    • @kaxike7988
      @kaxike7988 4 місяці тому +12

      Yes, I play in 1080p and I have not tried a single game where I have to lower the graphics except in Watch Dogs 2 but because of the CPU, for some reason that game is very CPU dependent and my Ryzen 5 5600x is not enough, but In the rest of the games, the processor does not use more than 35% and I am thinking of buying a Ryzen 9 5900x or maybe waiting a little longer and buying a Ryzen 9 5950x.
      and after that I need to change the monitor but in my country the import is so restricted that the cheapest 1440p 165hz is +600 dollars and is horrible, with some worse features than my 24 inch 1080p 60hz tv from like 2010, so I'm hoping that in 2025 the general liberalization of imports of electronic components will begin when the new government's reforms have already had a great effect, but the government is still new and the economy has barely begun to recover this month in most sectors after escaping of hyperinflation and Javier Milei's shock reforms and the basic law for Argentine reconstruction that will eliminate a large part of the Argentine bureaucratic structure has not yet been approved.

      @@kaxike7988 get the 5800x3d if you wanna stay on AM4. It performs better than ryzen 9 because it has double the cache. Btw wow thats a lot of money for a 165 hz monitor. I am in Greece I can order you one for much cheaper and ship it somehow if thats more worth it and you trust some stranger 😅

      @@kaxike7988 we have the same setup with 1080p. but i'm using 165hz monitor 24 and its true it's overkill. but i love the fact that i can just limit fps so i dont use a lot of power (power is kind of expensive in my country). for rpg games the card only requires around 80watt. freakin efficient beast of a card.

    • @kaxike7988

      @@Cakalank It's true, now I'm basically limited because of the prices of monitors in my country, 800 dollars now for the cheapest one and 920 dollars for a decent LG one, so 1080p 60hz of a tv with a scratched screen is my only option xd

    My biggest concern with higher end rx 6800 (xt) cards is that they might only get another 3 years of driver support.
    I mean the vega cards also stopped getting supported in 2023, 7 years after their release so its possible the Rx 6800 might only get a few more years of driver support.
    And this could mean we might end up in a situation where the card is technically still powerful enough for modern games, but simply doesnt get the driver support for them anymore which would really suck

    Paid $850 for an RX 6800 in late 2020. Im shocked by the performance I'm getting on a gaming rig from 3.5+ years ago. Now with AMFM or Lossless Scaling, I may get away with another 2 years before my next PC build. I'm also convinced the RX 6800XT is the new 1080ti.

  • @enricofermi3471
    @enricofermi3471 4 місяці тому +2

    The normal 6800 was a great choice (and to some point, depending on the price, still is - but these days I'd rather advice to go with 7800XT - once again, depending on your budget). You don't get to trace dem rays (not at a pleasing quality / framerate ratio, anyways), but the value over the cumpetition (don't forget, these cards launched during mining craze) and the 16GB VRAM compensate and overcompensate.
    Even better option was a 6800XT - getting one at or close to launch is like getting a 1080Ti at or close to its launch. Unless you desperately crave raytracing, this is a card to carry you through at least a whole generation, if not two, of GPUs.
    Personally, I went all in and got a 6900XT. Price/Performance sucked compared to 6800(XT), but I wanted the top of the lineup.

      That's a good advice but for those who are starting to build a PC, but for people who still own aaRX 6800 is better to wait for the next gen, the RX 6800 is not obsolete yet, you can play the latest games at high settings, 1440p and use the FSR so the card is still strong enough, for me it is better to wait for new gen of cards ; 3

    I picked up this card a month ago for $330 shipped from Newegg. It was a refurb but has a warranty and 90 day return policy. Suffice it to say I am so happy with this GPU paired with an Intel 12600kf, 32G of fast ram on an Asrock B650 Pro RS monbo. With my case ($65) and CPU cooler ($17) and PSU (Corsair 750watt), I was right in at $775. Can't complain at all for such performance in both 1080p and 1440p (I have a 1440p Acer Nitro gaming monitor). Has played everything I have thrown at it!

      that's the 6600, but both are outliers in the RDNA2 lineup, all the XT models spike in power draw, that and rnda2 doesn't report full tbp, so you only get what the chip is drawing, so to whatever value is shown on screen, add another 50w

    In mid 2022 I bought an RX 6700XT for 580€ from a GTX 1060 3GB. I loved the card but I ended up having issues with my pc which I thought where the cards fault (they weren't) so I returned the card after 3 months and I miraculously got my money back. Since GPU prices dropped even further I just spent 590€ on the RX 6800. Lovely card, amazing with its 16GB of VRAM. SAM is also nice to have if you have at least a Ryzen 3000 CPU.

    edit @26:00 - (Helldivers 2) Seems weird to me that it would use the GPU more for a tiny area with virtually nothing moving or changing compared to a huge open area that's constantly changing and has a huge number of different things that need to be rendered at once.
