I remember when she would use a double broiler when making the lemon meringue pie not sure why.My health has been on the decline so I don’t do much cooking can’t stand up for very long. I ve been having a baker make me cakes , pies, fudge, cupcakes and more and it’s expensive. Plus peach cobbler and fudge but after I was on UA-cam I ran in to Claire The lady that was showing her recipes for cooking back indeed depression days I believe when I first saw them she was 91 and then she passed away at 97 I think. Well I was hooked watching her a very sweet kind lovely lady. She touched my heart and I kept watching and watching , well I was hooked then some how your baking videos came on. Well that very first one easy baking ways of making all kinds of great things. Well I watched and I couldn’t believe how easy you made it so I will try it. I mean you sold me on it and thank you cause I am so glad to fine this.
A hint my wonderful Grandma taught me. 😂 I used it for my Wedding Cake Business. Only grease and flour the bottom of your cake pan if you want your cake sides to raise higher. This allows the cake to cling to the sides of the pan so the cake raises higher. Do this especially for your layer cakes. Works great for a nice, tall, impressive, Birthday or Wedding 13:37 cake.

Made this as a birthday cake for my father years ago, only I didn't tell him I used sugar free ingredients. No one, not even my Granny, could tell the difference! Looks good Catherine, when I younger , bestfriends aunt would make this cake( by scratch in those days) and cook in a cast iron skillet, cool slice into two layers and vanilla pudding with melted marshmallows ( just a few).. Topped of course chocolate..So good...That was one Delicious Boston cream cake...

This looks like another great dessert for summer! I love poke cake because you get something extra, it's so much more than just a regular cake. When you were piping the pudding into the holes I kept thinking about a turkey baster. That would probably work if you could get the mixture into it. 😋 Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
Boston cream is one of my favorite desserts. You could probably step this up a notch by making the cream from scratch. It would have a more 'true' Boston cream flavor.

I didn't want the cake to rise to high in the pan, I had two other layers to put in, so I only used 3 eggs.
